[Q] Verizon Prepaid Galaxy s3 custom Rom flash - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I have the Verizon Samsung Galaxy s3 the prepaid version which is the I535PP and I've rooted it using towelroot and have flashed bootstrap recovery. Its still on 4.3. I accidentally deleted the SDM.apk file and can't upgrade to kit Kat. Has anyone had any luck flashing a tw 4.3 rom to this version and get it to boot or maybe have the stock firmware or the SDM.apk file for tw 4.3?

I have the SDM.apk, I have no idea why I kept it however. You can indeed flash a 4.3 TW rom only if your on ML1 on 4.3

I got mine yesterday.. its on 4.3 sdm downloaded kitkat but i rooted with towelroot and froze sdm I know 4.4 is extremely locked down and towelroot nor any other method works to root the 535pp on 4.4... any development with 535pp yet? Carbon rom?

No development at all with the pp version
From my CM11 S3

I really hope I am not holding off for no reason.. is 4.3 any less locked than 4.4? I hope by not going to 4.4 they come out with a custom recovery for 4.3. If its locked either way then I would way rather be on 4.4 once they have a way to root this phone kicks ass so far! I had a sch-i535(lte) on VZW prepaid network and had access to the 4g network and they gave me a sim for free, but this 3g only phone keeps reception better and loads pages faster(no switching back and forth between 3-4g) It was well worth $150 at walmart

They are both locked as you know, 4.3 just had more TW roms available. Nice price also. The only recovery available for either locked bootloader is safestrap
Towelroot works for the 4.4.2 NE1 build as far as I know. If they send anymore updates beyond that root will more than likely be lost though
From my CM11 S3

There is no NE1 build for the 535pp i believe.. I could be wrong but I think the firmware is totally different

Your right it very well may be, I don't have the pp version so to be honest I was just going by what I already know
From my CM11 S3

I cant wait until they sell enough of these for it to be popular enough to develop and hopefully 4.3 can really be developed

I'm leaning towards it not being in development as most people don't use the prepaid version for the point of rooting it and using custom roms. Your more than likely out of luck

Can someone provide me with contact info of some devs that I can contact that may take the project up? I think the phone will gain popularity now that verizon prepaid is not highway robbery anymore.. $45 a month unlimited talk/ text 1gb data and can buy extra 3gb packages for cheap that instantly start working when the 1gb is over.. I recently just started seeing the phone for sale so it is fairly new release. I may be able to talk whoever into working on it. Who do I contact to get a "Verizon Prepaid SCH-I535PP" board in the main index?

Look around the VZW S3 development forums, I'd look for threads that are somewhat up to date as far as posts and look for the OP (original poster)
From my CM11 S3

I recently pick this phone up with the intent to flash it to straight talk(my current provider). Since the st gs3 is at least 100 dollars more it was a bargin. I was successful flashing over to st. voice, text, mms and data work flawlessly.
Im just curious if anyone has had any luck finding or devolping any kind of roms for it. I realize there is a small crowd for these phones but I can see its popularity will increase a little bit. I held out on the ota as well and stuck with 4.3 w/ towelroot and safestrap.

I'm nearly sure there won't be any development for the prepaid version. The contract version is the only one that would be in development going forward at this point

[Q] Possible to go from 4.3 I535VRUCML1 update to install CyanogenMod yet? d2vzw

http://www.xda-developers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Screenshot_2013-12-18-16-20-14-576x1024.png
Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 I535 (Verizon) and have been done with flashing custom roms for a while now. I figured I would just wait until my contract is up in May go to At&t and get the Nexus 5 (straight off Google's site). I actually got in the mood to put Cyanogenmod on my phone until my contract is finally up. I hear all of this talk about Knox and once you upgrade to 4.3 I535VRUCML1 there is no turning back.
Can someone with plenty of experience confirm that there is absolutely no possible way to get Cyanogenmod on my phone at this point without bricking it. I have been searching all over the web and just can't figure it out. Some people are coming up with guides to flash a hacked version of the VRUCML1 update and then install CWM and Cyanogenmod from there.
So the main question is...
Is it possible at all to ever get CWM / Cyanogenmod back on my S3 that currently has the latest (4.3 I535VRUCML1). I am willing to attempt anything since I am getting rid of the phone in 2 months. Also not selling it afterwards since screen is cracked.
There is no way yet, but maybe soon. A post looked promising a few days ago.
I'll post here if I find something.

I also am very interested in this topic, same build phone and also want to use Cynogenmod

This phone is fairly new sold at walmart the prepaid 3g cdma only version of verizon GS3 prepaid. It will gain in popularity. It comes with 4.3 and can be rooted with towelroot. It tries to upgrade immediately to 4.4 ut just freeze SDM to shop it. 4.4 cannot be rooted with towelroot. Anyway, can someone please refer me to someone to contact in developing stuff for this phone as the firmware is different than the reg. Sch-i535. Any developers want a new project i will donate and assist(dump my system or whatever) thanks,

As I suggested in a previous post of yours you'll want to look in the development forums for current devs who are still supporting the contract S3, it's merely a matter of doing a quick search inside the development forums
And being that it's on the 4.3 bootloader, it's locked down, the only possibility are bootloader locked roms but a dev would have to have this specific phone to be able to create a rom for it and there wouldn't be much as far as roms go

Verizon Galaxy S5 FAQ?

I haven't come around here in a couple a years since I was loading various ROMs on my Bionic; Since then much has changed, so I have a few basic questions. I looked for an FAQ but I am either blind or they are not in style anymore. So I have Verizon GS5 on the Edge plan which I haven't done anything to it except take every crappy OTA update Verizon pushed out (unfortunately). I do plan to trade it in on an upgrade next year-ish.
Can I load a custom ROM now and go back to a perfect stock before I trade up? -> Is there a simple, straight forward guide to catch me up on doing this?
Last I checked there was no root for stock Verizon LolipOOp on GS5, are we there yet?
No root or downgrade for any rom after BOD5. Anything BOD5 and earlier can be rooted and downgraded back to kit kat to gain root

[Q] SCH I535 4.4.2 bone stock > Rooted. Is it possible?

Looking to put some feelers out about rooting my dad's phone since it isn't acting right anymore and thanks to VZWs crap upgrade plan he is on, he will have this phone for another year or longer. Can you root and apply one of the custom roms like hyperdrive or even a MM rom? I'd be fine with CM as well.
Anything to make his phone not run like crap. I haven't tweaked an S3 in years, but I do remember that I think VZW released an OTA that made root and boot loader much harder or totally locked it down.
I was hoping someone might have a workaround that still works.
SCH I535 4.4.2 I535OYUDNE1 baseband

Thanks!

Note Pro 12.2 rooting, VZW or AT&T?

Hi, reading through the forums, it sounds like rooting a Note Pro 12.2 on Verizon is either very difficult, or impossible? I'm going to buy one of these for either VZW or AT&T to test for my team of 6 salespeople to use in the field and would need it to be rooted so we can use multi window on all apps. Would prefer VZW because I have most of my devices there now and use Message+ which is awesome for texting on all my devices. But if I have to go AT&T to root, I'll do that - I think this functionality is more important to us. I'd appreciate any input you have on this, and also if someone would be willing to walk me through the rooting process I'd be happy to compensate. Thanks, Scott

Rooting the Verizon model is very easy as long as it is on Android 4.4 (Android 5.1 was recently released for it and is not rootable)
The instructions here are what I used, they are very straightforward: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2795630
The downside to the carrier models is that they have locked bootloaders.
So even though you can get root access you wont be able to install Roms or alternate recovery images and such, so you would be stuck on android 4.4.
You would be able to do everything you normally could do on a rooted 4.4 stock rom though.
I have the Verizon model (SM-P905V) and I love it, I currently have a T-mobile sim in it and it gets LTE with no issues.
if you want to be able to root, install a custom recovery and install roms as well as have mobile Broadband you would need the international LTE model (SM-P905) but they are increasingly hard to find for some reason.
