Hello,
I know that there are many remote apps available for Android to control VLC player on your PC. But all of their UX look/feel expired and most of them are half baked. So I did build one called VLC Mobile Remote with a good interface, which works better than any of the VLC remote apps. Give it a try (it's free) and let me know your suggestions/feedback.

App will on work with Ethernet connected PC too, however both android and PC should be on the same network.

Feature request: remember last opened folder. Very handy if watching series. Because right now every episode I have to navigate back to the series folder. In my case it's a pretty big hassle. Y:/AVIs/Complete Series/<series name>/S<season number>/episodes here.

I'd also "like" to point something out: The folder where all our video files are has a hashtag (#) in front of it so that is the first folder. Unfortunately, the app doesn't open it. If I remove the #, I can open the folder and play everything. Is this something you can/want to change?
EDIT: Changed the sign in front of the folder to a plus sign (+), it works now. Thank you for this awesome app!
I have to admit, the UI is really really nice. Nice work
The only "issue" I have on my tab is that the buttons are not that sharp (as you can see in the screenshot). Other than that, no issues so far

Hi,
I don't know how you are trying to access the saved folders I had tested it, it was working. Anyway to access them just tap the button which has folder ? icon on it (in browse screen's right bottom). It will open a dialog with all the saved folder.
I think I should highlight it or you have any suggestions?
If it's not working please let me know.

Ok, here it is. The first public beta of CheapCast, an App that let's your Android Device emulate a ChromeCats Dongle. I decided to put this up for free since I believe it could potentially useful to a whole lot of people. If you like it and it works for you, feel free to just use one of the Donation options within the App.

Awesome concept, but I cannot get my Revue to cooperate at all. It force closes every single time I try to start the service. I've tried multiple reboots and re-installs. Blah this Revue is a POS.

Works OK so far. Great concept for sure!! I can get all 3 of my Samsung device to connect but can only get you tube to play. I keep getting errors when using Google play music. Says unable to play requested song.... Anyway, I have my galaxy note 8.0 and also a galaxy s4 connecting to a galaxy s2 skyrocket. I've even tried connecting just the note 8.0 and s4 and have the same issue. Hope to get this fixed soon... Would love to stream to my surround sound when I feel like jammin!

Both seem to have the same problems at the moment though, single channel? Loses connection with the sender after one or two tracks of a playlist.
Very much looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Same problem here, losing the connection after a song. The only way to get it working again is to either disconnect and reconnect the sender, or to restart the service on the receiver. Bar that, this is class

Had this issue as well. I found out, that CheapCast is registered as another device for Google Play Music. I already had 10 devices attached, so killing some of the old and not used ones fixed that problem.
Maybe you got the same problem, if its only Music that is not working?

Ok, cut the crap. Let me show you some numbers! We've compared SnapPea with another PC manager - MoboGenie which seems to be very popular recently, and as you know, we outperformed it, of course
Package size
The package size for SnapPea is only 4.5MB
The package size for Mobogenie is 30.4MB
Installation time
It takes only 2.94s to install SnapPea on your PC (here is a video to prove)
It takes 6.87s to install Mobogenie
Photo loading time (tested on a phone with 2000+ photos)
SnapPea takes 1.25s to load pictures
Mobogenie takes 8.16s
×a word here: we have made improvement to the logic of content loading, which means the photos won't be necessarily loading from the top to the bottom, instead, we load where your eyes are at first
Contacts loading time (tested on a phone with 3000+ contacts)
SnapPea takes 1.48s to load pictures
Mobogenie takes 57.75s
Memory usage
SnapPea uses only 70MB when in use and 24.7MB when not
Mobogenie uses up to 146MB when in use and 70MB when not
As windows users, you must know how it sucks when some software takes too much memory...
Enough for the numbers (sorry, can't help, too proud), if you do not know what a PC manager is. Here what it does:
Manage your contacts - import, export, edit, grouping etc
Text messages - send sms on PC
Manage your apps - install apks, will add export later
Manage your photos - import, export, delete, set as wallpaper etc
SD card manager - we have beautiful SD card manager interface!!!
Music&Video - import and export
Anyway, we understand that it is far from PERFECT, but we are willing to make it PERFECT. So if you're willing to help or simply criticize, you have all our ears. Bugs, wrong spellings, feature requests, anything is welcome! And we will answer EVERY question here and take EVERY suggestion seriously.

Hi Sam, I'm sorry I forgot to mention that if you've already installed SnapPea on your PC, you will have to uninstall it first then install the beta version sorry about that!

I'm a Android developer. I'd love to use SnapPea to get the phone screenshots , and to install the apk file to the phone. Of course I can use adb to do the same thing, but SnapPea is really beautiful and fast, I dont want to use the DOS console anymore LOL.

I should say i love this app and using it as my primary program for my work.. I used your app for about 1 year and still using it without any issue.
I just installed and used the beta version but just noticed that it has less functionality than the version 2.7 and also there is some bugs i found.
First one is the big one.. It cant even install apk files. Second one is, it cant show the device screen to capture screenshots like previous version.
there's so much it doesn't have compared to the latest stable version.
My main reason for this post is that i have a request for your team to make a new feature to the this very cool program.
My request is a simple drag n drop to install apk's and import photo & music & videos. it will save me SO MUCH time and makes using the app so much easy and enjoyable. also boosts the jobs i do with this program.

Can't install apk files
Seems like you have the same issue as Sam. Hmm.. there actually can be various reasons for this, such as if the file transfer was successful, or if SnapPea has the permission to install apks. You can try use the SD card manager to see if you can import of export files using SD card manager (which supports drag-and drop!!!)?
Doesn't show device screen
Actually I just used to SnapPea to take a screenshot, so I'm sure what went wrong here.. Did you make sure that your phone screen is on? Otherwise SnapPea will show only a black screen. It would be great if you can provide me more information here

We actually received this feature request a lot of times, we didn't have the time and manpower to do it for the PIM tools (photos, videos &music), but drag-and-drop now works in SD card manager. The new SD card manager is so much better than the last one Anyway, we will try to add this feature very soon, ok?

The player won't load [all] tags, says the song is only 00:00 long etc (look at screen#1)
Also, it gets stuck at loading the songs. Even the correct loaded ones.
Snappea loads the APK, sets to install and immediatly says it couldnt install, and after a second or 2 is force closes (screen#2)

Is it possible to backup messages? And import afterwards? Same for contacts? And apps? Sorry I haven't installed yet, if these features (or some) aren't implemented, are you guys considering it ?
And then, I'd like to help (besides bug finding) with translations. Do you need translations? I can do for Portuguese (PT-Pt).

Unfortunately, this work could be used for two fully opposite reasons, one of which is against the XDA rules, so I had no other choice but to close this thread (and remove links). I hope you understand me and sorry for the inconvenience.

Time ago, the app landed on our lovely Android platform for both tablets and phones and honestly who wasn't excited?
Soon after, forced shuffle mode and limited number of skips were also introduced and I agree that there must be a reason to purchase Premium after all. Luckily, this restriction was not enabled on tablets, but a problem that appears is that far from all tablets are detected as ones - mainly the "smaller" ones. This [bug/miss-code] activates the restriction on your tablet, and as a fix was needed from either side, here was my solution.
This mod was created for all those "small tablets" that are incorrectly recognized so that you can use Spotify the way it was meant to be used.

The signature/private hash (or not) of this app was not matching the original one Spotify had registered on Facebook. Absolutely understandable since this was a modified version.
As suggested by Romain12345 (thank you!), can you log in with your Facebook credentials instead of clicking on the "Log in with Facebook" button.

Time ago, the app landed on our lovely android platform for both tablets and phones and honestly who wasn't excited?
Soon after, forced shuffle mode and limited number of skips were also introduced and i agree that there must be a reason to purchase premium after all. Luckily, this restriction was not enabled on tablets, but a problem that appears is that far from all tablets are detected as ones - mainly the "smaller" ones. This [bug/miss-code] activates the restriction on your tablet, and as a fix was needed from either side, here is my solution.
this mod has been created for all those "small tablets" that are incorrectly recognized so that you can use spotify the way it was meant to be used.

MEGA is never down, it only needs the app for android if you want to download from phone. That's the reason I personally won't mirror.
About installing, you need to have "Unknown sources" enabled in your Security settings. Then just open the APK and install it as normal. If you still can't figure it out check YouTube for thousands of tutorials.

I've downloaded the apk for mega, and also tried to access the website. But it refuses to open the website or allow me to login to the app. Hence the servers are actually down. Op if possible can u post it on a different cloud?. Thank you for this amazingly brilliant apk!

Op u can as well check again, it's no longer a news that mega is down for now. You see people testifying. You can check up urself
@ViRb3 It doesn't work on gingerbread android again...
I think it's a problem of apk version because on Google play it was written that the version varies with device.
So please If you give me your email, I'll send the last apk version of spotify compatible with gingerbread to you.

OP I could possibly kiss you all day and it wouldn't be enough. Worked like a charm.
Also the server seemed to be down only in parts around the world. So anyone being unable to connect simply use a VPN. Works perfectly with a VPN.
Though it is currently up again.

Absolutely not. I am not "hacking" Spotify and making it Premium-free and that will never be my aim. I am just making it possible to run in tablet mode on smaller tables.

After searching around, I couldn't find any place people were really talking about these things... So here we go.
After finding out about the AirTV player and adapter from Dish, I purchased one. Here's what I've learned.
The adapter is a Hauppage WinTV-HVR-955Q. I tested it on my laptop and it works just fine. Best Buy sells that model for $59. Dish sells them for $30. Bonus.
I haven't tried sideloading the Amazon VOD app, but that's next on my list. Also, hoping that AT&T will release a DirecTVNow Android TV app soon. My question is, when they do, is there any way for Dish to block it on their AirTV box? Considering it is their direct competition. Or can we just root this thing and do it anyway? I'm thinking about just keeping the AirTV adapter and getting a SHIELD and going that route.
Anybody else messing around with these things?

They don't have any factory images available, but I got word that they are planning to push an update OTA by end of February.
We'll have to grab that when it's downloaded.
You can access recovery by plugging it in and holding down the "find remote" button.

Then you can reboot to bootloader, which then just starts up Android.
You can disable the sling app in settings and it won't then auto launch.
I like the remote of n the device. It automatically integrates with your TV using infrared. I am going to try it on the Nexus player to see how compatible it is.

Could you get the sling apk for this. I'm having scaling issues with SD content on Android TV version. Want to see if this is any better.

I have been using it for about a month and purchased because of the Sling promotion (Model UIW4010ECH). Works pretty well and has a good tv guide interface that combines the Sling and OTA channels. I am very annoyed that it blocks several apps including xfinity and amazon video. I'm trying to get amazon to work. I have ES file explorer installed and pulled the amazon apk from my nexus. Tonight, I plan to spend some time tinkering. If there is anyone with advise, I'm all ears.
I downloaded the Amazon instant video for android from API dot.com and side loaded it. it was version 4.1.20 which I think is the apk for Sony smart tv and after reset of airtv player , it has worked fine.
DirectTV app for tablets works, until I click on a channel to watch....lol

Has anyone figured out how to record OTA channels on the AirTV? I got the tuner through the Sling promotion and it pulls in all my local channels fine in both the Sling app and the Live Channels app. I put a 32gb USB thumb drive in the second USB to test if I could record anything but there does not seem to be an option to do that. My understanding is that in the Live Channels app guide shows that can be recorded should say something like "DVR recordable" in their listing. I didn't see that for any of my OTA channels.
I also tried sideloading the Plex Server app from a ShieldTV just for ****s and giggles but that wouldn't even install.
Has anyone had any more luck than me?

I'm also curious about this.. I have seen a couple reviews indicating they have disabled any kind of external USB support.. however, they do say on their website, "OTA DVR coming soon". That leads me to believe that they are looking into allowing external storage but that that haven't made it that far yet, which makes me sad.
I'm going to try and see if it can locate my NAS drive and get a 3rd party tuner app to record shows to it over my network. Other than that I don't think there's any way to get it working unless someone roots it and gets USB storage working natively.
Sorry if I am not knowledgeable on these things. I want to download and enable the apk for setvnow on the AirTV. Right now it only allows apps from the play store. I need to access the apk via a website. If i can then this box might just be what i need to combine IPTV and OTA TV.
Maybe the wrong spot, but I was trying to get the USB tuner to work on my Nexus. No such luck. I plugged it into my window 10 comp and had to manually download the drivers to get it to work since it's a Haupaugge (sp) adapter. Any idea to get it to work on the Nexus player. Those adapters are cheaper than it's own ones. Thanks
Edit. Just a thought. Been playing with it (Xbox one, etc) I wonder if dish blocked any device from Auto detecting it to find drivers??

Some suggestions: I need a music app to support a "proper" next tracks cue like the one Spotify uses (where you can easily add more than one track individually and there in the order you put them in and also prioritized before any suggestions are played; also the thing should be editable, meaning the order can be changed after adding the songs)

You might be able to use this app with android auto using AnyAutoAudio (look for it in the Android auto forum section on XDA)
If you've already tried that, I don't think you can use anything else yet. And, there's no other app that I know which caches and plays music for free.

I wasn't able to elaborate what i was trying to explain you what i was asking is that is there anyway to turn of autoplay in the app's explore page (the one which appears when the app is launched) if i am already playing another song from my library?
Im mean i search for a song play it go to the explore page and whoops! Some other song starts playing.
Anyways my friends installed this app and one of em is planning to switch to this after 3 years of Spotify!!
PS do tell me if there's any wat to transfer the downloaded songs to another phone and change my region(i am getting Bollywood songs as recommendations and suggestions which I'm not interested in)
