[Q] What are some unknown must have apps? - General Questions and Answers

We all know Tibu, Rom Toolbox, Nandroid Manager, Tasker, etc. Long story short, my Google Play balance expires in a week, and it got me to thinking. There's nothing I really need that I don't have.. or is there? What are some of your go-to apps, whether they be apps or Xposed modules, that don't have millions of downloads and make everyone's list? I personally use Unbounce, a free Xposed module to regulate wakelocks with a donation that unlocks premium features. Be them paid or free apps, I'm curious as to what I, and likely a good chunk of the XDA community might be missing out on. What are some lesser known apps you guys use that deserve some attention?

Two must haves indeed, I use them both daily.

In that case have a look at some themes, the flat square one (Don't know its name) looks pretty good

I'd like to recommend to you both the new XDA One app, which is going to be even better than XDA Paid. Here is the official thread: Official XDA One Forum App [Alpha][APK].

Yep, sorry about that once again .
Anyway before this gets too off topic may I also suggest All cast by the devs of CWM, also plex is good if you have a plex media server.
(These are daily apps if you have a chromecast or other streamer device)

Don't have Chromecast, but Plex looks interesting. Loving this XDA One app though, so much faster... and for an alpha, wow.

I don't know if the paid versions of super user app gives you anything your interested in but it's an option also I paid for a build prop editor just in case and love it

It's apart of CM7 or some ROMs. It is PinyIME, it is a Google keyboard that allows English -> Chinese.
Could you also CHILL OUT? Stop going "OMFG WHAT IS THIS?!?!?!?!?!??!" It's just a app, nothing malicious. Open Titanium Backup and simply uninstall it (or use ADB/Root Explorer) whatever you want.

It's on your device because you put it there. It's part of the firmware, not part of the "device."
You installed a non-stock firmware then panicked when you found a non-stock application running. Did you even consider reading about whatever firmware you're running to see what it comes with?

I can fault you for the way you reacted to it, considering you have 3000+ posts. I expected a more mature post. You obviously installed a non-stock ROM (or applied mods because you have battery %). The old CM7 nightlies included the same exact app, PinyIME. It's pretty much just a keyboard.
And agreed with mstevens. You flashing custom ROMs, you shouldn't be surprised if random apps are included with the ROM.

Sure you may have done a good job but..
any developer is free to decide about putting ads, it's a way to be rewarded for the efforts and the time spent. If you don't want ads you should get ads-free apps instead of using or achieve ads-blockers.
This kind of stuff will force many developers in publish more paid apps.
Just my opinion..
Will try this app. Thanks.

Even if I didn't have ads blocked I never once clicked one. I do understand why app have them, but rather their there or not, I don't click them. I am sure many others don't as well. And people who root their devices, which is like 5% at best, are the only ones who can block ads anyways. And if I like or use an app I usually by the full app for all functions.

What do you mean by scientific? Its quite simple: sin, cos, exp, sqrt among others.
Good looking out on Stick It! Once my tab charges back up (it ran all the way out of juice for the first time ever and if I weren't so relieved it didn't have issues like others who were unable to power theirs back on, I'd probably be pissed) I'll have at it.
Can't wait..
If this code is available now..
It will push most if not all of the utility apps into this mode..
Been waiting with baited breath for the other guys (onskreen) to get their system out of beta..
But if this coding is with us already and being used I would say its going to devalue their product somewhat..

just bought, seems like it has potential if some more development catches on. the calculator itself is handy for improving how i work with spreadsheets on the tf. I really hope something like that can be an option along with widgets! would only recommend if you want to support developer or fiddle with the calculator at this point.

Hi there, just wanted to share my latest app. Amazon daily app
If you are a user of the Amazon app-shop like me, you may have encounter the same problem as me:
- Being "forced" to download the free app of the day to add it to your account
Well you can still cancel the download once it's launch, but hey ... it was bothering me.
So here it is, with "Amazon daily app" you can see what is the app of the day, add it to your account, or download it (still need to get it by the amazon app).
Feel free to leave me comments and remarks.
If you do like the app or just want to help, a nice comment/rate on the app sotre wil be appreciated
And if you don't like it, there's plenty of apps that will certainly suit you on XDA (but no rate & comment will be appreciated ^^)
Play store link : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chimerique.AmazonDailyFreeApps.free
Cheers :highfive:
I've been waiting for this. I use the "free app of the day" app, but they're mostly things I'm not interested in so it'll be uninstalled soon. I much prefer the Amazon free apps, but unfortunately this isn't compatible with my phone (HTC One).
I'll be all over this as soon as I can be

Nop, I've a GS2 under 4.2.2 and a LG 2X under 2.3

It works for me now too. Thanks for sorting that
Edit: Why does it need login credentials? You don't need them to find out what the free app is.
Not that the app is not useful but you can also bookmark http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b/ref=topnav_storetab_mas?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011 from pc or mobile device to see the app of the day and "purchase" it without downloading. This will work for all devices period.

True, that's why at the beginning I only wanted to load the webpage, and play with custom CSS, in sort to see only needed information, and have a more user friendly interface. But performance wasn't really there, so I decided to go a bit further in the process
The other objective (not sure it should be done) is to automate all this process, and just grab every day the free app. This is only if I found a nice way to keep the session open (token or whatever)
@Archer: The credential are not needed to see what's the free app. It's only asked once you decide to "buy" it (for free) with your amazon account. Basically the credential is always ask to authenticate yourself to amazon website, as I don't want (for now) to store your password.
Hi there, little heads up for the last version which now can give you a daily reminder!
Some people did ask for it, so I added the possibility to save your password and so not have to type it each time.
The password is encrypted and save.
But still be aware that this is no safe mesure, and you should definitly use a dummy account for this.

I think you should mention that you havent made the App, it is made with http://www.appyet.com/ but I can't see this anywhere. Or isnt it?
EDIT: ok, how you guys mean, if you say its your work it is, but it looks increadible similar to apps which are made with appyet (I made one for my personal usage), take a look at some screenshots here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B...2JId2hOc1hVdkJKNHhOSVVpbjljREd4MnM&authuser=0
I mean this is my app and it looks to 100% similar to this and you only have mentioned that this app is made by another person, but this other person seems to use appyet.
I mean it is ok to use it, but still, it should be mentioned that this is made there, as when you guys let a computer make it, you are maybe not able to add new features or fix bugs, just want to say this and I don't want to say anything against you.
EDIT2: So now the dev told me that he used appyet and will update their thread to show us that he has made it with appyet.

App Yet Code
Hi,
i had a look at the code from "Material XDA Forum for Android" and i saw that the code is exactly the same as in my News App, which i created for myself.
U dont have to have real programming skills for using the website from "App Yet" and pasteing in png files as icons and weblinks.
Please mention http://www.appyet.com/ in the OPERATOR THREAD.
BTW: Isnt it illegal to create a "pro" version and publish it, if u dont have a license for App Yet?
