[Q] 4.4 update OTA not possible - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I recently bought the One plus one. I am not able to update the phone to 4.4 even though the update has been rolled out. Could someone help me on whether i should wait longer for the OTA update or manually update it? Also, is there a way to manually update it without having to root it?
Thanks in advance

Just manually update it, you DONT need root, download the recovery flashable .zip here and copy it to your phone. Switch of your phone, then hold volume down and power simultaneously until it enters recovery. Then select Apply update and browse to where the file is on you device and flash away.

OTA Update rejected?

So I am still on 2.3.1 and today I got the message that I had an OTA available. I tried to install it and my phone rebooted and everything but when it was trying to come back on it just showed the android guy with the white triangle and exclamation mark over his head, and it wouldnt do anything else. I had to power off my phone. Now that it is back on, it still shows that it is at 2.3.1.
I am rooted, but no roms or kernels or anything is installed. How can I get that OTA back so that I dont have to manually update it myself? Did this happen because I am rooted? What could I have done differently so next OTA works?
Hmmm... not the first time I hear this happen. I actually don't know what could cause OTA update to fail. Unless you find out what prevented the update, you may need to update manually this time.
When you see that triangle screen again, press Power + Volume Up, then select install zip and point it to the update zip file. It may fail to update again, which I suspect it could mean the wrong OTA file is downloaded. In order to apply a incremental update, you need to apply 2.3.1 -> 2.3.2 -> 2.3.3 -> 2.3.4 updates. If your phone is stupid and downloaded 2.3.4 update, then it would fail. In that case, you have to download the 2.3.4 full ROM and apply manually.

[Solved] Problem updating new OTA

Hi guys
I've just recieved the new security update from HTC, but when I try to install it the phone shuts down, and a white triangle with an ! mark and a little droid man standing by it apears and nothing happens. The only way I can turn the phone back off to reboot is by removing the battery.
Have any of you experienced problems with the new OTA?
My phone is rooted, but with stock ROM and nothing other than the stock font has been changed on the phone, so I can see emoji characters.
I've also tried to download the update a few times, to make sure I didn't download a currupt file or something, but it doesn't help either.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Edit:
Well I found out that I could boot with CWM Recovery and force install of the OTA from the download folder problem fixed!
hey how can i get this update to download it. im`
s-off rooted but i dont have the stock rom. by updating this update i will lose my root?
can i root back like i did?
I doubt you can get the update when you have a custom ROM.

[Q] Does anyone know how to root Kurio Touch 4S Tablet?

Hello everybody, I am trying to root my little brother's kurio touch 4s in order to get google play on it. I tried the OTA update and even downloading the update from their website but it would simply not work. This OTA was supposed to give android 4.3 and google services but it didn't work. So i am on android 4.2.2. Anyone have any suggestions on how to root this device?
Currently using recovery mode to update we'll see how it goes
Updated through Recovery Mode
For those having trouble with the update i downloaded the file ota.zip from the update application then went to recovery mode and installed it through recovery. Now time too root it...........
After installing the ota.zip file through recovery mode the android version stays at 4.2.2. I guess Kurio wasn't ready to upgrade us to 4.3 lol
Rooted it! Installed utoo root.zip file through recovery!
Does anyone have a link to the utoo root.zip file for the Kurio touch? is this the same file?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2407059
anyone successful?
I see that you made a post about how you rooted.
I tried it and made my own reply.
I had limited success.
I'm wondering how your attempt went, and if anyone has had any luck with the K4s.
Update :
I used utoo to root my kurio 4s touch.
At first I had issues with several programs spontaneously stopping, including the keyboard and Google search.
Then I reinstalled it from the recovery mode menu and so far all has been well.
Still not sure about the safety of this app, but so far it has worked. This device is just my mp3 player and I don't do any banking or critical stuff, so it's ok for now.
Thanks.

Exact same position, bought in4dealz, have you come across any solutions?
Just boot into TWRP and use the install menu to install the update file. First go into Developer Options in the Android settings menu and uncheck the 'update cm recovery' option though. If Developer Options isn't visible you need to enable it by going into About Phone and clicking Build Number about eight times or so.

Lollipop OTA

So i eventually received my lollipop OTA this morning (UK, EE).............
But what exactly do i do with it
I'm rooted (Locked BL). I obviously can't install the OTA the normal way, can i ?
I was waiting for some custom ROMS to be made available but don't seem to see any. Will these follow soon since the Lollipop update has went global?
I'm kinda torn tbh.... i have my phone set up perfectly on KitKat and it looks amazing and some of my favourite xposed tweaks aren't available on Lollipop e.g. Blurred System UI.
Anyway...If i should decide to install Lollipop (i probably will) what would be the best method?
(Are we talking going back to stock, installing OTA, then re-rooting, or is there a more simple method?)
I believe u only lose root. Install and re-root is my fiddy cent...
Download your respective firmware and make a pre-rooted rom based on it.
And flash it via recovery.
Stick with KitKat.
Sorry to hijack the thread but if I root without unlocking bootloader, will I get to update normally via ota or companion app? I don't mind losing root access if only to reboot later. And does it affect drm keys etc?
I'm rooted with kitkat and received the prompt for lollipop OTA. The point is it downloads but won't install, so to upgrade you'd need to use flashtool, PC companion or boot into recovery and flash an appropriate zip. None of those should have any effect on your DRM, but you'll lose root unless you're flashing a pre-rooted version of lollipop. If you do opt for a rooted version of lollipop it's still a bit unclear whether recovery is fully available to you, and xposed installer has a rack of issues either way...... you might want to hold for now?
Thanks for that I'll wait it out for now. The only real reason I was really updating was for the move to sd feature. Do anyone know of any alternatives?
The point is, I just wanted root until the ota. So it will update normally via sony PC companion?
OTA Can't Verify on Rooted Device
I noticed the update this morning. Phone rebooted like it was going to work but didn't. Now it allows me to download it over and over and each time it says "could not verify". Is there any good reason to want this update? I'm rooted on the 77fw and my phone works fine as is. I do not want to update and find out I lost root. Unless there is a very good reason to, I'll just wait and see if a rooted zip becomes available.
Stickin with kitkat. I will not run without root.
