[Q] Ok Google Everywhere - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just found out on the web about enabling the hotword on every screen, but when I go into voice settings there's no audio history, and only the option about in-search app detection.
I'm on a stock 4.4.4 Nexus 5, with Google search 3.9 up date.
I tried everything, deleting cache, enabling / disabling google now, nothing seems to get it to show up.
Anyone with the same problem? What can I do?

It is. Always been :/

Be sure your google play services and search app are updated to the latest versions.
From google play services settings -> search & now -> voice -> audio history turned on. This will allow you to manage your audio history once you start using google now.
To turn on "OK" Google: In the same menu as audio history there is "OK" google detection. Check the "From any screen" once you do it'll have you record you saying "OK google" 3 times. After that a setting will appear under "from any screen" which says "allow from lock screen", check that. Profit.
Hope this helps. I use google now religiously.

I'm using Nova launcher (up to date) for all that matters. Ok Google is enabled there too.
Everything is up to date, I don't get it

That is odd, my explanation works for me. However, others have had your problem, so after looking it up. From google now / google search app, search "Ok Google everywhere" and the settings should come up.

I tried that too multiple times, no use.
I couldn't find anyone with the same problem

I have the exact same problem. It's driving me crazy, and nobody seems to have a clue why this is happening.
If you find a solution, please let me know.

[Q] Google Play Store APK 4.5.10 No Connection Error from App Menu work around

Every time I click on google play I get a grey bar at the top of the Play Store Home page without the 3 line menu option on the top left and a No Connection error or connection time out. Searching the Internet for these yielded options from messing with date/Time to a factory set. I have done all of these things, but I did find 2 work arounds. This is where things get weird. Please let me know if there is a perma fix.

1) Wait for an update notification:
When I get a notification that an app need to be updated and I click on it the Play stores opens and works normally. I get the green header and 3 line menu option on the top left with google play normally.

2) Here is the work around I have to use:
Open the Play Store from the app menu
Click the search and type anything
Click on see all apps
You should see the green header and 3 line menu option on the top left with google play normally.

[Q] google play advanced search

I'm trying to get the best out of the Google Play Store and I'm looking for an advanced search but I can't find anything.
Usually when I'm looking for an app I'm not interested in games, book and whatever. Often I look straight for paid apps, but I can't see how to filter results. I can't see a way to sort results upon rates, price or last update date.
I even noticed that it's almost impossible to list ALL the apps made by Google: if I go to "more from developer" I can't see the Google Calendar app (I'm sure, checked twice, it's not in the list).
Am I missing something?
Isn't there a way to get an advanced search in which I can set strict conditions? (It doesn't matter if I have to use the computer or just android to perform an advanced search)
I'm kind of astonished ...
What? I can actually easily search google calendar 0_0 seems weird

Talking about the paid apps you can actually do it just go to shop apps then slide between top paid, free , grossing and you can also choose in category
And also make sure your play store is up to date...

I can look for "google calendar". My complain is the fact that if you filter the official apps made by Google than Google Calendar is not listed.

yes but how can you select multiple categories and add additional conditions to your search? For instance "I want to get all the free (or paid) apps about notification that have nothing to do with games" (it's just an example)
How can you run such a search?

it is and anyway whatever I say is true also for the website version
There is now an advanced search engine for Google Play available as an app, see here

New options in settings sync (google account)

Hi!
I've noticed new options when I enter settings and select my google account (sync details).

}
Do you know what are these? Weird is that there are "*" in some titles. Do you know what are these with star? Do you know what exactly does it sync? Do you know why there are 2 exact same positions? Don't know why one of these options is in english while rest is in Polish. Is everything OK or maybe I should wipe data (I dirty flashed when coming from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3)
Thanks in advance
These are supposedly hidden sync points. Have you installed Greenify?. Greenify Experimental version enables/displays these 'hidden' ones - so you can chose to enable/disable sync on them.
Yes, I installed greenify but never would guess this is because of greenify. Thanks for help
Mine now has 3 options for photos...
Google photos
Auto backup Google photos
Google+ photos
..nice one Google for making your software so easy to understand.. nobs
Can anyone say what exactly does that sync mean:
- Location and location something
- Google Play services
- Push subscription
I was curious about these too. And also why there are 2 "Game Data" options
Also, I unticked a bunch of them (i.e. Push Subscriptions, Google Photos, etc.)
But notice that they get reticked (upon reboot, I think)

Brief Guide:
*Install google play services and google search app from first post
* Download and install unleash the google
* Open unleash the google apk and grant super user permission
* Now force stop google search
* Modify google search settings
*Scroll through this next list of settings until you find one titled e300_voice_everywhere. Toggle this to ON, then two entries below it, toggle the enable e300 option to ON as well
* Open config flags and Scroll down a bit more (the entries are in alphabetical order) until you find an option titled speaker_id_supported_locales. Tap it, then in the following box, type en-US (yes, this feature is US English-only at the moment)
*Now, scroll down some more and tap the Save Config Settings button. Finally, back out and tap the Google Search field for your changes to become active
Enable hot word detection
*Now head back to the Settings for Google Now, select the Voice menu from here
*Next, tap the OK Google" Detection entry and make sure From Google Search app is ticked. Then tick the box next to From any screen (as well as From lock screen, if you want that functionality)
*This will automatically launch an initial setup process designed to train Google Search to recognize your voice. Accept the terms and conditions, then on the next screen, say OK Google three times with your phone at about arm's length
*You are now ready to trigger a voice search from any screen, inside any app. The hotword detection even works with your screen off, provided your phone is connected to the charger
*This is a killer feature, in my opinion.Running it on my phone for three days now, I haven't noticed any discernible battery drain

"Unfortunately Google play services has stopped" problem

I've had a problem with Google play services before, but never to this caliber. This isn't the phone, but on my primary S7 whenever connected to WiFi or using data I'll get the occasional "Unfortunately, Google play services has stopped" popup. But the thing is, it keeps popping up. Again, again, and again, and it's definitely getting to be a problem. I'll also get an notification saying something along the lines of a Google related app not being able to update or it's not working properly, even when going to the Play store to check updates, it's not there. And even sometimes when trying to open something like Gmail, I get this: "Gmail is having trouble with Google Play Store, if the problem persists, please contact the developer for assistance." Not sure how the heck this all started in the first place.

Tried both, didn't work. I can't even disable or force stop Google play services, and Google Services Framework isn't even its on thing for me, it's under the Google play services, and data usage. Now apparently I messed it up even more possibly cause some actual apps are popping up with a similar message.
When I had my android phone unfortunately google play services has stopped several times before I found a simple solution to it. I downloaded hotspot shield on my mobile and whenever I turned it on, it was always a success.
