[Q] How to enable hot spot with non-AT&T SIM? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I have a Skyrocket with 4.1.2 from AT&T, that is off-contract and unlocked by AT&T. When I travel overseas, it works fine for everything with a local SIM card except that I can't enable the hotspot function. Instead, I get the message "Mobile data is not available or invalid SIM." I ran into this when travelling in Taiwan and tried the same SIM card in a local phone from a colleague - the SIM card worked fine for the hotspot function in the local phone.
I have spoken to tech support at AT&T who say that the problem is that the APN (Access Point Name) is not compatible with non-AT&T SIMs. Is this true? If so, what is the fix? Note that I plan to use this phone in the UK in a few weeks with a local SIM, and would like to be able to share the data with my tablet.

i did a quick search and found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420488
more reading enable hotspot i727 site:forum.xda-developers.com

Thanks. So, it looks like I need to do the following:
> Root
> Quarantine 'TetheringProvision' to disable the software lock on hotspot
>* Use ES File Explorer to configure and turn on the hotspot
What is less clear is the use of Foxfi - reading through the messages it is not clear why I would need it (if I do)?

Reading another message, it looks like simply using FoxFi may be all that I need, without routing. Still unclear, but certainly worth a first try.

The stock ROM has a tethering check to make sure your account is "allowed" to tether. For fairly obvious reasons, this is failing when you aren't on the AT&T network.
There was a trivially easy work-around on Gingerbread, but I wasn't able to get it working at all on ICS or JB. Their tethering restrictions were much more "baked in".
I'm not sure what your level of comfort on phone modding is, but your best bet may be to dump the stock AT&T ROM and wander over to CyanogenMod. Tethering is as simple as consulting the notification bar. There are some CM11 based ROMs available that will make you slap yourself silly for staying with that crufty carrier-branded ROM as long as you have.
I'm running Sultan's CM11 ROM myself, but almost any ROM (other than one from AT&T) will resolve the issue.

FoxFi will work, and I used it for a while, but it has a couple of minor limitations. The first is that USB connections require you to leave debugging on and install a driver. I didn't try the WIFI portion, so perhaps that will resolve your problem as well.
It is a paid app, though. The free version is just good enough to let you know if it will work at all.

I just installed Foxfi and gave it a try - it reports that it can't enable the hotspot. BUT, the failure may be that the non AT&T card I have installed right now does not support data (I'm in the US and the only non AT&T SIM card I have available is this non-data one from the UK). So, I have to chose between assuming it will work when I pick up a new data-enabled SIM in the UK in ten days and rooting my phone. At this point, I'm leaning towards the latter.
Is there a thread that I should use to find clear step-by-step instructions for rooting the phone - the one or two I've seen either are for other phones or are pretty old and maybe don't show the current best ROM options?

i would start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176593

One of the first things I noticed was that there is no need to root the phone to install a customer ROM. Is that true if I want to enable the hotspot feature, or for this case do I need to root the phone?

[Q] Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3-SCH-I535-Unlocking

I am by far no where near the caliber of technology that lie within this web site, however, I am simply trying to get some direction regarding my S3.
I purchased it from Verizon-2 yrs ago, contract expired 7/8/13; did not renew. I went with Consumer Cellular (more fitting for the older generation) but my S3 WON'T WORK ON THEIR NETWORK!
I have spent the last 3 weeks doing research on this phone to see if it can be 'unlocked' to work with a another carrier. The phone is like brand new and I don't want to get rid of it, I'd prefer to use it with the new carrier.
Is there anyone who can give me some direction to this issue? Can the phone infact be "unlocked' to work with Consumer, it has the Verizon SIM card in it, I was able to root it, successfully, now if I can just get it unlocked. Had to purchase another phone so that I would not be without phone service while I work on trying to get this one unlocked.
I've been told it can't because Verizon is a CDMA carrier and Consumer is a GSM..if this in fact true than I've no options but to sell the phone.
I do have "Preferred Network Mode' and it gives me the following options, Global, LTE/CDMA & GSM/UMTS.
Any help, directions or information would be greatly appreciated. With my thanks to all those who have taken the time to read this post.

How did you get this phone 2 years ago? It barely came out a little more than a year ago.
Next, you can unlock it, but only if you pay for the full retail for the phone and then contact Verizon about what you want to do and then get an unlock code. After that, you're going to need a SIM card from Consumer Cellular.
There shouldn't be a problem with radio frequencies since the Verizon GS3 is a global phone. So the SIM card should work after you get it set up.
If I'm wrong in some aspect, someone feel free to correct me.

In regards to Unlocking the phone, the phone is unlocked out of the box, you just pop in your sim and select GSM mode! you have to set the APN for DATA yourself tho!

Hi:
I do not recall the date of purchase but know that when I purchased it I had to sign for a 2 yr contract with Verizon..that contract was up July 8,2013.
That is not important, what is important is to find out if in fact the phone can be unlocked, VERIZON swears it is unlocked so they are not going to be of any use to me to get their help. It is up to me to find someone who can unlock this phone via a cable. The code places I have contacted can't come up with a code, they have instructed me that it needs to be done with a cable.
As I stated, I am simply trying to get the phone unlocked to use on Consumer Celluar, of which I am already a memeber and have the SIM card activated on another SAMSUNG phone of which I had to buy.
I do not have to buy the phone outright, as the phone is paid for, thus the 2 yr contract. the phone is mine, but as long as it is in the state it is now, I can only use it on VERIZON.
The I535 has a sim card in it from Verizon, when I take out the Verizon SIM card and put in the Consumer SIM card I get the message, "this is a non verizon SIM card.
I am researching this everyday to find out if IT CAN BE UNLOCKED, AND #2 WHO CAN I GET TO UNLOCK IT? Verizon went so far as to tell me that all the person needs is a USB cable and PC...how true this is, I don't know.
Thank You

Verizon is right by saying its unlocked, and thats the most anyone can help you, if you are going to try unlocking the phone by cable, you might as well throw money down the drain! and 2 you need to update to the MF1 software! as MB1 and MD3 would tell you its non verizon sim card, but even on that update if you put the phone in GSM mode in Network settings the phone should work fine for calling and texting!
having the same issue, if you find out anything will you please let me know how to do this too. i would greatly appriciate it
SIM
Did you get the free Consumer Cellular SIM yet? Your post said you have rooted and have the Verizon SIM, and you can't get on CC network without their SIM card.
The phone is already "unlocked" for global/GSM use with the JB update, so you should be able to just pop in a SIM card from CC and change settings (they should provide you with this info).
A lot of ppl are saying the Verizon GS3 is already unlocked, but when i pop in my metro pcs sim card and switch network to cdma, nothing happens. What would I have to do to make it work with this metro carrier?
No Data, No Voice, No SMS
Hi. Im also having the same issue. I have a Verizon GS3 that was originally running 4.0.4, VRALHE. I rooted, updated the baseband to MF1, and installed RLS16 of Hyperdrive, so I now am on 4.1.2. I have the option to go GSM or Global, but when I put in my MetroPCS sim, I get nothing. It prompts me for Global, but I cant make calls or send sms. I also put in the APN and no data as well. Anyone know whatbI should do next? I have an IMEI, it doesnt appear to be lost, and I have tried the phone info app, as well as trying to go through the secret menu, the network lock menu is blank.
Hey, I got the same problem, and considering how it's been a while since the last post I wonder if there is any new news on this front. Thanx!
P.s: It came preinstalled with 4.3 stock, not rooted yet. I have the option to instal 4.4.2 via Kies {PDA:NE1 / PHONE:NE1 / CSC:NE1 (VZW)}.
Update here:
I digged into some settings and found that switching it into either Global or GSM seems to make the phone capable of voice calls.
Idk about 3G, I did manually type in the APN settings, but I never use anything other than wifi because internet here is expensive unless you go with one of their plans.
So if you haven't tried it, on 4.3 go to settings, under wireless and networks select 'More Settings', Mobile Networks, Network Mode.
Worked for me, although I still get "Non-Verizon SIM" in the notifications bar and it looks like my signal is a bit weaker than before. But still works.
guys you are wrong
guys there is no way metropcs, Boost mobile or sprint networks Work cause these are CDMA carriers and verizon and the other CDMA Carriers has a different activation way on Verizon smartphones the GSM module(gsm networks as well) come unlocked for foreigner carriers even the GSM US carriers(AT&T or TMOBILE) sometimes doesnt work hope that info help

[Q] Using Nexus 5 with tablet (data-only) sim (on T-Mobile)

I currently have a Nexus 5 (I was previously using it through MetroPCS), however I recently ordered a "Tablet (data-only)" sim card from T-mobile and tried to get it working. At the time, the T-mobile rep told me that it SHOULD work. However, after running around in circles for a few days with them, I've finally found out that it does not work (...YET!).
When I try to get the Nexus 5 to use this SIM card, it just keeps giving me a "Sign into network" notification, and never lets me use any data. (and no amount of signing into my account from my phone has helped)
According to the T-mobile rep, "this SIM card will ONLY work with a tablet". However, this is Android, and there's not much difference between a phone, and a tablet. There must be some kind of setting I can change to get my phone to think it's a tablet, or at least to get it to use this tablet-only sim card!
So I'm wondering what do I have to do to trick my phone into using this data-only sim card?
Things you may need to know:
I'm already rooted
I'm running stock Android 4.4.2
Lastly, because I'm sure people will ask: "Why do you care?, why don't you just get a standard phone-sim card?!?"
So, preemptively, here is my answer: "Because, they're giving me a data-only plan for $10/month! (and $20/month after the first year). AND, if I were to switch to a phone plan, the CHEAPEST they will allow me to have is $50/month, which is HUGE! That's a $40 difference per month!"

this is wrong. they absolutely know that youre using a tablet, and a bunch of other things about your device as soon as it connects to their network. in order for them to let your device use their network, they need this info. and wont let any device connect to their network without the proper info. the network isnt some generic highway of data, its owned by tmobile, and only gives access to it if tmobile allows it.
anyways, i have a question, how much data do they give you for $10 a month?

They give you 1GB of data for $10/month, however it jumps to $20 after the first year. Seems pretty cheap to me.
I'm still holding out hope that there must be some sort of hack, or maybe editing my build.prop or something like that to trick it into believing it's a Nexus 7 or something :-\

na, wont work, build.prop edits. there are other files it reads, not the build.prop. it also creates files in root. which is funny, when you delete them, they reappear within 5 minutes. plus there is stuff in our radios as well, that tmobile reads, that we cant get to.

What about changing the IMEI number? I believe that can be done, and I know when I was talking with a service rep, he was talking about how their system was registering my IMEI number. Maybe that's how they know it's a Nexus 5 and not a tablet? :-\
Also, you mention that 1GB/month for $10/month isn't cheap? (btw it's 1GB for $10, 3GB for $20, 5GB for $30) How do you figure? I know you're saying you can burn through it in a day, I'm sure I could too streaming netflix or something! That isn't the point though. Can you find a cheaper standalone data plan elsewhere? If so, where? I'd love to know
I have found some hope!
After doing further research, I found this article, which supports my IMEI theory.
http://www.cnet.com/news/using-a-tablet-sim-to-turn-a-smartphone-into-a-data-only-device/
In fact, according to the article, if I can find somebody with a 4g enabled tablet, I should hopefully be able to stick my sim card into their device, activate it, then pop the sim card back into my device, and hopefully that will work. (In the article she states that it works with verizon, wont work with at&t, and may, or may not work with T-mobile.)
Sadly, I don't believe I know of anybody with a 4G enabled tablet. Therefore my only option I know of would be to find a way (using root of course), to spoof, or change my IMEI number, which I'm sure should prove to be extremely fun! :silly:
Now I'm off to research that and I'll report back here what I find. :fingers-crossed:
Just go into the store with your sim and pop it into one of their tablets to activate it

That's not a bad idea, thanks!
Although, what I might do, just to be thorough (and if the sales rep is watching me like a hawk, since they might not like me shoving my SIM into the demo unit), is go into one of the stores and instead, write down the IMEI number of one of their tablets (which would be simple to just pick up the tablet, and go to settings>about device>status), and then, make my phone's IMEI number match that. That way I think it's less likely to have problems (it's possible that if the IMEI number changes, that will cause them to turn the service back off).
I dunno, I might try my thing first, and then, when that doesn't work, I'll try the more invasive, sticking my SIM in their tablet. Thanks for the idea
It's finally over!
Ok thank you for trying to help me but I finally resolved this problem.
Previously it was caused by a t-mobile rep having me order a tablet-only sim card for my phone.
I WAS going to try and change my IMEI number to match a tablet because (and I still believe) that would have tricked t-mobile into thinking my phone was a tablet, however, after much digging I have found the following which A: suits my needs, and B: no longer requires any trickery
I'm going with the T-mobile prepaid $30 unlimited text and data plan. With that you get:
100 minutes (10 cents a minute thereafter)
Unlimited Text
5GB of data, thereafter they throttle you, just like anybody else does
all for $30 bucks a month. BUT, you have to have a phone that you own, it can't be something under contract etc.
It is WAY more data than I need, but it's the cheapest they offer so I'll take it!
I should note: you MUST get your SIM card from Walmart if you're going with this plan, just FYI
Thanks again for trying to help me.

I was also duped by a tmobile sales person. Telling me a data only sim card will work on a phone. Alot of hassle and back and forth with customer support, and advanced tech support, i found that it cant work. not sure why tmobile doesnt allow this. I only wanted data on my note 3 that i gave to my kids after i got a one plus one. I have not tried putting the sim card inside a tablet to activate it then putting back in mine. How to enable / unlock wifi tethering for Moto X Play XT1563 and XT1562

Hi just a quick how to enable wifi tether with the Moto X Play XT1563.
I have a Canadian Telus model that has been unlocked & rooted.
Tested and confirmed working on lollipop 5.1.1 Canadian retail stock build. (Telus)
I found that even though you can turn on the WIFI hotspot it does not connect to the Internet for the tethered device.
I did some research (Thanks to google)
1. This is messing with some important files so don't do it if not comfortable with it.
2. Backup with a nandroid or titanium Backup or? Before you start messing
First, you have to add this line to your build.prop file (located in the "system" folder):
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
Then, check to see that in the data.db this line/value exists - "tether_dun_required" value=0
I found that the Telus model already had that line in the data.db so I didn't have to add it.
data.db is located in data/data/com.android.providers.settings
As well you also have to add this line to the data.db:
"package_verifier_enable" And give it a value of "0".
Everything else stays the same, I think.
My source :

Nice to have a functional wifi tether again.
With all the flurry of activities from all over its nice to see roms being cooked, kernels being made, etc

Can you confirm that you bought it new from Telus, or did you buy it from a 3rd party? I haven't heard of Canadian carriers restricting wifi tethering in a long time. I believe no Canadian carrier has done this since 2011.
Sealed in box, factory fresh from Telus and the tethering did NOT FUNCTION until I did the mod described.
It was all stock. That's a fact.

That's quite interesting, I had no idea that Canadian carriers were still doing this. Pretty shady if you ask me, especially considering all the uproar that took place years ago when they (I guess, supposedly) stopped doing so.
Yes I was quite miffed (perplexed) when I fired up the WIFI hotspot and devices could hook up but could not access the Internet.
Device was bought from Telus then unlocked and FIDO SIM card put in which it accepted no problem.
It might be something related to Lollipop though and not anything to do with Canadian carriers per say. I forgot that part when I replied to your post, I had done some research into the issue and come across some articles to the effect that since the release of Lollipop that tethering got fubared in the process. Sort of like how putting apps on the SD card got fubared along the way.
As the fix for rooted users turned out to be not so hard and worked for me I thought I'd share it here for the next person who has run into tether issues.
I didn't have to do anything for tethering to work on my Koodo Moto X Play.
Same here. Working on my Koodo Moto X Play out of the box...
Maybe the difference is that you two are using on the carrier the phone came from while I am using on different carrier. I tried on multiple devices with same results - none could access the Internet until I modified mine.

It was all stock. That's a fact.

Another fact... I'm using my stock, unaltered Moto X Play from Telus, wifi tethered to my PC to reply to this comment.
Do you have a Telus SIM card in the phone?
If yes then your situation is different than mine.
Don't get why everyones comparing apples to oranges.
No one else is using a Telus phone with a different SIM card from another carrier.
When you have the same setup as me then you can start comparing apples to apples.
Also don't get why everyone is so negative about me trying to help out if someone has the same issue as me and here is the fix being offered up.
If it doesn't effect you and your setup is DIFFERENT then let it be.
My phone doesn't have any lags and some have really bad lags - to the point of being returned.
So each to his/ her own the devil is in the details, if you're using the phone with the same carrier you bought it from then its a different situation from mine.

Huge question for owners of the S8+ factory unlocked...

So, I use my phone for a source of internet at my place of work. I have AT&T service and currently have an Axon 7 and enjoy free wifi hotspot with it, and it works great. However, I can't get the axon 7 to play well with my gear s3 for samsung pay and a few other weird very annoying things.
So, I want to get the S8+ that is factory unlocked so I can use the wifi hotspot without issue and get all of the benefits of my watch, but I have heard a horrible rumor that when you put in an att sim that the unlocked s8+ downloads the att bloatware and will not let you have free wifi tethering. I have an unlimited plan and already pay for my internet, I should be allowed to use it as I see fit damn it!
My question is this: If I have an At&t unlimited data plan and buy the International Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8+, can I use the wifi hotspot (wifi tethering) with no problems with it remaining stock, unrooted?
I freaking hope that I can as this would be really the biggest reason for me to buy it and would certainly keep me from buying it if in fact I cannot use the wifi hotspot on it.
Thanks for your time everyone!
Anyone? I am poised to buy this thing if I can use it the way I need to.
If no one else answers before I get home, I have an AT&T sim card I can pop in and check.
These phones shouldn't be downloading bloatware though, at the very most it imposes Network features and restrictions of the carrier you're using.
I don't have any Verizon bloat on mine, but I also haven't been paying attention to whats happening with others, as there isn't very much talk of the unlocked model on here.

You should be able to do whatever the phone is capable of without rooting provided the AT&T stuff isn't interfering.
thanks!

I Thank you. That's what I heard, that (with one of the newer Samsung phones that was unlocked) once an att sim was in it, and linked to that carrier, it dl'ed the bloatware due to something with the att network and it also didn't allow them to use the hotspot for free. I hope that the person was either wrong or lying. I got granfathered in due to my old iphone play when I had a 3G (olllllllld) and the hotspot is the only real reason for me to need unlimited data.

I just received my Unlocked S8+ US version that I bought directly from Samsung.com today and I have ATT and I put in my ATT sim card and I selected the NExtgen APN, and i just tried the hotspot and works perfectly fine and I never had any ATT bloatware download, which should never happen with a non att unlock phone.
awesome!!!!! So, the unlocked version you have is a US At&t that is unlocked and not even the international version? Is it branded At&T on the phone, or no branding?
I've got the USA version, unlocked, no carrier branded and I can activate hotspot without carrier check. I'm on cricket

Got to 8 minutes 10 seconds
In this video, Linus Tech Tips reviews it and says that the first sim inserted in to it gets it to download all of the bloatware for that carrier and others have said that once the att bloat is on you also cannot use the wifi hotspot. I literally have the money in my pocket and am going to bestbuy in the morning before work to get the phone. I pray to God that I can use the wifi hotspot on it. Otherwise I will demand a refund and take it back. I cannot have a phone without the wifi hotspot for free. Anyone with att try the unlocked version by setting it up with their att sim? I'm freaking scared right now!

Get a cheap prepaid sim on T-Mobile or an MNVO of AT&T and use that sim first to set it up then swap with your AT&T, buy passing the while first sim issue.

I can confirm that there are no problems with hotspot. I have the US unlocked version. No AT&T bloatware at all was downloaded when I put the SIM card in. I use tether every day with no issues

I'm on sprint. Just activated phone today, and no bloatware installed. That being said, I cannot seem to start the hotspot. Every time I do, its just shouts itself off. Bluetooth tethering seems to stay on, although I have not tested it yet. Any ideas why that might be? Does sprint block hotspot even on unlocked phones?

Can I use an ATT S8+ on Verizon's network?

Hi,
I was recently gifted an unlocked ATT S8+ (SM-G955U) which I'm trying to activate to my Verizon account. I've read conflicting information about this, and after going to the Verizon store and calling them directly I'm thoroughly confused.
The rep on the phone told me that the phone is "incompatible" with their network based on the IMEI number. From what I gather, the hardware (and model numbers) on all the major carrier's S8+s are the same and simply have different firmware. I've also read that they're interchangeable. Has anyone successfully gotten the ATT S8+ on Verizon? I'm almost feeling like it's something where I would need to jump through more hoops and speak to a manager to get them to do it, but before I did I wanted to get others input. Thanks!
I heard that the phone will work, you'll need to flash the Verizon firmware onto the AT&T phone.
Thanks Richie. Do you think that Verizon is telling me that the IMEI is "incompatible" because I may need to flash another firmware to enable CDMA? Or are some versions of the S4+ really incompatible on their network.
May there be possible success to get them to activate it anyway?

Do you already have an active Verizon SIM card? Like in another phone?

I do not - only because I'm coming from an S4 (which has the larger SIM card). I had to get a new one.

The IMEI thing and Verizon not provisioning your phone to activate on their network is the ONLY obstacle you have.
All the US S8/S8+/Note8 variants are identical and can be cross-flashed to whatever carrier you want. You can easily grab the VZW firmware and flash it on to your AT&T device, fully converting it, however the IMEI won't be in Verizon's system since your particular phone wasn't sold by Verizon.
Somehow get around that and your phone will be fully compatible on VZWs network.

Don't worry about what Verizon reps are telling you because most often than not they are following a standard procedure. And they only Input your IMEI into a service like this one:https://www.verizonwireless.com/bring-your-own-device/#checkDevice
As your IMEI is for an AT&T phone, the brand model has an A appended at the end (as in AT&T).
However, you should still investigate this issue and try the steps recommended by the other guys. You will be able to use your phone with a VZV sim without reaching to Verizon

I have an AT&T S8 + on Verizon's network, had to unlock the phone, I did flash VZV firmware.
Works for me.
Thanks all for the responses! So it does look like I can do it then, but I just need to get Verizon to activate the new SIM. Think if I could find another phone that's compatible, throw the SIM in, activate, then switch the SIM to the S8+ it would work? (Assuming I've flashed the Verizon firmware on it).
Also, I'm trying to find out how to flash the phone properly. I don't really need root, but I'll take it if its easy. Thinking in my scenario, I'd follow this thread, correct?

Yes, if you can get VZW to activate a nano SIM then all you have to do is pop it in your S8+, and it will work perfectly.
You don't HAVE to flash the Verizon firmware, but you'll won't be able to use certain features such as VoLTE and WiFi calling with the ATT firmware, so I recommend it. Not a necessity though.
To change carrier firmware, follow this thread:

Can't help you with rooting. Sorry, I stopped rooting my phones long ago.

This is great information! I'll call back Verizon and knowing all this I have something to back myself up with to at least try to convince them to activate the SIM (if not, I'll find a temporary phone to activate).
Thank you (and everyone else) for all the help!
I was able to get Verizon to activate the SIM and IMEI of the new S8. When I checked my account online to verify, it shows the correct numbers. Unfortunately, the phone is still not able to make calls or connect to the mobile network.
Following this, I rooted and flashed a deodexed stock ROM/firmware that is compatible with all carriers. This made no difference in the issue.
On the status bar, normal reception for my area is shown. There is no data (LTE/3G, etc.) connection, however. In looking at the APN settings, there are multiple Verizon options to choose. "Verizon Internet" (VZWINTERNET) is what is selected. Under the network operators, Automatic is selected. I tried changing it to Manual, but I do not get an option to select Verizon. Only ATT or T-Mobile. Under SIM Card Status, It's says that I'm on an unknown network.
Any ideas on what I could do to diagnose this? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to be able to get this phone to work so bad!
Thanks!
Success! I was about to give up, but decided to try a few more things.
1) To register a new SIM on VZW, it needs to initially go into a VZW based phone to work correctly. Once doing this, I saw some changes:
- I could now see my phone number.
- Verizon was an option under the network operators setting.
This did not solve my problem, however, as I still could not connect to the network. When selecting VZW, the request would fail and say to try again later. So onto the next (and last!) thing I did...
2) Download VZW firmware and flash via ODEN (The Comsey version, but I don't think that matters). I added the BL, AP, CP & CSC (included in the zip file) using the default options. I found this firmware at the below link and grabbed the latest version. The download was very slow for me (I had to run it overnight), but numerous posters stated that they are a reliable source so I took a chance.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8-plus/SM-G955U1/VZW/download/G955U1UES2AQL1/201500/
I'm just so glad everything is working now. Thank you so much to all who have responded to the thread to guide me in the right direction! Hope this helps someone else who may be having the same trouble.
