Hi folks (my first post!) and I need some help. I have 2 of the above tablets and both are working fine. However I dropped one and the touch screen has a hairline crack although it is fully working.
I have purchased a new touch screen but I am not sure how to open the Tablet so I can replace it. Can anyone help me as to how I open it without causing any damage. I have successfully replaced the speakers on my Nexus 7 but that was easy as good old youtube covers this.
Any help would be much appreciated ,
Thanks in advance

Hi!
I saw few people talking about digitizer replacement on old devices. This discussion about newer devices like Touch Pro2. I have a device which has working LCD but problem seems to be with its touch senstivity. Its not supporting touch on the screen, which as per the original user is a problem of digitizer. He fell the device & got this problem.
May I know if it is a problem of digitizer since everything works completely, all hardware buttons & everything but touch support.
Can you plz help me in this problem, I got the digitizer but dont know how to put it & make the device working.
Any technical help would be highly appreciated.

bump, lolz, seems you guyz are also answer less like me.
Anyone tried disassembling such high end device? or has anyone tried replacing digitizer on his or her end?
I wish to help others in case I get a small bit of information about their personal experience.
Hi,
About 3 weeks ago my nexus 5 got wet, I dried it quickly and it seems to be ok, except not touch.
The screen is ok Wi-Fi 3g all is working.
I could not find anywhere how to replace only the digitizer (adding the screen is quite expensive).
Anyone had any experience with this?
Thanks.

You can only replace the whole screen (digitizer included), not seperately. Look on YouTube for iFixit video`s for how to replace it if you want to do it yourself.
Hi, Thanks for your answer.
That part i know, however it's quite expensive and i have a new device so i'm in no hurry.
Do you think that in the future there will be a seperate digitizer?

Don`t think so, it will stay a one part component.
ok, thanks.
I started to have problems with my S Pen.
The S Pen was working well a day before I wrote this thread.I used it to write my study notes. But today when I pulled out the S Pen,thing became weird.
It does not want to register any touch inputs. The S Pen does have touch inputs on the left and right sides and the upper side. And the air view does not work. When I tried hovering the pen to the sides that works,it ended up registering it as a touch.
Is there anyway to fix this problem?Help is appreciated.
Do you have any replacement tips?

I did some replacement tips and still no help.
I went to my local Samsung store and they say I may need a replacement S Pen.Because the warranty of my Note 10.1 is long over(And voided too by the custom roms.),I need to buy a new one and they arent cheap.
So I hope I could fix the S Pen without buying a new one.

Jerk,
hey this might give you a lead
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=viDDKGPj2FI
it addresses a similar sensitivity issue with the noteII s-pen but, it may help with s-pens in general.
if you use your s-pen alot the adjustments the guy makes in the video may be what you need. :fingers-crossed:

Hi,
My aunt dropped her one s which shattered the screen completely.
I ordered a replacement screen and followed a video guide on how to replace it
(i've replaced screens on other phones before so I thought I could manage )
The screen turns on, but it does not respond to touch... Any ideas on what I should check or what I might have done wrong?
It would be great to be able to give her the phone back as a christmas present so any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks and happy holidays!
Sorry for the late response, so I don't know if this still pertinent to you, but did you replace just the screen or the whole screen + digitizer? If only the screen, the digitizer might be broken making the touchscreen not work hope this helped
No problem
I changed both:

Hey guys, I want to buy a "defective" OPO for 100$. The sellers told me that a part of the touchscreen (about 13%) is not working. He says it works every once in a while but it is really rare. I was wondering if I would be able to fix this trough a Kernel or a ROM update (he runs CM12S) or if I need to change the screen completely. The guy says he had the phone for 2 months and he hasn't try to fix it because he has an iPhone (LOL)
Thanks for your answers!

Don't think how low u have to pay for opo but must think is it usable
Nearly 20% users complaining about touch issues like
1)ghost touch
2)unresponsive screen etc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/ghost-touches-invisible-finger-t2832822
OPO tried to solve this by firmware updates but they still not fully able to manage it
New firmware with improved kernel solved lot more touch issues but draining battery a lot for most people's
So its u r decision buy or not to buy but three possibilities are
1) buy if u don't care about u r money if problem not got solved
2)buy if screen problem is not due to any hardware issues because if yes u have to replace whole screen which cost 200$
3)if its software problem then u should know most of android rooting/ flashing /custom roms/custom kernels to recover problems
If its software problem then these are some solution

I bought an oneplus one with a broken screen on ebay.
Bought an replacement display with frame and some cheap tools for 50€ on aliexpress.
Replaced the broken screen + frame withing one hour. It was my first attempt to open up a smartphone ever.
Only problematic part was the earpiece, which I almost destroyed.
And also the lower antenna (which is fixed with double sided adhesive tape) bent a little bit.
But besides that it was very easy to dismantle the Oneplus One and to replace the screen/frame combo.
Compared to my other One the new screen looks absolutely identical. Only the earpiece grille is slightly different.
So. My conclusion. If your are able to unscrew a smartphone and are not completely lacking fine motoric skills, you can have a cheap Oneplus One. Watch the tutorials vids on youtube and the photos on ifixit.
cheers!
Edit:
Ah and yes. With my One the screen was shattered and not working.
So I have to agree to my previous speaker. It could also be some other part of the hardware not working. It's always a risk. But I assume, that by replacing the whole screen/frame, probably the digitizer problems should be solved.

I also wanted to mention that I also experienced ghost touch issues with my first Oneplus One.
Thats why I orderd a replacement screen in the first place. Then, in the meantime, until the display arrived, Oneplus released a firmware update and my ghost touch issues vanished.
But. I never had parts completely not responding on my screen. It was "only" a ghost touch issue.
i have it
Hey guys, i finally bought thé phone and the u, thé j and the n keys works 1 out of 10 times. Si it is not completely broke. How tout dix that?
Download YAMTT from play store. Test if you can paint everywhere on the screen.
yamtt
no I can't there is a small bar on the right that is not working
Probably a broken digitizer. I.'ve never read of anybody fixing this with a Software update. On the other hand, I'm not an expert...
