[Q] Anyone have the Limbo apk compiled for x86 Android? - General Questions and Answers

Hi
I have found the wonderful limbo emulator but only the versions compiled for ARM android devices. Does anyone have "Limbo x86.apk"? I think the latest version of limbo pc emulator is 0.9.9. I would be very grateful to try it. I'm ultimately hoping to use the kvm for x86 to have a relatively fast x86 guest OS. Seeing that x86 kvm virtualization should run fast on the Intel Android tablets, I think Limbo could be the answer.
If anyone knows how to compile the limbo sources found here: https://code.google.com/p/limbo-android/source/browse/README, that would also be very appreciated. I may end up figuring out how to compile this as a last resort. I haven't compiled anything for android before.
Thank you!

Building Android source for Windows?

Hello,
How does one build Android source code for the Windows platform? I know building natively on Windows is out, and Cygwin seems to be a hassle, too. I was wondering if there was a toolchain I could install for Ubuntu that can build the code in Linux, but the output results would be for Windows. A pointer to a tutorial would be a big help.
Thanks in advance.
Specifically, I would like to make mods to and build the SDK from source. Is this an easy thing to accomplish?
Found a potential solution:

Compiling Bochs for android

HI guys! I need help with compiling Bochs for android, Bochs is a virtual machine that emulates diffrent Operating systems on android such as windows 98,XP and many others!
Korv2003 compiled bochs 2.5.1 for android back in 2008 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389700
but no one has compiled it since then and we are not getting any new versions out. Me and alot more would be extremely glad if someone that knows how to compile these files could compile the new Bochs versions 2.6.1 and beyond, for android!
The newer versions are both faster and have more features! So please anyone that knows how to do this help out !

Bump
it seems that no one is interested in this project. i'd love to see any new version because the 2.5.1 out there is really out of date and slow as hell. i've read that newer versions are speed up to 50%. i can't understand why no1 tries to port version 2.6.6 to android.

I can take a crack at it. I'm not a pro at porting apps. I just recently learned how so don't hold your breath. I will give it the ol' college try though

Did you manage to do it?
Hopefully someone will post the latest version..
It's already been done. Check here, you can compile it yourself. There's a build file for each operating system and instructions for android in the Android folder. Not my work, just a lucky find. https://github.com/lubomyr/bochs?files=1
tried this version (russian), but you can try use google translate.
in russian 4pda. ru there is detailed manual for 2.6.8 .
just search BOCHS для Android, Эмулятор Pentium PC для Андроид

Compiling a kernel on the device natively?

We have rooted devices running chrooted linux easily avaliable. That got me thinking. I have a shield TV, and want to do some kernel hacking. There's linux with native aarch64 support, so why not just work in the chroot? Anyone ever compiled android kernels on a native arm processor? I'm wondering if I'd still need to cross compile, or if maybe I could just use native compile tools. Thanks for reading, hope we can get this moving. I'm hoping to get this thing a custom kernel for better Linux support, and maybe some overclocking if possible.

What phones can you install Fedora on?

Hi,
Besides PinePhone what other mobile phones are there available where I can install Fedora instead of android rom's?
I heard someone did it with Volla Phone + Fedora. However, I can't seem to find anything on installing Fedora on mobile phones. I can find Ubuntu Touch website where they detail whats supported, that's cool and all. But how to install it on mobiles for other linux distros such as Fedora? surely you can compile some kernel and install other linux distros like Fedora right?
Please help me understand.

pmOS may interest you. I have never seen Fedora on a phone. pmOS is based on Alpine, but anything supported by it has a better chance of running Fedora than anything not supported by it. Some of these devices have mainline kernel support, which helps a lot with getting stuff running on it.

How to install LineageOS on Limbo ARM emulator?

Hello, how to install LineageOS on Limbo ARM emulator?
I want to do some development work that needs rooted Android system compiled with ARM instruction sets. I have used several Android emulators on Android, but they all have various problems.
I don't want to use Android x86, because it is incompatible with ARM apps and will cause great performance loss.
I do not intend to root my smartphone, because I do not want to expose my smartphone to danger.
try finding a iso for it!
or tutorial for it?
I have searched for it in the web, but there are no ISOs or tutorials for it.
there is lineage os 14.1 x86 builds. or other android versions too! but i dont think they will work on the arm version. i used to use boschs back in the day with my old tab. i havent used emulators since. you could give it a try. just search android x86 on google. i remember there used to be versions of limbo that emulated x86. anywho hope it works
Running a custom Android OS ( here: Lineage OS ) in an Android based emulator like Limbo requires you need to install an Android version with a KVM enabled Kernel.

it maybe possible since android x86 iso's are availble. including lineage os 14.1
Perhaps the LineageOS development team should make installers for Limbo ARM or other ARM emulators.

i dont know. maybe you could try gsi's? using dsu sideloader? go search it up. the sucess rate on locked bootloaders and non rooted devices is very low but its worth a try.
IF YOU VOID YOUR WARRANTY SOMEHOW dont blame me please... alr got alot going on in my life rn
Thank you for your help. It seems that I have to abandon this idea currently.
By the way, Limbo x86 emulator runs as slow as a PC in 1995 on my device. (I'm using MediaTek Dimensity 810 @ 2.4 GHz with 8GB RAM.)

yeah its super slow. better abandon this. and lineage os 14.1 native bridge never worked for me. meaning that some apps wont work at all e.g. some games and will crash.
According to my research, the performance of a virtual machine in Limbo x86 emulator is equivalent to about 4.12% of the physical ARM smartphone's performance.
I said that:"I have used several Android emulators on Android.", these emulators don't have performance problems on my smartphone. These emulators are:
VMOS / VMOS Pro - You need to pay to become a member to use rooted virtual machines. Its theory is similar to Anbox.(Off Topic: Perhaps the Anbox development team can make an installer for Android.)
VPhoneGAGA - You need to pay to become a member or watch advertisements to use rooted virtual machines. Its virtual machines contains advertisements unless you are a member. The theory of this software is to rewrite linux's C functions.
F1 VM / X8 Sandbox- You need to pay to become a member to use rooted virtual machines.
V8 Box - It's free and ad-free. It provides rooted virtual machines for free. But at present, this software only supports Android 5.1. This software is only available in Chinese.
