Is there an app that allows me to make the phone look like a tablet? - General Questions and Answers

Basically what the title says, I was wondering if there is an app (or xposed module) that allows me to trick an app into thinking that the device is a tablet...
If anyone is asking why would I want an app like this, I mainly want this because of spotify... I cannot stand listening to certain songs, but I cannot skip them because I don't want to pay 5 € a month for something I can have for free...
If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it

You could try the Xposed module App Settings to set a custom DPI for Spotify app. If you do it right, then the app should think that it's running on a tablet and hopefully it'll use a tablet UI.

Never mind, the solution to the problem is tabletmetrics...
Just enable it on xposed, reboot and poof! I can listen to whatever I please

Now Spotify do Not allow to reproduce the music I want, it force me to listen playlist randomized. Any idea?

[Q] Higher prioritize app not to be killed over another?

I noticed when playing my music w/ Viper FX that the sound quality goes from using the drivers of the app to stock flat (audio quality depreciates) since the app was killed while performing another task (such as opening hangouts or other apps while using phone). I noticed that Android doesn't release the RAM from another app that was being used (ex. ESPN, hangouts, etc) since those apps were more recent while Viper was opened and left. I was wondering if there existed anything to set a higher priority of the Viper FX (or other apps) over some so they won't be killed even if newer used? Thanks for any information.
Think this would probably be the easiest way: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartprojects.MemoryLocker - the developer is very well known for these kinds of mods and RAM management. Adjusting the oom ratio will give the app higher priorities so make it less likely to be killed. I'm sure there are ways to manual doing it via adding a script or something, but time and effort for all that, I dunno if it's worth it unless you really like to tinker and do stuff manually.
Thank you, that will probably be easier way with root. Was checking to see if any way to do manually since don't need just for Viper but may have to do it.
Ah, sorry. I was thinking that you had to have root for Viper, so that you were already rooted. Pretty sure there isn't a way to make these kinds of tweaks without root either manually or via an app like Memory Locker. There really isn't a compelling reason NOT to root, in my opinion. It's not complicated (compared to most other phones) and is fairly easy to reverse. If you'd like some help with it, lemme know.
I am rooted, sorry. Would it be possible to push the app from user app status to system app (via file explorer/permissions) (such as MusicFX)? Installed normally and it works great but maybe, if by making a system app, it'd be less likely to be killed versus user?
Don't want to use titanium backup push to system, had bad experiences and will not use the app again for some time.
Theres discussion about putting viper in /system/priv-app in one of the two viper thread's in themes and apps (n5).
I still have mine in /data/data.
I've made it resident with the xposed module called "app settings" but I can't confirm anything yet

Hi,
I have not tested and I don't know if it will be useful but there is an Xposed module to keep apps in memory, maybe you can try... This module is not only for this, there is other features.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437377.
- Resident in memory: If set, the system will try much harder to keep the app in memory even when you leave it. It might make the app more responsive when reopening but will also consume more RAM, possibly slowing down the overall system.

EDIT: maybe the app posted by es0tericcha0s is better, lightest and easiest to use...

Well I don't know if this is something that we can do or something the people who made the Viper audio mod need to do. Wouldn't a good way to keep it in memory be to keep a persistent notification? It really bumps up an app's priority in Android when it has an on-going notification up on the notification bar.

Yeah, exactly that. I just installed it again after a clean wipe of my phone a few days ago and have begun tinkering with it and JUST found that setting. To OP: enable the persistent notification. That'll make sure Viper4Android a high priority app when it sweeps through its open apps looking for one to close.

Would there be a way to hide it once enabled without using say Xposed? Running ART. Thanks for any info.

I think "hiding" it is actually "preventing" it, thus undoing what you want to achieve.
I think further discussion should join the viper4android thread, to keep it all in one place....

I am not sure on this one. The first thing that comes to mind is long-pressing the notification, going to App info, then unchecking the box that says "Show notifications". However, I think if you do that, it lowers its importance, circumventing the advantage of showing the notification in the first place, and you're back to square one. So I guess I don't know how to help you with this part.
Yeah, I suppose we should probably move to the thread listed above, too.

[Q] controll which app produces sound

Hi, i have a question/problem thats been bugging me for a while and i couldnt find a solution...
I want to be able to listen to music while playing a game/ using an app, now some apps are ok with this and "shut up" the moment you start playing music, but others, such as kingdom rush for example, shut down the music playback the moment you open the app.
Is there a method to controll wich app produces sound? Much like on the pc?
Thats in advance for your help =]
(Also i read some where that the best way to get an answer is not to ask a question but instead provide the wrong answer, so here goes: ANDROID SUCKS BECAUSE THERES NO WAY TO CONTROL WHICH APP PRODUCES SOUBD!! =] )
Hello @Moldat
Firstly, this can be quite easily achieved if you're running a device with Android 4.4.
I'm not sure if "App Ops" is available on lower android versions. But if you're on KitKat, you can simply go into App Ops, scroll through the apps, find you game. And turn off the "Media Volume".
This stops the game from using inbuilt music and sound fx. This means you can keep your music on in the background.
Hope this helped, if you need to ask anything else, please do so.

Oh you're in luck mate, go to the play store and search for "App Ops" download and install it. There are many choose the one that you feel like having. And its pretty much the same procedure, scroll lthrough apps and disable the media volume.

YouTube Screen off xposed module?

I know there are ROMS that have the ability to play youtube with the screen off. I am running stock, so I'm wondering if anyone has any xposed module that will allow this.
Thanks in advance.

I'd have to imagine most of the major apps such as Netflix will support Marshmallow soon-ish.

I haven't as of yet but will later tonight. Going by the last preview most of the stuff I use such as Netflix worked fine on it so it should be no big difference. I'll let others chime in on their experience.
Just installed. Netflix works with the exception of bluetooth audio. I either have titles stop at 25% or 99% buffering. On 99% I usually can hear the audio but it never shows video.

Anyone figured out and tried root?
HI
Can anyone help me to root and install the elementalx and root because my power botton is not ok and i need shutdown and on the Nexus only touch for this i use Kernel Auditor.
Can you help me.
Thanks
Casting is still a mess on the Player. Motion smoothing while casting via BubbleUPnP or LocalCast. Chucking and stuttering while casting UFC etc.
Refresh rate switching is great with Kodi though. But I still hate the limited RGB range the Player outputs.
Everything so far seems to be working as far as apps and such
How's the BT A2DP in here guys?
Hopefully someone figures out how to root this thing.
You can root it by flashing another Kernel. I did it. It worked okay but I ended up flashing 6.0 again and not rooting this time as it runs a bit better. You also lose the voice feature with it rooted. Here is a link to the directions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62412232&postcount=3
Do you know if 23.976 Hz refresh rate is now supported? Only 24 Hz was supported before.
It doesn't seem to be possible to change the default launcher anymore?
In DP3 I used target home launcher to use Kodi as my launcher, but in this final version it doesn't seem to work. Anyone found a way?
I tried to clear the defaults in the app settings for Leanback Launcher, but it says "no defaults set".
Too bad if they choosed to remove that option.
if they did remove the option to change your launcher, back to 5.1.1 i go. so far marshmallow has been giving me nothing but issues. i only had my nexus player for a few days, but i was just getting everything perfect.
thats what i get for trying to stay on the bleeding edge of updates. :/

I can't really see a reason why they would remove it though. There must be a way to get it to work.
Hopefully I'm stupid and didn't press the right buttons.

I have over 1,000 songs, I have a lot of music too. However, the issue only happens once in a while. Sometimes songs disappear as I'm scrolling and then they'll reappear as I continue to scroll.
Not trying to say anything negative about your project, just thought I'd bring it to your attention in case you were doing any type of debugging.
Keep up the good work ?

One question before i Root my phone and install TWRP
Is your Media apps package any different then the .apk HTC Music and HTC Car that you can also find online? Both work on my A9, just the Car app only allows the Phone app and Speak app to run while driving (MirrorLink)

Thats really a pity. Spirit FM doesn't work and stock FM Radio apk from A9 does also not work out of the Box with CM13. I guess there some drivers missing. Anyone a solution for that?
