new youtube app

when i go to download it from m.youtube.com/app it says my device is not supported, can anyone find a cab for it? really want ti becuase the new one now has profle support, favourites, subscribers etc

Maybe a stupid question, but did you opened that link on your device or on your computer because when I open the link in opera mobile it gives me a download link.
Anyway, I attached the .cab

is this youtube cab better then built in versin

The new version of the YouTube app is better in lots of ways. It adds the ability to actually use your account, so you've got your videos, subscriptions, faves etc., which was always an annoyance of the original version.
Unfortunately, they've made it look really crap. I really liked the way the original version looked, but the new one looks like a WM5 app. It's terrible!
Why they felt the need to redesign a decent designed app is beyond me. It just needed extra guts thrown in.
It's still worth it for the extra functionality.
Anyway, in answer to the OP (despite the fact that he's had links to cab files posted already), it says your device is unsupported if you visit the app page in Opera. If you use IE then it works.

Mainly because the built in app is made by HTC, while this newer version is made by Google. The HTC made version requests a higher quality versions of the videos from Youtube, thus the obvious visual differences.
Anyway it should replace the original HTC Youtube app in the start menu, but the old one is still there in the Windows directory, you just need to create a shortcut for it.

Thank God that it is, because after installing the new version, I'll stick with the old one.
Besides the lower resolution video already mentioned, the ugly UI, it also rotates the video in the wrong direction.
Sad that it can't have all the greatness of the HTC version plus the account features. That would be great!

u just have to set the app to rotated, make sure that u are in landscape mode before clicking on a video, and it will be rotated in the right way.

Use Internet Explorer and it will download.
This app has a great interface, but video quality is shocking...I would advise against installing it.

I've found all sorts of things that annoy me with the shipped HTC youtube app that i wish could be fixed,
1, the quality isn't the quality you get from your desktop, the vids look much lower res on the phone.
2, If you pause and let the video buffer and it gets to the end then you've missed your chance to view the video and have to start over, why it can't just buffer then let you click back to the start is beyond me, this little fact had me pulling my hair out, either watch it play,buffer,play,buffer all the way through or waste your bandwidth limit redownloading the vid you just downloaded...priceless.

I must mention that this build is the same OS build like the BETA version out there, but a stock version. everything is ok, except the bug that all of us found
Picture live tile does not resize to the biggest if once resized
Some of the tiles have custom icons like the music+video tile, and maps tile, if those are resized to the little tiles it looks like they are stretched
The fonts are not ok, but i will share with you the original fonts of my windows phone 7.5 device which you can then add in the windows folder and reset the device and it looks then like before on WP 7.5.
The email tile does not show incoming email text, it shows only the number of emails (but it should display some text like the messages tile)
The small tiles have names on them, but should not have like WP8
Music, People, and Me tile dont change imidietly the accent, you must manually resize them to get the changed accent color.
The Marketplace (Store) tile sometimes have a windows logo on it, sometimes not.
Some apps like Amazing weather dont update the accent color too, you must enter the app to update the color (but thats a bug in the app, not in 7.8)
Apps like Nokia Navigation work, i dont know for Nokia Counter app because we have not added the driver for them.
Another bug in every 7.10.8835 build is the the letters on the applist dont have squares around them (this bug me a lot, it looks not good) if somebody know how to fix it send me an pm or leave an hint here in the comments.
The search button on the applist is invisible on the white theme, on the black theme it is there!

(in this download link you have the ROM, you need both HTC 7 PRO 7.8 ROMpart1.rar and part2 .rar, and the fonts) The fonts in this .rar are hidden and system protected you must "show hidden files"
and uncheck! "hide protected system files" to see them with file browser you can then manage them on the device to be visible.
Functions like GSM, SMS, MMS, WLAN, 3G, Zune Sync, WP device manager Sync and device charging are working!
Requirements for this ROM:
HSPL ! (i dont joke, if you dont have HSPL dont flash this ROM, you will brick your device) - This ROM does NOT destroy your HSPL so you can flash after it other custom ROM's

This pictures are mine, no distribution allowed without my permission. And the live tiles maybe look "pixelated" but thats due to xda-developers, in real it is smooth on the ROM.

thx we will post an working Arrive version, as soon as wee get this HTC 7 PRO on a good way and yeah it is good to see that people love their 1 gen devices, our HTC 7 Pro / Arrive are really good devices, and the keyboard is really useful. i hope we find some newer build then this 8835 because of the few minor bugs...

you extract the fonts.rar on this download link above, then you make it visible because they are invisible and protected, you must unselect the option "hide protected system files..." then you see them. Use Windows Phone Device Manager and connect to your device and put the files in the applications > data > select one of the "223hlk2h3lk..." folder > isolated storage > put the font there and memory the folder name "223hlk2h3lk...." (or any other of the existing), after that use The file browser which is in the ROM pre installed to select the files and paste them to the "Windows" folder. after that just power off your device, and power on (thats named soft reset) thats it.

Thanks for the answer, i tested it already for 4 days. and i must say it can be used everyday. so we have our 7.8 start screen without any compromises. Post your test here

ROM has a few cosmetic bugs, but I have not found a single mistake that would limit me in any way.
Bugs:
- Live tiles in the smallest size can not shrink text name (possibly application error, I can not judge)
- Tile pictures after reduction is again not maximize
- Tile people in the smallest form is not "active"
Apart from these minor bugs I found nothing, and I use the phone just like usual.

No problem with your English the live tiles at smallest size bugs me too (and only the 3rd party apps have it), i think all the small tiles are not active. But this is because 7.8, it is still BETA. i hope we find a new leak soon, some newer version of the OS. or maybe the final version

I tried the link again and i see that is available. but i would suggest you to use any newer ROM with 7.10.8858. my version is 8835, it is the second Beta version. so any ROM with 8858 is better out there...
and for the above comment, mediashare is a free hosting so they can add ads on their site, but if you click on download you must nothing pay...

Unfortunately, that limit is there. Apparently, it does not apply to you as you are the owner of those files. All other users get the following message:
The file you attempted to download is an archive that is encrypted or password protected. Is there anything recommendable out there? I simply need an unbranded ROM for the HTC 7 Pro with full unlock (ChevronWP) which can be updated using Zune. It does not have to be filled with lots of fancy things...

Hi everyone.
I want to ask about program called EReader that's placed in most ROMs for EVO 3D and in ROM Cool-ICS-v13-EvoG too.
I want to know how can I install it to other device?
When I copying it from system folder and trying to install on my ZT-282 C91 Upgrade or other android device it's giving me error and tells that application was not installed.
Please help me with this trouble. On the next week I need to fly far away from civilization and there only books will be available and I'd like to read them on my 10" pad but not on 4.5" smartphone.

Some apps have a data file as well. Maybe you should try copying the data folder over too.

The second and third are Aldiko ereaders. Mirrors of eachother. Just use the official second one. Or if it doesn't work, the third one. If you are not happy, use the first one.

And you should get an APK. That is an App. Put it on your sd then in your 10". Then use a file manager to install it. If you do not have one, install astro from the market. Then go into your sd with that app. Click on the file then install.
Anyway, back to your prob. You will have to copy the directory (ereader) from the system. And maybe the DATA folder.
It will not be compatible the way you did it because they are two different devices. Copying the system whole will not work.

If its com.htc.ereader then it is probably an HTC sense application which we all know cannot be brought to a non sense ROM.
And that ROM you linked is sense 3.6. So I'm putting big money on the table its a sense app

[MOD] Spotify tablet mode

Good evening!
If you're reading this, then you for sure know what Spotify is. We all love listening to music and, ugh, that's the synonym of Spotify!
Unfortunately, this work could be used for two fully opposite reasons, one of which is against the XDA rules, so I had no other choice but to close this thread (and remove links). I hope you understand me and sorry for the inconvenience.
Feel free to read the history below. It was a fun ride!
Time ago, the app landed on our lovely Android platform for both tablets and phones and honestly who wasn't excited?
Soon after, forced shuffle mode and limited number of skips were also introduced and I agree that there must be a reason to purchase Premium after all. Luckily, this restriction was not enabled on tablets, but a problem that appears is that far from all tablets are detected as ones - mainly the "smaller" ones. This [bug/miss-code] activates the restriction on your tablet, and as a fix was needed from either side, here was my solution.
This mod was created for all those "small tablets" that are incorrectly recognized so that you can use Spotify the way it was meant to be used.

MEGA is never down, it only needs the app for android if you want to download from phone. That's the reason I personally won't mirror.
About installing, you need to have "Unknown sources" enabled in your Security settings. Then just open the APK and install it as normal. If you still can't figure it out check YouTube for thousands of tutorials.

I've downloaded the apk for mega, and also tried to access the website. But it refuses to open the website or allow me to login to the app. Hence the servers are actually down. Op if possible can u post it on a different cloud?. Thank you for this amazingly brilliant apk!

I think it's a problem of apk version because on Google play it was written that the version varies with device.

OP I could possibly kiss you all day and it wouldn't be enough. Worked like a charm.
Also the server seemed to be down only in parts around the world. So anyone being unable to connect simply use a VPN. Works perfectly with a VPN.
Though it is currently up again.

Absolutely not. I am not "hacking" Spotify and making it Premium-free and that will never be my aim. I am just making it possible to run in tablet mode on smaller tables.

I've spent last days in making an app for taking notes. Initially, I wanted to make a shopping list, but then I decided to make an app which allow me to take notes because there are moments when I need to take a quick note. I can't upload it to Google Play because I don't have my own money ( and I'm almost 21 already... ).
I'm still a Tasker newbie
FEATURES:
☆ Possibility to save the current text from text field to a .txt file in a folder named MyNotes, along with the date and the clock when the text was saved. You can save text to same .txt file as much as you want.
☆ Enable a shake option to launch MyNotes.
☆ Enable a persistent notification, which after is touched will run MyNotes.
☆ No ads
That's all the features. I've wanted to add a color picker too for changing the theme, but it went troublesome for me and also then I didn't think themes are that useful for an app like this.

1. Who are you?
I'm Robert (Force @xda). I've created this app using Tasker because there are moments when i need to write a quick note and read it later. I'm sure that there are apps much better than this, but i wanted one made with Tasker. I'm addicted to Tasker, but i still noob
2) Why are required network permissions?
Tasker added the permissions automatically according to app actions/features. I've added a button named "XDA thread" which open the xda thread. The button purpose is for writing bugs/reviews/suggestions. There is also a "SHARE" button to contact me through email.
I can remove these 2 buttons if you are concerned. I can also share the xml project.
3) Long press the buttons to see what it does.
4) I would like to know your review, your suggestions and also let me know if you found any bug.
5) The .txt file get saved in the folder named MyNotes in your phone internal memory (most likely /sdcard/ or /sdcard0/).
6. The "X" icon or phone back button minimize the app, so it saves the current text in textfield.

Sure. I've attached it to this post. It isn't that clean, for example the main scene is called SHOPPING because initially I wanted to make a shopping list. I didn't rename since I've exported it as app.
Let me know if you have any questions regarding the project file, or if you think I can make "the code" cleaner.

Sure. I've attached it to this post. It isn't that clean, for example the main scene is called SHOPPING because initially I wanted to make a shopping list. I didn't rename since I've exported it as app.
Let me know if you have any questions regarding the project file, or if you think I can make "the code" cleaner.
Also, if you wanna make your app or something and wanna share it, I would like to give credits to me if you are using scene, only if you mind. because I've spent few days working on

I own a Samsung Note 3 so I am asking if could be possible to use the S pen with this project...

It seems nice but you can improve your design

It seems that is possible. Check that link. What kind of trigger you want?
By the way, LMT launcher helps in launching apps faster too.

At begin it looked even worse I think I'll try to design it with GIMP maybe.

Thanks.. but as you can imagine I am really noob with tasker so also with this app I really don't know where to begin to use S pen with your project... what I would like is the features to open your project when spen is removed and use the pen to write inside your notes...

As far as I can see on internet, you need a plugin to do that. It can't be done alone with Tasker.
This is what you need: Note Buddy (S Pen Helper) . It does what you're looking for, and you don't have to use it with Tasker.
Please check it.
