Google Play Services update causes FC - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I'm on a stock rooted HTC M8, with newest update. Recently, after Google play services was updated, my phone does 3 things.
1. Get a "Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped" force close.
2. On reboot, com.process.Google.location, or something similar force closes immediately, and then Play Services does as well.
3. Sometimes, my sync icon stays active. I go into my accounts, and one of my Google accounts shows its syncing, but doesn't show what.
I've tried to fix this by uninstalling updates to play services, but then some applications don't work, since they require an update. Once updates are uninstalled the issue is resolved immediately. I've also tried clearing data, cache, etc for play store, services, and tried wiping cache, dalvik, and fixing permissions in recovery.
Anyone have any suggestions? As I said, immediately upon updating play services, it begins to force close, and all the other problems persist.

I know you said stock, but by chance are you using Xposed?

Yes, and actually I had a Xposed module installed, "Disable Location Consent". I disabled that module and all seems good now.
I'll report back if the issue comes back.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting your solution. Worked here too

Apps Not Installing after TWRP Restore

Guys Guys !!
I dont think this is related to the problem but here's what happened :
I took a backup of my Mahdi ROM with TWRP, flashed stock Lollipop, deleted EFS by mistake (after flashing TWRP again) , then flashed stock 4.4.4 (and imei was back  ) .
So After this meaningless playing around, I restored my old Mahdi Rom, it works fine but I get these messages when I try to install/update any app .

Go to "settings > apps > all" then delete cache and data for Google Play & Google Play services.
This should fix your problem.

This will fix the problem only if it was happening with google play, but in my case apps aren't installing at all even by installing the apk file, so I dont think it has something to do with google play services .
thank you

I have a similar issue. When trying to configure this extension I am prompted to choose which account I want to use from the 2 on my phone. After selecting the account that has my All Access for Google Play, I receive a toast saying that the account I selected will be used. However I see no change where it mentions what account I am using. I am unable to access anything from Google Play using this extension. I tried rebooting the phone and tried configuring it multiple times as well.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Has ANYONE got this extension to work correctly?
Hello,
Google recently locked up the Google Music API for third party apps. We just issued an update on the Play Store to address this, spoofing as the real Google Play Music app. Once you get the update (in the coming hours from this post), you will need to log-in again, and it will work like prior the API lockdown.
Let me know if you still have issues after that !

Dasaita PX5 Headunit random crashes (playstore and random reboots)

Hi Guys, I'm getting absolutely annoyed by my Dasaita PX5 Headunit.
I've done many factory resets and also cache+data reset from recovery. Currently I'm on the latest MCU (3.01) and FW (ha_px5_8.0_ota(20181210).zip)
However, ever since the first firmware (android 6), my device keeps crashing when doing some load (like downloading maps, or installing apps)
After this crash, I even get random crashes in play store; The device is almost unusable.
Could it be internal memory problems or is it really firmware based (seems odd, nobody has this many errors)
Is there any way to test this?
Video of play store crashing: https://youtu.be/5G42GVsXUDo
Photo after random reboot, when it can't load android:

When I say Try again, it will boot fine but still many errors when using apps with play services (almost all aps)
This is right after installing firmware
I have asked the seller on aliexpress to help me out (dasaita official store) but they stopped responding after I sent the youtube video

Play Store Not Updating Apps on Multiple Devices Help

I'm finding multiple apps are not allowing updates in the play store. It's always the same apps that are an issue. First it was one app, then two, now I'm up to four. It's always the same applications that refuse to update. If I click update it'll start the download and then randomly stall at a certain amount and hang. I have to cancel the download or it sits in eternity on downloading and hangs at a certain amount (usually in the 80-98% range). Any ideas why?
I've tried the following to troubleshoot and none seem to fix it:
- Clear data/cache and relaunch the Play Store (including with reboot of device)
- I've tried on a stock non-rooted OnePlus 6T (my personal device on Android 10)
- I've tried on my wife's rooted OnePlus 6 (which is under a different login I might add and running Android Pie)
- I've teried on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 (custom AOSP Pie based ROM)
They all have the same issue. I'm getting concerned it's slowly effecting more and more apps. All three devices otherwise work fine without issue. I'm perplexed.
See photo below how it's hanging on one and the other I cancelled it still sitting hanging. Those apps in the picture are all the apps that will not update.

Google Play Services

Does Google Play Services really need those permissions? If yes, why?

Welcome to XDA
It's always screwing around in the background...
I normally keep Gookill Play Services disabled useless I need it on my Note 10+.
Gmail needs it as does Playstore which I rarely use. Some 3rd apps need it. Backup Transport needs it which I don't use.
My 2 cents:
Google Play Services is tied to the very core of Android OS, and disabling it (or its permissions) can have radically negative effects on your device and its performance.
Google Play Services internally holds a list of all supported APIs an app - downloaded from Google Play Store - may make use of. When an app gets launched Google Play Services is queried whether the permission the app requires are granted or not.
Look also inside here:
