[Q] [HELP] [MEMORY] -get more app memory - HTC One SV

Hello,
I have the basic K2_UL with no "extra" (no root, no s-off etc.. ).
It's updated to 4.2.2.
The memory management for this phone is crappy : (sorry for the bad screenshot)
App Storage : System and non movable app 3.85 GB .

It's very few left when using non movable app : like Chrome, Yahoo Mail, Outlook and OneNote.... ). Not available from Ms Windows.
Phone Storage : User Data and movable Apps 4.15 GB. It is to store user data when no SD card is used.
Not really used if you have an SD Card
SD Storage : You'd better get one...
So i cannot update any app anymore. What is the easier way to increase App Storage?
Again, i cannot move more app. i've moved all the possible ones !
Thanks for your help.

Have you tried
[MOD][HTC One SV] Swap your internal and external memory (sd card)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306841
Not sure if it is for your model phone so please read the entire post.

Hello.
Sorry, but you didn't read the message.
It's not about switching SD_Card and Phone Storage (that contains Movable apps) that i need.
It's increase internal memory. This memory cannot be accessed from windows and is a linux partition.
Internal memory contains non movable apps : chrome, facebook etc... It's always full.
I don't want to root nor trick the phone i was asking if there was another solution. There is none.
I check my bank account with it and i want to keep it safe.
This phone is a crappy and i'll NEVER buy an htc again.
Regards,

without rooting your phone there is absolutely no solution except buy a phone with larger storage.. the internal storage on this device is the only flaw i had with it but there is an easy workaround that only requires root.. i check my bank to and fail to see how rooting my phone is made it any less safe.. the method i use simply creates the linux partition you speak of on the sd card.. ext4.. and "extends" your internal and this allows you to move your apps to the extended partition thus freeing up as much space as you desire.. i have 32gb of internal space(i grabbed a class 10 32gb sd off amazon for like $15.. boost variant caps at 32 but others go up to 64).. if you are interested go here to an older post of mine.. i would have just included the links here but some new rule doesnt allow me to post outside links because i have less than 10 posts on my account.. again root IS required for this method.. good luck

Also I have not modded this phone at all its completely stock with boost.

the speed at which the sd card reads/writes is not a factor.. i personally went with a c10 so there was no chance of lag/stutter when running an app/game from the extended partition.. most apps/games are small enough in file size that the speed shouldnt matter.. you will need to root your device and should always make a backup.. store your backup in multiple locations(computer/flash drive/dropbox/cloud) to be safe if ever something happens to your phone help will be much easier if you have a backup ready to go

[q] internal sd and external sd

heres my problem... I used app2sd thinking it was moving my apps to external sd but it moves them from phone to internal sd. I contacted the developer about it and their response was that the android os handles that function and that their app only acts as a ui. something like that anyway. maybe they didnt understand what I meant. is there an app available that can actually move apps to external sd instead of internal sd?
How do you know it's moving them to this "internal memory" and not your sdcard?
Edit: just reread, by external do you mean an external like usb drive or something?
Ok. this phone has 3 memory sections in settings. external micro sd card(32gb), internal memory(6gb), and internal phone storage(1.2gb). I used app2sd and moved all movable apps to sd. they are not on my external sd card. all the apps are in my internal memory. the phone thinks they're in my sd card but they're not. if I go into the manage apps section and view an app that is suppose to be on my sd card, it has the option to move to phone available, instead of move to sd card. basically its implying that the app is on the sd card. but its not.

Dude i know EXACTLY what you mean but for some reason no one either knows or seems to care about this problem.

I don't think its because they don't care. I think its because they don't understand. I'm determined to get to the bottom of this. and when I'm done posting this, I'm going to send lg a message.
I do want to explain a little more.... when I use es file explorer and it first opens ups, it puts me in phone/sdcard the first file in that directory is _externalSD so when it shows me that im in phone/sdcard im actually in the root of the phone memory(built in 6gb-non-removable). the file _externalSD is actually my external micro sd card. now, if the phone is smart enough to create a dcim folder in the _externalSD folder and when altering settings in the camera app to save pics and video to external sd(it can do this), then why cant it save these apps to physical external micro sd card? seems to me all they have to do is change the storage location in the system to the correct location. they got it right for the camera!

First thing first. LG from the beginning shouldn't have separated the internal storage into 2 sections (mind it that the phone itself only has one internal card). If you see my attachment then you'll see what I'm saying. Notice the second and second last storage icons. Both are showing ONLY internal card.

Read points 6 & 7 from here
You can use your sd card as primary storage and increase internal memory to whatever size you want.
Custom roms have this option inbuilt.
also, please search before you post

I think that this is not about a memory. Here is a matter about it that when one time you download application from Play Store, you it have on SD Card, and install it when you want, without need for download application from Play Store again.
in simple words you can't to it directly.
check this site , you may get something ( I haven't tried )

Download another markets like 1mobile market , somehow it's very similar to Google play
Playstore also works just like the markets you just mentioned
The apk is saved in data/app.
Just copy them to sdcard and save it.
But the OP hasn't replied what exactly what he wants?
ya I guess he wants it directly into sd

I would like Play Store to download apk file to SD Card while updating an app. I've got only ~55 MB free of internal storage (while everything possible is moved to sdcard or sdext). I cannot even upgrade some games like Cut The Rope or Fruit Ninja. Play downloads an apk (~40-45 MB) to internal storage, and then tries to install when ~10 MB of free place left. Of course immediately informs about insufficient storage. If it would save on apk on SD card, that would probably help.
You may have to move some apks or data off your internal and move them back after you've situated. A helpful tool I use is DiskView, a free app from Play Store that analyzes your internal memory (system partitions included) and gives you a file browser showing the percentage used of every folder/file. With this you can find a lot of system stuff you don't need like language packs under /system/VODB (40MB), facial recognition database under /system/lib, also libSwypeCore.so in /lib if you don't use Swype (a few MB, remains even if uninstalled). So yeah, try it and see if you can free some space.

Memory Sony Xperia J

Honestly i don't know what i should feel when i use this phone.
Just look at the specification at Sony Official Site
But in fact we got 3 types of memory
Phone memory = 700mb +
Internal storage and SD Card
Even at the official site don't say anything about phone memory , but All Installed apps go to phone memory, what the hell i see here
700mb+ ONLY , what to store exactly ? only installed brave frontier game cost 300 mb , and it can't be moved to sd card or internal storage. What the hell i buy this phone exactly
Feel like got scammed ..
When i got info from my friends who buy samsung note 3 , they don't get this phone memory crap, and only got internal storage 16/32/64 gb and the sd card. And again what the hell i see here...
Really i think that i should buy more better phone earlier than this junk which can't even install 3-4 more games
Or is there any way to swap the phone memory to internal or sd card ? any help is appreciated , i already use link2sd or foldermount but it's like not get any effect since some apps can't be moved from phone memory

Then stop talking like you regret everything. It's your fault, 'cause you buy a crappy phone without checking first the specs. -_-
not my fault, i check the specs already, but they not listed the phone memory 700mb +
i am not regret because of the internal or sd card , even at the official site they don't list the phone memory capacity

If you want to check some specs, try GSMArena
Try the edited vold that i post. Then use link2sd to move all your apps in sdcard.
Or try some custom roms.
well gsm arena is the same, they don't list the phone memory either
Card slot microSD, up to 32 GB
Internal 4 GB (2 GB user available), 512 MB RAM
btw, what is that vold for ? to swap the phone memory to internal or sd card ?

It is because of the system apps. Not sure, but i think it is.
And most of the devices has the same way of memory.
Like my galaxy player, it has 8gb memory. 4gb usable.
Now my device memory has only 1.4gb free usage.

How to move app data only to the microSD card on your Galaxy S7, S7 Edge

Another important advantage of having expandable storage on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is the ability to move large apps or games to the added storage space.
The process to move apps is simple and shouldn’t affect your day-to-day use of any apps or the device.

Here’s what you need to do:
With a microSD card installed, launch the Settings app.
Find and select Storage from the list of options.
Tap on Internal storage.
Select Apps.
Locate the app you’d like to move, and tap on it.
Under the “Storage Used” section, tap on the Change button and select SD Card.
On the next screen, select Next and let the phone complete the move. :good:
With the transfer complete, the app will run and act normally. Should you remove the microSD card from your device, the app’s icon will be replaced with an icon indicating it is stored on an SD card. You will be unable to use the app until you place the microSD card back into the device.
If after moving an app to the SD card you experience performance issues, you can move the app back to your phone’s internal storage by following the same directions outlined above, and select “Internal storage.”‘ :highfive:
OK... from my 10GB of movable apps... it moved 300MB
Adoptable storage. there is no way around.
32GB - especially in combination with Gear VR is a bad joke
You know 50% of S7 users can´t watch videos from the SD Card. seems to be a random thing.

Just realised only some apps have the change option, e.g snapchat... adoptable storage all the way me thinks...
After move, all data still on internal, shows 0mb on SD card.
Any one got any idea?
Im also getting that, kind of. Of 3+ gbs i tried to move only like 200mb actually moved
I moved around 2 gigs of apps, it does work.
Problem is i can't see it with a file manager, probably because its encrypted.
I am also having the problem where the app is only partially transferred to the micro SD card. Transferring KOTOR (a 2.4GB app) only transferred around 600MB. Hearthstone (1GB) moved abour 300MB... Guess I'll be enabling adoptable storage.

Is this some bug, joke or what? Just moved about 17gb of games and it actually made me 2gb of free space. It seems completly ignoring obb files. I use lot of huge apps, I was completly counting on this when buying this device as portable "console" . I am so pissed of. Bought it for its performance but what can I do with performance without space. And I dont even have VR yet. Does adoptable storage affect framerate in games and avoid varranty, or not? Did anybody trie it? I have 64GB C10 sdxc Adata card, need to know if it can run games (most heavy ones) smooth. Dont care about multitask, I am focused on single task performance and gaming FPS. Thx for any advice if adoptable storage is worth it in my case
Came here to talk about the same thing. It seems moving to 'external storage' doesn't do much of anything for games. I moved Star Wars Uprising and Order and Chaos 2 to my external and afterwards it still shows Uprising using about 2.2 GB of internal and more than 1 GB of O&C2. What gives??
Has anyone tried out the adoptable storage option and its gaming impact?
Some games still show as if they are on internal even tho they are on sd card.
World of tanks for example. Shows all over 4 gigs on internal storage, but it's on the SD card. I've tested this and found it to be true
Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk
Apparently the title is misleading. It seems that this does not move the entire app like with A2SD but only sets the location where the app stores its data, eg user & configuration files, etc.
We'll need someone who's device is rooted and unencrypted to analyse what gets moved and what doesn't.

Adoptable storage question, storage always full

Hi all!
Yesterday I bought my Moto G 2015 (8GB) with a 32GB SD-card. I formatted the SD-card as 'adoptable storage', but after installing some (10+) apps, my internal memory was full. I thought that the adoptable storage was a solution for a full internal memory? Can anybody tell me how this works?
Trust me, I Googled a lot, but no one seemed to have the exact same problem.
I rooted the phone, and can't get Link2SD working.. I'm on 6.0 btw.
I'm also looking for an answer to this. Seems wrong to me.
When I put the card in, it asked if I wanted to use it for adoptable storage, I did.
Within a month, there are low memory warnings, although the SD Card is empty?

We've cleared the cache now, which has given some breathing room, but why hasn't it just expanded into the SD card?
Then, how do you explain the maths of this?
1.7GB + 7MB does not equal 3.38GB...
you will have some where an option to move your apk and datas to memorycard,
do onething.. goto APP INFO, search for move option..
Are you sure? That doesn't sound like adoptable storage. I thought it was supposed to blend internal and SD card into one. If I select to move to SD, that implies there is an SD... Instead of it all being one merged internal memory.
It also doesn't explain why there are low memory errors.
Facebook app lags or freezes on SD card (Adoptable Storage ). any solution ?
I have the same problem.
i bought a 64gb sd card but beside few apps and some directories you can't move everything to it.
I don't have any pictures, everything is on Google photos, i use CCleaner to remove everything every 2 days...
after a year my smartphone internal memory is 95% full with only the Google apps.
I can't even update them, Google play can't do it because of insufficient storage..
this morning i got notifications from the sms app saying there is not enough room for new msg
beside CCleaner to remove cache & tmp stuff i have no solution.
today I started to check how to resize the partitions, like /system for example: disk usage shows lots of free space there..
Did you migrate all data to the new adopted storage? Android won't start using the SD card as adopted storage until you do... in the Storage screen, press the 3 dot menu, is there an option to Move or Migrate data? If so, you never finished the adoption process and the card is just sitting there waiting for the adoption process to "finish" so to speak.
hi,yes i did this, it was the main idea when I bought the 64 gb ultra fast SD card.
like the op i though the SD card and the internal storage will be seen as a unique drive.
another idea: i'm using cm and i though maybe the Samsung original rom is better partitioned giving the user more free space..

to answer andycri, the weird math for the disk usage come from hidden space used by Android on /data
The 2 workarounds I have used on my Moto G 3rd Gen (2015) are:
1.a Go to Settings, Storage & USB.
1.b Touch Internal storage.
1.c Touch Cached data.
1.d Clear cached data? box appears. Touch OK.
2.a Touch Apps. And let it calculate and sort.
2.b Touch Google App.
2.c Touch the MANAGE SPACE button.
2.d Touch the CLEAR GOOGLE SEARCH DATA button.
2.e Touch OK.
2.f Touch the back arrow button.
2.g Exit Storage, Exit Settings.
That should make enough space to update your phone's apps, etc.
I have noticed (using Android Assistant) that a few photos and videos appear (reported as) in the internal memory but are really on the SD card. I suspect it is a non-repairable bug or feature to Android 6.0.1. If I was rooted I think I could verify the location of those errant data files.
Surprisingly, I have a Moto X 16gb where memory has never been a problem. My next phone is going to have the maximum internal memory, where memory should not be a problem.
