Nexus 5 unroot problems. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a real problem restoring my nexus 5 to stock. So far I have downloaded the .tgz zip folder and put my phone in fastboot mode. I feel like I am missing something though as I'm not sure how to flash-all and I'm quite stuck haha. Thanks in advance.

Unzip the gz file...
#stayparanoid

I have but the only thing in the zip is the "hammerhead-ktu84p-factory-35ea0277", where do I go from here?

Unzip that too.

I'm getting the error message "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged" when I try to unzip it.

You download and extract the .tgz, with 7zip if you're on Windows.
In there is a folder. Within the folder is another zip file you need to extract.
Not really sure what you're seeing. perhaps screenshots will help?

Right, think I have sorted it now, seems to be running, thanks for the help.

Thanks, I've been using Winrar but it hasn't been working properly. I used 7zip and it worked perfectly.

Oh, download winRAR as suggested, open the .zip folder, and copy the .apk onto your phone.
Then, install it, reboot your phone, and it should work flawlessy. The reboot is necessary, as it is a system app.

Huh, thats odd. There is no .apk file when I opened it. Any of you who have tried it have an idea to where it is or how to get it?

Could be a corrupt zip? Here's the APK directly: T-Mobile TV
The app runs for me on ICS SK3 but says something is blocking it from initializing my trial and cannot continue

Idk, with any app I install the .apk directly, unless noted otherwise, like with the LG Camera.
And probably not, My Account and a bunch of T-Mobile apps don't work on ICS in general, doesn't matter what ROM or device. You'll have to wait till they update, or use a GB ROM in the meantime.

a little lost

ok i am trying to put the aeon rom on my infuse, it is rooted with cwm installed. i downloaded the rom from this site , went thru the whole google drive thing and all.ok it downloaded in winrar format , so i created a folder and renamed it zip and put on desktop and then transfered to internal memory on phone. ok i rebooted to cwm , did the wipes like it said then went to install zip from sd, it found the zip and when i selected it it showed all the files in the folder, data,meta-inf,scripts sd card, system ,updates and install busybox. now i am lost as to what to do . do i select these 1 by 1 or did i screw up somewhere before hand.
The file you downloaded should be a zip. Not sure about all the shuffling you did, but you should be able to place the zip you downloaded on your internal sd and flash from recovery. You should not have to do a single thing to the ROM when downloaded other than flash.
Edit...sounds like you were unable to flash the ROM because it was a folder, as opposed to a zip file. Don't pull stuff out of the package, just try changing it from..rar to .zip..then flash.

**** , it keeps downloading as a winrar file , anyway to fix that
ok i did away with my winrar and now have winzip, is that what your talking about or is zip file different, ok looks like i got it now thx alot for the help
Glad you got it. For future flashing, the package you download should be all you need to flash in recovery. No need to pull out files or recreate zips. The devs try to make it easy as possible.

I think your winrar/winzip is just the program.associated with he .zip...i think it was always a .zip...as winzip is not a file...winrar is not a file either...they are just two different programs...

Image not found (jb).img

I have followed everything to a 't' and took the jb image 'renamed it' to (basically took out jb and kept 'recovery' and '.img') IS THAT CORRECT?
and when I ran the command for the image recovery it says image not found.
I even tried TWRP image and renamed... Same problem-
I know I posted some stupid stuff and I apologize - i have read a lot more into rooting and figured a lot out, but this is am @ a loss... Not sure what else to...
I plead for help

the image file needs to be in the same place that you are running fastboot from. for example i have C:/andriod abd where all my adb/fastboot drivers and .exe and such are and to flash a blob/img file i must put the file in that same folder because thats where fastboot looks for the blob/img.
ide bet money that this is your problem. and what fastboot command are you using? It would be helpful if you could be more descriptive of the steps you have tried

BTW-THANKYOU soo much for hekping
I will put more information up and pics to help-people see what I see and are doing
I actually made a file folder (I saw it on a YouTube video) and put all of the files needed for the recovery;for example
"rocovery1"=file folder (in c drive) and that folder includes the two(2) adb(.dll) files / the fastboot file (but my 'fastboot' file doesn't have an exe after it) does that matter-/and then of course the image file... ALL OF THAT IS IN A folder I named... should I have not done that? If not where would I find my adb files? Better yet how are they supposed to be listed?

FYI
Asus uses .blob NOT .img
Even if it's CWM or TWRP (either one would be '.blob') NOT '.img' - either one?

Recovery is through fastboot, and fastboot for asus requires .blob. So yes, its blob irregardless.

Trying to sign a zip on a phone? Solved

I'm trying to create a flashable zip on my phone, but every time I try to flash to test it fails. Can anyone help?
I've tried zip signer and signapktic so it must be something I'm doing wrong

So... let's see that zip.
It's ok. Just sorted it now, obviously waking up at 4:30am has defected my brain. I was zipping the folder as a whole rather than the meta and system folders. So within my zip was another folder of the same name before them. Lol. Doh... Fail to me

How do I delete apps with a zip file in recovery?

I install a ROM nightly and there are a few files that I dont need. I was hoping to create a file I can install after my ROM that will delete the 4 apps I dont need instead of having to manually remove them from the zip every day before I install it.
If possible, all I need is a zip file that deletes apps and I think I can modify it from there. Thank you in advance!
This is what I made for myself -

I get a 404 when trying this file, any chance you have a different link?
Just edited it. Lol
Just edit the updater script to what you want

NEVERMIND, I am a dummy!
There should be text in the updater script :-S
I think drop box is playing up. Try this - https://www.dropbox.com/s/tyz9zmqhhjvb3fz/deleteapp.zip

You had the answer to the problem before I went into retard mode. I opened the file update-script straight from the zip before copying it onto my hard drive (so it was blank). Copying the file to the desktop and opening the file locally allowed me to edit the file without an issue. I just saved the update-script and put it back in the zip.
In hindsight, the file from Ben36 would have done the job, but I wanted to learn how to do it myself.
Glad to help! Lol
