Ok, so I have a few different apps that throw up notifications throughout the day/evening whatever. I want to assign them a specific notification sound so I can identify them from other apps. These apps do not allow, in app, to change the notification and relies on the global notification sounds. Apps such as the NHL and MLB apps.
So, my question here is, can I somehow, force that particular app to have a particular notification? Is there something I can edit?
Thanks for reading, and I appreciate all the help I can get.

The default countdown timer on the phone has the most annoying sound when the countdown has completed. I have attempted to find the file assuming it was a simple mp3 or other sound file but I'm guessing it is not.
Has anyone had any luck finding this file and changing it? If so, can you list the path name?
If it isn't a simple file, does any one know how to change the notification?
Just to clarify, this isn't the Alarm function on the phone nor the stopwatch. This is the countdown timer (represented as an hourglass within the app). I use this quite a bit when cooking and could really use a way to change the notification sound.

My suggestion would be to use a 3rd party app as the built-in one will require root to modify that notification sound.

I've actually already rooted the phone as I assumed finding the file was just a matter of looking in the correct place.
If that is your suggestion, what app would you suggest? The 1 thing I need is to have a clock and date widget on my homepage. When I click the clock widget, I need it to go to my alarms, stopwatch, timer, etc. When I click the date widget, I need it to go to my calendar.
I have a widget (Retro Clock/Date) that does just that but I can't tell the widget to open up a different app when I click on it.
Beautiful WIdgets does exactly what you described, plus it is beautiful Not sure if all the features are in the free version though as I have paid.
Would also like to know this.

My guess would be that the audio sound you are wanting to change is in the APK of the clock app. To change you would have to decompile, find and change the audio file, recompile and then install on your phone. Should be in the system/app directory.
I would recommend Timely. It's a beautiful alarm clock app with a timer and stopwatch, plus a widget just as you described.

You can use an app called "sms unread counter". It only applies to icons on your homescreen. It works for calls, sms, and emails. As far as I know there is no way to do it in the pull down bar just with icons on the screen.

If I'm not mistaken Android kind of does this on it's own. I know if I get an email in my status it shows the notification. Then in that notification it can say +5 more emails. Then I can drag down on that notification to see the other emails without fully opening them.
You could try the app floatify to see of that will help you.
Yeah, through the same app the notification should not create a new notification but instead increase the number on an already existing notification.

hi Lokke. thx for reply
unfortunately calls, and sms is what i barely use. in other hand, such email, bbm, twitter, chat group is what i mostly use, and sometimes in group chat or community chat (bbm, line, whatsapp, and else) new chat just for new information about whats going on if that case i just slide to close notification. but sometimes also new important information come, and i barely see it because it stack with another notification

hi lolcakes, thx for reply.
thats what i thought, and i'm pretty sure if notification only per app not per new notification, it will come in handy.

on the other case if there is really no app or way to do it, i think this will be bring new idea for developer to make such thing like this, is not like iam demanding, commanding, or asking for the developer to made it, but consider it as an opportunity to make small step for android, because for me it will be usefull, and i hope for the rest who own an android devices. i mean come on guy, is android, free to do whatever it suite you, the problem is i even dont know where to start. lol
cheers :good:
I just updated my phone to 5.0 and while there are many cool new features, I'm not a fan of the pop up notifications that appear "banner" like across the top of the phone.
Not really noticing this with all apps but Facebook Messenger and Hangouts both have this. I tried checking sound/notifications and it does give you the option to disable notifications entirely for certain apps but thats not what I want. I'm simply looking to remove this banner pop up that appears no matter what youre doing, watching video, email, etc....
There is no way by default probably will become a custom ROM feature or an app to help.

Thanks man.
I think it's lame that Google would have this feature without an option to disable it. It's annoying during a video to have a banner pop up displaying your new message across the top.

Similar restrictions in lock screen too
My thought is the app would add a "widget" to the notification shade that has a text box and an OK button. You type what you want in the text box and click OK and it'll e-mail the text to a predefined address. I want something as quick as possible with minimal clicks. Most apps I've seen will open another app or something of that nature.
I don't mind paid apps.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I could maybe see this working for responding to notifications when receiving communications from other people but I can't see this being something that would work to send a new email without responding to something that was sent to you.

It may very well be an option. I'm no expert, I was just saying it would surprise me if it could be done through notifications.
You may can try using Tasker or a similar app to make this happen.

So I've been using venom ROMs for years but now they've been discontinued and the Oreo ROM no longer has a feature I find essential, that is heads up notifications for calls, now my question is, is there any other ROM for the U11 which has this or is there a way (without breaking safety net) to add it? Maybe an app or framework?
Any help would be appreciated as without this feature driving with navigation is infuriating.
Many thanks.
Have you tried something like "android auto" and the likes which set your display to be more convenient while driving?.
That doesn't answer my question
You said "maybe an app"... Android auto is an app. Maybe you should be more grateful for the input you receive or maybe reword your posts to reflect exactly what you're looking for.

Hi,
There's an app on Google play store to do what you want. The app calls ''Heads-up Notifications''.

Hi, while that app does add a heads up notification, it doesn't stop the dialer displaying over the whole screen which makes it pointless, I need the dialer not to show only the heads up notification like Venom used to do.
Cheers

Did you ever figure a solution to this?
Maybe disabling "show over others apps" permission for phone app?
Is in settings menu
