how did you manage to get S-OFF???

The Team Win Recovery Project download attached above flashes to recovery and boots fine on an HTC-unlocked and rooted EVO Design 4G. This is without having S-OFF. I haven't tested all of the features, but the USB storage toggle works as well as the basic menu functions.
(I'm assuming the comment above about needing S-OFF is specific to the CWM project.)

That's what has been done to the two phones I'm testing it on, yes. I don't have a locked phone to test, but I would think recovery is locked down on those.

TonneyChan - It looks like only users with mobile service in China can log in to that forum and get the other two downloads (the ROM and CWM). Is it possible for you to host them elsewhere?

does not work on locked boot loader.. tries to reboot into the flashed recovery then goes into the triangle of death....

The above recovery works on the htc hero s (exact phone as the evo design). Do installs/methods in this order: Root (2 scripts known to work), unlock bootloader tool from htcdev, then flash the ph44img file above from the boatloader & twrp recovery will be installed.

As grad said, I told him last night. Or should I say showed him that it works on the hero s. How ever since the op has to link to a **** site you can't register on for anything. Here is my cwm build working on the hero s and should be on the design.

while trying to get into recovery? I get the same thing, but then it still lets me choose recovery... did you remove the ph44.zip file from your sd card?

No, when trying to flash CWM via hboot. I finally just used adb and it worked.

I have a Sprint HTC EVO Design 4G.
I downloaded the PH44IMG.zip (5MB) file and placed it on the root of the sd card.
Then I start the phone in fastboot and it found the image but after it ran for a few seconds it gave an error.
Error:
CID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot
This is what it is showing on the main screen.

Download the PH44IMG.zip that is on the first page of this thread. Inside the zip file you will see a file name "android-info.txt" make sure that it reads "cidnum: SPCS_001". This should correct the error message if you have a HTC EVO Design 4G.

Can't access cwm from Recovery

Hi, I have a problem with my phone i have S-off and cwm and rooted with Busybox and Superuser and Rom Manager. Was all fine untill i did a htc update for twitter, then when the phone rebooted itbooted into bootloader(even though fastboot was on) and now i can't access CWM recovery it boots into bootloader but when i press recovery it just vibrates once and gives white screen with green android man then goes back to bootloader. I have tried flashing cwm update with Rom Manager and did so with no faults but still wont aceess through bootloader.
Still says i'm rooted and S-off
Any help please?

Try downloading ext4 recovery from the market. Find it on your app page, and install the latest touch ext recovery. Far better than cwm recovery.
Can accsess recovery from your apps list then.

Failing that, back to stock you go with an RUU (NOT an ICS leak one)

Keep in mind some DO. I have been using 4ext since it's release, flash numerous ROMS and have experienced zero issue and it has all of CWM features implemented into it except ROM Manager which is pretty much useless and outdated lately. In fact there have been a lot of issues with CWM on the Sensation.

Yep i was a big CWM user up till 3 weeks ago. Been playing with ext 4, and have had no problem what so ever with it. I quite like the fact its theamable. And easy to acsess of your apps page.
And its flashed every rom ive tried so far, with an easy opption to restore only data, saves you having to setup your device 1st boot

Thanks heaps, i will try to running 4ext tomorrow, i managed to get SuperCID without any issues so if i get 4ext i reckon i'll be ready for my first Rom.

I havnt had any issues with cwm on my sensation.

So your wanting to root, s off, and install this custom rom? To direct you to proper guide first you need to know your H boot version. To find your H boot version you pull battery, put battery back in, press volume down and power at the same time, a white screen with information will pop up. At the top of the screen will be your H boot version. Please list your H boot version here then we can refer you to the proper guide for your version.

Thx for the post, if read trough kind a. And its more of a explanation of why and how things work. And at the end there are 3 options i can choose which would you recommend?

I would install 4 Ext cause with it you can flash custom Rom with S-On.

just followed ganesh's guide.....
new to HTC Sensation XE (previous Samsung)
New to ADB/Fastboot (had nice ODIN before)
Wire Hack - not that bad
Just download all files needed and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Literally just did it in about 30-40 minutes. NOT hard, but not easy either
I did the S-off (bear version)(also did auggie2k CID mod) and then his one click root

then you downloaded the wrong version of the tool ..check my guide for the link to right tool ..
HINT: the tool will have NOHTCDEV name in its zip file

A very useful resource, beats rooting around HTCDev for the stuff. Just a note, there's a VilleC2 RUU hiding amongst the Ville ones on the site. That might confuse people if they think they clicked "Ville" so it should all be Ville RUUs and they download that one...How to we let a site admin know to change its category?

Did you have to take any preliminary steps before running the RUU? I'm rooted and running CM10.2 on my One S but have been getting random restarts and crashes for a while now so I'm thinking to go back to factory settings. I'm still S-ON and HBOOT 2.15, but rebooting my phone shows a red HTC message saying it's for devs, etc. I'm not sure if I need to 'un-do' that somehow, before running the RUU?
Also do you know if running an RUU results in the device loosing root as well?

I don't feel like you've really tried to solve this yourself before asking the community to walk you through it.
There are like 7 different guids on how to do this. All with step by step instructions.
We're not going to make another one for you.

flash a rom.
it's a bit confusing at first but read it a few times one by one and relax ..
i'll just tell you the quick steps
1. unlock bootloader through htcdev.
2. root device.
3. proceed to s-off prodcedure, JuopunutBear S-OFF,
i still used the JuopunutBear S-OFF for NO HTC DEV UNLOCK for the s-off procedure, even though i unlock my bootloader( hboot 1.29 ) through htc dev..
that's the one thing i risked, cause i cannot see any method of s-off for hboot 1.29 for htcdev unlocked bootloader...
and a tip for the wire trick, once you tap it you'll notice the screen goes of and a sound that the device is disconnected to the pc, right after the sound tap it again,

can i upgrade without s-off. if i can plz share file link. thanks in advanced.

by upgrade if you mean firmware then no you can't
but you can flash any roms while S-ON(you will have to use the htcdev method to unlock the bootloader)
but in your situation follow this guide to S-OFF

after that you can do whatever you want

i do all work but stop on work which time wire conected or which time disconted. i dnot undearstand. plz help me thanks in advanced

i think the problem is the wire trick timing
are you doing the time correctly?
close controlbear open it again and then do it again

yes this problem wire trick u can tell which time wire conected or which time disconted . can any another way with out wire trick. thanks in advanced.

go to the development section
there all the roms for our devices

me try flash with cm 10 then problem camera not work . plz any one provide me good link plz for help me . thanks in advanced.

redownload the rom
check md5 sums
from recovery do a full wipe
flash the rom
see how it goes
and always have a nandroid backup
