If I check off "DATA CONNECTION : Put to sleep when screen is off", will I still receive calls, email & texts?
Yes.
Easy enough. Thanks!
I believe MMS messages will not come through until your phone is turned on. I could be wrong. I have mine ticked off and the other day a group message pic came late.

Again, I searched for about 30 minutes before posting this.. in both diamond and touch pro forums and all over here.. I figure this is a common issue, but still found nothing. Maybe I'm a bad searcher... (Sorry)
I get a ring sound, but no visual notification of texts or emails.
Is there anyway to make touchflo3D or something show the actual text message or email pop up when received?
I'm sure there's a small notification icon somewhere, but I can't see it... And even if I could.. I'd rather the message just pop up anyway.
Thanks-
You need to go to Start>settings>sounds & notifications>Notifications Tab>Event>Messaging: New text message> then click the "display message on screen" box.
Hope this is what you were looking for.
EDIT: Repeat same cycle for email notifications.

okay im having a problem with that. I've done that several times and it works for several minutes then my on screen notification stops showing up and the setting is unchecked. Im not sure if its becuase i receive a txt msg while using an app or w/e but i have 2 go through that setting like 5x a day...its gettin annoying!!! any ideas??
Having same problem here. The "display on screen" box keeps becoming unchecked on its own. Does anyone have any idea/solution to this? I recently took my phone back to O2 to upgrade to the latest firmware, and it's still happening. I'm pretty sure it happened with the previous firmware as well.

I noticed that a long time ago too and don't have the solution.
But it seems to me that the option gets unchecked automatically only when you are doing some specifics things wth your device. Otherwise it remains checked and works properly.
For example having the option checked, open some of your usual applications and send yourself an sms (my carrier allows me to send myself an sms through their webpage ) and you 'll see that sms pops up with some of them and not with others.
Luckyly the most recent version of windows mobile (the one with the thick bottom bar) has a new notification method, so when you touch the taskbar, an amplified version of that taskbar rolls out, and there you 've a "message icon". You touch that icon and it drives you directly to the pOutlook app and shows you the message. That's Cool!

Bought a Droid Maxx today and I'm loving it except for one problem -- the Active Notifications are not working properly. It does display the time and the swipe down to unlock, but that's it. I currently have unread gmails, a missed call, and missed texts, but nothing. I verified that it's turned on in the settings and that the appropriate apps are selected. "Sleep at night" is not checked. I tried googling for an answer but I seem to be the only person in the world with this issue. Any ideas? I'm at the end of my rope. Since there's no notification light on this phone it's kind of a deal breaker. Also tried a Factory Data Reset, did not help.

If you've unlocked the phone already they won't show up as active notifications. So if your phone was unlocked, you got an email, locked it, it won't show up as an active notification even if the email is still unread. Or if you heard the phone go off for an email or something, unlock it to see you have a new email, then relock it, it won't show up even if the email is still unread. I don't know if that helps, otherwise I have no idea why it wouldn't be working
I was getting ready to take the phone to Verizon today to exchange it, and I asked my wife to call it again just so I'd have a missed call to show them (the FDR wiped out the first one). Guess what, on comes the Active Notification! Then I had her message me and it worked for that as well. So suddenly it works. Guess I'll keep an eye on it for now just to make sure it's working consistently, but it looks like the problem may be solved.
I have posted here but recieved no answer. I figured my question belongs here anyway, so I won't bump the other thread.
I am trying to use Hangouts as my default SMS app (It is also currently the only SMS app installed on my device) because I do like it. However I noticed that sometimes I don't get any notification when I recieve a text message, no vibration, nor sound nor notification in the status bar. As a result, I miss quite a lot of texts. Notice that I do recieve those texts, if I check the app they are there, text bold to indicate they are not yet read. I just don't get the notification. Also, most of the time I do get the notifications without a problem. So to be clear, this is about some SMS's, not about all.
As far as I know this happens when I recieve the message very shortly after I put down my phone (my routine: send text, press 'backbutton' once to get in the hangouts overview, and then I press power to shut of the screen and put the phone down.) If I get a message let's say within half a minute of me turning of the screen I won't have a clue I recieved the message until I go look in hangouts to check. This happens often when someone is quick to respond to my own message, but could maybe be happening with other messages I recieve in that time. I don't think this happens to messages I recieve when the screen has been off for a time, but I can't say that with certainty.
I have a HTC One S currently running CM11, but I had this problem on stock ROM too. However never with the HTC stock messaging app.
I have found similar problems here on the forums, but no satifying answers. I hope someone has a solution?

I seem to be having the opposite problems of some folks here - I've been getting too MANY notifications.
Specifically, at night, I set "do not disturb" mode and wear my S2 Sport (that's the 720, right? It's a 720.) to use the alarm feature.
However, I'm far enough away from my phone that the bluetooth disconnects and reconnects - and I get an annoying BZZ BZZT whenever it does so.
Also, last night it apparently WAS connected because I got a couple of text message notifications as well - all while DnD was enabled.
I've reset the crap out of the thing, it's had the latest updates, anyone else having this issue?
A couple of questions:
Do you get buzzed for the text messages? The notifications still come to the watch in DnD mode but should not cause a vibration.
Do you have the application Brrr installed? I use that for telling me if my watch got disconnected. It does not respect DnD mode.
Do you have the built-in bluetooth disconnect alert enabled? I have not tried that but it should respect DnD.
Hope that helps.

Hey there Fred - thanks for the reply.
I did get buzzed for the text messages last night, which is what threw me. The little minus-sign-icon on the main watchface was there, indicating DnD mode.
I've never heard of Brrr, so no.
I just disabled that alert now, since I really don't care about it. It buzzes me as I walk around the house and yard. It's more annoying than useful. I hadn't thought to look for a setting for that until you mentioned it
It occurs to me to test the notification buzz again - so I just turned on DnD and sent myself a text... and of course it's nice and silent. I wonder what's going on?

Possibly, the buzz you got was for a disconnect alert and the text message happened about the same time so that it was confusing. I use DnD a lot and find it works pretty well. It does let alarms through though.

I'm planning on the alarm getting through, but most mornings would welcome the extra sleep
I turned off the bluetooth disconnect alert and last night was smooth. I have my fingers crossed!
Texts not showing up on phone, although emails do. This seems to have started when I upgraded phone from zflip 3 to zflip 4. Any ideas?

See if text app is enabled in wear app, settings, notifications, app list toggle
Thanks very much. I think that should do it.
