[Q] Unable to mount /system but can boot phone?? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, some background on what's happening. I have multi-rom installed so i have their version of TWRP. I tried to "swap roms" when I installed the new Lollipop because it worked fine so I wanted to make it my primary. Something wonky happened after that. When I booted into Lollipop now it wouldn't start and it stayed on the "upgrading apps" screen for about half an hr. I rebooted and nothing but bootloops...So i wiped the rom, and flashed it fresh...stuck on "installing zip" for 20 mins so I rebooted of course. NOW, it says "E: unable to mount /system".
However, it did let me flash the rom in the secondary slot and I am back into Lollipop but it won't let me flash specific items such as the kernel needed to run L. Constantly says unable to mount/system in TWRP. Some zips flash, some don't. How can I get this back to normal? I may be able to survive with what I have here but clearly this is not a long term fix. How do I remount system?? Helpppp please!

I had something unusual happen

Not sure how to fix it. Before it happened, I was rooted with a Cyanogen rom on 1.6. I also had a black and green theme on. I went to install a new rom called "OpenEclair". I downloaded it, placed it in my sdcard root folder, and tried to install it. I had an installation error and it aborted. At this point, I figured ok, I'll just reboot. It kept me at the G1 screen for over 25 minutes, so I knew something was wrong. So no matter what I did from here on out (trying to perform a backup restoration, flash a different rom, etc), I would be stuck on the G1 screen. Finally, I flashed a JesusFreke rom and it let my phone come back on, so I haven't tried anything since. However, this rom is ANDROID 1.1. It sucks. Is there any way I can get back to either where I started, or even get this OpenEclair 2.1 rom working properly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. When I try to install the OpenEclair rom (before and after downgrade) it will say
E:Can't chown/mod /system/xbin/librank
*No such file or directory)
D:Failure at line 221:
set perm 0 0 06755 SYSTEM:xbin/librank
Installation aborted.
Press Home+Back to reboot
I had this also. The problem went away after I installed DangerSPL which, as stated at the top of the OpenEclair thread, is required to install this on the G1.
If you don't have DangerSPL, OpenEclair will fail to install as it doesn't have enough room to place its files.
However, if you do have it...
I have noticed this with some of the 2.1 ROMs. I think the reason is that, since we flash using an "updater", it wont wipe the partition before flashing. This leaves the possibility that there are old files with different permissions that prevent the new ROM from properly taking.
Boot your phone into fastboot (for the G1, hold the camera button while powering up), set it into usb mode (by the "back" button, I think), then use the fastboot tool to clear the boot and system partitions:
/fastboot wipe boot
/fastboot wipe system
This will clear the "ROM" component from the phone, and you can then go and flash whatever ROM you want. Make sure to wipe the data partition via recovery.
If, after wiping the ROM and rebooting, the phone is stuck at the carrier screen and says "Fastboot USB", that means it tried to boot the usual way and found no data in the boot partition. You need to boot into recovery and flash a ROM. Using "fastboot reboot" or the reboot command from the phone's fastboot screen will cause this. Use the phone's fastboot "power off" button ("menu" in the G1), then boot it into recovery.
Also remember that any install that fails after the "verification" phase will destroy the existing ROM, since you will be left with a partially installed ROM on top of the older one.
Thanks a lot guys. will try all of this when I get off of work. Much appreciation!
Got everything worked out. Just had to install that danger spl :]
Just flashed FastTest rom, pretty freakin' nice I must say!
Is there a way to backup all my apps/contacts/texts before wiping and flashing a new rom?

[Q] Is my phone bricked?

Hello Guys!
Recently i received my used Motorola Moto G. Phone was nice, I was using it like every teenager, instagram snapchat etc. But last night i wanted to install rom on phone. Saw thread about installing everything, root rom etc. with 1 program. I tought it will be nice, so i downloaded it, run, and there is a problem. It was command line tool, everything gone right, there was messeage about clicking any button to continue, I did it and then my phone restarted, but there was like normal 5.0.2 android not 5.1 what was saying guy who wrote thread about that program. So i thought that i will do everything step by step, unlocked bootloader, installed recovery and when i first time opened recovery from bootloader menu it had problem with mounting data partition. I was trying to install firmware roms, but it had problems with downgrading bootloader. Downloaded 5.0.2 firmware .xml.zip file, it gone ok, i mean there wasn't a problem with motoboot.img, and at every single command there was only okay, there wasn't failed, just had 2 problems on phone screen, it was saying "hab check failed for boot" and "hab check failed for recovery". After typing every single command to fastboot and restarting phone always phone was stucked on boot screen, i mean on 4.4 it was stuck on messeage about unlocking bootloader, on 5.0.2 it was stucked on that 4 colors orbs flying around the screen. Then i was trying to open my stock recovery, but it was always broken, opened android with warning sign on it. When i was installing custom recovery that had problems with mounting /command /log /last_log /last_install, and when i was trying to mount data it couldn't mount it, I was trying to format /data and /data/media, it was always going ok and then i could mount data partition, but my phone was still stuck on boot screen. I was trying to install custom recovery again but it had same problem, just opened android with warning sign. And there is a question, what can I do to make my telephone working.
I'm sorry for mistakes, but my english is not the best
Try reading this thread here and see if that helps.

[Q] Help - TV110 (S805) Partition Problems

I have a TV110 (Amlogic S805, 1gb/8gb) Android TV Box. I was trying to replace the stock ROM with Openelec v5.0.8 from Kerber. The update went fine until it rebooted to launch Openelec then it hung at the Openelec logo for over an hour. I thought the box was hung so I removed power and rebooted. It hung again in the same place so I decided to use the reset button to launch recovery. I must have cycled power too quickly because it would only show the boot logo and would go no further. Something was seriously wrong with the box.
I created a bootup SD card with TWRP recovery on it. I booted up into TWRP 2.8.6 without any issues but could not restore any of the partitions. TWRP was getting errors trying to mount all the partitions. I figured I could go back to stock (I have a NAND backup). When I try to wipe or restore it fails because the partitions are not mounted. I tried to install the old firmware using the install from TWRP and I get "Error executing updater binary in zip".
At this point I am stumped. What do I do next?? How do I get my box bootable again?? Can I somehow re-create the partitions??
Any help would be appreciated.

Help Galaxy S4 T959V Stuck at TKIP after flashing to Vallaha Black Final

I rooted my phone and worked like a charm. I installed Kernel bhundven-blastoff-v2.5.zip I then installed Final-Fixed.zip vallaha final. I am now stuck at booting to TKIP since i had CWM installed but i guess i installed TKIP over it when i tried to fix it. But i cant get CWM to boot it just always boots to TKIP. I say reboot it says i am not rooted now and asks to install superuser i say yes it reboots back to TKIP each time.
Update: my ocd came upon me i used odin and flashed to stock. It now boot loops i can get odin to see the device still and default recovery works only now. I update with odin it gives failed to mount /data invalid argument.
delete data files cant mount /data your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu to format and reboot actions. Fails on updating filesystem to cant mount and wiping cache fails. I made a huge mess lol i did other phones in the past never an issue but i googled for 2 days to prep for this stuff but first fail at a mod. I am clueless how to fix this now any help?

Hmm, I supposed you meant TWRP, not TKIP? TKIP refers to (according to Wikipedia, either an encryption method for Wi-Fi or the Communist party in Turkey...)
Anyway, if you can still get into Odin, you're not dead yet. Could you please post a list of the files you're using in Odin to get back to stock? My bet would be that you're not using a data.rfs and/or a cache.rfs.

Stuck on BlissPop loadscreen. Help.

Hello! I installed BlissPop on my tablet before getting the new one from the callback program. This worked fine for several months, until suddenly the tablet decided not to boot.
The current situation:
The tablet boots onto the Nvidia logo, stays there for about 3 mins, then starts booting BlissPop. The boot is then stuck at the BlissPop animated loading screen. (It does not freeze the tablet or anything like that)
The tablet is not bricked (I think). I do not get the bricked error when checking on serial number. I dont remember which version of BlissPop i flashed over half a year ago.
What I have tried:
1) Flash a new custom ROM through Recovery, installing from zip through adb. I get an error while installing from zip:
- mount: failed to mount /dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/UDA at /data: Invalid argument.
- unmount of /data failed; no such volume.
- Patching system image unconditionally
Also, I cannot mount /data or /cache from CWM. Is my partition table messed up?
2) Flash to stock recovery image, through fastboot.
These steps always end up in the same way, nothing has happened during the flashing or installation. The device is still in the same state.
3) I tried installing another recovery type (now using CWM v.6.0.5.0), but I always end up with the old one.
What seems to be the common result on whatever I try, is that nothing happens. I even tried erasing all the data from the tablet, but nothing changes. Still boots into BlissPop and is stuck there. It seems like I cannot write anything to the tablet. Recovery mode (CWM) is also VERY slow, and it takes about 3 mins to get into CWM from fastboot bootloader screen.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong, or have any tips for new things to try out?
