I am not responsible if you brick your phone. You should have some working knowledge about your phone as well as rooting and flashing.
I did this on Stock KitKat 4.4.2 NE2.
1. Download attached .zip file and place all APKs onto your phone's internal memory.
2. Root the phone on Stock NE2 using Towelroot.
3. Install SuperSU
4. Install RegionLock Away, Busybox and Safestrap.
5. Go into 'Download Mode' on your phone
8. Fire up ODIN and place modem.bin into "PHONE" field. Press "START"
9. Run RegionLockAway 1.3 and after it does its magic reboot phone.
10. Go to Safestrap recovery on your phone
11. Install NE2 modem (this will put your phone back to NE2 baseband)

Hi, I am not very savvy to this. Can you please help me to go thru all the steps in a detailed manner...
Thank you so much

Im having some problems. My i337z has TWRP recovery installed. I don't have a stock recovery to flash to the phone to get rid of TWRP. It was also on ND3 before trying this process. I followed the steps above, but Safestrap fails to install. I assume this is because I already have TWRP. I tried flashing the NE2 modem zip file in TWRP, and it looks like it works, but when I check my baseband, it says it is on MH1. Any suggestions on how to flash the NE2 modem? I tried flashing the NE2 modem.bin file from the I337z_NE2_Modem_safestrap_flashable.zip file in Odin, but it fails. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, after running regionlock away, I no longer get the unlock code screen when I have a foreign SIM installed, but my phone goes into a reboot loop for a few iterations. Once it stops rebooting, it won't connect to the non-Cricket network.

I got the Samsung Experience guy at Best Buy to flash my phone, so now it's on stock firmware with NE2 and unlocked. The issue I'm having is that I only get LTE data on T-mobile, even though T-mobile has strong 3g data in my area. I enabled AWS bands using QPST via this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269. If I change my network settings to WCDMA preferred or GSM only, I get no data on T-mobile, but calling works.. Any ideas on why I can't get 2g or 3g data on T-mobile? T-mobile 2g and 3g data work fine on my Nexus 4.

Just a noob thing I wanted to comment on as far as the instructions go because I initially couldn't get safestrap to install recovery (because I'm a noob). Busybox installs automatically after installing one of the other apk files so don't specifically look to find it in the zip file provided... Anyway, you MUST open busybox and do a "second" install from within the busybox app which it automatically prompts you to do. Simply having the apk installed is only halfway there. Also, I had to "install recovery" in safestrap, click "reboot to recovery", recovery did not show, open safestrap again, click "install recovery" again and then click "reboot to recovery" a second time and finally it worked. If you don't get "State: Installed" in safestrap, try reinstalling busybox from the play store, open it and do the secondary install thing again. Then go thru the safestrap stuff again...
Also in odin the "phone" field was labeled "CP" for installing the modem.
Hope that helps for anyone that stumbles in here...
I'm now using my Cricket i337Z on Straight Talk with a Tmobile sim card and getting LTE...

go samsung kies and go to one of the firmware settings and itll ask you for you model number and serial number s/n and it should download your original os back but itll factory reset your phone

should it get stuck on 'File analysis' for an extended period of time? it's been about 5 minutes and hasn't moved at all.
UPDATE: Now when I try to flash the modem.bin file I get an error on my i337z that says 'secure boot fail : mdm'

[Root Access] SM-N915R4 (US Cellular -- Android 4.4.4)

Well I spend a few days (got the Edge on Monday) looking for people that could confirm Root on the US Cellular version of the Note Edge and found literally NOTHING......So I decided to just play around with it and hope for the best (Note - This is NEVER a good idea).
Anyway, after about 4/5 failed attempts at flashing via Odin, and then an hour worth of freaking out when I tried to just boot back into the Android OS (of course it gave me the error and to connect to Kies to restore......which I did not have a restore for), I tried one last Hail Mary and it actually worked!!
Not sure how many US Cellular users we have around here in the first place (the N915R4), but it can also be rooted (at least on Android 4.4.4)
....Sorry if this is old but it was new to me and very exciting (since I thought I may have broken my brand new Edge, lol)

Step One - Get yourself the CF-Root files for the N915R4 ( https://download.chainfire.eu/688/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-tblteusc-tblteusc-smn915r4.zip )
Step Two - Using Odin (Right click and RUN AS ADMIN) select the CF-Root file as your "PDA" file, Now you will want to hit "Start"
--Note -- On this step it WILL SAY FAILED...I say again, IT WILL SAY IT FAILED, this is NORMAL SO DO NOT PANIC (I did, lolol).
Step Three - Pull your battery (Since it WILL BE STUCK ON THE FLASHING SCREEN FROM THE "FAILED" CF-ROOT) and then REBOOT BACK INTO DOWNLOAD MODE (If you try to do a normal boot at this point the phone will show the Android Error and tell you basically you need a kies backup).
Step Four - You should now be back in DOWNLOAD MODE with the CF-Root ALREADY "Flash failed" on your device. Now we need to download and flash TWRP for the device. So download the TWRP.tar file ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952595657 ).
Step Five - Go back to Odin and hit "reset" so it wipes out that nasty "Failed" message and re-connects to your device.. Now SELECT PDA FILE AGAIN only this time we are going to select the TWRP.tar that you just downloaded. Now click "Start" and let it flash the TWRP (This will work and say successful).
(At this point your phone WILL boot up and run like normal, but WILL NOT have the SuperSU installed on it or have Root Access yet, it will just have the TWRP Recovery)
Step Six - Now we just need to download the SuperSU.zip ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952597336 ) and put it on your SD Card and flash it via TWRP like you would with any other device.
[Note - You can also add it to your internal memory via the "Mount" option through TWRP]
IMPORTANT - WHEN YOU FIRST BOOT INTO RECOVERY (TWRP) GO INTO THE SETTINGS AND MAKE IT SO IT WILL NEVER TIME-OUT THE SCREEN!!!
I do not know why but with the N915R4 if it goes screen off while in TWRP it WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. You WILL HAVE TO do a battery pull and then reboot into Recovery mode once again.
...This worked like a charm for me and once I installed SuperSU the first thing I did was grab Root Checker and discovered that I was good to go on Root Access. Enjoy.

Ok.Use MY twrp (look my signature) for note edge (you have downloaded twrp for note 4 )
try and report
I had same problems I guess. I tried to root my edge with a properly downloaded autoroot file but got a failed response when trying to install via Odin. Came across your post and did what you suggested with good success ....now have root access.
Question though...why do I need to first attempt to install the autoroot file? Can't I just install a custom recovery, download supersu and install it via TWRP with same results?
RT
Hello!
With root you void the knox trigger, right?
It's able to use service code such *#06#?
Thanks alot!

A Newbie’s guide to install PB1 ROM, root, unlock the bootloader and update to PF4-6

I wanted to update PB1 Lollipop to PF4-6.0 and unlock the boatloader. All that information is available on this forum in different posts, but requires some degree of back ground knowledge and is not always easy to follow for newbie’s like me. BY trial and error, and reading lot of thread postings, I was able to accomplish the goal. I am posting this guide as it may be helpful for other newbies.
BIG thank you to jrkruse, GeTex, muniz_ri, and other developers who put up lot of work. All credits go to them and I don’t claim any credit for anything.
My phone had Samsung eMMC and that is why I was able to unlock the bootloader. If your phone has Toshiba eMMC, you can’t unlock the bootloader and have to stop after rooting installing the PB1 ROM.
You can check eMMC by opening this file “/sys/block/mmcblk0/device/cid” in a root explorer app (e.g. root explorer). If the first two number start with 15, then you have Samsung eMMC. If first two numbers are 11, then you have Toshiba EMMC and your boot loader is unlockable at this time.
Another way to check eMMC is by installing eMMC Brickbug Check from the
HTML:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check&hl=en
or from
HTML:
https://apkpure.com/emmc-brickbug-check/net.vinagre.android.emmc_check/download?from=details
and then running the app.
Install PB1 ROM and then root following instructions from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
Before Doing Anything Please Install The Latest Samsung Drivers SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.0.exe
Installing PB1
You will lose all of your app data and apps installed, your internal storage will be fine, backup is recommended anyways
1. Download G900VVRU2BPB1_G900VVZW2BPB1_VZW.zip and unzip it
2. Reboot to recovery (Power+Volume Up+Home Button) and wipe data from recovery, reboot to bootloader
3. Plug In your phone and open Odin
3a. Make sure your phone is recognized (In the Odin Screen Under ID:COM the box under will be blue with your com port id #)
4. Click the AP button in the Odin Screen and locate and click on the G900VVRU2BPB1_G900VVZW2BPB1_G900VVRU2BPB1_HOME.tar .md5 this is the file that was unziped from the G900VVRU2BPB1_G900VVZW2BPB1_VZW.zip (Everything you do will be flashed via AP!!!!)
4a. This will take a few minutes for odin to load and verify MD5. When done in the odin message box it will say
5. Under options DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING
6. Now click on Start
7. When finished you will get a green box that says PASS!
8. Phone will reboot automatically to recovery and finish updating then it will restart. It may be stuck on red Verizon screen for 10-15 minutes, so just be patient.
9. When Phone has finished loading and has booted up go through setup and do not add any google accounts or Samsung accounts or anything
OPEN DEVELOPER OPTION
Go to the settings menu on your GS5.
Scroll down to the "System section and tap "About Device."
Now scroll down to "Build number."
Tap the "Build number" section seven times. ...
Now back out to the main settings menu, and you'll see "Developer options" listed
Enable USB debugging
Uncheck “Verify apps via USB”
Go to Security
Check the box next to Unknown sources
Uncheck reactivation lock if it is checked (if you have a Samsung account click on reactivation lock enter your Samsung account and the tick should be off )
Go to Settings/Display and set your screen timeout to 5 min
Rooting Instructions
1. Download this zip GS5_LOLLIROOT_BLACKCAT.7z

All the Steps for the main rooting process are done ON THE BAT FILES, READ THEM!!!!
If the root process hangs Close the bat, unplug phone pull battery and reboot phone to recovery (VolUp+Pwr+Home). In recovery wipe cache only and reboot. If phone reboots back to recovery instead, pull battery and manually reboot. Now Launch Bat #3 and then plug phone back in and
IF you get into android and cannot get root, Open bat file #2 and start from there again
If your phone wont reboot, use Bat #4 and try and enter download mode manually(VolDown+Pwr+Home)
When root is finished, pull your battery on your phone. Replace battery and reboot to download mode Power+Volume Down+Home
Use odin and Flash the VZW_BPB1_KERNEL_ONLY.tar.md5 Kernel through AP
IF STILL HAVING ISSUES RUNNING THE BAT FILES, REINSTALL PB1 THRU ODIN AND RESTART FROM SCRACTH
When phone reboots, go to the GS5_LOLLIROOT_BLACKCAT folder you placed on your phone
Open KRoot.apk and install it. Once installed open Kroot. Click The Up Arrows a couple of time until you get to Try It and click Try It and that's it. Don’t click nothing else just close Kingroot. You should now have root. If It says Root not available and the bat said your were rooted Reboot Phone and open KingRoot You should now be rooted (otherwise reboot phone and check again)
Now go to google play and install SuperSU-Me pro app (I purchased this app). Run it to remove kinguser and replace it with SuperSu. After this process open SuperSu and will ask to update binary click update normal
Copy this G900V_Fix Safestrap.zip (It may come in handy later on) to your SD Card and Internal Storage Copy Safestrap_Flashable_Kernels and Safestrap_Flashable_Firmware and anything else you want to install like the below rom
Now go to the folder on your SD card and open Busybox.apk Installer Allow SuperSu permission click on install.

Make a backup of existing Rom In safestrap
Unlocking Boot Loader
Unlock the Galaxys S5 Bootloader using DEV Bootloader by Method 2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
Remove the phone’s SD card. Either back up all the files on the card to your computer or use another empty sd card as unlocker will wipe everything on the SD card during the process.
Copy Samsung_Bootloader_Unlocker.zip on to the card
Power off the phone and insert the sd card. Reboot the phone. Then Reboot into Safstrap by opening LP Safestrap Installer and clicking on “Reboot to Recovery”
Once into the Safestarp, install the Unlocker.
Reboot system when you get the Successful message
You will see a brief “Android is upgrading” screen
click on SamsungUnlocker app
Wait and make sure to grant SuperSu access. This may take a few seconds to come up
type yes in the terminal screen when it ask you (Yes/No) Hit enter on the keyboard
wait for phone to power off
reboot to bootloader (Power off phone, then press VolDwn+Pwr+Home and keep pressing till you see the bootloader, press then volume up) and verify it says MODE: Developer
While phone is still on the Bootloader" or "download mode, connect phone to computer thru USB and start Odin and flash Twrp recovery using Odin AP. Use TWRP 3.0.0. as newer versions have difficulty accessing the sd card. You can down load TWRP 3.0.0 for ODIN from https://dl.twrp.me/klte/twrp-3.0.0-0...e.img.tar.html
Reboot
Note: To re-use the sd card used for unlocking, format your SDcard in android OS, otherwise, use a Linux box and a card reader and use FDISK to wipe all the partitions, then it can be formatted correctly
Now copy following files on to the sdcard
-G900V_PF4_Stock_Deodexed_Debloated_Rooted_ROM.zip (For "Unlocked" Bootloaders Only!)
-TWRP_Prepare.zip
-PB1_Firmware_Only_NK2_Kernel.tar.md5
-S5_KLTE_USA_VZW.pit
-SafeStrap_PF4_Bootloader_Unlock_AIO.zip
MARSHMALLOW PF4-6.0.1 INSTALLATION
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...w-to-update-to-g900voe1-5-0-keeproot-t3149784
From the above thread, flash G900V_PF4_Stock_Deodexed_Debloated_Rooted_ROM.zip (For "Unlocked" Bootloaders Only!)
Reboot into TWRP by pressing the volUp+home+power button and release all the buttons as soon as you seen the initial few lines on top left of screen
Click Wipe then Click Advanced Wipe Then select System, Data, Cache. Then swipe to start wipe
Press Back button
Now flash the above ROM thru TWRP's Install button and then reboot
Phone will hang at the Verizon red screen
NOW FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM “If You Already Have Bootloader Unlocked And On A Samsung TW Rom” section of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
Reboot into TWRP by pressing the volUp+home+power button and release all the buttons as soon as you seen the initial few lines on top of screen (If you reboot into android recovery, choose Reboot to bootloader and then reinstall TRWP thru Odin AP)
In TWRP Flash TWRP_Prepare.zip
Reboot system
It will reboot in to safstrap recovery (watch carefully as Safestrap Splash Screen is visible only for few seconds and then disappears – Choose recovery on the left side of the splash screen)
From safestrap, choose Reboot > Download
In Odin Under AP slot load PB1_Firmware_Only_NK2_Kernel.tar.md5
In Odin Under PIT load S5_KLTE_USA_VZW.pit
When finished on reboot watch for Safestrap Splash Screen and enter Safestrap (watch carefully as Safestrap Splash Screen is visible only for few seconds and then disappears)
Now go to Reboot Menu and click on Download Mode
Make sure in download mode the current binary is Samsung Official. If it says custom, repeat the above step till it shows Current Binary: Samsung official.
If Binary Status is Official Pull battery, restart and enter SafeStrap by choosing Recovery on the left side of the splash screen (DON’T press any buttons till you see safstrap screen and then enter)
Install: SafeStrap_PF4_Bootloader_Unlock_AIO.zip
Phone will Power Off.
Pull remove battery and then place it back
This process installs TWRP 3.2 which doesn't see the SD card. Hence, now we need to install TWRP 3.0.0
Reboot into TWRP by pressing the volUp+home+power button and release all the buttons as soon as you seen the initial few lines on top of screen. Click on Reboot and then Download button. When phone boots into Download mode, reflash TWRP 3.0.0 via ODIN AP
When phone reboots, It may be stuck on Verizon red screen for 10-15 minutes, just be patient.
That's it, you will now have on a rooted/unlocked PF4
2017-01-10: Edited the guide to make it simpler.
Sorry for not being able to answer questions in this thread as I have a very limited knowledge of this whole process.
Great job!
This works*.
I just finished the process of researching everything and installing most things based on the many different threads people vaguely pointed to.
It's nice to see someone compile it all together in one spot.
I previously had to reinstall the full PB1 restore image several times because I had gotten stuck along the way a few times.
The main thing I took from you that was different from other guides was that I installed PF4 from TWRP instead of FlashFire, maybe that helped things work.
*Some tips/modifications based on what I did based on other guides and now partially yours for the last few steps that worked just now:
1. The part where you install G900V_Fix Safestrap.zip and then Install PB1 ROM (VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V9.zip) is unnecessary.
So in other words, after Knox_Removal_SU_BB_INIT.D.zip, skip straight to unlocking Bootloader.
2. After unlocking the bootloader and reformatting the SD card, I'd suggest copying over all the remaining zip files you need for the rest of the tutorial to your device... that way you don't need to take out the microSD card and find a microSD reader.
3. I can't remember for sure, but I think after installing the PF4 ROM (I used G900V_PF4_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip (For "Unlocked" Bootloaders Only!)), I had to reinstall TWRP 3.0.0 from ODIN.
4. Here's the link to TWRP 3.0.0 for ODIN https://dl.twrp.me/klte/twrp-3.0.0-0-klte-klte.img.tar.html
Those are all the suggestions I can remember. Great guide!

In retrospect, you are right that I did not need to install PB1 ROM (VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V9.zip). So removed that part. also made other changes as suggested.
Thank you!

Great! Just a few more suggestions:
1. I think the part with "Once phone reboots, GO BACK TO PHONE AND CHANGE FOLLOWING SETTINGS " (basically the whole part about reenabling developer options and enabling USB debugging) is unnecessary and can be deleted because you deleted the part about installing that second ROM so all that should still be enabled.
2. I'd move the link to TWRP for ODIN from the bottom to right after the first time you mention TWRP (the line that starts with: While phone is still on the Bootloader" or "download mode, connect....)
3. What I meant in my previous reply was that I think flashing PF4 wiped TWRP, so in order to reboot to TWRP right after you install PF4, you need the user to reinstall TWRP from ODIN (right before/after this line: NOW FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM “If You Already Have...)

Made those changes as well. If I remember correctly, I did not need to reflash TWRP after PF4 installation as it was flashed through the TWRP. Thanks
Great thread!
If I unlock the bootloader, do I still need to flash a new kernel from pb1 lollipop to a marshmallow kernel if I want to flash a marshmallow based rom on there? Particularly CM 13.
Nice!
If I want to flash cyanogen mod 13 do I do it after I flash the bootloader unlock & twrp, or do I have to flash SafeStrap_PB1_Bootloader_Unlock_AIO.zip first?
Thanks for this thread, OP.
I know a ton of work went into the methods explained in the threads used to create this newbie guide, but it can be difficult to follow those information dense threads for those of us who only get into rooting and flashing every couple of years with a new phone.
Sucks that Google and Verizon are making this more difficult. I fondly recall one click rooting!
They lock down the phones and load up the bloatware and if you aren't tech savvy enough to get around their locks (or just tech savvy enough to be able to follow an XDA how to thread), then you're almost forced into buying a 32gb phone so that you don't run out of memory when you start installing apps you actually want rather than the bloatware they prepackage.
I am blown away by how much bloatware has been removed from this debloated PF4.
Trying real hard

Hi Guys, Well after much trying I have my phone rooted and the bootloader unlocked. Do I have to load the PF4 or can I continue to use it as it is. Or may I use a debloated PB1 rom? Thanks

You can use it as is.
But since you did all this work, might as well upgrade to Marshmallow.

I'm not sure on exactly what you can flash. I followed this newbie guide and it worked fine. Hopefully someone else can chime in.
As for loosing your work, if you followed the guide to unlocking the bootloader, you now have TWRP recovery. So make a backup, and store it on the microSD, or even safer yet, copy it from the microSD to another drive. If you screw things up, just use TWRP to restore the backup. Even if accidentally wipe the microSD, you'll still have that backup preserved off the phone.
Well, I had the (joy) of working on my mom's S5 VZW today. It was only running KK, so I got it rooted and bootloader unlocked OK,installed TWRP fine, but I tried flashing CM 14.1 (I had the 12/24 nightly downloaded before the servers all shutdown) and after 20 minutes it still wasn't getting past the CM logo. I'm used to these things taking a while, but 20 minutes is way too long. I'm currently downloading the PJ2 Stock Rooted Debloated rom to try from TWRP instead, since I can't download CM13 thanks to the whole CM/Lineage split.
For what it's worth, in the directions above, after flashing G900V_PF4_Stock_Deodexed_Debloated_Rooted_ROM.zip, I did have to reflash TWRP with Odin (someone else mentioned this, too). The directions at that step were unclear; did I need to let that boot all the way up, and if so, how long should I wait, since this is a Deodexed ROM I know it could take like 15 minutes, but it still wasn't booting after 20. So I just did a battery pull, reflashed TWRP, and proceeded to install the remaining zips as instructed.
While in TWRP, I can't make a backup to the external SD card; maybe it's mounted read-only? I can backup to the internal sdcard, which is OK if I ever get it booted up to any OS where I can use a file manager or transfer to PC.
Still, these directions were very helpful, hoping I can get this thing running in the next hour or so... I have to leave tomorrow!
Not sure if @mms2020 is still reading this, but in the SamsungUnlocker app, it seems that "Yes" is case sensitive. When I typed 'yes', the phone immediately powered off and subsequent reboot into bootloader does NOT show mode Developer and Odin flashing of TWRP 3.0.0 fails. I repeated and typed "Yes", then app generates a few more lines on screen, then phone powers down. Now bootloader shows mode Developer and Odin flashing of TWRP 3.0.0 succeeds.
Thanks for the guide it was actually quite straight forward to follow. I have a ok3 verizon s5 rooted w/ twrp installed and bootloader unlocked. Having never dealt with verizon or samsung phones before. What do I have to do to upgrade to a nougat CM14 rom? (i'm mainly concerned with connectivity issues). Since twrp is installed can I just install a cm14 image? (full wipe and all).
Thanks for the guide! :good:
I'm on lollipop, rooted, unlocked bootloader, I want to upgrade to marshmallow and keep twrp, so I don't need to install safestrap do I?

I followed the steps a few days ago, it went perfectly. The root, the bootloader unlock, and the Marshmallow upgrade was all so easy! Nothing like my Note 4. I had to do all the work for that phone. This phone has it easy. It's all done for the users already. All I needed was a computer, with adb, common sense, and the ability to read lol. Anyways I'm on the Nemesis N7 international port and my phone is flying on this rom!! Couldn't be happier with my Now.... what....3 year old S5!

Qualcomm SG9350 snapdragon 820 Root guide for rookies

This thread is based on these two post, but for rookies like me.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/samsung-galaxy-s7-edge-snapdragon-roms-kernels-recoveries--other-development/rom-kernel-sm-g9350-s7-edge-debloated-t3482804 by @travis82
before we start, here's some basic requirement:
1. your S7 Edge must be Qualcomm snapdragon 820 CPU, SG-9350 model better HK version (Mine is Chinese version, but I flashed to HK stock rom, no need to oem unlock, if you need this part, please search online. be-aware, flash to HK verison from Chinese, you must select re-partion option for the first time in odin)
2. developer option has been enabled already (go to settings->about devices->software info->tap build number more than 5 or 6 times)
3. in settings ->developer options -> USB debugging is on, and OEM unlock is on
4. go to samsung store, download crom and run it. (this will unlock your bootloader, lost warranty. so your choice, don't blame on me)
5. back up your data of internal storage and external SD card
6. Samsung drivers has been installed on your computer
7. know how to enter download mode on your s7e: power off your phone then, press and hold vol down + home + power
8. know how to enter recovery mode on your s7e: power off your phone then, press and hold vol up + home + power when you see recovery booting blue little letters on top of your screen, release them all
Here's the files you will need:
1. Customized Odin https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24588232905724860
2. TWRP 3.0.1 with SuperSU G9350.TWRP.SuperSU.tar
this is 3.0.1 version twrp, if you directly flash the 3.0.2 version downloaded from @travis82's post, it will not work, you have to flash the above one then update to 3.0.2
3. The following files you need to download is optional, just incase your phone need to be restored to stocked rom (Warranty can't be restored anyway). (Update 11/6/2016: base on @travis82's suggestion, put the SM-G9350_G9350ZHU2APE3-TGY firmware link below, so you can easily flash forward or backward)

unofficial TWRP by @travis82 updated on 11/6/2016 Check second floor
6. @travis82 debloated rom of October https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862670418
7. and kernel of latest from @travis82 in this post, please go there download the latest Kernel
Now here we start.
1. enter download mode and connect to your computer
2. launch customized odin put G9350.TWRP.SuperSU.tar in AP and flash it. (after this, your twrp interface will be chinese by default, you can change to english ofcoz, however if you totally can't read it, go to flash the below step's update, it will change the twrp's interface to english by default.
3. launch customized odin again and put TWRP 3.0.2 update Unofficial TWRP updated 11/6/2016 by @travis82 in AP and flash it again. (Sure, you have to put your phone to download again and connect to your computer)
4. enter recovery -> wipe->fomat data ->reboot (This step will make twrp able to mount your data partion)
5. enter reocvery -> install -> select the No verity opt encrypt v3.2 and flash it. (you have to put it on your internal or external sd card)
after above steps, your stocked rom has been rooted, and if you like that, you don't need to go through below steps. below is to flash @travis82 optimized rom and kernel
6. put the downloaded debloated rom to your sd card
7. enter recovery -> install-> select the debloated rom file and flash ->reboot after finished successfully
8. the Samsung post screen will be there for several minutes, mine was about 5 minutes
9. put your downloaded latest kernel from @travis82 to your sd card
10. enter recovery -> install -> select the latest kernel and flash ( I didn't wipe the cache, works fine for me)
11. if there's a newer kernel published out, just put it on your sd card and repeat step 10 again, then you will be on the latest kernel ( I didn't wip the cache as well)
End
thanks to @travis82 and @davecotefilm

Changelog: https://github.com/travismills82/twr...commits/master
Short version:
Update kernel and dtb for recovery
update fstab
added modem as backup (so we can restore modems without odin)
fixed decryption (no messages yet)
Noticed now I can use compression without my phone getting so hot it wants to explode or freezing.
PS: I don't think you need custom odin anymore. Also here is the crom.apk : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=385035244224394932
Samsung likes to prevent os reverts ie marshmallow to kitkat. So I suggest you flash SM-G9350_G9350ZHU2APE3-TGY firmware via odin as stock before you just automatically jump to the latest version officially. Here is a link for that also. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=312978532265363995 Than you can just flash zips via twrp and rollback for jump forward and not be stuck because you have a bootloader that can't load XXX rom.

thanks,
I'm trying to get my chinese version rooted. I flashed HK stock rom, but couldn't get pass the crom unlock. Hi travis82, I'm trying to root another s7 edge for my gf, but this time not even s6-crom works. It's showing the same error. I'm really upset as this method isn't working. I've tried numerous times to downgrade to kitkat 4.4.2. I'm curently on Marshmellow 6.0.1. I flash Lollipop 5.0 in odin, bootup phone, run basic setup without accounts, run the install apks batt file then once done press continue to root. It loads up odin puts and tells me to flash NK2 kernel which I do. Then phone gets stuck on samsung boot screen. The phone cant reconnect without booting up? I then flash the PB1 kernel and i'm able to boot the phone completely. I run the rest of the rooting method and it fails. So how am I supposed to root on the NK2 kernel when my phone doesnt reconnect due to not being able to get past boot screen?
Please help me i'm beyond frusterated! Thanks!

Glad to see that you're not giving up.
Look, first you should flash Lollipop, say, BOK3.
Then you need go to settings, turn "developers options" on, go to developer options, turn "USB debugging" on and "Verify apps via USB" off.
Then connect the phone to your computer and simply run adb.exe. You should see a pop-up window on the phone's display, asking if you want to allow this computer... bla-bla-bla. Tick "Always allow" and press "yes".
Now your phone is ready for rooting and you may proceed with those bat-files.
P.S. After you flash NK2 kernel the phone will not boot completely. It's normal. Just read and do.

I was told it might not be working correctly because im using a VM on Mac. I already flashed Lollipop BP1. I turned on usb debugging on and verify apps via usb off. I ran adb the window popup up quickly then force closed. I checked off always allow this computwer after i connected the usb. After flashing the NK2 kernel it gets stuck on the samsung logo screen. In root bat it says waiting for phone to reconnect. It cant reconnect because the phone wont boot fully.

Ok, everything should work if you've managed to flash something and allow ADB connections.
The phone must get stuck at boot logo. It's normal. It cannot boot OK3 system with NK2 kernel.
Once you've flashed NK2 kernel and the phone stuck at boot logo, press ENTER in the bat-file window and the rooting process should begin.
When it ends you'll see something like many "########" and "ROOT DONE."

So how do I get back to KK on NCG? And if I can get the rooting process to work after the NK2 flash etc do I just flash KK firmware and NCG kernel?

Yes that is correct I flashed PB1 earlier. I was on PB1 baseband temporarily lollipop 5.0 which the guide indicates to be on. For the time being i'm back on Marshmellow QB2 until this gets resolved and I figure out how to get back to KK. I hope i'm not SOL! ... Also if I can get the rooting method to work do I just flash the original NCG along with the NCG kernel in Odin or safestrap/twrp recovery?
@bbsc I'm being told by @GeTex that it's possible to get back to KK but I wont be able to flash a KK bootloader.

That's right, of course.
And excuse me, I'm afraid I did for you everything I could.
Try to read the thread from the beginning.
if you don't have anything now best bet is to try and start over, you will have to use a physical machine, a VM will cause issues with this, anything, even an old junky laptop running XP works.

I'm still using stock 6.0.1 with the unlocked bootloader and twrp. Would it be safe for me to flash a deoxed PB1 pre rooted rom using twrp? I'm still working on finding a solid fast internet connection to download it. May have to try starbucks. https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/vzwstock-based-tw-rom-3-4-16-t3329029
If that's not an option then I will have to wait till mid January and ask my folks if I can borrow their windows computer when I go to visit them. I dont have the money right now to spend on a computer. If I have to go back to the stock PB1 firmware thats unrooted and the rooting method works then do I just install safestrap and restore my KK NCG backup or do I have to flash stock NCG?
When I flashed my NCG backup on 6.0.1 in twrp I got back onto KK but the phones hardware wouldn't work.

I've read over the directions numerous times. I'm going to try the Lolliroot method when I visit my folks. They have an older windows computer I'll ask if I can use it. For the time being i'm on 6.0.1 MM. Since I have an unlocked bootloader I had tried to restore my 4.4.2 KK backup in which I did. But why didn't the hardware (camera, captive buttons etc) work once done? I even had flashed NCG kernel and modem!
Once I get on rooted Lollipop I can flash with flashfire my NCG backup? Then in Odin flash NCG kernel and modem correct? I hope my hardware will work on phone! I'm thinking last time it didn't work because I wasn't on PB1?
UPDATE
@GeTex @bbsc Just want let you know i'm back on KK 4.4.2 NCG since last week. I was able to use a PC to root 5.0 and use fireflash to flash NCG system restore. When I do my backups now it can't calculate time due to no boot located. I was not able to flash stock NCG over odin however said something about failed aboot. Everything works and functions I was able to restore my November NCG system backup. Thanks for the help! :good:

Works perfect and love having TWRP just for everyone else DO NOT use the 1st link it will download the G935V firmware which will not flash for the S7 flat.
Brother, you might want to check your zips. Your sm_g930_oreo root/unroot zip is missing the BL_ENTER_ENG_RECOVERY_G93*.tar and instead has BL_ENG_BOOTLOADERS_G930?? Also, your S7_G930V Flat Odin Firmware links to the G935V firmware and will not flash obviously to the S7 flat. Kinda important files if you want to use this. I was going to try to unroot and update to the Oct security patch and thank God I checked the required files before starting.
Sorry, stupid question I can't find an answer to. How do I tell what bootloader I am on?

what does post 2 say. If you dont want to be stuck on stock then you are done with updates the firmware in the OP is it that the last firmware that can be rooted
Yeah I know and saw that the 5th character had the 8 so it is a secure bootloader. Trust me, I went back and forth about root and no root. I decided that what little bit I was rooting for wasnt worth the hit I took as far as speed, heat, and battery. So far I am enjoying stock with the Oct security patch. If I get root in the future I may try it but for now I can run my themes and life is good, thanks brother.

Don’t get your expectations up it still uses the engboot for root. I just made it easy to unroot so you can use stock boot. Img

Oh okay. I will have to do some reading on Eng Boot. I'm not educated on what that exactly means. I did successfully use your root method and got to play in twrp which was really cool. I really like the adb tools setup. I'm having a hard time with the debloating. I'm trying to find out what files to remove and keep. The system is very slow rooted. I hope I'm not debloating wrong. Sorry I'm semi new at this.
Just be careful what you debloat. What I would do is go into settings/apps and disable anything you think is bloat then see if the phone runs differently for a day or so. Somethings you think wouldn't affect the running of the system do. That way if it does affect something you can go back in and enable it.

I went ahead and used stock files in Odin to flash everything back to normal. I went ahead and tried the disable method with it unrooted of course. It is running so smooth now. On top of it all the Samsung apps work which I like.
I learned yesterday after all day battling the rooted way deleting bloat that you are correct. There are issues from deleting things that you think would never cause issues. My phone instantly would lock up and the battery was draining super fast. It was not worth it.
I will take your advice. Thank you!!

So what kinds of things would I be able to do with root that wouldn't get changed back once I unroot?

That is good advice. I used the 'pm uninstall' method to debloat tons of Samsung stuff. Now I occasionally get random battery drains. Time to factory reset. I should have just left it, because my wife has an international Exynos S7 with nothing debloated, and it runs perfect.
