[Q] Q: Best method to root TF300T with JB 4.2.1? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, newb here, searched and read so many articles and can't seem to find any definitive answers to my question.
What is the best way to gain root access to the TF300T with JB 4.2.1?
I unlocked it with the ASUS V8 unlock, tried the motochopper method for non rooted device before that but it didn't work at all.
I don't want to change the system, I just need a safe way to gain root access for some minor changes to file structures, and to be able to completely save some hidden files etc (mainly game saves data really)
I'm fairly concerned at all the conflicting and confusing info that I've found and read about certain apps, rooters etc, as well as my concern for safety when downloading "unofficial" files etc after reading articles about them sending data to chinese servers or installing bloatware etc.
After searching the WWW for hours on end over days on end, I've still been unable to find any conclusive info or guides
This is the information I have on my ASUS TF300T tablet:
Externally reported information from ES3 file explorer:

after reading several posts about kingo being spyware / connecting to chineese servers etc.
I've searched and searched so much but can't seem to find any definitive and recent information or guides and what I have read just ended up confusing the hell outta me lol

Norton's didn't flag it. You only have to run it the one time, then you can delete it.

have you tried framaroot mate

Well framaroot is very very safe and secure it will either work or fail mate and it's here on xda too so it's not like things like vroot

I can +1 for the reputation of framaroot. It worked well on my phone, but I never tried it on my Stock Tablet.

Kingo worked on yours and you have the same model number & firmware as above?

[Q] Is IT Possible To Root The Acer A500 3.2.1

Hi
I posted a question on rooting the Acer A500 Tablet, with 3.2.1, running on it and I haven’t received any replies. Now wondering if it’s even possible to root it. I have done plenty of searching on it, but the links that are on varies topics seem too point to nothing more than malware.
If someone could give me a yes or no on the rooting I would greatly appreciate it.
Tablet Info:
Acer A500
Version: 3.2.1
Kernel: 2.6.36.3+
Build: Acer_A500_7.014.02_Com_Gen2
Thank You

I have searched on Google and yes there are thousands of guides. But the problem is the links don't seem to be good any longer. For instance, the link you post to xda, if you follow the links let’s say for V3 it brings to iLividSetup-r4484-n-bf.exe file and the instruction in the guides are saying that this file should be a zip file, and there’s a pdf file, with further instruction on a read me file. This file is clearly not a zip file. The file contains a download manager and the file is loaded with malware. (Spyware, wajam, toolbars, etc.)
If you could just check it out and let me know if I’m missing something here. The other problem is all of the guides eventually come full circle to xda and the links posted on xda.
Thank you, and thank you for a quick response.

What's behind Root Genius?

Hi,
I have a Cat S50 smartphone, and after reading the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/to-root-thsis-one-caterpillar-s50-t2932196
Decided to try to root it using Root Genius, as I have found no other way thus far, and can confirm it has successfully rooted my device.
I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone here might be able to answer me:
1) How much malware should I expect from Root Genius?
2) Is there anyway I can find out what vuln/exploit it used to root my device?
Here are the details for the device:
Android 4.4.2
Linux 3.4.0-ge072e48-dirty (armv7l)

What is the true price of "free" Rootgenius?

I'm very surprised to find very little information about this incredible tool which presents terms of service all in Chinese, so there's really no way to tell what you've signed up for if you do not speak Chinese. Usually, the experts on XDA weigh in on these things, but there's nothing I've found telling me this is a safe program to use. I got as far as the Chinese terms of service and then quit.

Root Asus Fonepad 7 ME371MG Model K004

Hello,
I want my Asus ME371MG Model K004 rooten. The various instructions on the Internet are contradictory and confusing.
You have the version "nakasig-user debug 4.2 JVP15S 515 026 dev-keys" have. That would be very important.
This version I have not. My Asus has released version "JZO54K.WWW_epad-V3.4.0-20140901"
The root version is the file "ME371MG_all_WW_user_V3.2.2-2" or "ME371MG_all_WW_user_V3.2.4-2".
My Question:
must I
A) on "nakasig-user debug 4.2 JVP15S 515 026 dev-keys" up or down degrees?
or
B) flash directly directly to my version "JZO54K.WWW_epad-V3.4.0-20140901" with the "ME371MG_all_WW_user_V3.2.2-2" or "ME371MG_all_WW_user_V3.2.4-2" file.
If A)
Where can I find the file to up or down grade?
Thanks in advance
Dag

[Completed] Coolpad Y82-820 Help

Hi all!
I'm new here, so please instruct me if I'm doing anything wrong.
I have a Coolpad Y82-820. It's a Chinese phone, I think.
I'm in the process of getting it rooted. ---- Was rooted before, but an update on their side (to CoolUI V24. [phone model#]. 160407) removed the root and now makes it a bit difficult to root at the moment, though I'm sure it will be done eventually.
Once rooted, I don't really mind waiting, I would like to put a Custom Rom on this phone, but not sure what options are available. I see posts about the Coolpad Note/Dazen/Shine/Rogues etc. Though nothing about this one, though spec wise it's not too far off from the others.
I'd be grateful if anyone could help with confirmations, information, on how to select a correct custom rom for this device and the steps to do. Also if there's any info on how to root this current version, even better.
Thanks!

Hello,
Can you please tell us the firmware version of your device?
Also, this forum is for newbies finding their way around XDA Developers, it isn't for requesting ROMs.
