[Q] VPN & Disabling Lock Screen Security - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've setup a VPN connection on my GNP but the tablet insists that I have to have a Lock Screen with either a PIN or Password security.
I don't have any lock screen on the tablet & I'd prefer to keep it that way, so has anyone managed to get round this so I can just use my VPN without having to faff around with a lock screen every time I use the GNP?
Thanks

Hi okloub, unfortunately I've had no luck with this too and have just gotten used to the PIN security. If you're willing to try the SQLite method, then you're a braver man than me

Disable locking

Is there a way to keep the phone from not locking the screen and asking for my PIN number?
My employer is forcing me to install a certificate to be able to connect to the exchange server at work. And with this certificate comes a security policy that forces me to use the PIN-code lock. Furthermore the time setting for the lock is hardcoded to be as small as one minute.
This is way to short to be reasonable and I'm about to go nuts from having to enter my PIN-code over and over again.
So, is there an application out there that can solve my problem?
Like a G-sensor app that keeps the device alive as long as I'm having it in my hand and thus moving it?
Or perhaps a tweak or hack that can make me get at least 3 or 5 minutes before the device locks up...
Some advice would be appreciated!
I have the same problem. maybe there is a way to extend the locking time to more than 10 min!?
my company enforces 10 minutes, the problem with that is that even while driving and using tomtom it keeps locking!!!
Would love a work around for this, i dont mind it locking (i'd use this feature anyway), but it's stupid that it still forces a lock while using tomtom, how stupid!
Just in case u didn't find a solution yet. There is a small app that monitors the registry and prevents the locking. U only have to unlock the device like once a day. The name of the app is StayUnlock and u can check it here:

[Q] How to turn my android into a wifi hotspot WITHOUT using 3g/4g?

But instead use USB internet passthrough or the wifi connection on the phone.
I have a nds and a psp that don't have wpa2 encryption on it and I cant connect through wifi anymore at my house. So I'm trying to figure out how I can turn my phone (HTC rezound no root) into a wifi hotspot to bypass the encryption and without using 3g/4g.
A quick google search turned up that one user had success by changing his router security settings from AES to AES-TKIP
I would give you the link, but I am not allowed to do that yet...
Hope it works for you.

Figured it was worth a shot. I hope someone will be able to give you the answer you are looking for.
Only other thing I can think of is to see if there are any firmware updates for the PSP and NDS.
Good luck.

How to setup VPN without setting up a PIN

I created a VPN connection on my S3 but was forced to enter a PIN or a swipe pattern but now I am tired of having to unlock my phone everytime I wanna access it . I have put the auto lock to the max which is 30 mins but I still don't want my phone to be locked.
Is there a way to completely cancel any security / pin / pattern lock while keeping my VPN connection?
anybody home?
As far as I have read, no. There may be someone else to chime in with an app that bypasses it.
I wouldn't recommend it though, as part of the VPN your phone is "directly" connected to the computers and servers of the network you are connecting to. If it is a corporate network and someone who knows what they are doing should happen to find your phone, things could get ugly. The chances of that happening are slim, but enough to warrant the required lock.

[Q] Disable screen lock without loosing WLAN-access

Hey there,
I am searching for an option to disable my screen lock (the password) and still be able to connect to a secured network.
If I want to log in to the wlan in my university it always says I need to secure the phone with a screen lock.
But I hate locking my phone this way. Is there a way to solve this issue?
Or at least to set the time of the activation of the screen lock over 15 minutes?
Thanks in advance..

[Q] Lock screen pin or password, credential storage, VPN

Hi,
I find it annoying having to use a pin or password to unlock my screen if I want/need to use my VPN on my phone.
Is there a way around this? If not, can anyone explain to me the reasoning behind the added security?
I'm running CM10.1, on a d2vzw
Thanks

Do you mean when you want to start the app, or that your vpn shuts down when your screen goes black?

I think he means that in order to add a VPN server (for the first time, at least), you must set some sort of lockscreen security. I am also trying to find a way to do this. I only need to connect occasionally, and I do not save my credentials, so I see no need for the added layer of security. I understand why it's there, but I'd like to be able to bypass it also.
My solution right now is to set up the VPN connection only when I need it and then delete the connection and remove lockscreen security when I'm done. Extremely clunky...
