[Q] Omni ROM flashing Fail. - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to flash the latest nightly Omni KK 4.4.4 ROM onto my N8010 using TWRP recovery but keep getting a Fail. Can anyone offer a reason and a possible resolution to this?
Thanks

Don't know what the issue could be. Was there any info in the log?

I'm sorry I don't know what that means.

What does TWRP say when it fails?

After I swipe to flash the ROM it comes up FAILED in red.

Sounds like a corrupted download.

[Q] TWRP does not mount

Hi
I have installed the JB version of TWRP 2.5.0.0 Touch Recovery! via fastboot. Before that, I had the latest Asus 4.2.1 rom installed.
Now it boots into TWRP but it can't mount anything.
Please help. Thank you very much.

Sounds like you flashed the incorrect twrp... AFAIK there is no fix for this. You should have actually read first.
You can try this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2254553

Well you somehow missed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2206566 which is pretty hard to miss considering its stickied... Anyways I have not heard of anyone being able to fix this but I've been wrong before... Good luck!! Sorry I can't be more help than that....

Well but actually I have flashed a 4.2.1 version for my 4.2.1 bootloader. Only that it was the FT300TG version instead of the FT300T version. Still no fix?

Hmmm interesting... Well have you even tried to flash a new recovery?? I haven't heard of anyone flashing the tg version on a t but theoretically you should be able to just overwrite it.. But I assume you've already tried this (I hope)..

That's not what you said in the OP. In the OP, you said you had the 4.2 bootloader and flashed a -JB recovery. The -JB recoveries are for the 4.1 bootloader. Your brick doesn't have as much to do with the T vs. TG mixup as it did with you missing the sticky thread that the warned against flashing -JB recoveries with the 4.2 bootloader.

[Q] Move from 4.0.4 to 4.4

I am trying to get to kitkat on this damn phone and it just keeps bricking.
Does anyone know if i need to go through all the updates to get this to work?
maybe if you have a step by step that would be amazing.
Thank you
I assume you have a custom recovery installed, just make sure your recovery manager is up to date as some older versions of CWM will not flash 4.4 and same with TWRP. I used CWM touch v6.0.4.3.

There must be an order in which you have to apply updates.
Anyone have any clue on what that order is?

There is no such order. As long as your bootloader is unlocked and you are running an updated recovery you should be able to flash seamlessly between any ROM.
What 4.0.4 ROM are you currently running? And are you sure you're on the most recent CWM?
I think your firmware must be up to date as well. I can't remember what the latest is off the top of my head. I'll check.

RLS 16 to [Rom][d2vzw][Official][Kitkat - 4.4.2] - Gummy - Nightly's

I'm currently running Hyperdrive RLS 16 and want to know if it is possible to go to [Rom][d2vzw][Official][Kitkat - 4.4.2] - Gummy - Nightly's?
Do I just need to follow the instructions or is there more files I need to change within the phone? Basically, I want to know if it will be a simple transition.
Thank You!
:crying:
You should be just fine. Just install like any other ROMs. Don't forget to wipe Data. Make sure you update your recovery to the latest version first BEFORE FLASHING since gummy is Kitkat. This is very important.

I'm mistaken...badly. You need to be on TWRP 2.6.3.1 in order to flash any KitKat rom. That's what I'm on. KitKat roms will not flash on anything before TWRP 2.6.3.1.

Yes TWRP 2.6.3.1 is required to flash any KitKat ROM. If you use anything prior you could actually screw up your partituons

Funny I had the same question..
I was going to pose the same question.. Ironically I'm on Hyperdrive RLS 16 also and am either going to the last carbon nightly or maybe something 4.4 ?
My question was do I need to flash the MF1 firmware, but I guess not ?
I loved carbon when I used it before ( last was v 1.7 stable ) but had to flash to stock/TW base to flash my phone to PagePlus and TW is waaaay to clunky for me I can't stand it anymore !!
Edit: Would the new PhilZ work for a KitKat rom ? the new official one ?

You do need the VRBMF1 firmware installed. You do not need the VRUCML1 firmware installed. PhilZ recovery should work, idk firsthand cuz I use TWRP.

Clean flashing is recommended if you don't want to have any issues.
But you're free to dirty flash over an existing nightly if you don't want to clean flash. However, any issues you get are your own issues and should not be reported in the Gummy thread.

Always a good idea to update your recovery to the latest.
Root is IN the rom. I pretty much guarantee that any rom you flash via recovery will be pre-rooted.
If you're unsure of the processes for anything, have a read of all the sticky threads linked in my signature

according to the official thread:
End Of Support
Quote:
Project Status: No Longer Updated
As I mentioned before, I have a lot of new important projects in my real life. I am very happy to abandon this project for real life alternatives.
CWM is a dead project for now, until some dev resurrects it. I was about to do, until these new projects came.
Current version will probably work a while for many devices. Some devices with new ROM installers could have issues. Just use TWRP or the CM Simple Recovery
If the current version works for you, there is no reason you don't use it though. No need to ***** in all threads because it doesn't work for you. Just move on to other alternatives.

but I see that it has been updated 2 days ago...
Philz is good and it works for now. I too had issues with TWRP on my S3, That's why I moved to Philz on that device and brought Philz to the N5.
We may see bug fixes with Philz if the device maintainers notice them. For example, the update 2 days ago was a bug I found and fixed. So if there is something broken, we may see fixes. New features - nope. So lets see what happens when L comes out with its default device encryption. I'm not jumping ship until I have to.

well, most recoveries arent going to be in a flash in recovery form. if its in a zip, you might have to extract it and use fastboot to flash the actual twrprecovery.img or you can use the flashify app(if you have root).

no, its 2.8 http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/205
anyways, im using an old one as well(2.6.something), and everything works fine.
rom and gapps. most roms will need the google apps to be flashed as well, since its illegal to include them in publically distributed custom roms.
the only reason why i havent flash a new rom again because the rom that im currently running is good doesnt really give problems like random reboots
the only thing is its an older version.
and its really tiring thing to start all over again.
anyways any good rom out there?
its close to stock rom with minor tweaks
im on purity rom btw 4.4.2
