Note 4 doesn't support 128GB SD cards? - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

From the CNET review: "The back cover pulls off to access the battery and microSD card slot, which you can fill with an up-to-64GB card (but not the 128GB you see on some other phones). "
Is that correct.. no support for 128GB ??

I saw the same review when released but I haven't seen any evidence to support that since.

it supports 128gb cards, there are videos floating around on YouTube that prove it

It supports 128GB cards

http://youtu.be/mGa5lLjfUUQ?list=UU9cbw1mHe71NbNE-21TLoug

I have a 128gb sd card in mine right now. No problems

Someone should hit up CNET and have them edit their review... bunch of Apple fanboys anyways.
I helped phone arena fix their Cat 4 error on the tmobile specs for the phone... most places are open to correction.

Same here. My 128gb SanDisk works fine in my Note 4.

Well crap... I need a 128GB card now. I already maxed out my 64GB with 1080p videos.

Looking at the UHS-3 cards 'cause of the 4k recording. Wiki
(Class 10 now evidently has 2 write speed levels. (UHS 1 10Mb min and UHS 3 30 mb min for 4K video)
The biggest I'm seeing in the UHS-3 is 64mb .
Have any of you 128 users tried to feed 4k video into it yet?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Speed_class_rating

They printed the specs when 128gb card wasn't available. Now manufactures came out with 128gb and they just not update the specs, however for sure 128gb should work fine with various devices too (where the specs said only 64gb), not just the note.

Realize that you don't need U3 for the note 4, the Note 4 is incapable of reading/writing at those speeds. No phone out there supports those high UHS-I speeds. 4K on the Note 4 is 50Mbits (roughly 6MBytes/sec). A class 10 card is good up to 10Mbytes/sec (or 80Mbits/sec). Plenty fast for 4K.
GoPro 4 requires U3, but that's something entirely different

I bought the 128gb 48mbps SanDisk for my note 3 and it works perfect on my note 4.

When the card wasn't available? Lol what are you talking about, the 128GB microSD cards were first out in February http://www.computerworld.com/articl...leashes-world-s-first-128gb-microsd-card.html
Unless Samsung started printed the Note 4 boxes 7 months ago :silly:

The note 4 manual even states it can use 128gb cards so RTFM CNET!

Note 4 supports SDXC so I don't see why it wouldn't be able to read 128gb sd cards

Yes the same card as I'm using - you can get them for around £38 in the UK now

I bought a cheap slow one. Its class 2 thats the only kind they make Dandisk 16gig Class to for 75 bucks.
Anyone know the speed difference between Class 2 and 6. Someone posted that the writing speed doubled but the reading spead was just a little better.

The Class refers to the number of Mb/sec. Therefore Class 2 is 2Mb /sec. Class 4 is 4 and Class 6 is 6. See http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/speed_class/

The 16Gb MicroSD of SanDisk only comes in Class2
(See Sandisk specs.)
And that's the only 16Gb microSD I've seen so far.
So not a lot of choice I'm afraid

This is the same card I've got Call of Duty 2 PPC Working on.
Just noticed the picture on your first post is different to that of SanDisk microSDHC™ 16GB Card
Note the 2 next to SanDisk on the image which my card has too - so be careful of fake cards
My Sandisk 16GB MicroSDHC card is working perfectly for a couple of weeks now (its Class 2, currently the only Class available in 16GB microSDHC cards - many are advertising Class 4 but this is incorrect).
Anyone know how fast Touch Pros writing/reading speed is on memorycards?
Im about to order the Sandisk 16gb class 2 now, but am a bit afraid that the speed is to low?? My second choice is the Sandisk Ultra 8gb class 6..
Is their a noticable difference between them, except the storage?
Will be used mainly for, tomtom music and video and some gaming.
I mean, can the TP really take advantage of the high speed of the Ultra card?
Thanks
Has anyone seen a 32Gb mico SD working on the FUZE?
Anyone found them in the USA yet? (besides Ebay).

32 gig sd card

I am guessing no one except online has the 32 gig sd card. Plenty of places have the 16, but not able to find the 32 besides online. Makes me think any online or not legit.
Anyone have an idea?
I got mine from verizon. I'm not sure if they have them in the store but it was free next day shipping so I bought mine online.
Why was this thread even created when you replied to a thread of the exact same topic at around 7am the same day? Either way....
I tried to organize a group buy for 32GB Class 6 MicroSD cards when I was still on the Samsung Moment forums...needless to say, it was harder than I thought. It seems that they're starting to become more reliable and coming down in price vs when they first started hitting the market. Early on people complained about issues of actually only storing 2-16GB's, sometimes losing information, etc due to something with the formatting of the cards from their producers. As time has gone, they seem to have gotten better and are down to around $50...but I have yet to try one personally.
I got my sandisk 32GB from amazon for around 100USD its a class 2 but read good things about class 2 sandisk vs cheap class 4/6 cards
just ran a test and i write @ 5.5-6.5 MB/s and read @ 11MB/s on mine... testing installed in phone mounted to pc with stock cable
and 29.71GB useable space

That is about the same speed of the 16 GB samsung card that came with my phone.
That's because theyre both only Class 2 cards. They work fine, but once we get apps2sd working, we'll need Class 6 cards for them to be efficient.

a good C2 will beat a cheap C6... just saying.. class 6 is rated differently by different manufacturers.. some rate buy write and some rate by speed...
sandisk is by write and even so i am writing at 6MBs and reading at 11MBs which is plenty fast for a2sd-ext, actually its in spec for a C6 sd... and thats not using a straight card reader.. thats just mounted and using stock cable fwiw...
just sayin... dont get some 50 dollar "class6" and expect miracles when it comes to speed.

I know what you're "just sayin", both times. Per a Wikipedia article from the people who first wrote the Apps2SD app stated that a Class 6 card is needed to match the processor speed so the app can run efficiently.

yes, but a class 6 writes at a minimum of 6MB... that being said a GOOD C2 will be just as efficient.

Sandisk 8GB Mobile Ultra

Hi,
after having lots of lag issues with class 10 cards and data2sd or data2whatever, I found out that what's most important for a card is random write speeds.
Even though they can sustain really high sequential write speeds (more than 10MB/s), class 10 cards have really bad random write. Unfortunately, I didn't test the random write speeds on the 2 class 10 cards I bought (and returned...). From what I've seen on the web, these speeds can be as low as 8KB/s at 4Kb block size
What I can tell you is that my old 4gb class2 sandisk random write speed is about 30KB/s at 4Kb block size. This card was a LOT better than the class 10 cards I tried, in terms of lag.
I bought a Sandisk 8GB Mobile Ultra, class 4, and I'm really happy with it. The random write speed is 1.7MB/s at 4kb block size (almost 57x faster than my old card).
So, my conclusion is: If you want to use scripts like data2sd or data2whatever, go for cards with high random write speeds instead of class.
Well, so i am happy i bought same card you now have. but still some apps seems a bit laggy even with the ultra card.
install sd tools from market then see how fast they really r
I also have a sandisk mobile ultra 8gb class4...price 19,90€ from mediaworld.
It's a fine card capable of write and read small files in very very short times
8GB class 6 Sandisk mobile ultra - I'm affraid there's no class 10 card to compare with this one

[Q] Optimum microSD CLASS for Galaxy R

What is the max read/write speed Galaxy R supports? If I go for Class 10, can Galaxy R fully make use of the speed microSD offers?
Also I was going through other forums and there were comments mentioning Class 2 cards of some companies (read sandisk) faster than Class 4/Class 6 cards of others Is it true?
Final question - which one should I go for - sandisk or transcend?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

i think you should go for a class 4 card.
as this phone does not have 1080p recording, we wont be even using the class 4 card to its full capacity.
A class 6 in my opinion. Is better to have more, than less.
Considering price, availability in India and some reading up of threads on XDA forums, I bought Transcend 32GB Class 4 micro sdhc on ebay (1800INR/36USD). Using it on my GR and satisfied till now. Getting 4.4 MB/s Write and 18.6 MB/s Read speeds on an average.
Basicaly the diference between class 4, 6 and 10 will be in the writing, because reading they will be near 18-19MB/s. I have bench with sd tools and Antutu a 2Gb class 4 by kingston and my actual 32Gb class 10 by Samsung. The diference in writing speed is evident, but using one, or the other is not a big diference because this phone needs only 2-3mb/s writting.
In another hand, with tegra 2 and the 5Mpx sensor it's not impossible to think about an improvement in recording video in fullhd in a near future, of course with no high rate of fps... But this posibility has to be considered now because flash memories are in a cheap moment and class 10 microsd can be found at the same price of a 2 months ago class 4.
Another advantage with the class 10 microsd is that if you use to load movies, or heavy files to your phone you will need less than a half of time to transfer them. And I think, but take that as a feeling, the class 10 microsd opens quicker the galery, specialy when you have an album with a big number of pics. It could be sth related with latency, or better acces to diferent parts of the memory... This makes me exceptic about the reading benchs of Antutu.
I leave you some screencaptures of the benchmarks.

If you use to have a lot of apps, games and gps maps it could be interesting to change the external microsd memory to the main memory of the system. This will let you have 32gb for apps, games, etc... And in this case the best choice is a class 10 memory, because it will increase the system performance!!

MicroSD Card test, Samsung Pro vs SanDisk Ultra. UHS1 vs UHS1

So, in an attempt to help give back to a community that's provided me with info like this countless times, I am going to compare two high end Micro SD cards, and one pretty typical class 10. I threw the class 10 in at the last second kinda as a baseline and I'm glad I did

Write - 7.9MB/s
Read - 30.87MB/s
Samsung Pro UHS-1
Write - 16.05MB/s
Read - 27.22MB/s
SanDisk Ultra UHS-1

Sandisk Ultra 32GB Micro SDHC vs Samsung PRO 64GB Micro SDXC (Using Samsung Note 3)
First post!
I would also like to submit my test results.
Bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 32GB (9505) and it came with a free Sandisk Ultra 32GB Micro SDHC card.
I just received my Samsung PRO 64GB Micro SDXC from Amazon.co.uk today and thought I would do some benchmarks on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 32GB (9505).
Please check the images attached to this post down below.
Results using A1 SD Bench Android App
Sandisk Ultra 32GB Micro SDHC
Read: 21.14MB/s
Write: 8.07MB/s
Samsung PRO 64GB Micro SDXC
Read: 22.50MB/s
Write: 14.41MB/s
There we have it. Samsung is nearly twice as fast as for write speed. Read speeds are similar. Nothing close to the 70Mb/s read and 20MB/s write speed that Samsung advertise.
Both cards were tested after a reboot and closing all apps in memory and then running A1 SD Bench.
Although both cards are Class 10 and UHS-I, the note 3 cannot take advantage of UHS-I speeds as it is not UHS-I compliant. I'm sure if i put these two in my laptop and ran a test they would both be faster and closer to their respected advertised speeds.
I would have liked to have bought the Sandisk Extreme 64GB Micro SDXC card, but it's so ridiculously overpriced and I assume the read / write speeds would be slightly better than the Samsung PRO, but as my Note 3 is not UHS-I compliant, the price is not worth it if using solely in your Samusung Galaxy Note 3 (9505). I think the non LTE version running the enoxys processor is UHS-I compliant, so would be interesting in running the tests on that phone, but that phone is rare in the UK.
If anyone has this phone and any of the 3 cards i have mentioned in this post, please do post your results.
Hope this post helps someone who is deciding on which to buy.
Got my sammy pro sd a couple days ago. Haven't had time to test it. Had to find a kernal that supports exfat lol.

The Qualcomm versions are useless since they don't support UHS.
The i9500 is semi-useless because it is configured by default to support only SDR50 bandwidths, but can be raised to SDR104 in a kernel.
The N900 Note 3 supports SDR104 out of the box and can fully use the full speeds.
Hi everyone,
According to your recommendations, just bought this card: Samsung MicroSDHC Plus - (class 10, UHS-1,48 MB/s) 32 gb. I' ll let you know about the benchmarks!!
I bought it because I was using an old microSD card and the results with A1 SD were awful: Writing 3,9MB/s - Reading 11,7MB/s.
