Has anyone found a brick and mortar with the Defender in stock?
I have called everywhere and no luck!
I hate to have to go with the Pelican from AT&T.

otterbox.com has the black defender for USD $69.90. i work in mobile and haven't had anything come in yet.
Got one here in Canada on the 23rd at a local telus store (day before the phone was out)
The otterbox defender is probably the best case for the note 4 right now because you don't have to deal with the screen protector halo problem and have the maximum protection you can get. If you don't mind the bulk, this is it. I ordered a commuter first but I also ordered the defender just now.

I have owned several Defenders over the years and have ripped out every screen protector.
It's probably best to leave the screen protector on on the Note 4 Otterbox defender this time because the screen protector manufacturers still have to find a way to cover the whole curved Note 4 screen.
Just got my otterbox commuter case. Here are some pics.
My Verizon store had both commuter and defender in stock but I walked out not buying anything. Keep in mind that I swap batteries often. The defender is just to bulky to take apart everyday. I also hate the built in plastic screen protector but I love the protection and feel. I also like the protection of the commuter but the case makes the phone extremely slippery. Felt like I was holding a wet banana in my hands. But the commuter is easy to take off.
The only otterbox left is the symmetry but I'm still keeping my options open. I would buy the official Samsung case for half off if it was in stock.
I ended up getting one off Otterbox.com.
Love it but the screen protector sucks!
I have popped out the screen protectors on all me Defender cases but waiting until there is a good tempered glass screen protector.
The case itself is awesome!

You may want to consider the Seidio Surface and in about month order the Convert add on kit which will give you a case w/o a screen protector but with a kickstand and with the Convert add on kit a case as rugged as the Defender. Plus you can switch back and forth between the Surface & the Convert. They also have an interesting car/bike/arm mounting system.

An Otterbox Defender would be awesome so! They are really protective and I absolutely love them! Hopefully if enough people ask, one will be made. Here's the link to request: http://www.otterbox.com/contact-us/

That's a commuter..... Defender covers the entire phone and offers much more protection against everything.
also waaaaay more bulky and waaaaay more ugly.

Why don't you read up on it? The Defender usually comes in other colors. It's basically a hard, polycarbonate shell that covers the phone like a case with a hinge type mechanism and is covered by a layer of a silicone skin that contours to the polycarbonate. The screen is covered already by a built in plastic layer that acts as a screen protector. It also makes the phone water "resistant" meaning you can use it in mildly wet environments like a rainy day for example, but can't submerge it. They are much more shock resistant than any other case and will protect the phone from long, hard drops. Basically, best you can get to make your phone indestructable!

The Nexus One Defender looks much better than I expected.

This kind of pisses me off. I asked about a defender case as well (have had my commuter case for a month) and they didn't give me any info. Now they have the defender available. I STILL have the Impact case too. F*ck. With discounts, i've already spent $43 in cases for this phone and i'm about to upgrade because I'd like to have something a little more 'water-resistant'.

i have the commuter now too but i just ordered the defender with a coupon code for free shipping and 10% off techbargains6100p from the otterbox website, code expires end of this month. selling my commuter in another n1 forum, hope someone buys it
Good luck!
I managed to break my commuter not even by dropping it, I was changing sims and a side piece came unstuck, going to try this defender.
Well, I've spent $85 in cases in the past 3 weeks. Bought a $20 crystal boxwave TPU case. A Otterbox Commuter as well as a green/black Case-mate tough case. So I have plenty to offer up for someones defender if anyones interested
I will be getting one of these pronto. Just making sure the defender is a plastic case with rubber on the outside correct? oh and one more thing does the plastic inside case have a screen protector attached like one of the iphone otterboxes
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Yes, exactly as the iphone one. It's a hard plastic shell, then a silicone cover that goes on top of that. The screen protector is all in one with the hard shell.
I can't take anything you say seriously because your 'signature' is grotesquely huge and obnoxious.
k thk bye
I got an e-mail from Amazon. I believe it's usually like $35. I had a Commuter for my Desire and I pretty much loved it, so I'm assuming it'll be the same for this case. Anyone get one yet?

Got my commuter today, paid $25.00 inc shipping on Ebay. It looks like it will give good protection. I like that it has covers for all the ports to keep the lint out. I installed it over my Moshi anti glare screen protector and it looks and fits really nice. I would definitely recommend it. Hope that helps.

I have a few times, going to jump on the defender. Might as well go overkill if I'll be using it for another 23 months. Was just wondering if anybody has pics of their phone in it. The otterbox website has heavily edited and spiffed up pics?
Took the plunge and picked up the Defender Otterbox. Even though it does look very nice I prefer the look of my wife's IPhone 4. The front isn't even a solid piece of plastic. On the IPhone they had a piece of solid plastic with the holes cut out and it looks fantastic. It does however feel very nice in my hands. The place that plastic and rubber connect together hold very well. I think I may complain in about two weeks about the screen being too loose. Otterbox are suckers about complaints, they will just send you a whole replacement unit no questions asked. Fraud? Maybe, but I like new stuff.
Too me the defender was bulkier thats why I went with the commuter case, but overall they are both very good covers

The ATT store did not have the commuter case in stock for some reason. I noticed that the commuter just has a plastic skin and then a hard case snaps on the back. I'm mostly afraid of the falls and it hitting the corners. My wife's Iphone has been through hell and back and its still in perfect condition with the defender case on it.

It's a silicone sleeve the phone fits in, covers everything but the screen, then the plastic shell snaps in place over the back, sides and top. I coupled this case with an Xtreme Guard screen protector for 100% protection.

That's where I got mine, love it! It's infinitely better than the Invisible Guard, I might add.
I had the Defender on my Inspire. It was definitely bulky and added a lot to the phone. I also didn't like the plastic they use for the screen protector on the Defender. I decided on the Commuter for the A2 and have been very happy with it thus far. Still don't like this stick on screen protector but the case doesn't add much bulk at all to the phone. To each is their own tho.
Soxtron has Defender Series for $29.99
Ok, going to by this phone for my wife as well as a case for it. Problem is, she drops her old phone like crazy and I've had to replace her cheap plastic case on it probably 6 times in the past 2 years.
So what is the most protective case for this phone vs. drops? I've tried looking around, but only see some cheap flimsy cases as well as the Otterbox Commuter. Anything else? Is the Otterbox a pretty protective case?
I like my Otterbox Commuter. I'd say of all the cases available (that I've seen) it will protect it the best.
With that said, I used to have an iPhone 4s with an Otterbox Defender case - and this commuter case does not come close to protecting as well as the Defender case. But, because of the sliding keyboard I'm not sure a Defender-style case would work.
Or at least put the same grippy rubber material on the Commuter case.... That's probably my biggest complaint with the Commuter case, it makes the device slippery instead of grippy.
Regardless, I don't think you'll find a more protective case than the Commuter.
Agreed, I dont think you will find a more protective case than the otterbox. That being said, I dropped my photon Q about 2 feet with the otterbox commuter and the clip on the corner of the screen protector broke so now plastic ring for the screen sits on there still but one corner is flimsy. I can see with more drops eventually the clips will all break and I will be forced to buy another otterbox. The price you pay I guess.

this... no joke either
Otterbox on the following devices (mine and family/friends):
HeroC, HD2, Evo3D, GalaxyNote, Photon Q, Droid 4, Evo Design, Galaxy Tab, and a few others I cant remember at the time but are mostly friends/family's, IE not mine personally, just helped them get their own
I've bee reading some of the other forums on here, and I am having a hard time choosing what screen protector and case to use (which is a good thing, I guess). I am trying to decide between Zagg, Ghost Armor, and the Spigen Glas.t (do I get the SLIM or tR). Which one of these is best? Do they all protect the phone from scratches and drops about the same?
As far as cases go, whats the best case? I've been looking at the Otterbox Commuter and was dead set on getting it until I saw the Spigen Neo Hybrid case. Will they both protect the phone from slight drops? If you have the Spigen, are the sides raised over the edges of the screen and the camera, as to protect it?
I tried Ghost Armor. was not happy with it. Sure it protected nicely and it is nearly indestructible but I found it tended to embed bits of dust that would not come out no matter what I did to clean it.
Today I have a cheap matte protector that cost me about $5 IS on Amazon. Also picked up a TPU case and a hard case.
I always preferred a generic TPU case for my devices... adds very little bulk, makes them easier to grip (less slippage), and better protection than naked...
I am not a fan of those huge, multi-layered monster cases.
Zagg + Otterbox (Commuter) for me. I picked the Zagg because that's the only screen protector Best Buy had and I had to get one right when I got my phone so I can always claim it's had one on for 100% of it's life. Maybe an OCD thing, I don't know.
And right now, Otterbox is the only brand I trust. My Galaxy Nexus was in a Diztronic and cracked from a ~2 foot drop onto concrete. That's probably reasonable, and definitely falls under the category of user error, but it would not have broken with an Otterbox. That's a fact.

For $30 they should be pretty amazing... I can't see myself dropping more than $10 shipped on a case.
I've got a neo hybrid case and ghost armor screen protector. I had GA on my S3. I like the feel of the GA protector, the professional install, and the fact that it has the lifetime warranty. If it even LOOKS like its peeling, I run to the mall and get it replaced.
This is my first Spigen product and I have gotten more compliments on this one than I have on any other case.

I bought a spigen for my Xperia z and it didn't let the proximity sensor work right. You'd get off a call and the screen wouldn't turn back on. Tried to take it off and it cracked. It was pretty thick, not sure if that was the reason but I'll steer clear of one till I know for sure. Especially with the hover features of this phone.

It looks like this may top my list! I read a CNET review where the reviewers daughter dropped her iPhone from like 6 feet and only the screen protector had a tiny crack in the corner! But you get cheap replacements!
I was going to get the clear view case from Samsung but Best Buy didn't have any when i picked up my phone but they had the Defender Pro so i got it instead. It's pretty nice i do prefer the screenless Otterbox cases so its nice there is no plastic over it! It's got a antimicrobial coating on it i guess. I was looking on Otterbox.com and they aren't branded Defender Pro on there it just says Defender and they don't have the same back with the bars its just the standard back. So idk if the "pro" is a Best Buy thing or what
My local AT&T Corporate store had 10 Samsung Clear View cases on the shelf. I think it was $40.

Secondly, I never trusted cases with hard inner shells. A bit of sand or dirt will run riot on the glass back or frame edges of the device.

Buying a case from Best Buy is crazy. That should NEVER be an option. Their prices are high as isht! I saw a basic clear rubber/plastic cover on their website for $44.95. Many of their cases are the same ones sold by chinese manufacturers. They're just rebranded.

Good video. Here we are 2 years later; I just purchased this case for $17 from an ebay seller (still in its box w/ clip) for a Note 9 N9600 (International Unlocked) I bought a month ago (512gb version brand new in box still for under $500). Both the phone and case are great. The hard inner shell's inner back is cushioned w/ what amounts to a "mini-mattress." The case feels good in the hand. Only drawback is one can't see the phone's elegance... but for someone as paranoid as I am about a glass phone, that's a small loss. The screen isn't super well protected if dropped on an uneven surface where a rock sticking up or whatever could strike the screen in spite of the ridges at the case's ends. But I'm willing to risk that much; the rest of the case is great, and most surfaces I encounter are floor-like w/o rocks/uneven surfaces and the case would more than suffice.
For the Note 9 Screen check out the LOCA glue tempered glass option. It's about the clearest and best straight forward screen protector you can get for curved displays. I think it may not work with the otterbox due to the extra size protecting the curve. Personally I would stick the LOCA tempered glass on and then stick another thick flat tempered glass on top of that. It's virtually guaranteed people will crack these curved screens, and very expensive to repair them!

Thanks. The NFC not working would be the bigger problem. I don't want to try and get my note 9 out the otterbox each time at the till.

Okay folks - got the Otterbox defender today and can confirm it seems to work fine with NFC (Samsung Pay/Google pay) at local supermarket till. Also can use a wireless charger on it - but have to place the charger carefully in one spot nearly over the back cameras to work, so barely worth the effort. I can see why people rave about the case - its got a lovely grippy outer TPU skin and the screen is well protected by top and bottom lip projections . Buttons work great and ports are well protected. Makes the phone bigger but I find it easier to grip and use. I can absolutely believe it will survive any fall. This is well armored. Needs a Film protector for the screen though, I want it so keys and change will not hurt it. I fear a glass protector won't work, because its so tight and secure.
Previous phone was a Samsung Galaxy S7 in a clear TPU case. I dropped it by accident 1 & 1/2 feet off a coffee table and smugly thought 'Thank god I have it in a case not like those other idiots!'. I then picked it up and found it had hit a corner and the display had cracked a tiny bit and went permanently dark. Could not believe the phone screen was broken due to the tiny drop and being in a case.
Corner protection is essential. The Note 9 is massively protected in this. I doubt a 10 foot drop would hurt it! Well pleased with it! Even have the belt carry unit with it but doubt I will be using that. The case on its own doesn't add too much bulk and can still slip it into front trouser pocket. Being slightly heavier gives it inertia so it also hard to drop. Recommend.
A year later and this still is a great case for the Note 9.
Simply buy a cheap Loca Note 9 'tempered' glass screen protector, make sure its as perfectly positioned before exposing to UV, and the otterbox case CAN fit around it.
I have tried 2 screen protectors so far - the first piece of tempered glass was not positioned properly, I UV set it (with the sun outside) and a bit of the glass cracked off along the edges when the case was fitted (not the screen just the tempered glass protector) but it was still fine for use for months.
Because the glass protector was not positioned properly over the front camera, it didn't give me a great selfie, so I bought another loca temperted glass protector and peeled the old one off.
This time I fitted it perfectly. TOTAL PROTECTION. It's great! NFC works fine, Samsung pay, NFC tags etc....
