[Q] About upgrading my device - General Questions and Answers

Hi. I have a Galaxy Note 8 (N5100) and I recently upgraded it to 4.4.2 using Egypt's firmware thru Odin. 2 months ago. Now, the official update has been rolled out to my country (Philippines) and I was wondering how I can upgrade it to the official Philippine firmware. I've downloaded the firmware on sammobile and I just want to make sure if I can just safely flash it thru Odin without doing anything else aside from backing up my apps/data.
Thank you!

Maybe you should flash by odin! Egypt's firmware maybe doesn't support your OTA or kies. If you flash CORRECTLY with your firmware(Firmware version, PIT, or boot loader) Odin should work fine!

[Q] How to downgrade to official GS2 firmware so I can upgrade using Kies?

Hi,
I flashed my phone to the latest ICS firmware at the time, which was lp6 i think. I want to downgrade it to another official one, like the unbranded UK version so when it is released in UK I can upgrade it using kies.
I tried many firmwares but only 1 was had the ability to be upgraded via kies according to the firmware listo on sammobile.com, I tried it but Kies states Your Device Does Not Support Updating Via Kies.
So just to test, I downloaded the latest o2 ICS firmware, I still get the same message.
Anyone know what I can do so kies recognises it?
All help will be appreciated, and thanks.

[Q] P3110 -Troubleshooting with official FW

Do I have some time on my samsung galaxy tab use only the original firmware. So I wanted to try but some unofficial version. I therefore tried a lot of recovery. That was probably a mistake because when I wanted to go back to the original firmware, the latest version is freely available on the Internet (XEZ 4.1.2). Despite that, I wanted OTA update to the latest 4.2.2 Tablet me but wrote that the last update has already been installed. CSC reports still original XEZ. Any idea how to solve it?

So Xez is your latest update in your contry , if you want to update to 4.2.2 , try different region, you can donwload in http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/, and flash via odin.
Or you can try microdelta rom which is the best stock rom for p3110,

Manually updating to Oreo

Hi.
I have a G955U Galaxy S8+ AT&T Factory Unlocked on Android 7.0
Baseband Version: G955USQU1AQD9
Android Security Patch Level - April 1, 2017
I no longer live in the US, and currently in the Philippines. Phone works great and the signal is too and all, but I cannot get OTA updates.
Can I just download the firmware file in this thread and flash straight through ODIN, or do I need to follow another guide?
Thanks in advance
You can, however there are specific sequences to follow, so you have to update in firmware released order.
I encountered the same problem so I downloaded odin that worked for Nougat and loaded all version to BRB1 I think it is and then went to Oreo. Currently on CRC5.
Another note, when you are about to hit Oreo you will need to download the odin that works for Oreo. It can be found in the CRC5 thread.
Happy Updating

Is this really necessary?
I want to update to Oreo as well but since I'm AT&T unlocked and not currently using AT&T network I'm stuck in the June software update so I'll have to flash like 7-8 firmware updates and each one being about 2-3 GB to download.
Also, is there any stock Samsung firmware I can download so I can avoid having to manually flash every software update? Or am I just stuck with the AT&T firmware?
Thanks in advance.
I'm also having this problem. Need to flash the updates through ODIN but I can't find every single stock file leading up to BR9 on this site. Do I really have flash them all? Or is there another way?

Trouble Flashing Samsung S7 to Android 7.0

Hey so.. Phone's root bugged out yesterday and I downloaded twrp and decided I should upgrade it to Android 8.0 then root it. After many hours of failures I managed to flash a 8.0 but I couldn't make the CSC to work, since my phone is region locked to another country so I decided to go back to 7.0 and try again.. but now here it gets complicated because I really don't know what to do. I'm not sure how exactly to go back from 8.0 to 7.0.. Can someone give me detailed steps on what should I do.. I'd be very grateful!
PS. I don't know if I'm posting this in the right forum thread.
Here https://updato.com/how-to/how-to-install-an-official-samsung-stock-firmware-using-odin
Same site, or sammobile can be used to get the firmware files to flash with Odin
Note: The last version of 7.0 locked the ability to downgrade, I haven't gone to Oreo so can't confirm, but it ability to downgrade may also be removed from Oreo.

I can confirm, downgrading from Oreo 8.0 to Nougat 7.0 is possible, even without tripping knox.
It's just flashing the previous firmware with odin and factory reset the phone before first run and you're fine to go

[N915FY] About downgrading…

Hello,
I would like to downgrade a Galaxy Note Edge (N915FY) to Android Kitkat but I haven't done it in a few years. I wanted to make sure I understood everything before I made any mistakes. I saw on differents topics on XDA that Samsung was preventing to downgrade on their devices since android 5.0.1.
In this case :
Is reinstalling the bootloader of an Kitkat firmware with Odin is enough to reinstall an stock android 4.4 firmware after ?
Did you know where I can find an Android 4.4 bootloader for N915FY (can I extract it from the stock firmware) ?
Did I need to do and tick "Re-Partition" on Odin ?
If I do a re-partition, what PIT file should I use (see on sammobile.com) ? (TBLTE_EUR_OPENBTU_HIDDEN100M.pit or TBLTE_EUR_OPENBTU.pit)
What is the difference between SM-N915FY and SM-N915F, I understand that one was for the European market and the other for the international market (bootloader?, partition?, LTE frequency?) ?
Do any of you have a Kitkat full stock firmware (BL, AP, CP, CSC) region XEF ? I can't find any on Internet, all the links are dead.
Thanks a lot for your help
Feel free to answer me even if you only have part of the answer !

Hello,
Thanks for your answer, I finally left the phone with the latest version of marshmallow available. What surprises me is that I only saw positive opinions on the kitkat version, since the phone works pretty well so I thought it wasn't worth the risk of downgrading.
Maybe the bugs you had come from a problem with the memory chip in your note 4, I have the impression that this often happens after a few years.
Edit: Oh! And did you have to dowgrade you bootloader before install kitkat ? I also tried to install kitkat on a defective note 4 motherboard and I had a lot of bug, but it was without repartion and with a one file firmware (I did'nt find any 4 files/repair firmware for the n915fy with android 4.4). Also an important part of link of firmware listed on samsung-update for kitkat are dead.
