Anybody has noticed that Z3 earpiece (top speaker) heats up a lot within 5 - 10 mins of phone calls?
BTW I am using Z3 D6633 (dual sim).
mine heats up
Mine is z3 dual as well and it heats up pretty quickly
This was happening to me too, but seemed related to battery drain as well. When I disabled "Smart Backlight Control" in Settings, Display, both issues seemed to go away. Phone calls no longer ran hot and batter drain improved a lot. I almost returned the phone bc of the heat during calls!
I just tested 8:40 call, not hot at all just lightly warm thats it. Maybe some production quality issues in your case.
Mine is T-Mobile variant, so who knows if heat issues differ between Tmo and Intl versions too. For me, I "restored all apps" and after normal disabling of startup apps etc, still was hot. Thought it was SPB 3D Shell, but eventually it was the disabling of Smart Backlight Control that did the trick. Who knows.
Overheating Issue with Xperia z3 Dual phone
Hi. I am having severe overheating issues within 5 minutes of normal phone calls.
I got the phone replaced but the new phone again has the same overheating Issue.
Can't expect this from a Sony phone costing more than US 800.

Thanks for the help. My friend with a Z3 Dual was desperate because of overheating during calls, now everything works fine!

I have been having a few issues with my Nexus One during after wifi tethering. Usually it only happens after extended periods of tethering, but sometimes it happens after shorter periods. My phone frequently gets from 100-113F (as measured with CurveFish BatteryLife app. I'm not sure how accurate it is). Perhaps the temperature has to do with the issues I am experiencing. Strange, because my G1 got just as hot and I never had a problem.
Issues:
1) Touch screen does not register correctly and I have to reboot the phone.
2) Microphone does not work properly when making phonecalls. I can hear the person clearly, but they tell me I keep blanking out.
Has anyone else had these issues or any other issues after tethering?
[edit]
I am now using a new Nexus One (RMA'd the last one for a dead pixel) and have not had any of these issues.
Apparently my last device was simply defective.
You do understand that WIFI Tether is still in beta process and will have problems right?
I have also noticed that the phone gets hot when charging and wifi on, I dont see this as a problem unless it is burning hot because components will get warm.
For concern 2, do you by any chance accidentally cover the rear microphone when speaking to someone? It is a nice feature for noise cancellation, but if the rear mic is covered, with your hand or on your shoulder, it will cut out your voice. Just throwing that out there.
I am using wifi tethering with Cyanogen addon.
I see a problem since CPU loading is 99% after wifi tether has started.
I guess we need to wait for bug fix

Yes, I realize it is still a beta. This thread is not meant to complain by any means, and I apologize if it came off that way. I'm glad I have tethering at all
I am simply trying to diagnose my problem, and I figured seeing if others experienced similar issues would be a good way to start.
My first thought about the issues with people not hearing me was that noise cancellation was not working properly, but I am 100% sure I'm not covering the mic on the back of the phone.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with tethering.

Nice! Good to hear you got that taken care of.
I've had the Keylink for a couple weeks now and I'm using it with my Pure Edition on Lollipop (most recently on the 22.21.11 build). My primary reason for purchasing the Keylink was for the Trusted Device (Smart Lock) feature.
It's been hit or miss. When it works and actually stays connected, it's awesome -- bypassing the lockscreen is very convenient. However, the Keylink has trouble staying connected even when in close proximity to the phone. It will frequently lose connection and chirp until it reconnects.
Yesterday I got a low battery notification because the advertised one-year battery life gets eaten up pretty quickly if it's constantly trying to reconnect.
I'd like to hear other feedback and impressions of the Keylink.
I would love to actually find one to try lol.
T-Mobile brick-and-mortar stores should have pretty good stock. I just picked up a Keylink today, and so far it's working as intended. The only complaint I have as of now is that they could have made the dongle more compact. It's about the size of a fat guitar pick, which isn't very large, but if you pop open the battery compartment, you can see that they could have shaved off a few millimeters of plastic.
Other than that, using it as a Trusted Device for the Smart Lock is great, and the ping functions seem like great ideas as well. We'll see how it holds up over time.
EDIT: Had my first hiccup today. Sometimes it doesn't reconnect automatically. To reconnect, I had to do so manually by fiddling with the bluetooth settings and hitting the button on the Keylink a few times. Also, the effective range is certainly not 100 feet, at least not in realistic situations. It's more like 10-20 feet if your Keylink or phone is tucked away and out of line-of-sight.
Seems that some problems can be fixed by replacing the battery that ships with the Keylink.
If anyone is having problems, it's worth a shot!
This might be a silly question but, does this impact the phones battery life at all?

There is a non-zero impact on battery life but you probably won't even notice.
Great thanks.

I got a low battery notificatoin too. I've had the Keylink for about a month on my AT&T S5. I never paid attention if I lost connection often or not, never heard any chirp. My wife's keylink seems to be ok (AT&T S5 active). We'll see if the 1 yr battery life holds true with a brand new battery.
If this thing eats up a battery every month, that's a problem. ~6 months I can tolerate.
My Nokia 7 PLUS was bought mainly as a backup phone and to experience pure Android without paying an insane amount for a Pixel. I like my new Nokia but there are so many positive reviews out there that tell you why this is a good purchase, so I'll try to mention the weird stuff I've experienced. This phone has been my daily driver for 2 months now.
First and foremost the quick charging issues that I have another topic going about, so I'll skip this part.
Wi-fi disconnecting and giving me a notification sound. I don't know if I'm just being a noob here, but getting "ghost" notifications throughout the day has been a bit bothersome. At first I didn't know what was going on, I was seemingly getting notification sounds without there being any updates for me in any apps. But the other day just as I unlocked the phone I got the sound and saw the wifi being disconnected for a splitsecond. I don't know how I turn off wifi sound notifications without impacting other more important sounds so I guess I'll just have to live with this. But it's still annoying to get this sound if the wifi DC's for half a second.
Rubber around the edges of the screen coming loose. I got the bronze coloured model and if you look just at the edge of the screen there's a millimeter thick bronze frame, and between that frame and the screen some sort of black rubber or adhesive is starting to come loose. I noticed this about 2 weeks ago and I thought it was a hair that had become stuck and as I started pulling about 5 cm of black rubber came loose along the screen. I think the rubber casing that was with the phone is the culprit, because when your phone is in your jeans for several hours a day the "case" seems to dig just at the edge of the screen which could cause this. The rubber that has come loose was not visible before and it's not visible that it was been removed either.
Google Assistant opening seemingly randomly. I have two phones on my computer table just to the left of me, both with Android Nougat installed and Assistant enabled. Sometimes I sit in complete silence and play PC games, only with audible key clicks and Google Assistant will open on my Nokia 7, yet it has never happened on my other phone (Galaxy s8+). It's spooky in more ways than one.
The 3.5mm jack port is behaving weirdly. I've tried with 3 different headphones and it's always the same. I need to push, pull and turn before the headphones get properly connected and still then they can get disconnected at any moment. You can probably imagine how much of a nuisance that is if people around you don't agree with your musical taste. (hint: train rides.)
This may seem like a long list but my overall impression is still largely positive, especially when it comes to lack of bloatware, duplicate apps and the battery life is outstanding.
The headphone thing I find as well but I have a carbon fibre case on my 7+ and this is what causes it as if I remove the case the problem does not manifest. The other things you mention I have never had. I have the TA-1055 UK version since its release.

I really don't recognize any of your complaints. I can't type a long search query in the adressbar in Lightning, but that's about it. Maybe you should RTM your device.
The ghost notification sounds annoys me as well.
My headphone jack works fine.
Issues I have:
Ui stutter/lag compared to other phones.
Phone showing as uncertified in google play store.
Not getting android updates (still on may patch).
Battery not as good as expected for the battery size the phone has.
Don't experience any of the above issues here. Fully reset you phone or RMA.

For the stutters you can try this:
Nokia 5,6,7 Plus etc, tips for laggy interface.
Go to:
Menu/Applications/ (3 dots) Show system
Find:
CustManager DeviceMonitorControl Stability Monitor PowerMonitor Power saver CustManager Caivs Battery protection
In each app:
Modify system settings : no Draw over others apps : no Reboot

Thanks, did the first part and saw an improvement, but will this impact battery life? Because I will gladly keep the stutters if I lose my almost 2 days bat life
About a week since I have received the phone.
The mobile connection is usually 4g+ to 4g. depending on where I am I guess. However, I have noticed that on phone calls, the icon changes to hspa+
I don't notice any speed change but I'm guessing this is related to no support for VoLTE?
Also, I notice that from wifi to mobile transition occurs very sluggishly. Sometimes on banking applications the wifi doesn't work which is odd, but it doesn't connect to mobile on the fly either. Usually I have to turn off the wifi for it to work.
I've also had some weird experiences with my N7 plus.
1. Headphones do not work randomly. When this happens only the speakers work the ear piece on the phone doesn't work as well. Phone needs to be rebooted to fix this.
2. Some apps, such as Prime music and Quora, do not work when connected to the TP link ADSL router aty home. The iOS versions of the same apps work from the same router. Apps on the Nokia start working only when I connect to mobile data or office WiFi.

Volte is a mess on Android. In the UK it mostly only works on iphones or Android devices bought directly from the network who modify the firmware.
That said I'm on BT Mobile in the UK (uses EE network) and Volte and wifi calling work well based upon my experience so far using Oreo 8 with July updates.
Since the day I started playing PUBG, the call speaker is acting quite weird. Many times when I get a call, the speaker will be automatically turned on, but it doesn't show that. I have to turn it on and back off to hear it from the earpiece. It mostly happens when I'm in a game. But it has happened other times as well. I don't know if it is a problem on just my phone or android in general. Anybody have any fix for this?

When I take some pictures or have a video call, the phone warms up so fast. Is it a normal thing for pixel 3?
Yes, the theory is the all glass back is more insulating than the old metal backs of the P1 and P2 series, meaning that you will feel more heat on the device as it is slower to release it to the air than metal. This is normal and nothing for you to worry about. The phone will shut off automatically to protect itself if it overheats.
Same experience here. Phone also slows down to a crawl and apps start stuttering.. is this phone thermally compromised somehow? It reminds me of the 810 and Nexus 5X days.. at double the price

This sounds more like a combination of the heat and the memory management issues that users are facing. If I have music playing and open the camera, Spotify closes. If I take a photo and then try to go do something else while it's processing the photo(s) it stutters for a few seconds.
Android Auto crashes itself without doing anything, but that's been happening for a few months and did so on my Pixel 2 XL, too.

Android Auto seems to be a resource hog in general. My Pixel 2 would close AA if my screen turned off for more than 1 min.
My pixel 3 routinely displays the overheat message and slows down to a crawl after ten to fifteen minutes of a video call. The first time it even made a weird hissing sound. Have a replacement arriving for a different issue and hoping for better thermals.

It definitely runs cooler than the first one. The overheating was specifically in 3rd party apps such as LINE and Skype. The latest system update seems to have addressed this. The phone now runs much cooler during video calls in those apps. I'm still happy I got rid of the first one as it generally ran very hot compared to this replacement!

Hi,
I have been using my Xperia 5 III for a week now. Everything is well but the phone overheats when going about completely normal day to day tasks. Just the use of a slightly more intensive application like Uber heats the phone up.
When this happens, the screen automatically drops to 60Hz. I cannot seem to disable this 'feature'. While charging, needless to say, the phone pretty much stays in 60Hz for the first half of charging time due to overheating.
Is the above normal? I don't seem to see any background updates. I would not mind the overheating if the display would just remain at 120Hz. Will rooting or modding be able to overcome this?
Cheers!
not at my dayly use of the X5 III
just went hot at first day of many installations but after than not anymore.
Found a good solution to the overheating: rooted (Magisk) and used Franco Kernel Manager to disable the big core and a couple of the middle ones, thing still absolutely flies, and now never gets hot.

Nothing intensive. Just Uber, Teamviewer and Google Maps. Surprisingly, games do not get the phone hot. I have tried both the German and Hong Kong Xperia 5 IIIs. Same for both.

Can say the same. Many reboots, fastboot, flashmode and back and my Phone is "cold".
Had never a Problem with hot or warm device
And still, having to root and disable a core or something isn't a solution I'm content with. Especially because the 5 II didn't have those problems. I understand they do this to preserve the battery but honestly it didn't really matter with my old phone and I used it a lot when it was hot.
I recently upgraded my 5 II to a 5 III and although I still don't wanna believe it, it's getting pretty obvious that the phone throttles the FPS from 120 to 60 Hz. The Xperia 5 II only did this sometimes when you were charging and gaming simulatenously.
However with the 5 III it sometimes tends to throttle just when you are surfing through the net or using some apps. During gaming without charging it also throttles often.
mine got super hot in like 5 min of instagram or youtube vids. It also tends to get hot and throttle a bit on music playback, i'm starting to assume that is not normal
I haven't noticed any of those with my 5III. It has behaved like my 5II for the last 6 months. Only issue I've had with heat is if I'm shooting a lot of 4k video with the CinePro app in the direct sunlight in the Texas summer.
Only gets hot when streaming.
Besides that, Ive never seen the hot temps message pop up.
