10/27/2014 - It appears that the original safestrap links are being taken down from the original development threads for the S4 and S5 variants. Posting link to v3.72 here in order to preserve this very important piece of development: Safestrap-JFLTE-3.72-kk-B01.apk
It works perfectly.

Just a heads up. Couldn't get old back ups to work on new Safestrap.
@muniz_ri
Is it normal to not be able to change the system partition size when creating a new rom slot??? Trying to save as much space as possible and I know a gpe rom does not need 2.7gb...lol

You will need to create a new backup using the new safestrap then the back/restore function should work.

I have not played around with partition size but eventually I will look into optimizing. Thx for the heads up.

normal install?
so if i'm on a clean never installed ss before, but have root on stock touchwiz (mk2), and i want to install this version now cuz rom slots work, should i follow the original walkthrough on 3.71/72 and stuff replacing the apk with the new one (3.75), or are the instructions changed somewhere else besides the apk..

I have not tested v3.75 on MK2. If you want to test there is no need to first install earlier versions. Just install v3.75.
Right on, got it installed, updated my backup and it works perfectly.
I haven't messed around with the slots in a while (hehehe), but you are able to keep a stock ROM in the stock slot and flash custom ROMs in the ROM-Slots right? If I had say, iB4STiD's Goldfinger ROM currently in my stock slot, would I be able to Odin the NC1 stock rooted ROM into the stock slot, install the Goldfinger ROM into ROM-Slot-1 and then flash the back-up into that ROM-Slot-1 even though it was made from the Stock Slot?
I'm pretty sure that's a dumb question, but I just wanted to make sure.

so far it seems that backups from ss 3.72 will not work with the latest release, if that's what you're asking at the end.

No, I've already made a new backup. I was wondering if I could take the backup I have made from the Stock slot, flash the same ROM into ROM-Slot-1 and then flash that backup into ROM-Slot-1 so that my stock slot can have just a stock ROM in it. I am essentially trying to transfer the ROM I am using now from the Stock ROM slot to ROM-Slot 1 to free up my Stock ROM to keep a stock ROM in.
UPDATE: I've given it a shot and it appears that once a backup is made by the new system, it can be used in any slot. I did a backup of me GF ROM that was in my stock slot, ODINed back to stock NC1 in my stock slot, partitioned ROM-slot1, installed GF in it and then restored the backup in ROM-slot1.
so 3.72 works on NI1
So I was thinking about the step to uninstall Safestrap 3.72, but the apk app never ran on NC1 it always Force Closed. I have since updated/rerooted running NI1 now and safestrap apk app runs fine. Nice surprise I was going to have to figure out how to manually uninstall/restore w/e. Thanks again for 3.75.

I've ran into the opposite problem. It always worked fine for me on NC1 and now that I've updated to NI1 safestrap force closes when I try to open it.
Exposed installer framework will reboot the phone from rom slot 1. Also I was able to restore an old backup from stock rom slot only.
Slots are working, yay

LG 4.4.2 Stock Rom - Massively debloated, only has a few apps left. All LG features should work. Requires custom recovery. Do not flash AOSP or 4.2.2 kernels.
This includes my new updater script for kitkat so it actually has a /system folder instead of the system.img.
You can find the standalone updater script here. I believe it is the first created, every KK rom I've seen is not editable using a system.img. It took a few hours to create.
The kernel is stock but I made some small adjustments and toolchain fixes.
I have a custom kernel for this up in this forum.
Instructions.
Full wipe besides for internal storage
Flash Kitkat modem here (If you aren't already using it)
Flash Rom here (mirror soon, but not yet since I need to reupload)
Flash SuperSu here
If you get a "symlinks failed" (happens right away if system doesn't mount properly) reboot back into recovery re-wipe and flash again.
You are the man!?!?? I should have never left your lg 4.4 build. Flaked another and paid for it.
Thanks again doc!!

It will download if you go to the torrent file using a file explorer like estrongs. I don't know why it doesn't work the way it used to by just opening up after downloading the torrent file but at least your not totally screwed.

Looking good so far. One silly thing that I saw missing. I like the weather animation on the lockscreen. Is there a way to add it to this?
To flash this version do you still need the a bootloader or can the g be used now?

twrp 6.3 failed had to upgrade to 2.7 for it to flash.
i've tried every single Kitkat rom I have get my hands on, followed the instructions to the letter and if I turn this screen off and turn it back on, its just lines. White lines or colored lines. Every single f*cking kitkat stock rom. I don't get it. i'm ready to throw the thing into the river.
I know its not your rom, and it works flawlessly as long as I don't turn off the screen.

This is probably one of the most confusing issues to me since everyone here has the same device, downgrading to the same exact partitions yet some people have these line issues which makes no sense to me at all. I've been trying to figure it out but its a pretty confusing issue, its not like we have different variants. We can maybe try upgrading tz and rpm partitions since they will work with this bootloader
The only thing complete stock has that this don't is the new partitions and I'm really not sure why it's causing issues for some people

Hi guys,
I have ran into a problem. I tried to flash ElementalX ROM to my Nexus 5 and it will not boot. I have installed a few other ROMS with no problems at all. However, when I try to flash the N5-0.43 version of ElementalX it will not boot. Any ideas why not?

I installed the 4.4.3 factory image first. Then, rooted it. Is this the correct gapps verison gapps-kk-20140105-signed? I also tried using the 4.4.3 Google Stock Package but every time I tried to flash it I got a message saying it failed.
What elemental x rom? I thought that is only a kernel.
If you flashed the factory image, then you just need to flash the kernel - no need for any gapps .. (and the gapps you posted there seems "old", for 4.4.3 it should be something from June )

Opps yes I guess it is just a kernel. I even tried flashing it without any gapps and when it reboots it gets stuck at the Google screen
If you flash the factory image, then there's no need to flash gapps. Reflash factory image, then reboot. After successful boot, reboot to recovery and flash elementalX

If you are stock be sure to flash the aosp version (not the cm one). Other than that use all the defaults in aroma installer of ex and make sure you don't apply any under volt (use the stock frequencies).
If that fails go back to clean system and stock kernel, do a full system boot and try again!

I am flashing the AOSP ElementalX-N5-0.43 on top of the Factory 4.4.3 image which is rooted. Maybe the problem was that I was doing a factory reset and stuff like I was flashing a custom ROM. I am just going to try to flash it and nothing else now.
************ It worked that time. Thanks for your help everyone.
Does anyone know if there is any Custom ROM's out yet that use 4.4.3 that I could use with the ElementalX kernal for 4.4.3? Right now I am just using the stock ROM. Thanks again

There really isn't much difference between 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 - I didn't even know 0.43 was only for 4.4.3. I've been running it for a couple of days on 4.4.2 without issue, so I doubt that is the cause of it not booting.

Ahhh okay thank you for your reply. Can I make any changes to ElemetalX functions from within the OS? I'm trying to figure out what all I can do with it. I'm also trying to find some other cool stuff I can add to my phone. Being new to all this I am sure there is a lot I don't know about. I have been reading up on Exposed and see there is some cool stuff you can install with it. I'm just trying to figure out what some cool options would be.
********How can I uninstall ElemetalX and flash Bricked-Kernel instead? I want to try that one as it has faux123 sound control built into it. I am having a hard time hearing calls and stuff on my Nexus 5
Kernels flash over each other. However with custom kernels its best to reflash the rom or restore a Nandroid backup first.
First thing to do is to read all the sticky threads

Thanks for your help I really appreciate it. Sorry for all the questions. I'm just trying to get the hang of all this. I restored my backup of the stock ROM. Then I flashed the latest nightly build of CM. I used the signed kk gapps from 1/05/2014 I believe it was. I can't remember if that was the right date but I think I'm close. I'm not at home right now to check. However, it was the latest one that was showing and I think it was def from January. Anyways after flashing CM nightly and gapps I have a couple doubles of the same apps. There are two that I spotted so far. There is two camera apps and two calendar apps. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong like flash the wrong gapps? Can I just uninstall the two Google versions of those apps and flash my kernel now? Thanks again for your help.

It doesn't matter what date the gapps package was put together. The reason you have two camera apps and two calendar apps is because the gapps package/or the ROM you flashed had the AOSP camera and AOSP calendar, then when flashing the other .zip/installing from Play Store it installs the Google variant. You can have AOSP camera and Google camera installed at the same time, i.e. the same with the calendar.
Flash your kernel, it should be fine.

Thanks for the fast response.
This is great!...I thought most tmo devs had moved on...thank you soooo much!
I am the new owner of a used g2 and I have my stock rom rooted. I have been waiting to select a custom ROM and finally someone has come up with something that I am going to try. So your new ROM will be the cherry popper.
I've been on AOSP/CM based Lollipop ROMs for a while now. I've wanted to try LG's 5.0+ and I think your ROM is a good excuse to pull the trigger!
Will flash it this weekend.
Thank you very much for this. WIll upgrade from 30a.

Awesome! Many thanks for this!
Quick question, if I changed the DPI to 400, do you think it'll affect Lollipop in any way? I did that with KK ROM's with no hitch so just making sure it won't on this one. Thanks!
Did you try AutoRec for the 801?
Looks great! can't wait to try!
I can't wait to try this on my TMO G2. I am and have been running a stock firmware simply because none of the other interesting TMO G2/G3 ROMs offer wifi calling (which is a must when in my place).
Again awesome looking ROM! I was just going to run AutoRec then load this since I'm on a stock firmware. Shouldn't be any prob's right?
BTW, Which superUser version is on this? Any bugs to look out for?
Thanks!
Thank you for your work and time. Now to the question What exactly has been "debloated" from this ROM?

Most basic bloat stuff. Don't really have list. Just do a backup first.

TWRP installed.
I followed the instructions exactly and my TWRP went from 2.7.0.0 to a newer version (can't remember the exact number off the top of my head). My understanding is bootstack installs Twrp.

FEATURES:
Based on stock AT&T Lollipop ROM, partially debloated.
This is the full stock ROM installable via TWRP with the AT&T bloat removed with a few MOD's added.
INSTALLATION:
Install via TWRP recovery. Note this was designed specifically to be installed from KitKat or Lollipop (hasn't been tested on Jellybean, but could still work). This does not require any special version of TWRP. Basically as long as you have a working custom recovery it WILL work. Just do the customary 3 wipes and install ROM. Note: After reboot you will have stock recovery, more on that later.
The reason why I started this project was because no one to date had provided a way to easily get to stock AT&T Lollipop, short of taking an OTA, which only works if you are on the AT&T network or via the DLPKGFILE, but that was not an easy solution and prone to errors. The advantage of my approach is potential future compatibility with AT&T's future OTA's and the advent of AUTOREC V2. If you still wish to have TWRP after first boot just download the D800 Autorec from the play store. If a future OTA arrives, then you can easily use that utility to restore the stock recovery. Another benefit of my approach has to do with root, it is maintained yet download mode doesn't detect you have root which also can aid in future updates, warranty, etc. To test this I restored my phone to stock 20C via TOT, rooted with Stump Root, installed Autorec v1 to get TWRP. After that was done I rebooted into TWRP, installed the ROM and was in Lollipop in a mater of minutes. :good:

exciting
very exciting. cant wait to try it out. since rumor has it we get 5.1.1 in a couple months.
Just let me know what you think.
Quick suggestion: might want to add a warning to the OP that flashing this will wipe your sdcard. Good thing I had a backup.
Has carrier iq been removed?

?? This doesn't touch the internal storage partition. I have flashed this ROM a dozen times and haven't yet had it format internal. Did you perhaps attempt to enter recovery without installing Autorec v2? I did specify it gave you stock recovery and the reasons for it.

Try this...do a full backup including media with LG backup. Copy the file to the computer. Also any folders the cannot be lost. Then do a factory reset. I have been testing this for a couple of weeks no bootloop or random reboots.

Do you remember what you deleted?
BTW....just to be on the safe side. If you want to delete/modify anything make sure you have TWRP installed so you can just reflash or do a backup. [emoji16]

Yeah that would do it. I think it's too tightly integrated into the system. Same thing with Google hangouts. I tried to remove that and would get an FC every time I sent out received a text. Go figure. [emoji12]

Hmm. Sorry, my mistake. I was having problems entering download mode after flashing blastagator's stripped down & converted 802 stock LP, and after flashing your ROM my download mode was back. Later on when I wanted to put something new on via usb, internal storage only had the default AT&T folders. Weeeeeeeeeeeird.
Anyway, again, my apologies. I should have known it was my fault after poking around a bit too much.
Edit: Oh yeah, I did Autorec v2 before trying to get into recovery so...whatever I did is a mystery. Time to write a story and have Michael Bay direct it (explosions are good).
This is a pretty sweet idea! Got it up and running with no issues. Great job!
Thanks for job!!!
Using 4 days already, no probs so far
This Is Very Important!!! If You Are On BOE1 BOG5 Or BOK3 Bootloaders Do Not Flash Any Firmware Zips Found Here Or In My Other Threads Or Other Threads They May Have Older Bootloaders In Them And They Will Brick Your Phone!!!!! Only Flash The Ones That Specifically Say They Are For BOE1 Or Later Bootloaders!!!

This was the Rom that @jhr5474 was going to post before he moved on to another phone I had done this a while ago and just never posted it so here it is I fixed a few issues like the always updated every time you reboot and Viper4Android
I found one issue that I am trying to figure out. On my safestrap lollipop app when you click recovery reboot and it flashes kitkat kernel after you click reboot to safestrap it does not reboot you have to manually reboot the phone so I am looking into this other than that it works fine
Going to take a guess that since it isn't a Verizon ROM there's no HD calling correct?

I've had that problem when something was wrong with the busybox installation. In fact, I cannot remember ever having that problem when that wasn't the cause.

Thanks for letting us verizon people use it.
Thanks for doing this, man--if you recall, I asked for it.
BTW, does the latest phoenix port have every fix included in it? It was working fine, then after a while I couldn't make voice calls.
is there a way to remove the 'CUSTOM' unlock icon? I've been getting this since i started fresh from NCG to install this ROM but when i restore to one of JrKruse's ROM's it's no longer displayed..Any fix for this? Thank you in advance
Well, I can not seem to get into SafeStrap. This isn't a terrible thing, considering the rom runs fine. However, I feel as though I'm missing somethig. I have tried flashing a kitkat kernel thru odin, with no luck. I have installed SafeStrap and reinstall recovery. It reads as installed. I reboot to no SafeStrap splash screen.
I know a full odin restore is never out of the question. Any other suggestions before a fresh start?
I can't seem to install any layers
How ever I manage to get Verizon stock vvm app working also I notice there is no do not disturb feature on here if someone could chime in much appreciated

I read online you need to edit 3 lines in your build.prop to this
ro.product.model=SM-G900V
ro.product.brand=Verizon
ro.product.name=kltevzw
ro.product.device=kltevzw
Before you install the stock vvm
Then install Verizon stock vvm apk
I pulled the apk from the vvm folder and put it on my ext SD card installed like a regular apk the I went to titanium and just restored data only from vvm I had backup but you will get the phantom messages I just disable it

I did. I couldn't figure it out, and flashed an Odin restore. This is a bonus because now I have working HD Calling. No complaints, I just couldn't figure it out.
I should clarify. HD Calling now works for me, on jrkruse's BS_FREE_OG5.
