SlimLauncher Translation - General SlimRoms Discussion

FROM NOW, PLEASE JOIN CROWDIN TO HELP TRANSLATEING SLIMKAT TO YOUR MOTHERS LANGUAGE
Translations can not be submitted on gerrit anymore!
Why crowdin? Easy to translate from default (english) language to a different language
- you only have to translate, you don't need to know anything about git or gerrit!
There are a lot more reason., i'll update soon
https://crowdin.com/project/slimroms
Thanks for initial translations:

Just keep the old text for history - won't be updated anymore:
I asked in all my SlimKat threads for help translateing SlimLauncher. So let´s move it here to make it easyer checking for changes:
If there is no translation in your mothers language yet, please download default the strings (right click -> safe as ...)
https://github.com/SlimRoms/packages_apps_SlimLauncher/blob/kk4.4/res/values/slim_strings.xml
do the translation into your mothers language.
Attach it back here in the thread (please tell the language you have translated to) or push your translation to slimroms gerrit for codereview.
For those of you who haven't translated yet one example:
Original/default:
Code:
(...)
<string name="default_string">[COLOR="Red"]Default[/COLOR]</string>
<string name="reset_string">[COLOR="Red"]Reset[/COLOR]</string>

I would change
<string name="gestures_title">Signes</string>
By "gestes".
Besides that your translation is better than mine, I must admit...

Italian translation improvements
Looking at the actual translation on gerrit and at the actual Slim Launcher, I've done some corrections for italian language:
Line 44 (hide_icon_labels_title): it needs a generic description, not just for the drawer
Line 46 (hide_icon_labels_homescreen_summary): better translation
Line 63, 64, 65, 66 and 67: complete translation
Line 70 and 71 (around gestures): better translation
Line 76, 77 and 78: complete translation
Line 85 and 92: better translation
I've looked at Apex italian translation too.
@ezio84 (Ezio Lacandia Bijelkic): please take a look at my translation, I've tried to improve yours.

Good work mate!
Just my opinion: I'd leave "pinch in/out" as is, same for "app". But it's a personal preference

This strings need to be corrected in Polish translation:
76 <string name="gesture_target_custom">Właśny</string> replace with Własny
77 <string name="profile_applist_title">Applikacje</string> replace with Aplikacje
I would commit them by myself but not such power yet
The rest seems ok, not much differing from my translation

Just updated FR, FI, IT and ES translation again: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95747613655049074

Hi, sorry but I didn't know that this thread existed and you already made the translation. If you think that something should be improved - I'm open for discussion I didn't have much time today, but I'll be pushing a patch for those small mistakes. Thanks.

Hey and thanks a lot for your turkish translation!
I added your translation to our Multi-Language Commit and added Credits to the commit message:
https://gerrit.slimroms.net/15749
You can close the pull-request now
Some information (we all started sometimes and learnd from time to time):
- For translation you need to place the slim_strings.xml inside the folder for your language.
For turkish use "res/values-tr/" https://gerrit.slimroms.net/#/c/15749/14/res/values-tr/slim_strings.xml
- strings marked as "translatable=false" shouldn't be added on translation, we automatically use it from default strings. ( https://github.com/SlimRoms/packages_apps_SlimLauncher/blob/kk4.4/res/values/slim_strings.xml#L5 )
- We can not add a pull-request, we need to add from gerrit code-review
Again: Thanks a lot If you have more question about git or gerrit feel free to ask

[[ Guide ]] Installing T9 Languages on Tornado/Faraday

I got tired to be asking for this and realized that if i had done it before on a Feeler, well that must apply for Tornado also!!
Based on Ronswens tutorial to install t9 languages on the Typhoon, i've extracted the t9 languages from imate's WWE 2.0.8.0 rom to use it in Tornado/Faraday devices.
The compressed file contains these languages:
Czech
Dutch
French
German
Greek
Italian
Portuguese
Spanish
Turkish
Thai
Anyone cares to share NRE, RUS or CHT files?? Please PM me and i'll add them to the .rar
Here's the file:
http://rapidshare.de/files/26231202/t9_tornado.rar.html
or
http://www.laneros.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=51303&d=1153264827
Now here is what you must do:
* Extract t9xxxxldb.dll and t9imeres.dll.0xxx.mui of your language to \Windows on the phone.
* Add appropriate values to [HKLM\T9 Input Method\LDBs] and [HKLM\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages] and restart the phone.
Spanish T9 example:
* Extract T9SpanishLdb.dll and T9ImeRes.Dll040a.mui from t9_tornado.rar to \Windows
* [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\LDBs], add string value '040a' with data 'T9SpanishLdb.dll'
* [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages], add '040a' to the list of 'Available', so the data will be '0409,040a' (or whatever your phone uses.. just add the one for the language you're installing)
* Restart the phone.
List of Locale IDs can be found HERE
NOTE: If somehow the libraries don't appear on your t9 after the procedure... you can try using numbers only (i.e. when using spanish, it's: "040a", but you may have to rename it to somewhat else like "0404", in the registry and the archive).
PLease tell me how did it go for you!
here's NRE language pack
uk english
swedish
slovak
hungarian
finnish
danish
dutch
thai
Thanx to: [[ Cold ]] ... yup.. did it myself too
http://rapidshare.de/files/26317696/t9_tornadoNRE.rar.html
that last link didn't work... another?
hi, i have a tmobile sda and am trying to install t9 spanish since it only came with english. does this procedure work for the sda? if it works, can you tell me how do i look for
HKLM\T9 Input Method\LDBs] and [HKLM\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages, since i couldnt find the route in the phones files...
thanks
Does anyone has T9 for Malay. Thanks
Anyone have Polish T9 file?

"0409"="T9Englishldb.dll"

.. etc
entire code list here:

* see LCIDHex value
how to add your own manually?
You need a registry editor.
Say we want to add "T9FrenchLdb.dll"
- copy "T9FrenchLdb.dll" to \Windows
- go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages]
- it should be:
"Available"="0409"
- change it to:
"Available"="0409, 040C"
(if you want that T9 French to appers first, put 040C first in that list.)
- go to: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\T9 Input Method\LDBs]
- add new string value "040C"="T9FrenchLdb.dll"
- reboot

Please guys and gals DO FOLLOW the General forum here because I post a LOT of Smartphone-related info there.
I've posted a LONG tutorial on all these questions some weeks ago. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319353
Hi all,
I installed the turkish t9 file and everything is working.
But I have two questions. I was checking the xml file in the cab, and realized that one registry entity is written as "avalible" where it should be "available" under HKLM\T9 Input Method\MUI\Languages.
I was wondering if that is a problem and whether we need to fix it or not. I also checked the english cab file and it has the same problem.
Now, my second problem is weird. I am using turkish t9, but turkish has characters which do not exist in english. When I create an sms with turkish characters, 1 sms is worth 70 characters. normally if I don't use any turkish special characters, it is 160 characters. You can see that, I prefer to replace those special characters with english equivalents when I write sms messages.
So the second question is, is there a way to edit the dictionary of the turkish t9 file? If I could replace all special characters with their english equivalents, I would be a happy man
T9 editor?
In WM5 I was able to edit my T9 dictionary using a T9 editor tool found in the Windows folder on my Smartphone. Does anyone know where it's located in WM6?

You are right. It's my misprint. If we have one LDB it doesn't make any different. But if You plan to add more languages it will posible not work because this is list of installed t9. Thanks for point me that. I'll fix all t9 and upload again.

Here's a Greek-English t9 dual language pack. I need both english and greek t9 installed on my phone (as many Greeks do), so I made this cab to avoid installing separate greek and english t9 cab files and editing the registry.

You want to help? So point me to rom which contains that T9 language. Eventually find those two files:
T9(LANGUAGE)Ldb.dll - where (LANGUAGE) is ... You know
T9ImeRes.Dll.XXXX.mui - where XXXX is code of this language.
This 2 files are enough to make fine cab.

Basically it needs to decompile the apk files from the JP rom, create the translation directory, translate the text string in string.xml and arrays.xml and then recompile the apk.
Precise information about this process can be found on this post on xda

[Q] Translating a Nexus 5's rom

i want to translate Mahdi ROM to my language i've already contacted the dev and he said it's ok when you finish send me the translations
some of the rom is already translated because it's based CM, but the features the dev has added aren't translated.
My question is how do I translate them? (most of the things that aren't translated are in the Settings app)

In the source code, go to packages/apps/settings/res/
You will see all "values-" folders. In here are all the languages. Find the language you want and have a look in the xml files. Each string will have an id. You'll get the idea..
