Hi everyone. First, thanks for everything you guys do. Thus is my first post. Sorry if it's in the wrong place.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and previously used towelroot to root my device. Recently it became un rooted and I've been trying to reroot it. Towelroot says my phone is not supported. I tried entering the Modstrings as described and none of them are working. Is it because my kernal date is too recent? Jul. 22. Total noob here, sorry.

I am having the same problem, I have a S5 SM G900A (AT & T) and I can not get root through Towelroot. It displays the following message:
'' Currently this phone is not supported '
I just want to add the language PT BR on my device, either by custom rom or not. Anyway!

Hey there everyone, Im new to this xda thingy. Anyways the other day I got interested in rooting my samsung galaxy s 2 skyrocket at&t.
It is running a jellybean firmware 4.1.2 So I installed framaroot but it didnt work. The thing is though, Ive tried almost every version on the forum, every single version shows me the same one exploit (gandalf). It doesnt show any other exploit, every single version I tried for framaroot just shows gandalf and the gandalf exploit does not work for me. Is there any possible way to fix this? If not is there any one tap application app for the galaxy s2 skyrocket? Thank you for your time
This belongs in the forum for your phone. I've asked a moderator to move it for you.

Read everything by @vincom. He has comprehensive guides for pretty much anything you would want to do with the Skyrocket.
What type of frama root should I use to root my at&t galaxy s2-SGH I727 without a computer

Framaroot doesn't work with the skyrocket. I tried all of them. Use Odin
Okay so I've tried rooting my galaxy s4 multiple times, and none have worked. I have a mac and verizon is my carrier, and the software on my phone is 4.3 jellybean. for whatever reason my phone never properly roots and at most it will just download superuser, which in the end tells me can't work. someone please help!!
samsung 4.3 version is come with knox feature that will block all app to access the root.
this also happened to me when i try to root my note 2 a couple days ago.
tried a lot of method on google to disable that knox but still failed.
the last attempt that i do is completely install a knox free custom rom and it's work very good until now, and you may try it.
you may search the custom rom for your s4 on this forum and choose the most suitable for you
How on earth can he install a custom rom if he doesn't have root access?

You need to find your baseband version and find a root method that is appropriate for the version you are running. Not every (and rarely any) root methods work for more than one baseband version on the Verizon S4. Knox will not stop you from rooting your phone.

I bought a verizon galaxy s4 a few weeks ago and foolishly updated it. I now want to root it and i havent rooted anything in months but i wasnt to worried until i cant seem to find if you can root with version VRUFNK1. I found 1 thread where someone said they bricked there phone trying on this version. If it possible please let me know and what method to use.
you can actually root it safely only if you downgrade back to the VRUFNC5 bootloader , the use the vroot method.

I done some research and am very lost as to what to do. there are no clear instuructions on how to downgrade from vrufnk1 to vrufnc5 at all that I can find. can someone elaborate on this and give me a little more detailed instuctions and possibly links to the files ill need or websites where to find them. And is it possible to even downgrade without first being rooted? Sorry its been years since i have done this and it was way simpler on the kindle fire.
I have a buddy thats in the same boat, he's got a newer s4 and wants to rom it for his first time.
I am also in this predicament. I had a galaxy nexus that I would flash different roms to every week but I upgraded via Verizon to the S4 a few months ago -- bloatware is awful and is taking up over 7GB of my 16... Would love to get a jump on rooting, but I can't find anything on this build aside from this thread and another few posts that were also unanswered. Any help or direction would be great -- do y'all think there will have to be another way to root this build, or can downgrading be okay?
Same boat
I too am in the same boat, for some reason with i545vrufnk1, I can't root so want to downgrade the firmware to a firmware that allows me to root, tried all the various methods to root but for some reason I can't, think it might be the firmware or the knox software package.
I believe you could root with Towelroot.

towel root won't work
I tried it with the latest official update and it won't work. I'm looking to root as well.
[How-To] Root I545VRUFNK1 4.4.2 (12-1-2014)
Look for this thread on xda search tab. It worked for me. Just follow closely.
I followed the downgrade instructions and got root back. Is it Verizon that makes it a pain in the ass? I don't know what I would do without this place and helpful people

Okay, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 Wifi. I ROOTED it using Kingroot. I did unroot using the kingroot, yet even though RootChecker says it is not rooted, in my settings about phone, it still says custom, and I cant update firmware. So I re rooted it with Kingroot. How do I unroot this, and get the custom to the stock? And, furthermore, can I do this without a PC?
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. I see you've registered and posted this question in the best place to get help, http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/help/how-unroot-tablet-replace-custom-stock-t3186358. Good Job!
I'm going to close this thread.
First of all, let me apologize for posting this in android general first since i am new here. I later realized that posting it in samsung galaxy s6 forum will be a much wiser choice.
Hi Everyone,
I accidentally deleted pictures from my samsung galaxy s6 phone and am looking into rooting the phone to recover them (havent used the phone since then). But most of the applications out there require rooting. I have looked into pingpong root and Chainfire but they dont list the exact build version of my phone.
EXACT build version of my galaxy s6:
MMB29K.G920IDVU3EPH9
WHAT'S available online:
the closest i found is from chainfire (CF-auto root) is MMB29K.G920IDVU3EPC6.
Please advise if i can use the root file meant for the build available with chainfire or if anyone has rooted their galaxy s6 for my exact build then please advise on that.

I am not quite sure, since I am also relatively new to the phone, but CF autoroot should work fine. The problem I see however is that AFAIK the phone will be wiped after rooting, so I dont know, if rooting will be of any help to you. You should try to find out, if there is any way to get a system dump. More precisely your sdcard. This way you can have as many recovery attempts as you want, without risking to overwrite anything. Hope it helps. Also rooting itself and installing SU will overwrite some of your storage. So be careful.

is this because the build is different?

Like I said, I don't know, since I don't kmow much about the phone yet, but I thought I had read about CF autoroot wiping the phone after rooting, but please check on your own. Google system dump galaxy s6. Maybe system dump android 6.0.1. I haven't done it in a while, but it should work using adb pull. Maybe there is a new command already. But please read up on it first.
