hello, my chacha is rooted and runs fine. I'm still on the official rom, but starting to get annoyed by low memory, and i don't want to install cm7, waiting for the 9.
1. App2sd don't move phone apps, and i already used root uinstaller.
2. Is there any way to get maximum memory.
3. I don't want to uninstall all, or reload my apps.
Thank you/
Partition ur SD card and use link2sd ....... I hv installed about 30 apps and still hv 90 mb free space on internal memory .....

This is the topic on how we can increase the internal storage of our phone which is actually 503 MB only but as we all know that our phone storage is around almost 2GB user available.. which is kind of waste for the people with mem card.. so there is a tool available online which does the partition of internal memory.. and hence we can convert phone storage into internal storage... I have tested this on micromax a89 only and it works like charm can be used for other mediatek phones..anyways so what you need is a rooted phone off course and any custom recovery installed on your phone.. backup using custom recovery before trying...otherwise you will loose all data.. I was using TWRP so I will write according to options in that recovery.. after backing up using recovery reboot and install the tool link given below... grant super user permissions... and a simple menu will come up showing the mem sizes choose any size below 2GB I chose 1GB and kept rest 1GB for phone.. u can choose whatever pleases u.(choosing 500MB will be waste as we already have that much internal space). After that reboot in recovery and wipe data/factory reset remember this is important otherwise your phone will end in boot loop..
In TWRP first wipe internal storage then do factory reset..after resetting using recovery.. and you will see your increased phone storage...
REMEMBER:You can restore your backup using recovery but be sure that backup of phone storage will be smaller than ur new phone storage... and restoring won't affect your new partition size..

Your welcome bro
Hello. I bought micromax A89. I m not familiar how external SD works. when i copied gamedata to externel SD, games is not working. It is working ony when i placed gamedata in 2GB internal memory. But you are saying 2GB is useless if we have a EXTmem card. So how is that possible for you to play big games(>1.5GB) like Wildblood, MC4 with low (1.2GB) internal memory???

Thats really good question 2GB is useless because its very less take for instance max payne game..it has 1.5 gb data.. whats left after u would download and install max payne 500mb.. let me tell u in your opinion can u play more than one game having huge data files ?? Of course not.. so what i did was i used all my phone storage for apps.. viz 2.5 gb after partition.. and then used dan.man 's swap memory thing which makes a89 belive that external storage is internal storage..
..and when you have have mem card more than 8 Gb u can install more than one games having huge data files.. right..so search for dan mans swap phone storage as external thing and you will get the idea..currently i have 2.5 gb storage for apps and about 8 GB phone storage..hope this will help to clear your confusion!!
ALL THE BEST
bro i have swapped the internal and external sd card, with the help of xda thread,so if i increase my phone memory, from where it gonna take take the xtra portion?if external sd card, then if i remove it..every thing will will be cancelled?

Hey Guys .. i am new here ..from India ..
Last Week I rooted my device and sucessfully installed CWM recovery by following the same steps from the youtube video on how to root galaxy s duos by Lev Singh and then i partitoned my 16gb extsd card ( I chose only 1gb which was not enough as i wanted to play games like asphalt..nfs..mc4 and few more ) and then i wiped the partition..factory reset my device ..now i have only asphalt 7 ..watsapp..root explorer and superuser on my device along with the default system apps as per the latest update..but i want to partition my extsd card again but with much larger partition size ..can i make the complete 16gb partition so i can install evrything on my extsd card..wallpapers..music..videos..and games and all ..if not ..then is 4gb the max partition size i can give. .or is there any other method ?
i donot have much knowledge abt rooting..partition and all .,.so i need u guys to help me with this partition situation and what to do after partition ..like the link2sd link all apps to sdcard step..does it completely transfers all movable apps to the partitioned size ? or shd i unistall all apps ( asphalt 7..watsapp) and then istall directly to partitioned size after partitioning..? Help me ASAP !
I hope my question is clear to everybody ..!
and i have many more queries which i will ask in new thread aftr i am completely done abt this partitioning and all .!
Thank you Guys in advance !
you can use only 20% of ur sd card's memory for a STABLE NO-LAG PARTITION.. even cwm wont allow a great level of it.. link2sd links EACH AND EVERY FILE OF THE APP to the sd card.. leaving no trace on the phone memory.. so .. no worries! and u can use titanium backup to backup ur apps+their data if u r short of memory and want to uninstall some apps for playing them in future.. with titanium backup.. u can save all progress made in ur games...
Sent from my Canvas 2 using xda premium
ok ..and where will the backups be saved ? the unpartitioned memory on my extsd card ..and cant i save data of watsapp..and other apps ?
and if i remove apps like paly books..play movies..google chrome by use of titanium backup ..and then someday i wipe the partition and unroot my device..wat will happen ..will i be reverted back to the stock galaxy s duos (by stock i mean the same device before root .with all the system apps ) or will i have to flash latest firmware from sammobile via odin after unroot ?
all the backups will be stored on ur sd card in a folder that u will select urself via tb(titanium backup).
apps backuped via tb have an option for data to be backed up as well only if u r rooted.. so u can backup data and apks of ALL apps..
and if u.. in future unroot ur device ... u will not lose any apps... just the Superuser one.. everythin will remain as it is.. and when u have unrooted... u can restore only the APPS NOT THE DATA! You need ROOT for both backup and restore of App Data...

ok ..thanx a lot man ..!
sorry xda members for using non-english language ..its just to clarify my doubt .!
matlab namam bhai ..unroot karne pe apna s duos pehle jsa hojyga..like ki latest ota update me chrome and play app default ho gye h aur agar me unhe root mode me del kardu to vo unroot me automatically vapis aajynge,..
and to remove the yellow triangle ..a triangle away app is there ..is the use of odin still req or just the use of app will remove the triangle ?

Note.. if u delete ANY APP in root.. then u have lost it.. permanently.. no recovery after unrooting... DONT DELETE SYSTEM APPS! NEVER! and why should the yellow triangle bother u? if it does.. u can use any method to remove it... rooting and unrooting makes just one change. . the su app... nothing else.
It doesnt factory reset ur phone!

total-11.01gb used 12.13mb free-11gb
sd card 2nd part.(93% free)
total-3.75gb used-259mb free-3.50gb (WHAT IS TAKING 259mb if i have yet to link any app to the partitioned space ..and y is 3.75gb not 4?)
system(19% free)
total 1.12gb used-0.91gb free-221mb (which memory is this ..which apps takes the space..how to clean it ..will clean size effect anythng?)

first tell me how much partition did u create? and what is the sd card u used?? the cache memory is internal one.. u better leave it alone... it supports quicker opening of apps...

everythings ok then.. the 16 gb shown on the memory card box is not actually 16... it happens for everything.. in my 8gb.. i get only 7.5 gb to use... in rams also.. for a 2gb ram.. only 1.8 gb is available for use.. so dont worry... just have fun creating links on the partition u made...

link2sd might have automatically linked some of the apps...

Usually this shouldnt really solve your Problems.
Better check which apps uses timers, Services, Foreground Services, Autostart, .. and disable/remove them.
Check your battery stats which apps uses high battery load (which does usually means that it uses high calculations and Memory)
..
link2sd works much better if u hv root acess..!!
u cn save more RAM by using any task killer
or manuly stop service which using high data or ram..

i have my phone rooted , but i wont move more system apps because some might be necessary and i dont want to kill my phone. I already converted some system apps to users apps with titanium backup (is there any difference? ) . And from time to time I clean dalvik cache.
I have about 150mb free on internal space. before I unninstall some apps i had my RAM always on 450mb+ but not anymore. I'll get a task killer , any sugestion ?

Rules of XDA include NOT bumping your own threads within 24 hours.
This is definitely not an urgent problem - you can't install a game, so what ...
Wait and see if someone chooses to help you, but try to remember that XDA is free and people have lives away from here which are much more important.

And now that I'm awake ... you do NOT have enough space. The app wants to install the data onto your internal space (449MB), not your external SD-Card. With older versions of Android it was easier to install to SD-Card - some apps even gave you the option I seem to remember - but under v4.0+ it is a lot more difficult, and normally requires you to install to internal memory first before moving the data.
Maybe someone else out there has a better idea, but I think you're going to struggle to install this. You can always use Google to search for instaling to SD-Card and you will find stuff about
adb shell pm set-install-location 2

but many apps won't like that (widgets especially are a real problem), or will run badly, so you will just have to play and try it out.
And considering it sounds like you are attempting to install a pirated version of the game, I hope that it fails or, worse, you get some nasty malware. The game is only $1 at the moment on the Play Store.
