Hi All
I am on my second handset, as the first one had a huge gap between the screen and the frame which held lots of debris so exchanged it.
I didn't make that many calls with the original handset before i exchanged it, so did not have a chance to use the speakerphone for a call. However, today I made a call on speaker and noticed that the volume is really low until you get to full on the scale and then it suddenly jumps up loudly and sounds like it has been enhanced? In call volume through the earpiece isn't exactly stunning either, have to have the volume either on full on one below.
I tried playing music through the speakers and it sounds absolutely perfect, equally as loud as the first handset.
I'm considering exchanging again, as I definitely think that the first handset had much better call volume (can't be 100% sure though), but I just wanted to check here to see if others find the call volume not so great?

i normally don't hear it when the volume is set no more than half. but sometime the person on the other line is speaking too soft and i need to up the volume. the top speaker sounds like it's loose or rattling when the volume is set at more than half and holding the phone to talk against your ear. i'm guessing the word for that is distorted? is this normal for all g2x or just mine? you can try it out just by calling voicemail and up the volume.
i did a search but the speaker questions other people ask were for the bottom speaker.
if it sounds like there is actually movement from the speaker I'd exchange the phone. if its just distortion I'd chock that up to the fact that that is a very low output speaker so it wont handle high volume well.
I have the same problem I didn't notice it for the first 2 weeks I had the phone because I use blue tooth or head phone mic a lot I noticed about 4 days ago. it is annoying conscidering we pay a lot of hard earned money for these phone. When I bought my phone I was broke until my next pay check.
Okay so I ran into this REALLY weird issue with my call speaker yesterday
Yesterday, when I got home I placed my phone next to my keyboard and forgot about it after a while. When I wasn't behind the computer, someone called me but phone stopped ringing after 2-3 seconds (Possibly they had wrong number) BUT right after the phone stopped ringing, the call speaker began to emit a high pitched noise. I grabbed the phone and tried to stop it by taking out the battery. I also found out that the frequency of the high pitched noise changed every time I moved my phone just a little and then it stopped completely by itself
Today, when I was on the toilet, I received a call and in the middle of a call, the call speaker began to emit a REALLY loud noise (It sounded like the beeping of those really old soviet electronic alarm clocks). I only heard it but the person on the other end couldn't hear it. It got either quieter or louder depending on how I positioned the phone which is a sign that both these incidents are caused by a single issue
I never had this problem before and I'm pretty sure that it's a hardware issue since I tried the volume keys too and it seemed to ignore the volume controls or plugged in headphones
Any idea what could be causing this and how to get rid of this issue? I might not be able to send it for repairs so any "ghetto" repair guides are welcome
I noticed that when I'm sitting in a completely quiet room, when I play a video and set the volume to 1 bar, the sound is so bad you can hear literally only buzzing and other wierd noises. It's absolutely fine at higher volume levels, I guess the noises just don't get louder. And I'm wondering, because I have this phone for like four months, and I'm not sure if this got worse than it was at the beginning. May it be due to cleaning the dust with compressed air? Should I remove the cover and check if everything is ok?
Also, it can be heard better if you're holding the phone right by your ear, please check if it's the same for you.
It's really noticeable when listening to people talking, hard to notice when listeting to music.
Howdy...
For quite some time i had the feeling Music doesn't sound quite right on max volume.
So today i made the Test and it seems as if my top speaker is broken.
I've recorded the whole test so you can hear it too (put the volume to the max...) and you know how i've tested to see if i'm the only one or if this might even be a common mistake on the XZ2.

Reproducing: Use any Frequency test Video or app or whatever. Set the Volume at Max.
You can hear the top speaker crickling/flattering between 250 and 1100hz. Everything above that is clear.
If you reduce the Volume below 50% it's also clear.
Anyone has a Similar issue or am i alone with a broken speaker?
As a musician, I can tell you that driving a pure sine wave through any speaker for any length of time will damage and distort it
That being said, alot of speakers don't handle any sound at full volume very well...even crystal speakers / drivers on phones, you do get signal/music drop out, distortion as certain instruments and signals vie for superiority within the sound space..
If the music is fine at about 95% of full... Then that's normal... if it like that at 85% or lower, could be a faulty unit..
These are very small crystal drivers... and will, if constantly ramped up full will become distorted over time, due to the sheer stress on them of constantly being vibrated all day long very fast.. this is why, on phones it's best to take the volume to about 90% max... because theyll sound rubbish above that...
If it's bothering you though friend, I would, just warranty or return it if you can
Hope that helps ?
Hello.
I've gotten pretty frustrated with using my 3a for a while now regarding this specific issue, the call volume is just always super low and makes using the default phone app unbearable because I can hardly hear the other person, it is ALWAYS at max volume btw.
I just genuinely do not understand why the call volume is so low whilst the other volumes (media, alarms, etc) don't seem to have this issue and I can even get additional apps to boost the volume for those- but not the call volume.
It seems to have gotten worse just several days ago when some liquid hit the grill , so now instead of it sounding like someone is 3 feet away from the phone, it just sounds like 6 feet away. But even with this situation, it did NOTHING to my other volume settings.
Is there anything I can do to improve the loudness at all without depending on headphones? I would prefer having the phone on my ear , especially since calls on headphones literally echo whatever gets picked up on my microphone back to me I just honestly hate it.
Get a replacement phone. That's not normal. My call volume gets loud.

Is that really the only possible solution here...?
Everything else is fine...I just cannot find a way to make the call volume louder, just seems like Im stuck putting it on speakers or using headphones at the moment.
