"Do not disturb" is still disturbing... - Samsung Gear S2

I seem to be having the opposite problems of some folks here - I've been getting too MANY notifications.
Specifically, at night, I set "do not disturb" mode and wear my S2 Sport (that's the 720, right? It's a 720.) to use the alarm feature.
However, I'm far enough away from my phone that the bluetooth disconnects and reconnects - and I get an annoying BZZ BZZT whenever it does so.
Also, last night it apparently WAS connected because I got a couple of text message notifications as well - all while DnD was enabled.
I've reset the crap out of the thing, it's had the latest updates, anyone else having this issue?

A couple of questions:
Do you get buzzed for the text messages? The notifications still come to the watch in DnD mode but should not cause a vibration.
Do you have the application Brrr installed? I use that for telling me if my watch got disconnected. It does not respect DnD mode.
Do you have the built-in bluetooth disconnect alert enabled? I have not tried that but it should respect DnD.
Hope that helps.

Hey there Fred - thanks for the reply.
I did get buzzed for the text messages last night, which is what threw me. The little minus-sign-icon on the main watchface was there, indicating DnD mode.
I've never heard of Brrr, so no.
I just disabled that alert now, since I really don't care about it. It buzzes me as I walk around the house and yard. It's more annoying than useful. I hadn't thought to look for a setting for that until you mentioned it
It occurs to me to test the notification buzz again - so I just turned on DnD and sent myself a text... and of course it's nice and silent. I wonder what's going on?

Possibly, the buzz you got was for a disconnect alert and the text message happened about the same time so that it was confusing. I use DnD a lot and find it works pretty well. It does let alarms through though.

I'm planning on the alarm getting through, but most mornings would welcome the extra sleep
I turned off the bluetooth disconnect alert and last night was smooth. I have my fingers crossed!

[Q] Dropped Call Notification?

I'm hoping I missed something in the settings. . . but does anyone know of a way to enable a sound/notification when a call is ended/dropped? I saw there was a connection notification option but that only "dings" when the call connects, not when it disconnects.
I was left talking on my phone for close to a minute the other day when the call had been dropped--pretty annoying.
The Captivate does not drop calls, therefore does not require a notification alert
The iPhone is the only phone thats drops calls

I missed this feature, too. I set it up pretty easily in Tasker (market app--paid, but worth five times its cost). On the "Phone Idle" event, I used a "Vibrate Pattern" action to send two quick pulses when a call ends.
Tasker is amazing.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yet another use for tasker. . . I'll probably have to give the trial a shot which I'm sure will result in my buying it.

[Q] 'Do not disturb' setting turns on in the middle of the night randomly

Does anyone else have this problem or know how to stop it?
The schedule function is off, so it can't be that. I've enabled the exception for alarms within it since this keeps happening, but could be dangerous for some people if it does enable on its own like this.

Yeah I get this too. Looks like it's enforcing the schedule to me, despite it not being enabled. Really annoying

I figured out it was automateit, the app. I had it set to turn the phone down to silent at a certain time of night, but apparently this option enables do not disturb mode on this phone instead of just silencing it. Just poor handling, can't blame the app though, phone is still very new.

I'm having the same problem but its also happening in the middle of the day. I've tried to schedule when its to turn on/off but this has not helped.
"Do not disturb" setting turns on randomly
Same problem. Any advice appreciated. For the moment I've gutted the DND setting by telling the phone to let calls, texts, and emails through when in DND mode.
Are you sure its not some app you have installed on the phone?
JuiceDefender for example does this for me, even when do not disturb is turned off in the main settings.

Thanks. Yes, it's an app, though I don't yet know which one. Restarted in Safe Mode and issue went away.
Do not disturb coming on by its self .
I had the same problem on my Samsung J7 .
What I did to solve that problem was I uninstalled all my apps and reinstalled them one by one and watched which one was giving me problems .....And the app TrackR was my problem now I have no problem with my do not disturb ...The app TrackR seems to have a bug .
Happens w the S8+ too
I have tried and tired to figure this out. I am missing important texts because my DND is turning on in the middle of the day randomly despite turning it off. Any ideas?
I bought a Samsung S8, and immediately started having this problem. It stumped me for a while, until I found this thread. I had installed Tasker and imported the settings from my old phone. It turns out that the action to turn on silent mode was turning on Do Not Disturb instead. The actions that used to say Silent Mode "On" now said "Mode 2". I tested it out and, sure enough, it went to Do Not Disturb. For some reason, "On" no longer appears in the pull down box for silent mode; only "Off" and "Vibrate". For now, I'll switch all the broken actions to say "Vibrate".

[Q] How do you get the alarm to ring when in silent mode - Lollipop ??

I've updated my G2 yesterday and missed my alarm this mourning!! Putting the phone into silent mode during the night apparently will also silence the alarms, which is just rubbish!! I've noticed there's something about muting everything except priority stuff but I don't see the alarm in it.
How does one goes about this?? Or should I just turn the phone off during the night?

OK so when it hit the sound button on the notification bar, twice, to get to the do not disturb it says "no interruptions, not even for alarms. For alarms, set to priority only" But I don't see that option.
Found it. In sound settings, go to do not disturb, hit call and notifications. Then you get all, none, or priority only. But grrr, at night I used to hit (on KK) the LED and quiet mode quick button. Now many more hits, maybe that can be added with a mod.
Just found out too I don't get fast charge with AC plug.

Yeah, I'm not trusting myself with this way of doing things. I bet I'll fail do it properly or forget it altogether more times than not.
I think I still have fast charge but I'm not liking Lollipop at all so far. Colour schemes, the weather app, no lunching stuff from lock screen, this nonsense alarm thing... I think I'm just going back to 20y and wait until some effort is put into this.

Random notification sounds or vibration?

Since I purchased the S8+, I've been getting random vibrations when it's in my pocket or when it's in my hand (when muted), and random notification sounds (when not muted). It's up to date, notification reminder and smart alert are both off. I've read that other people are experiencing the same problem but no solution has been found.

Ya I've gotten a few random vibrations too
Sent from my SM-G955U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
No sounds here but definitely vibrations at least once a day randomly..
I wonder what it is..
I get them too, I think it might be something to do with the weather app/widget updating
That's been driving me crazy I'll pick up my phone and it'll vibrate for who knows what reason.
I disabled my weather app and widget, but everything is still the same. This is very frustrating, I hope Samsung fixes it ASAP.
I can confirm this problem. Random vibrations. Sound on, vibration on. I thought was only my phone. Exynox version
Is NFC on and it's getting close to what it thinks is a tag? Is it in a case with your bank cards in?

Nope, NFC is off and it's not close to any credit card or NFC device. I'm clueless.
I believe it's a bug with the fingerprint sensor.
Had this on my other phone. It was yahoo mail app.
It would go off whrn i git emails from people i repy to or updates on orders.
Took a while to find it
My wife also had this problem but tyrn out to be another app.
I have the same issue too.
More times a day i feel single short vibrations, but without any notification.
I tried to ask samsung customer care, but they do not know the problem.
They told me to try using the phone in safe mode to see if the problem was gone.
So to understand if it was a phone problem or of a third party application.

Phantom vibrations, look it up.
Do i have to look for phantom vibrations?
I did, but i can't find any solution
This is Dave4777, I just spent over an hour on the phone with AT&T and Samsung turned off almost every app I have that has a Notifier except the ones that I want which make a different notification than my default one period and I'm still getting the random sounds and vibration together or if it's muted I get vibration only. Random no idea why neither does Samsung have any clue. Very frustrating especially for such a high end phone
Figured out what it was on my s8+. My notification reminder was on. I assume the weather app triggered it. Turning it off fixed the issue.
SOLUTION:
Settings>accessibility>notification reminder>off
S8 random notification sound SOLVED!
In notifications settings i switched off notification reminder. The sound is gone by me.Try that
It's either NFC, the finger printer scanner, GPS location services or the commonly forgotten S-Pen (is it loose or missing?)
Go to settings menu, then accessibility, then turn off notification reminder.

Notification on phone reminding me to charge my watch when not wearing it

Anyone else get this since the end of January 2018? I now get a notification after I have removed my watch saying "Remember to charge your Gear if you're not wearing it" every time I have removed my watch (shows up maybe an hour after I take off my Gear S3. It's getting extremely annoying, especially since I can't find any way to disable this! F***ING Samsung! Only 2 options are "Silent notifications" which still shows the icon in the status bar and then the notification in the drop down notifications. The other option is "Don't silence or block" which means it will also make a notification sound. Inside the notification settings I can't silence the Gear S Plugin as the only option is for how the notifications are handled on the Lock Screen.
I hated the damn notifications when the bluetooth connection dropped and/or connected but finally just figured F*** IT and just lived with it but this reminder to charge my watch is seriously F***ING annoying as hell! My watch can have 90% battery life and I still get this notification a little while after I removed it from my wrist. Why the hell does Samsung do this kind of stupid BS? Give me the damn option to completely block/disable these annoying notifications! I am using the Canadian Note 8 (N950W) and literally went through every option on my phone settings and Gear Manager and on my watch even and can't find a way to disable this new ridiculous notification!
Does anyone know how to disable this somehow?
T-mobile note8 and yes i get it too, not annoying to me but yes it started appearing after the latest version of samsung gear
Absolutely agree.
It's F***ing annoying and I can't find any way of stopping it either.
The watch doesn't need charging every night and I'm fed up with being woken up by this annoying message.
I've ended up silencing ALL notifications until somebody (hopefully Samsung) finds a solution.............
Never see this notification ?
I've been seeing this notification now for about a week... I don't understand what the point of it is? This needs to be disabled, like wtf lol.
Same problem here, I've been taking my watch off after a late night walk and after going to bed, I get this annoying as buggery notification on my phone, which wakes me up.
Not happy Samsung, remove the thumb from the ass and get it sorted (fire your software team while you're at it)
I got this notification as well, annoying...
I get the message when it's on my wrist at 100% and 90% charged. This notification is not needed. Samsung we know to charge our watches when we aren't wearing them its common sense. You should set this warning when battery reaches 15% or 10% charge. This what the phones usually do anyway.
Same annoying nonsense here. When I work away I take one charger and alternate charging my phone and watch. Overnight I charge the phone so I get this notification an hour after I go to sleep. Crazy that you can't disable it without turning off other notifications too.
Go into your settings on your gear s3 and click on watch faces scroll down where it says status indicator and turn that off. That should prevent your watch from sending any status notifications to your phone. Hope this helps you I kept getting the same notification

But turning that off means I won't have the little orange notification dot on the watch face when I have something waiting cuz at work my phone stays silent and I check my watch for notifications.
I shouldn't have to disable that feature to get rid of the other stupid one cuz Samsung are incompetent. I don't know why Samsung does stupid **** like this, is it so hard to make it an option that can be turned on/off by each person's preference?
Anyway, glad I'm not the only one annoyed to hell by this. I emailed Samsung using the link in the play store app page as well as left bad reviews on the play store and galaxy store in hopes they'll change this stupidity. I won't hold my breath since it is Samsung but you never know, lol.
This is happening on my Gear S2 as well and it's very annoying. In between this and the s-health weekly nag I can't turn off I think this is my last Samsung watch. I skip all Samsung software updates that I can because it seems like every other week they break something or make an app worse. I just don't understand this design decision, I mean do people really want their electronics nagging them this much?
Agree

It's driving me crazy too. I have filled in contact form on Samsung site. Suggest you all do the same. Just let them know.
This is crazy, how could Samsung developers think its acceptable to make an audible noise reminding me to charge my watch anytime of the day?
I spent half an hour trying to figure out how to disable this only to find out it is not possible.
It's been waking me up at night!
You can turn off the weekly updates now. I just figured it out. On your watch go into apps, then pick s health. Scroll over to settings. Then click health nudges and you should see the option to disable weekly summary. Hope that helps with that issue.
Now someone just has to fix this stupid notification to charge the Gear. I tried tweeting with Samsung Support and they just don't understand that it's not a bug but something that they made in the new update. Sigh.
The real question here is what quality control / review went into this being added to the watch?
I was again woken up by a Gear notification from my phone today, I have no option but to put the phone on silent or turn it off.
The only solution I've found so far......
Having emailed Samsung support who were no help whatsoever I've resorted to a kind of fix - although it's far from ideal.
On the phone -
1 - Goto "Settings/Sounds and Notifications/Do not disturb"
2 - Tick "enable now" and then go to "exceptions"
3 - Select "Custom" and then select "Alarms", Calls from "All", Messages from "All", "Event/task alerts", and any priority apps required (but definitely NOT "Samsung Gear"!)
This doesn't stop the notification but does silence it!
It also brings up a permanent notification saying that "Do not disturb is enabled" - but that's silent too.
Calls and SMS texts etc. still get through with their usual sounds.
Optionally you could enable "Do not disturb" to follow a schedule - e.g at night only.
Until Samsung listen to their customers and pull their finger out with a solution that's the best I've come up with so far. Not ideal - but better than being woken up at 1am every night!
Same here since January. Damn update. I hate this notification. I always have the phone on silent at night so it does not bother me so much. But I hate notifications that I haven't asked for
Maybe this will work
When the notification shows on your phone, just press and hold down till you get to a notification menu and disable it.
I just did it, so let's see if that works
I'm getting all other notifications from others apps
Hope this helps
I got a S8 plus
