Hi,
I am rooted using the TWRP kltespr version. I flashed CM11 4-07 nightly and at first lost the ability to make calls but still had LTE data (go online, get email). After a reboot I lost both completely. Can't make calls and can't get data. I have done a complete wipe and clean installs of a few nightly versions. They all install without errors but I still can't get connected to my network. I have done several factory resets. Under mobile network data is enabled, I have tried "prefered network type" set to LTE, Global and 3G. Still no network.
Any help/suggestions getting my network connection back will be appreciated,
thank you
Search for how to fix your APN. I would say to upgrade your version too, the latest build from October does not have this problem anymore I believe.
Just about every AOSP rom is bssed on CM 11 now if your using offical CM 11 rom. I have flased several official. yhey yo spell out KLTESPR. but I chsnged the updater script no problem

Hi, I have an HTC Sensation running Cyanogenmod 9's June 14th Nightly. Originally I was running the June 15th Nightly, but I realized that my data was not connecting.
I was using WIFI and that worked perfectly, but when I was out of range, my phone attempted to connect to T-Mobile's network but failed to do so. The HSPA+ icon flickers on and off while the bars remain full and white. I was still able to make calls but I have no data connection. This was originally on the June 15th CM9 nightly. I flashed back to the June 14th nightly and the problem persists. I have also tried re-booting my phone several times.
I flashed the stock ROM with the 1.17 radios and Data worked but when I went back to ICS ROMS with the latest radios it didn't work. I also tried installing the latest RILs and Data still doesn't work.
Here is how my homescreen looks:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem using my new Miui Rom (it's based off cm9 nightly) . I used titanium backup to clean out my Roms and just like you I realized that my data keep starting and cutting out. I backed up everything so i re-installed everything one by one until something called Key Chain 4.0.4 finally was found as the missing piece. You might want to install titanium backup and check for that app (key chain)
Mine did that when I was trying to use different APN's. The only one that allows me to connect is wap.cingular
You could check that, I guess. Otherwise, try opensensation and/or a different radio.

Are you rooted? If so flash a different radio or else go to the store they can fix. There is nothing you can do without root.
Xxx oops! accidentally beamed from my awesome NEXUS S! xxX
I have the same problem.
It all started when I tried to flash a new JB ROM. I tried Paranoid, XenonHD, JellyBean and none of them were able to connect to my cellular network. Before that I used AOKP and when they released their JB build 1 I tried flashing it as usual with a factory reset and then flash ROM. But I still couldn't connect to my cellular network. I then tried to flash build 1 over my restored nandroid and this time I could connect. It was just like there was some important file that the factory reset removed.
Today I'm running Codename 3.4.0 that I flashed over the JB build from AOKP and I can connect and use the phone but at the same time I feel that the phone is not as responsive and so forth, not because of JB but more because of this flashing over and over again.
I have thought about going back to stock and start over but I'm not sure that would solve it, or at least that is more work then trying to fix this in any other way. (I presume)
Just recently I tried to install the latest Codename (3.5.0) and as usual I did a factory reset and wiped Dalvik, then flashed ROM and GApps but could not connect to cellular. I then tried to flash radio from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884 both the KF1 and KI1 but still doesn't work.
All this time I can unlock my SIM when the phone starts and I can search for cellular network but trying to connect just gives me an error code stating that I can not connect and that I should try again later.
Hi,
I recently decided to flash a jeallybean ROM since most of them are getting really great and we don't have any word on the official update. Unfortunatly, I'm now unable to get a data connection on my HOX. It's the rogers version which I unlocked and I'm now using on the Bell network. Before flashing, LTE worked fine with the stock sense ROM, but now I don't have any data at all.
ROMs I've tried :
AOKP, MIUI and CM10.
I've tried to : set the data connection to GSM only, nothing, to LTE only, nothing, to WCDMA only, nothing. I've tried all the APNs I've found (pda.bell.ca, pda2.bell.ca, inet.bell.ca). On AOKP it sometimes said "Error while searching for network". WiFi, texts and calls work fine.
If anyone could help me, it would be really appreaciated. Otherwise I'll just revert to Rogers ROM. Thanks alot!
I cant offer any help, but I'm having a similar issue recently. I was on a nightly build of CM10 (from 10/06/12 I believe). I upgraded to a newer build (from 10/10) and I get no data over cell. I flashed it back and things were fine.

Before flashing jelly bean roms you need to flash a sense rom then do full wipe and install cm10 or aokp..

I have the exact same problem with my SGS using the X-bean 3.0 rom.
What's the best solution? Is it because I used to Cwm?

Every device has its own nuances, as do various ROMs. So I'd advise posting this in the forum specific to your device.
Still no data connection.
I am having the same issue with my AT&T One X phone.
The phone was running 2.20 before it was unlocked/rooted. Installed TWRP, was a noob and forgot to save a backup, fastbooted the boot.img, flashed AOKP and CM10 successfully. With both of these ROMs, I could not get internet to work via cellular connection. I have tried everything with the APNs (even had AT&T help me setup APN settings) and still no mobile data connection. I can still receive/send SMS/calls, use bluetooth and wifi, just no mobile internet.
I'm not entirely sure what to do next. I attempted to go back and flash the UrDroid 4.1 Stock Sense ROM, but after fastbooting it's boot.img and attempting to flash with TWRP, I got a signature verification failure. Got scared and restored back to AOKP (I remember to make a backup this time.)
Thoughts? Sorry for being a noob.
Are you in an LTE area?

I am in a "4G" area (HSPA+) but I am also a hour drive away from LTE. I have tried APNs for both, but AT&T recommended I stick to the LTE APN. AT&T had me go to Settings->More->Mobile Networks->Network Operators and the phone just sat there searching without finding anything. I just did that above operation again and it found AT&T and I selected it. It spins on "Registering on AT&T..." for a few minutes and eventually errors out "Cannot register on this network at this time."
Have you tried switching off LTE by selecting "GSM/WCDMA Auto" in Settings?
I've had data problems on certain ROMs, where turning off LTE got the HSPA+ connection working.
In that case, it was probably a base of build.prop not playing well with AT&T's network. Although I would think the ROMs you mentioned would have these issues worked out at this point (and for some time now).

When I switch to "GSM/WCDMA Auto", it immediately switches itself back to the LTE setting. This is concerning.
First of all, sorry if this has been asked before - but I have honestly been searching for a while and couldn't find anything.
Ok, so bear with me peeps, this a weird one.
The Problem:
My rooted verizon S3 is running LiquidSmooth RC2 with the latest gapps on a GSM Carrier (T-Mobile US). The phone function works perfectly, but TEXTING (sms & mms) and DATA do not. What should I do for this (and other custom Verizon-S3 ROMs) to be truly global and work with GSM?
ps: I can't find APN settings anywhere, and the "APN Manager" app crashes the phone. I don't have a data plan, but the phone should still be able to access the tmobile plans website when I enable data - it doesn't.
Background info:
My carrier is T-Mobile, but I recently purchased an used Verizon GS3 (which is supposed to be a "global phone"). The phone was already rooted and flashed to an ICS Touchwiz Rom, so I popped my sim card in and switched to 'Global Mode' under Mobile Network Settings - and everything (except for MMS for some reason) worked fine. However, I eventually got bored with it and decided to try out other ROMs. I tried a few options, like CM and AOKP, but couldn't find one with Global Mode (or any option to enable GSM) until I came across "JellyBeans" - JB 4.1 and Touchwiz - which finally worked. This, along with some online literature, seemed to confirm my fear that Global/GSM Mode would only work with Touchwiz Roms... until I installed LiquidSmooth RC2.
After installation and initial boot, I go to network options and find this:
"Preferred network mode: LTE / CMDA / EvDO / GSM / WCDMA"
However, when I click the setting it only gives me the following two options (like the other Non-Touchwiz ROMS):
- "LTE/CDMA/EvDO"
- "CDMA/EVDO auto"
Tinkering with the above settings result in the loss of that last "gsm/wcdma" part, and will revert back to one of the two aforementioned options, rendering the phone unusable on GSM networks. At least in my case, the only way I found to go back to the default 'lte/cdma/evdo/gsm/wcdma' was by performing a factory reset and wiping data/cache, restoring the phone to one of the previous Touchwiz Roms that worked, setting it to Global Mode once again and then reformatting it in order to reinstall LiquidSmooth.
In any case, I just want to be able to flash custom roms and have the thing work with other networks.
I'm assuming that I can't flash an international or a tmobile (or at&t) S3 rom to my d2vzw, right?
So what should I do? I found suggestions about related to modems and radios, and also about compiling a d2tmo rom with the d2vzw requirements, but no easy way and not much else.
So, once again - is there a way to make (non-Touchwiz) Custom ROMS for Verizon's S3 to be truly "global" and fully compatible with GSM networks?
Thank you all in advance
- Mike
Workaround for GSM/Global Roaming
Well, luckily, invisiblek just helped revert a change on the CM tree that blocked GSM/Global roaming! Yay!
This commit got reverted: frameworks/opt/telephony 5343f09 PhoneProxy: On v6 or greater RIL, when LTE_ON_CDMA is TRUE
Now, official nightlies should work with GSM carriers. I, myself, use T-Mobile.
As for custom ROMs, you may have to wait till those AOSP ROMs merge those commits and changes. For now, you can use mastamoon's UNOFFICIAL CM builds, invisiblek's UNOFFICIAL CM builds, or the OFFICIAL CM builds, for now.
Although, you have to jump through some hoops. This is what I do:
1. Install ROM, Gapps, Wipe Cache/Dalvik, Reboot
2. Go into phone info by dialing *#*#4636#*#*
3. Phone Information -> Change to GSM only or any other GSM related network.
4. Turn off radio then back on (or reboot)
5. Add APN settings under Mobile Settings:
Code:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
6. Reboot, profit!
*7. Check if you get any FC by calling yourself quickly and hanging up. If you do get a FC, go wipe cache/dalvik then reboot.
We've discussed a lot about it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094251
+1 on paravex's post.
And, +1 for ,mastamoon's unofficial CM10.1 ROMs. They are amazing!

I second that, ausman... Thanks a lot PARAVEX, this is greatly appreciated!
Tried AOKP again, the latest build is 10 days old... still no bueno, so I'm now running the latest (today's) official CM nightly!
It's weird, LiquidSmooth worked perfectly as a phone, but no texting or mobile data... I even managed to add the APN (downloaded an app that would give me access to APN config), but nothing. Eh, next version should fix everything.
Thanks again!

Any builds updated as of 3/15 will work.
And glad it works for you!
can't connect to my data?
I'm having a problem where i cannot cannot to my data, the ROM is amazing, the battery life is great and, i just love the features of the original stock. But only one problem is that i can't connect to the internet!!, WiFi is working fine just the data. It says that its enabled but no luck, if anyone has a solution that would be great!
Is anyone running the most current snapshot? I installed it and lost reliable mobile data. It looked promising at first but even after a factory reset with a sense ROM I couldn't resolve it.
To start, I'd just like to know if it's possible with this release.

Im running that snapshot on a M8 w/ Verizon. I had to go into Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names ->Reset to default; in order for LTE to work. I was only getting 3G.
I continue to experience mobile data issues periodically & have to do the previous steps to get it to work again.
I did a dirty flash from the stock ROM, so I may try wiping everything & flashing to this build again. (or trying the latest CM 13 nightly.)
I hope this helps.
Thanks for confirming my experience. I'm wondering if the CM developers are testing with Verizon. My experience with their most recent builds has been pretty bad- especially with mobile data. It's always a bummer when older versions work better than newer ones.
I am running the CM13 nightly builds based on android 6.0.1 and so far they have been running great. I have specifically flashed the 12-25-15 & 12-26-16 builds. The only issue I have had is that occasionally the WiFi does not want to connect after a reboot, but toggling airplane mode fixes it.
