[Q] Latest version of TWRP for RAZR MAXX HD XT926 - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What's the latest version of TWRP to work correctly on the Razr Maxx HD xt926? I have been using 2.6.3.0 for a while now, but it has some quirks such as the time never being correct.
So, wondering if there is a later version that works OK on this phone. I've tried 2.8 and that's a no go. A link to an .img file would be appreciated. I should add this phone is running android 4.1.2 and system version 9.18.94
Thanks all.

Yes, thank you---that version works great, much nicer than 2.6.3. I did hit the thanks button!

I found that the bootloader was updated between 4.1.2 and 4.4.2. Is there a TWRP that works for the 4.1.2 build ( sha-1e9f557, 2013-02-14 )?

Rooting xt925 on 4.1.2 without unlocking the bootloader?

Is that possible? All the root tools threads I seem to be able to find on here and rzr forum have posts that say it doesn't work with the latest OTA update. Am I missing something here? Is Motorola so actively patching everything that there is no way to get root if the device has the latest OTA update?
Thanks.
Root is still possible by rolling back to the older firmware but you can't unlock the bootloader.

I just picked up a brand new XT925 running 4.1.2 and all the methods I tried failed
Then I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241788 and bingo rooted and unlocked bootloader
You don't need the monster download the Lite edition is fine
Good luck :good:

Oh, since it is a 925 (probably international edition), can't I just ask Motorola to unlock the bootloader? https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
Also, how does one roll back to older firmware? RSDLite and flashing older stock, like on Atrix HD?

Nice, I will give this a try. However, why the 900+ MB Lite? Wouldn't the 3 MB Ultra-Lite work for just rooting and unlocking the bootloader? Or did you have to use the stock stuff as well?
Also, did you try the Toolkit 4.0? Did that fail as well? As far as I can see, both use the same methods for unlocking and rooting!
Cant remember now, I tried all the others and none worked and I stumbled across it
I think the micro download was not enough (sorry cant recall what extra was needed) but I remember on the micro the numbers on the menu did not match with the commands (look at the batch file) but the normal was fine
Is yours the developer edition? Otherwise no they won't unlock it.

But this is what it says on the Motoroala page:
Currently, the Photon Q 4G LTE, DROID RAZR M(Developer Edition), DROID RAZR HD(Developer Edition CDMA-LTE), MOTOROLA RAZR HD (Rest of World -UMTS/LTE), MOTOROLA RAZR HD (Rogers Canada - UMTS/LTE) and MOTOROLA RAZR i are supported by the Bootloader Unlock site.

Maybe. Try the process and find out. Lol

You should have received an email with your Unlock Key. If you did not, check you spam folder. Inside the email is a UNIQUE_KEY, a 20-character alphanumeric code that you will use to unlock your device.

Noob here. So I just got my RAZR HD today and it is on 9.20.1. Will this be able to restore my phone back to 9.16? Then will I be able to root?

What is the answer in all the other 30.1 threads? Also, is your bootloader unlocked?

Best path to get current.

Hi,
My wife has this phone and I'd like to get her updated to a more current rom, preferably CM 11.
She's currently bootloader unlocked with twrp 2.5.0.0 and running an older 4.3 rom based on cm 10.2 (eclipse). Baseband is vanquish_bp_100730.160.64.15p
We never took the update that got rid of the root or bootloader unlock, but now I hear that's been unlocked again so I figured its time.
Should I just fastboot back to stock and update or is there an easier way for us still unlocked users to get a current twrp and CM 11? Please advise.

you could use this, it will take you str8 to KK. there are other methods and rsd, but i find this easiest, and i maintain it
i highly recommend using the "data wipe" script, given your situation.
afterwards, install your recovery and flash su.zip.
Profit

there are snapshots and stable builds for the jelly bean boot loader but not kit kat yet
So if I upgrade to the kk bootloader, and then root with that utility, will my bootloader still be unlocked? What version of twrp should I install? Should I just chill out on stock with root and unlocked until CM11 is stable?

Or, better yet, are those stable CM11 builds for the jb bootloader any good? I wasn't able to flash them in the older twrp... How can I get the latest twrp for the jb bootloader and get one of those cm11 snapshots on the phone?

i think your best option is to go to stock kitkat but the twrp from your post above will not work it is for the kitkat boot loader but do what you think is best.

Yes, once the bootloader has been unlocked, you could have taken the 9.18 OTA, which patches the EXPLOIT allowing the unlocking, and you still would have been unlocked.
If you took the KitKat OTA, you would still be unlocked. Once unlocked, it stays unlocked since it's a physical change in the phone (blowing an eFuse). You can't set the eFuse to an unblown state. Kind of like a light bulb or the old screw-in fuses for a fuse box in your house. Once the filament in a light bulb breaks, or the fuse blows, it's "blown" for good.
So, once the bootloader was unlocked on your wife's phone, you could have taken any OTA and you would have been safe. No need to go to KK OTA and then unlock it again because it's still unlocked.
You've been safe this whole time.
I ended up putting the latest snapshot build of CM11 on after using the utility to flash a newer twrp. Working like a champ. I'll wait for cm11 to get stable on the kk bootloader before upgrading that. Thanks for all the help!

I have all ready tried there only one I have seen and tested is rogers. The only reason I am looking for it is that I need to update to kitkat and get the 4.4 boot loader so I can get the latest version of CyanogenMod. any other way to do it would work to but It needs to be for the XT925 Not the XT926.

I have flashed CWM fist and tried to install CM12 but it failed and displays that I need 4.4 bootloader, which I found out while searching that I need to install kitkat fido update first but I installed CWM before doing the up date and now I am unable to get 4.4 bootloader without removing CWM and from what I can find I need to flash the stock fido rom in order to remove CWM.
Just flash and then OTA update to 4.4.2 from http://web.archive.org/web/20130817...12.2_CANADA_VANQJBLTEFRCI_P004_CFC_fb.xml.zip
Rogers or Fido, it shouldn't matter.
