Hey folks,
I'm living in Germany and just received my Mate 7. It's a great device so far but I need root.
I tried to follow the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-root-t2904604 . But unfortunately my model number (L09) isn't listed on Huawei's Bootloader Unlock Page and I can not bypass this by just selecting a similar number...
Is there an alternative way?
Thanks!
Sorry, I dont know how to root the device, but where did you order your device from?
I preordered it on Amazon.de in september...

Amazon.de still says It's not available yet though.
I guess that I got one of the few available units Amazon received from Huawei...
BTW: still looking for a root solution :/

Try the Honor 6 model.
Doesn't work. Getting Product-ID error every time.
Hi Piotrekk,
Hope you are enjoying your device. According to a Chinese page the MT7-L09 has dual sim function and the lte on the second card. Doesn't seem useful for Europe. Can you tell us the correct specs if that's not the case?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
Your information is wrong.
The L09 model is silver, 16/2GB and single-SIM.
I'm in the same state like you, i've got my MT-L09 from rueducommerce (french) and don't find the correct product in the chinease huawei unlock page.
I thin'k we need to wait for huawei to add this model to the unlock page
I got mine from Saturn (germany) yesterday. What a great device! Hopefully we can get root soon. I mailed huawei yesterday but no answer yet
For european model root is avaible ... On a german forum, dont know if its allowed, to post here?
Edit:.
Okay, another XDA-member posted it here:

try it ~ it's worked !!
Hello guys,
if you mailed huawei, they will answer you in a few days that your model of mate 7 is not supported for unlocking. I have a Mate 7 L09 and wasted days trying to find a solution to root it.
What you have to do :
- get your product id, imei, S/N
- go on the huawei unlocking page
- fill in your information but chose "Y300-0151" in the product list, instead of the Y300-0000 as they say in the tutorial
it should work as it did for me and a few others on a french forum.
have a nice day
Even the attempt, according to the page it should work with all Huawei models.

So I bought a (supposedly) sealed Mate 9 on ebay as a Christmas present to myself, and it's great! but i'm not getting any updates.. its an MHA-L29, Build no MHA-L29C432B182-log.
I'd previously been onto Huawei on facebook with an update query on my Mate 8, so I queried them about this phone with the same question. This was what I got back:
Hi Fred,
Thank you for getting back to us.
We have tried checking the IMEI numbers of your Mate 9 device in our system and although on the consumer website we were prompted with the information that the device is intended for China, while running them through our other software tools we were unable to gain access to any type of information.
For this reason we won't be able to provide any details related to the current Build Number available for the device, or any other details related to the updates intended for it.
Should any other questions arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards, Huawei
So it seems it's a China model and not a European one. Do I somehow flash it with a Chinese rom? If so - which one?!
Any help much appreciated!
Fred
I wont be much help on this subject, but you would certainly rebrand to a different region. There are a few threads around for that, Then use the region you want.

So, it is definitely Chinese model.
1. Huawei didn't tell you much info, just point to China.
2. Model that is selling in Europe can't have log suffix in build number. This is ROM for test purpose with logging and sending info to Huawei. Chinese sellers flashed it by inadvertence.
Don't look on it was sealed. It is too easy to seal box again.
Well, you can stay at C432 region, but I recommend flash release version like B198 using Firmware Finder.
Otherwise you can return to Chinese region ( C00 )
In this case you must get unlock code and unlock bootloader. Turn "oem unlock" in developer settings and remember that option is on world ROMs only.
Then you will able to rebrand.
Thanks for the input so far guys,
Would there be any benefit in putting a Chinese rom on? Am I right in thinking that China versions are getting Oreo at the moment? I'd rather not go through using the tool and rebranding (did it before with my Mate 8) so I think i'll try to work out the firmware finder app!
Thanks

I believe the Chinese versions are somewhat limited and cannot access some Google apps and services.

Good morning all,
I used the Firmware Finder to update to MHA-L29C432B198 and all good! Now I guess I just wait for the Oreo update to hit this region version. It needed a reset of course, so I had a fun evening of rebuilding and signing into all my apps while at the same time completely rebuilding my media centre pc which had refused to boot.. yay. Good times.

Well, even if you updated, you're still "out of region". So chances are you won't get any update to Oreo.
Oreo builds for C432 are named MHA-L29 8.0.0.xxx (C432) in Firmware Finder, same with MHA-L09.
So you could try updating to Oreo through FF.
Thanks, I'll keep checking the finder app. I'd rather stay on the c432 chain as I'm in England if that makes a difference. Is Oreo still in beta for 432? So far they all say not approved for installation.
This is the official FunkyHuawei support thread.
FunkyHuawei is a (mostly) paid service which allows you to do the following:
1. Install the latest system software, even before it's released by OTA.
2. Install beta/prerelease system software, without needing to be a beta tester.
3. Recover a bricked phone.
4. Rebranding / Change the region of your phone (China -> Europe, for example, to get Google and so on.)
5. Enabling dual-sim features on single-sim phones.
6. Root your EMUI 8 phone, even with stock recovery (This feature is free)
--NOTE: SOME OF THESE FEATURES NOT AVAILABLE ON P20 SERIES YET. SEE NEXT POST--
You do not need to unlock your bootloader, or void your warranty to use the service. (except the free rooting feature)
To find FunkyHuawei, please Google it. Or you can find a link to the service as well as our rebranding tool within the following XDA Portal article.
https://www.xda-developers.com/exclusive-att-huawei-mate-10-pro-firmware/
We are pleased to announce FHUnbrickFlashTool -- You can now repair any recent Huawei phone via fastboot, even if you cannot access eRecovery or boot the phone! Even if it doesn't show the Huawei logo, as long as you can get a fastboot connection to your computer, you can recover the phone! Google FHUnbrickFlashTool or check FunkyHuawei's reddit for details.
In cooperation with XDA, FunkyHuawei is offering a free credit to Recognized Developers and Recognized Contributers on XDA.
Please PM me for more details.
We will continue posting in this thread with updates regarding new software versions and releases regarding this device.
We will also be monitoring it so we can help anyone who has issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does FunkyHuawei cost?
A: You need to buy credits on the FunkyHuawei website. The price per credit varies depending on the number of credits you buy. Different operations cost different amounts of credits. However, the Root feature of the Mate 10 tool is free, and as mentioned above, Recognized Developers/Contributors of XDA can ask for a free credit.
Q: My phone is bootloader locked, and FRP locked. My bootloader unlock code dosen't work. It won't boot. eRecovery doesn't work. Can you help?
A: Yes. With the Mate 10 this is now a common situation. Contact FunkyHuawei for help in this situation. We'll need to access your computer remotely and the procedure is a little bit complicated, but the phone can be unbricked.
Q: I can't get my bootloader unlock code/don't want to unlock my bootloader, but I want to change my phone to something other than Chinese. Can you help?
A: Yes. Our new FunkyHuawei Rebrand Tool works on recent Huawei phones (Sorry EMUI 8.1 phones not yet supported. Coming soon), to rebrand them to another region even when the bootloader is locked.
Q: I'm not seeing the latest version listed on FunkyHuawei or elsewhere as an OTA. Why not?
A: Huawei has a very odd and unpredictable way of rolling out OTA updates. You can use FunkyHuawei to install the new version immediately, or can wait for the update to be rolled out. It might be a month or more after release until the update reaches your device from Huawei directly. We have no idea why.
Q: Why isn't FunkyHuawei free?
A: Because many of FunkyHuawei's features cost FunkyHuawei money to provide. Features that don't cost FunkyHuawei money to provide, like rooting the Mate 10 or our TWRP build for Mate 9/Oreo, for example, are generally made available for free. There are also bills to pay, kids to put through school, and so on.
Q: I noticed FunkyHuawei in an XDA Portal article!
A: FunkyHuawei loves XDA, and is cooperating with them as much as possible. Recognized Developers and Contributors on the XDA forums are welcome to claim a free credit from FunkyHuawei as well.
Q: I have a different question.
A: This is what this thread is for! Post away!

No... we don't have any contacts at Huawei to ask. AFAIK project treble will let custom rom development go on quite easily even without kernel sources.

Yes. But it's possible the phone has an internal secondary IMEI which it simply doesn't show on the settings. We haven't had a way of figuring out exactly how it works IMEI-wise, but both sims do work. It's been this way for generations of Huawei phones.

I would like to Root, for our model I think it's premature, be patient sooner than later there will be a way, the important part is unlocking bootloader since they will get rid of.

Hello everyone
I got my Huawei P20 Pro 6/64 CLT-AC01 today in the mail.
It is locked to Chinese region, and doesn't has any of the gapps installed.
I looked for several hours through the forum and on Google today, and I can't find any way to flash a different region ROM to it (often referred to as Debranding)
Also, I read that Huawei canceled the option to unlock the bootloader - I tried it on several ways today and got to a 404 on the unlock page.
Could someone tell me how do I change the region of the device to a normal international one?
Thanks! Can't wait to start using this beautiful device.

Yours is uncommon one indeed. 90-99% P20 Pro out there is 6/128GB, yet you have 6/64
I talked to Huawei support in 3 countries.
They refuse to supply me with an unlock code and it looks like i'm stuck with this device
You probably got either a early test device or a fake one.

It's the Chinese P20 Pro is normal to have 64GB...
I was in the same situation, same model of phone, two weeks ago but I had luck getting the unlock code the last day. When the unlocked bootloader I could debrand the phone following the guide in this forum. As they won't give the unlock code, your only option is funky or dc-unlocker when they support the phone. Also I found an indian guy that maybe could do it, his webpage is called ministry of solutions . But I don't know if it is reliable.
Good luck
