Ink Effect

Hello!
I have seen a nice Ink Effect on Youtube. It is from the Samsung NoteII.
Is it possible to convert this nice feature to our Samsung S4?
Here is the Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdQ7aCzG9zk
Greetings Hollux

it gives a hidden menu on S4 which u can find over a Shortcut app from the Market. In this hidden Menu u can choose the color of the effect, but it doesent work, i tried it few times.
It could be possible that u need a pen for this for working, but im not sure. Can some one test it with a pen for the S4?
When some needs help to find the hidden menu, let me know i will post it than later, now its too late and i must sleep.

S4 doesn't have a sensor for the pen, so if it works, it works without pen

seems to be a little bit tricky which this guide and im not so safe in editing such files from may S4.
I think there must be an easy way to get, cause the color menu exist on the phone just hidden, so i think it would be only needet to unlock the mode for color like in on part of the guide.
Would be awesome when some could create something flashable.
btw., here the way to the hidden menu:
get QuickShortCutMaker from google play than Search under Settings for this :
com.android.settings/com.android.settings.InkeffectPreview
it give it twice one for smartphone one for tablet in window mode. Hope someone can work with it.

[MOD][Xposed] Screen Tweaks

Hello fellow Xperia Z1c users,
I just wanted to let you know that I made a module for the Xposed framework where you can change the following things:
Enable the CRT screen off animation.
Prevent the screen from turning on if device is connected to or disconnected from charger or dock.
Hide the "Swipe to unlock" text from the lock screen.
Hide the camera icon on the lock screen
Hide the carrier label on the lock screen of some Xperia devices
Hide the sparkles effect on the lock screen of some Xperia devices
The module thread is here, the repository page is here.
Give it a try and let me know what you think (you need to be rooted to install the framework).
I suppose it would work on other Xperia devices also, maybe I should post this in the cross device development forum?
Works on xperia Z1

Thanks it work with romaur 3.0 ?

Great mod, nothing superfluous!
If I were to request an addition, it would be the option to disable carrier text on lock-screen.

Big thx

Q. How to make a theme without using app Theme Editor

Hi everyone, I was searching about a guide or something that can help me to create a theme and I have found nothing, what tools to use, is it hard to make a theme?
My reason to ask this is that I like almost all themes I've seen in this forum, but also there are things I like less (for example I like a lot the statusbar of "x" theme but I like less that the number pad in the phone looks like an IPhone, for saying something)
In terms of icons/ wallpapers/ lockscreens, well, i can use Theme Editor, or the Theme app, but in case I want to theme statusbar and the settings menu,etc, I'm lost about what tools I can use.
Thanks

NAVBAR - deodexed Nougat roms how to get pixel style keys visible on any background

Warning: for deodexed roms only – if you are running an odex rom, you previously have to delete the full content of /system/priv-app/SystemUI/ folder
Here is a small tutorial for those who want to use touchwiz nougat roms with on screen keys aka navbar and want to see the keys both when the navbar background is dark or white.
Actually, it is my own design in pixel style to get visible keys in any condition., you can find a screenshot here https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/navbar-s7-edge-nougat-t3572377/page2
Not a great work, just some files in .pio format to be replaced into systemUI.apk….
Well, tbh, I just edited the original .png files from pixel, added a black contour and renamed them as .pio, but I see that everybody is keeping their own knowledge quie secret nowadays lol
First of all, you obviously have got to add
qemu.hw.mainkeys = 0
to you build.prop
Then you might go to /system/usr/kelayout/
and edit
Generic.kl
by commenting key 158 BACK which turns into # key 158 BACK
and key 254 APP_SWITCH wich will become # key 254 APP_SWITCH
These comments will disable back and recents hardware keys, while it is strongly advisable to let the home key fully functional.
You might disable button lights as well, but this feature is implemented in most roms and you can even find an app in the play store (it can be made even through software, but it’d be a waste of time).
Now you can take the systemUI.apk alleged to this post and replace with it to the current one inside /system/priv-app/SystemUI/
You have to set the correct permissions, of course, and reboot,
This file should work for any touchwiz nougat rom.
It is a generic deodexed file and systemUI.apk has been the same since the first release (according to the changelogs I have seen so far).
If your rom has got a modded systemUI with its own features, you will loose them, so I also attach a zip which includes the modded .pio files. You can add them inside systemUI.apk even without using apktool, you just have to:
- rename systemUI.apk as systemUI.zip;
- open the zip, go to /res//drawable/xxhdpi-v4
- overwrite the existing files with the one I supplied;
- rename back systemUI.zip to systemUI.apk
and then you can use your new systemUI with my files.
Now you might see that the touchwiz launcher is a mess and there is a huge room between the dock and the workspace… Well, the matter is that, once you activate the navbar, the launcher detects the wrong dpi… I tried to mod it, but I wasn’t able to fix it. So a couple of days ago I found an easy work-around.
It has got a caveat: it breaks Samsung pay and Android Pay or at least ot should. I am not sure, because I don’t use such services. I posted that workaround in Echoerom forum, but I haven’t had yet any feedback, so just try.
Here is the workaround:
- open the terminal;
- type su
- type wm density 500 && reboot
Once you reboot, the launcher will be ok.
To revert;
- open terminal
- type su
- type wm size reset && reboot
I also attach a modded pixel launcher (to be place in /system/app) which works better than the touchwiz one and doesn’t need any modification to wm density
.
Credits:
- an xda guy who some time ago posted somewhere a tutorial about wm density… Please gimme the link, if you find it
- people from Echoerom forum and Kyri the most since they let me tinker with my phone after a long time

Could u, please, be so kind and release a modded nougat SystemUI with matching colours and original TW navbar buttons? And could u also add the S8 clock mod to It?
I guess it's that what many people are searching for atm.... Colour matching S8 navbar buttons and the modded S8 clock in SystemUi. Would be nice if u could so that!

Thanks for ur time!
Well, I am not a themer, but I might have an idea to get the stock Samsung keys visible.... I will have a look, though I prefer pixel's style ones.
It will be a trick, because I don't even know how S8 keys will behave.... A real mod would require to mess with styles and it's not my cup of tea, tbh. I know what to do, but I am not very skilled with gimp, so it could take a bit of time.
Regarding the clock I don't know, it doesn't look like a very difficult mod and there are a lot of themers/modders much more skilled than me who will release such mod in a eye glimpse
Update: I have extracted Samsung's stock keys and converted from pio to png...Now I can try to edit them

Thanks mate, ofc I understand what you mean. I´m trying to fix the S8 keys for thousend of hours already and no success till yet. I know it can´t be much, but without skills.
Even the clock stole me more then 10 hours yet, don´t know why I´m not able to recompile my SystemUI files. It always fail, no matter if I try with "apk editor app" nor on Windows, always hanging on the recompiling step. I mean I done the whole thing in 2 minutes, but can`t recompile it. :silly:
Anyways thanks for time and effort.

In order to decompile SystemUI you have got to use an updated version of apktool. There is a very good thread in xda.
You have to decompile and recompile using the two frameworks and keep the original signature. It will take some time to learn how to use it, but it can't be done with the phone, sorry.
@lucaoldb
Any idea to swap the back and recent buttons? Thanks.
Gesendet von meinem SM-G935F mit Tapatalk
I think that, once the dump of the s8 firmware leaks, we will have a fully working systemui with the inbuilt option to swap on screen keys.
Apart from that fact, it doesn't look so easy to swap such keys with this systemui. I had a look at navbar.xml (or something like that) and to navbar tuner (or something like that) and they don't look like I expected. I am not a pro coder, but imho some smali editing is required and it is not my cup of tea and, to be true, on screen keys cause some glitches.... Look at the close all button in recents or try to swipe an edge while aod is on...
Getting a perfect integration with the current touchwiz would take a lot of time and I think that's why the guys who could manage to do it are quiet
Anyway thanks again. Hope to see a inbuilt option.

how to turn off backlight with software? is it through editing the sys/class/leds folder?
With terminal
su
settings put system button_key_light 0
It disables capacitive keys backlight.

I already got that overlay but got grey issue. Is there anyway to solve it and be permanently white always? And black when on white background?
I think it's for now the only one solution.

Is there a way to make the statusbar black for all apps?

I really don't like the inconsistency between apps with and without tint or flat style colors. I'd prefer an all black look. Any way to do this?

maybe root and use some xposed module?
there is a long way without root.
- use a apk Cloner like app cloner
- it allows you to create a copy of 99% of apps, and allows a few hacks like what colour the status bar should be., custom app icon, mute on start, password lock the app, etc..
install thec clone and uninstall the original app.
- repeat for all apps and try not to update as often... horrible but achievable.

Navbar Apps may do the job. I think you can set it to globally make the Nav Bar whatever color you want, or let it choose based on the color scheme of the app that is open.
