Hi guys, I'm writing in the name of my girlfriend: she has got this phone and, after we have flashed a cm rom, the camera sucks. I know camera is usually better in stock rom but this time the difference is abysmal! The problem is: she doesn't want to downgrade to stock rom (stock rom presents the SoD and ridiculous battery performance) but she would a better camera. I suggested open camera, a better camera and other ones but photos quality is still really poor. I think the real problem is the rom. Is there any mode porting stock camera (libraries, I think) to cm roms? Thanks for your attention

Stock rom's camera works only on TouchWiz roms...so it won't work on AOSP based roms

In galaxy grand duos thread have some mods for camera that improve camera quality in my opinion
Related
The Inspire camera, in my opinion had some of the best phone camera quality I has ever done seen, but when I switched over to cyanogenmod, the camera quality went completely down hill... Is there anyway I can get the sense camera back but keep cyanogenmod?

Try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984279 it's good
I actually use my inspire camera for many quality assurance pictures at work. i use the camera app built into my ics rom. but on gingerbread i found camerazoom to be amazing.
I installed the BlackICE rom in an attempt to get better battery life,
and because its based on CyanogenMod it was missing the stock Inspire
camera, it does have MIUI camera but I don't like it as good as the
stock camera, I have Camera Zoom FX, but I just don't like it ether,
I did find one camera app I like, its called LGcamera, but try the
free version first, as some people seem to have problems, but it works
good for me.
I use LeeDroid and I actually like the camera more now than on my stock ROM, I don't use a third party app. Maybe try it and see if it works for you if you haven't already.

I have flashed some AOSP ROMs like CM and Kang and the although the camera works the quality of pictures especially in low light is terrible.
I have tested a couple of times taking pictures with CM and then the same picture with stock Sense. The ASOP pictures come out with a greenish hue.
This leads to my question, is this something the Devs can improve with time or is this a trade-off of not using a ROM based on the Sense framework?

It can be improved, but there are much more important things to do/fix as of now. And it may require a lot of work. It is at the bottom of a lot of developer's lists.
yeah I totally respect the Devs work and for the most part just wondered if it was technically possible.
thanks for the answer.
Will wait patiently..lol
Same I am very thankful to the Dev's.
Curiously though, so it seems that my best bet is to root my phone but to keep the stock ICS android on it becuase otherwise I lose sense4 and the supposedly better camera software htc preinstalled on it?
Thanks so much! cheers.

If you like sense, then stick with the Sense-based ROMs. As for the camera, the hardware is still fully capable of taking the same quality pictures whether you are using AOSP or Sense ROMs.
The camera software is different in AOSP and may not have all of the features included in Sense (yet) and the picture quality might be a little worse off in AOSP, but the AOSP ROMs are still in alpha. The developers are working hard to create a stable, fully functional AOSP ROM... it's just going to take a little time. It doesn't hurt to try the AOSP roms out and see for yourself, just don't expect everything to be working flawlessly.
Hi, I am going to have a BERLIN-L24 soon.
I would like to know how stable the custom Rom for N.
How's the camera quality in custom Rom?
Thank you.
Camera quality is worse than stock due missing camera (and other stuff) sources. Roms looks kinda stable except some bug, make a trip on 6X's roms section to read a bit about
Hi all, im new to the S7, coming from a S5 on RR. I wanted a better camera so made the jump to the S7. Do you guys recommend staying stock rom or root and custom rom? Im not a heavy user, moderate social media, mostly surfing and take lots of pictures. Is the camera on custom rom as good or near as good as stock?
Thanks, Mario
Stay on stock. I've tried nearly all roms, and always returned. Download Google Camera with HDR+ and you're good to go.

Stick to stock if you want the best out of the camera, it needs the stock camera app & touchwiz to run the camera to full ability, other camera apps produce very noticeably lesser quality images

Hello to all.
I need to root my S7 because I ran out of my 32 gb memory. BUT when I access to firmware.mobi the last update is not yet avalaible and kingroot does not root my phone.
Any ideas about how to root phones with NRD90M.G935FXXU1DQJ3 software update ??
Could somebody with the Nougat/Oreo LineageOs build installed some example photos taken by the camera. I'm just really curious about it, cause I heard it's bad or not as good as on the stock rom(yeah of this I'm pretty sure but still) and i cannot find some anywhere
Yea it's cos the TouchWiz ROM has camera frameworks that are built into the ROM and can't be ported to AOSP.
There's some comparisons from the HTC camera port thread which is what most people recommend to use on S7 AOSP ROM's
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/los-aosp-base-temporal-fix-camera-t3574480
Not sure if it'd work but you could try installing the HTC camera while still on TW and compare with the stock camera.

Well I managed to install the HTC camera app. Well I don't see much of a difference when it comes to simple photos, except that light focusing on HTC app does not seem to work. Though I wonder if still HTC camera app is not using the TW framework, is it possible?
Yea wasn't sure if third party apps benefit from the TW camera API or something.
You could always do a full TWRP backup, flash Lineage, and if the camera sucks just restore your backup.
