I install a ROM nightly and there are a few files that I dont need. I was hoping to create a file I can install after my ROM that will delete the 4 apps I dont need instead of having to manually remove them from the zip every day before I install it.
If possible, all I need is a zip file that deletes apps and I think I can modify it from there. Thank you in advance!
This is what I made for myself -

I get a 404 when trying this file, any chance you have a different link?
Just edited it. Lol
Just edit the updater script to what you want

NEVERMIND, I am a dummy!
There should be text in the updater script :-S
I think drop box is playing up. Try this - https://www.dropbox.com/s/tyz9zmqhhjvb3fz/deleteapp.zip

You had the answer to the problem before I went into retard mode. I opened the file update-script straight from the zip before copying it onto my hard drive (so it was blank). Copying the file to the desktop and opening the file locally allowed me to edit the file without an issue. I just saved the update-script and put it back in the zip.
In hindsight, the file from Ben36 would have done the job, but I wanted to learn how to do it myself.
Glad to help! Lol

Just recently, on two different PCs, whenever I downlaod an APK from XDA-Developers, they are saved as .zip files (saved as "app.zip" instead of "app.apk"). Downloading from other sites works fine.
Is it something with the forums? or with my PCs?
Can the file be unzipped?

Yes, the file can be unzipped & the contents are what would usually be in an apk file.
I just rename it to "app.apk" & it will work. Its just that it did not happen before, and now, on two PCs whenever I download an APK, I have to rename it first.
Apk in .zip
All APK's are just zip files in a format that Android understands and can un-zip almost like and be installed like a program. So, i think, you need to just change the .zip extension to .apk
The main question was that, previuosly downlaoded APK's from XDA were fine, now, they are saved as .zip. why?

Probably because its not illegal I guess... if you were to upload a paid app as an APK u could get in trouble whereas if its in a .zip file then its not considered an illegal file... if you get me... another possibility is that it just takes up less space hope this helps

ok i am trying to put the aeon rom on my infuse, it is rooted with cwm installed. i downloaded the rom from this site , went thru the whole google drive thing and all.ok it downloaded in winrar format , so i created a folder and renamed it zip and put on desktop and then transfered to internal memory on phone. ok i rebooted to cwm , did the wipes like it said then went to install zip from sd, it found the zip and when i selected it it showed all the files in the folder, data,meta-inf,scripts sd card, system ,updates and install busybox. now i am lost as to what to do . do i select these 1 by 1 or did i screw up somewhere before hand.
The file you downloaded should be a zip. Not sure about all the shuffling you did, but you should be able to place the zip you downloaded on your internal sd and flash from recovery. You should not have to do a single thing to the ROM when downloaded other than flash.
Edit...sounds like you were unable to flash the ROM because it was a folder, as opposed to a zip file. Don't pull stuff out of the package, just try changing it from..rar to .zip..then flash.

**** , it keeps downloading as a winrar file , anyway to fix that
ok i did away with my winrar and now have winzip, is that what your talking about or is zip file different, ok looks like i got it now thx alot for the help
Glad you got it. For future flashing, the package you download should be all you need to flash in recovery. No need to pull out files or recreate zips. The devs try to make it easy as possible.

I think your winrar/winzip is just the program.associated with he .zip...i think it was always a .zip...as winzip is not a file...winrar is not a file either...they are just two different programs...

So... let's see that zip.
It's ok. Just sorted it now, obviously waking up at 4:30am has defected my brain. I was zipping the folder as a whole rather than the meta and system folders. So within my zip was another folder of the same name before them. Lol. Doh... Fail to me

Can someone explain this to me, why does root explorer can't access files on "root/storage/emulated"
You know, nexus 5 virtual sdcard directory is "root/storage/emulated/0" but CWM backup directory is "root/system/clockworkmod"
I used to place the .zips for flashing new roms at "root/storage/emulated" using CM's file manager, though I'm on PA I installed CM's file manager from CM App Installer
the problem is CM's file manager not guaranteed to run on every rom. And from root explorer "root/storage/emulated" is not shown correctly (yes it can be accessed but the .zips and clockworkmod backup directory is not shown). But from CM's file manager it is accessible
Here I attached the problem I mean, you can see on the root explorer there's only 2 folder on "root/storage/emulated" (0 and legacy) but from cm's file manager it shows another files
What went wrong?
Sorry if my English are weird since English is not my primary languange
Because CWM is outdated.

Can't explain why it shows in cm. I don't/won't use it.
Storage/emulated isn't a real location. Click the link in my signature and then find my data info thread. Everything is explained there. And stop using cwm

I figured out that the files is at "root/mnt/shell/emulated"
I don't know why Cm and rootex shows different directory
OOT, what rom are you running now? Just curious
And Philz touch at your signature, can I just flash the .zip in cwm to get it replacing my current cwm?
I use slimkat and yes you can
FYI the true location of sdcard is /data/media/0

I'm having a real problem restoring my nexus 5 to stock. So far I have downloaded the .tgz zip folder and put my phone in fastboot mode. I feel like I am missing something though as I'm not sure how to flash-all and I'm quite stuck haha. Thanks in advance.
Unzip the gz file...
#stayparanoid
I have but the only thing in the zip is the "hammerhead-ktu84p-factory-35ea0277", where do I go from here?
Unzip that too.

You download and extract the .tgz, with 7zip if you're on Windows.
In there is a folder. Within the folder is another zip file you need to extract.
Not really sure what you're seeing. perhaps screenshots will help?
Right, think I have sorted it now, seems to be running, thanks for the help.
Thanks, I've been using Winrar but it hasn't been working properly. I used 7zip and it worked perfectly.
