4.4.4 Play Store Crashes at Launch - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not sure what's going on, but I've tried multiple Gapps, multiple ROMs, but it's hit or miss whether or not my Play Store will actually launch. I get the "unfortunately, Play Store has stopped" message.
I've cleared both Play's and Services' cache/data, uninstalled/installed manually, but still nothing is working.

What version of Play Services and Play Store?

Are you using the correct DPI/density gapps?

Had a problem with the play store crashing even before I changed the DPI, I am using a theme, though, maybe that has something to do with it...let me turn off the theme and see what happens.
Works now, theme issue.

[Q] New Play Store (4.0.25)?

Has anyone gotten the play store to auto-update to the new 4.0.x version? I know I could side-load it, but I was hoping for it to just auto-update to avoid hassles.
I've tried various combinations of clearing the play store and google services data, uninstalling their updates, and rebooting, and it re-updates them to the prior 3.x versions.
Is this just me? Anyone have suggestions on how to get this to update properly?

Well, I'd tried that before, with no luck. Maybe something snuck in before I restarted and it updated to the old version? Who knows.
This time, based on some other searching I'd done, I tried also clearing the data for Google Services Framework, and being sure to reboot as fast as I could after doing all that.
I also went in and looked at the app versions after restarting but before launching the play store, and it had quickly re-updated the Google Play Services app to I think the newest version (3.0.27, matches my Droid 4 that has the new play store). After launching the play store, it updated that, but only to 3.10.14 (I think it was 3.10.9 before), not 4.0.x.
So, still no luck

what error are you getting? have you went to the main settings, app settings, all, then deleted the data for the play store? if you play store stopped working, itll be the same with any play store apk that you install.

Google Play not auto-updating apps

Google Play doesn't seem to want to auto-update apps on my device, it's been like this for a few weeks since I clean installed of YNG1TAS17L, so I have to do it manually. It worked once when I set the option to "Auto-update apps at any time" but I can't risk using this as it would use up mobile data.
Any ideas on what the issue could be?

Are your Google Play Services updated?
Is your Google Play Store updated?
Did you try rebooting the device?
Have you forced stop or disabled any Google service?

Google Play Services is 7.3.29 (That's dated April 21st, but matches my Nexus 7 version and apps auto-update fine)
Play Store is 5.5.12
Also had lots of reboots
Only Google Play Movies & TV, Play Music, and Hangouts have been frozen
Also, my device installs new apps from the Play store when initiated from Google Play on a desktop PC no problem, but all the updates are still ignored, despite needing no permission changes.

Did you try changing the settings to default for Google Play Store?
Clear data and clear cache of this app
Reboot and try
If still it doesn't work, I guess you need to reinstall the OS

Didn't work either, guess I'm out of luck. I'll update manually for now until next COS 12 release

Google Play Store stopped working

I'm getting this error everytime I try to open the Google Play store. Google Play Movies, News Stand, Music, etc all work fine, but when I try using the Google Play store, I get this error and it kicks me back to the home screen. I've even removed my Google account completely and that didn't do anything. Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this or am I going to have to factory reset my tablet? Thanks.

I tried that. I even tried installing a different version on Google Play Store and Google Play Services, but I ended up flashing to the Hyperdrive ROM. Everything works fine now, but I wish I would have flashed a newer ROM. This one is based on Kit Kat.

Google Play Store not Downloading Apps

Hello,
My dad bought himself a Mate 9 Pro in China and brought it back home today. I've installed the GMS from the HiApp app store and downloaded the Google Play store from there as well.
When I try to download apps from the Play store, the apps won't download. It continues to say "downloading" but no progress is being made.
I am downloading apks in the interim, but would be much more convenient if I could take advantage of the Play Store.
Am i doing something wrong? The build number is b156, if I'm reading it correctly.
I've tried:
- Deleting cache and data from Google Play Store
- Reinstalling GMS
- Allowing unknown sources for app downloads (i.e. from places other than HiApp) and app installations.
- Granting all permissions to Play Store and Play Services
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check the permissions in the app settings, make sure Play store has access to internal storage. I just allowed all permissions for the play store and any google related services.
Do not try anything else. I have tried all kinds of solutions including the ones you listed above. Just be patient and wait for system update to solve the problem and download some 3rd party store like apkpure as a temporary solution

I forgot to mention that, but yes, I did grant all permissions to play store and Google Play services, but I'm still having issues. Thanks for the response !

Yeah, I may just do that for now. My dad doesn't use that many apps anyway so I can probably just download the rest of the apks he needs and install them manually as well. Thanks!
