I'm prompted to install the XNPH38R Incremental with the message "System update is ready"
I tap on Install update, the phone then does it's thing, reboots and shows the splash screen logo a few seconds, then the recovery comes up and the text scrolls at lightning speed (a second or so) then the phone powers up in full and is ready for use.
When I go to my homescreen the prompt is there again for me to upgrade with the "System update is ready" message.
As such the update doesn't apply successfully. No error messages at all.
Phone is stock ROM (version 11.0-XNPH33R), only thing I did extra was to unlock the bootloader using OnePlus One Toolbox v2 (64 GB). This was done in order for me to root it. Oh, I also installed PhilZ Recovery using this same toolbox.
Any ideas why this happens?
...or suggestions as to how I can do the update?
PS, I saw that there's another tread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/apply-ota-stock-root-franco-23r-twrp-t2900311) with a OTA update failure but that one is different as there's errors involved so I felt that the suggestions were not applicable in my case.
try manually going thru the recovery and run update file from /cache directory. and see what errors is trowing

I found the update file and tried to install in manually. The attached image shows the error message which has no meaning to me. I then cleared the cache and also the dalvik cache, booted up, checked for update, downloaded the update and install.
Same problem happened so back to square one

Ah! that makes sense. I got the lockscreen after reading an article about it on the XDA news pages (http://www.xda-developers.com/android/dynamic-oneplus-one-lock-screen/) which took me to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/dynamic-oneplus-one-lockscreen-t2890808
From here forward, how do you suggest I proceed. Is there a way to "uninstall" this lock screen or is it a matter of me doing a factory reset and starting afresh?
Unless there's a return to stock zip in the thread where you got your modified lockscreen, you'll need to start fresh.

Use the modified XNPH38R update. You can find it in the xnph38r thread in general.
You did system modifications. By using the modified script, it won't check for those files.
This is why I say when you want to do system changes, just use a custom ROM because OTAs are going to be a headache for you if u dont intend on using what the OTA provided to you.

I'm trying to figure out what "system modifications" I've done. It's probably freezing apps in titanium backup, as google's music always FC's on all devices, so had to be ignored.

Freezing apps in TB does nothing for those system modifications. Just flash the modified script XNPH38R update and you'll be able to update. I've said this 2 times now.

Hi everyone,
Las week the OTA update appeared in my phone. I tried to use the google-automatic procedure, but as I have my Nexus 5 rooted, the install was aborted as soon as the device was restarted.
I read the helpdesk thread, trying to update the device manually, but I can't be able to.
I have the 4.4 to 4.4.2 .zip file inside the downloads folder, I restart the device to recovery mode (I've installed TWRP), and after writing the decrypt password and mount the volume, When I try to apply the zip file
"/system/app/EmailGoogle.apk" has unexpected co

Note that the senteces is cut due to the lenght of the screen.
Before flashing, I go to mount option, and mount all the folder (system, firmware, sdcard)
Any ideas?
Now I'm thinking that when I rooted the device, I used ES File Explorer to delete some apps directly from /sys/apps, maybe is that the error, that some GApps has been removed from the device.
Thank you!
Yes Google has nicely written in app checks. If these apps are not present on check the update is aborted

Flashing the system and boot images isn't starting from scratch... you can keep your userdata as long as you aren't using a custom ROM. Flashing those just gives you back a clean stock OS without any of your mods. No need to start from scratch. Should only take a couple minutes.
Also, your mods are the reason it failed in the first place, not because you were rooted. Rooting itself does not prevent OTA updates.
Will I continue to get OTA software updates if I root and unlock the boot loader (to install TWRP)?
Thanks,
Hish747

Can I dirty flash the nightlies from CM11S if I have just unlocked the bootlader and rooted?
There is no nightly for CM11s just for CM11.
I recommend to do a clean install including factory reset.
Keep in mind that after flashing something, you need to flash root at the end too

Sorry if this is a bit of a n00b question (I know people are sensitive about that!) but I have searched around a bit and not found a solution to this issue. Here's the situation...
So what i've done so far is unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP, and SuperSU (so I have root). I also unchecked the update recovery box in dev options. When told I need to update I downloaded the update, hit install, the phone reboots and takes me to TWRP. When in TWRP I hit install, navigate to the cache and try to install the update /cache/cm-bacon-d22b777afa-to-4f280f505a-signed.zip
When I do that, I get the following:

Yeah, you gotta open the zip on your pc, modify META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script and remove the code (its in the top part) that mentions the incompatible data error. Then try flashing again.

You haven't provided anywhere near enough information. What's the zip you flashed? What version were you on previously? What recovery are you using?

I have had tons on trouble trying to update today. The error message that I keep getting is "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" This makes the phone unusable because the message keeps popping up even after I click "OK". I was linked to Calkulins file from another thread. I have factory reset phone, deleted data, and wiped cache. I have copied the zip to the phone and tried to load from CM Recovery [Volume Down and Power] with no success. I get the following messages in Recovery:
Finding update package
Opening update package
Verifying update package
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Anyone have advise on how I can fix this. Thanks in advance.

Some questions:
In order to clean up some stuff I never use, I removed some useless apps (Play Games, Play Books, Play Music, …). After flashing the ROM, those apps were installed again.
Was that the reason, why the update failed?
Is it for some stability / update / security fact useful, to keep those apps installed?

Hello everyone.
Two hours ago I received the notification about the Android 5.0 update. I downloaded it and hit "Install". Then, "TeamWin" started, but not the update. I rebooted into System and tried to update again - but it tells me that 4.4.4 is the latest version I can get now. I'm on Build KTU84P now.
1) Do I need to remove TeamWin? If yes, with what?
2) How can I start the update again? I'm on a super slow connection and it would hurt to download the 500 MB again…
Thank you!

You need to remove TeamWin, and load up your stock recovery. I don't have the exact instructions for this unfortunately.
The OTA update will come back to your phone soon, usually. Did for me within the hour.
The issue I am having now, back with stock recovery, is during the install I am getting a dead Android error icon, and can't continue. Looking for any help I can, and hopefully it will help you too.

I suspect it has to do with the fact that systemless root modifies the bootloader and the delta OTA checks that. Try uninstalling root from SuperSU (it does say uninstallation is required for OTA to proceed) and see if OTA proceeds.

Hi folks, I'm having an issue with the update; I have rooted my Shield K1, have attempted to update to 1.4 using FlashFire app on Stock recovery, I have a 64GB Samsung EVO SD card and my storage was on adoptive. The update/flash started fine, but on reboot the error message "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped" comes up, I click OK and nothing happens. Does anyone know how I can rectify this issue please?
I found that by downloading the full image (which you can do via the built in updater on the tablet via Settings), I could use Flashfire to install and root it, no data lost. Didn't work with the smaller OTA file, but the full file worked flawless.
Thanks, but I can't get past the error message. I have seen another way to flash the update and have found out I did one of the steps wrong, if I can get it working again I'll post.

You tried wiping cache?

Yes, with the Full OTA. Settings -> About tablet -> System upgrade -> 3 dots (upper right) -> Advanced -> Check full upgrade. After flashing, you'll need to reflash TWRP and root.

I have now wiped the cache and it is back to defaults. Thank you thirdzcee. Will not make that mistake again, I assure you.

Use Flashfire, it'll do it all for you. (although it does appears to come with 2.76 instead of 2.78 of SuperSU, but updates itself anyway).
I have been having issues on my k1 since the 1.4 firmware I tried doing the toggle able system-less root and xposed but i lose touch and the tablet just doesn't work and i end up having to reinstall the 1.4 update at this point i'm sitting at fresh wiped tablet i dont yet.
I have narrowed my issues down to bad SD card as adopted storage.
i just downloaded the update by accident but i dont want to flash it because i have root and twrp so i moved the ota and restarted my tablet, but the notification is still there, any ideas on how to remove the notification?
