There seems to be called a process called SPI0 taking up a good percent of my tablets CPU power alot of the time. Using CPU monitor I found it was pretty much using more CPU power than any other process. Anyone have an idea what it is?
Might be a Nvidea Shield Tablet thing, so would be good to know if anyone else has the same thing
same here
I have the same problem maybe someone can help
It means serial peripheral interface

My tab seems to literally only want to do one thing at a time pretty much. For it being a quad core it seems a bit ridiculous for it to freeze up and start throwing the wait or close crap anytime an app or the market is downloading something. Another thing is with the dock, I've noticed it seems that the touch pad is really slow and laggy after waking the tab from sleep. It is fine again after a reboot but once it goes to sleep you wake it up and the problem is back, what's strange is its only slow while on the home screen inside apps it works as normal. Another thing with the dock is it appears that it stops charging the tab after the screen is turned off as in the light on the power button goes out but turns back on and continues to charge if you wake it back up. I do not have it unlocked but it is rooted and EZoverclock is installed running it at 1ghz,1.3ghz and 1.5ghz. Still has the stock rom .29. Also it was doing these things before root and OC. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing these symptoms. Thanks for reading.

I never had these problems... It may be the method you rooted it. Try sparkyroot.. I remeber my motorola defy was completely unusable after rooting with an app.
I find my Desire S better capable of downloading webpages in the background while browsing another than the TF300T does.
My TF300T is still unrooted.
I just believe that the quadcore is not put to good use (read: the software is not optimised for it). It feels almost like that hyperthreading hype from Intel many years ago. That design was a complete bust, but they only would admit that when the real multi core processors arrived.
I have the same problem. Just have to do one thing or it is laggy. Just shame for quade to be that slow! I also dont have root.
Same problem with my TF300T
When I am downloading something in the background and try opening another app or browse something, I end up with the Wait messages and my tab almost freezes. I was really surprised that a quad core tablet has such poor performance.
My Samsung Galaxy S2 does a better job of downloading stuff in the background.

Yeah my GS2 from att screams I love my phone. What's weird is I actually had the prime but had to return it due to too many defects but it never had any problems multitasking at all. You could have ten downloads running while playing a game without any lag it was a huge difference. I guess ASUS like many other companies have just not got the quality products they used too. Its to bad really. These tablets had a lot of potential. Maybe I should have gotten the Toshiba excite with the tegra instead its only $50 difference. Or perhaps this tab will get fixed in the future? Maybe we should bug the hell out of them until they fix it this is such BS to be misled like this. A quadcore should perform as such and be able to "MULTI" task with its "MULTI" Core CPU.

I did use the sparkyroot method and as my op says it has been like this since taken out of the box before it was rooted. I actually rooted it to remove some of the bloatware and OC it to see if it could perform better. My HP Touchpad with Cyanogen performed better than this paper weight.
The reason for the lag when downloading is because the tegra 3 only had single channel memory. This means all the apps being downloaded fill up the channel even though there are 4 cores. Its really a shame cuz the iPad has quad channel memory and most other chips have dual channel memory. Plus having more cores means more memory consumption.

I'm having the same problem. I had 21 apps waiting to be updated and the table was completely useless during this period. My a500 performed much better and I sold it to get this device. Looking for an optimized stock rom, but it looks like I will be returning this to amazon. I expected so much more from the tegra 3. Will wait on a better device.

What are your download speeds?
I connected my tab today to a 25mbs down/up wifi, and I opened MC3 to download the game content. I noticed that I would freeze the download from time to time, sometimes holding there for about 10 secs. I think the main problem here is the speed at which the tablet can write on disk, I have never had any problems with download freezes or lags before on my lousy 3mbs connection at home.
The files were downloading so fast that the tab didn't have time to correctly write them and had to pause the download. This is just a hypothesis, I didn't get the chance to try again. Anyone that has access to a high speed internet connection and a slow speed connection could try this and verify it. Maybe download a torrent and throttle down your down speed to see if you still get the same lags and freezes as you would on your normal speed.
Here's a picture of a cf bench I did on my tab you can see that the write speed is at 511, it seems slow ppl using the prime have reported 800+ speeds
Also check out this post and this other thread
EDIT:
More pics added of bench test using androbench

I use to download youtube videos with Tubemate. When there were multiple downloads, my tab slowed down like anything. I just popped in a 32gb card and chaged the download folder to sd card. Now, with 5 downloads also, no problem with slowing down. The internal memory's RW speed seems to be less i think.
Hi,
I have a problem with my TF700T. For s few seconds after waking my tablet up, image displayed has wired colors. It looks like screen displays less colors and in few seconds it fluently becomes as it should be (pls see attachements).
This only takes place when tablet is in eco mode. In balanced and normal mode everything is OK.
Does anybody have similar effect in eco mode?
I have this too. Not that severe, but i have noticed it.
I think this is due to governor change or something related to cpu clocking. I had this with many custom roms on my phone and i don't think is a hw problem at all. So, no worries.

Thanks for reply. It also came to my mind that probably in eco mode CPU is too weak to handle full HD display.
All in all, such thing should not take place on tablet that is supposed to be one of the best and is one of the most expensive on the market.

Agree.
Looks like last firmware update has solved my problem. Screen works just fine now
Hello
I have a galaxy tab 2 gt p3100. My problem is that sometimes it shuts down itself which is very annoying. Any suggestions?

Are you on stock firmware? using any particular rom? which android version? please provide details about when it shuts down. any particular app or activity? or is it random reboots? using gapps? facebook? or games? give us some hint.
Usually it happens when you overburden the CPU and RAM with things that the device can't handle, like Games with high requirements.
I am on stock firmware. Not rooted. When i take it out from the charging for some moments it stays awake then it vibrates and shutsdown.

i think it would b battry problem
Replace old battry with new one.
It could cost you nearly 2000rs
Greetings,
If it turns Off:
- Try a new Battery
- Check Battery Connector and Related Chip Temperature.
This black square chip should not overheat while the device is not charging. If its unbearable to put your finger in it over 3 or 4 seconds... Assume at hand you may have a faulty device.
Yet only service will confirm such problem.
If the Device Reboots:
- Verify if it is not RAM overload.
My device is Running on Stock Rom, but Rooted so I can be able to manage my RAM, and CPU Clock (and more ofcourse).
If you suspect that is the case, and you are adventurous enough..Root the Device (Please Read about "How to" and "Risks Envolved" if you're not so experienced), and Install: "Memory Manager" from Google Play.
Set it to Optimal or Strict and to Start on Boot.
Memory Issues are most likely gone.
In Both cases there are a few more related issues.
Either Software or Hardware.
If none of the tips I said helped. You need to investigate a little bit more so we can give you further help.
Hopefully you already got this fixed.
Best Regards;
Richard

Hi. I have an S6 flat model and I tried already many times to use it consistently with the new Gear VR from Oculus. I cannot play for more than 10 minutes because I constantly get the overheating message together with a very messy underclock of the processor, making any kind of VR activity impossible. I am prepared to do anything to the phone, but I am not sure what mods could I do to it in order to extend or even fix the VR experience. I tried underclocking few of the processors with the kernel app but it doesn't seem to help much(maybe because I didn't find the sweet spot with the governors and all). I also tried to find mods in Xposed that would send fake temperature data to the app but I don't even know what service is monitoring for the temp, as it could even be an external service sending data to the app itself. I am able to try everything except using fans or other cooling methods, I don't wish to do with any of those. I think there must be a way to mod the phone in order to make this last much longer but I couldn't find it yet.
Any tips and tricks would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am searching for simular. I know there is an aftermarket fan that clips on the phone. I have used an ice pack that I had to hold aginst the phone. (In a ziplock baggie) moisture might be a problem, but overheating was not!

I thought about posting this on the newbie post but since there is more than one question, and some of this isn't really for newbies I thought i'd just make a new thread.
So i've had this phone for a few years now. I'm on Consumer Cellular with a TMobile sim card and it's been working fairly good lately. I am wondering if anyone has had the "automatic disabling 'caller id and spam protection' on reboot" bug fixed by the latest security update for the phone for them? As for me it still does it, so curious to know if it was fixed yet for anyone in the US.
Also lately I have been starting to think about possibly replacing the battery on the phone, I haven't noticed a significant power capacity decrease on the phone yet but since I'm a bit paranoid and never seem to let my phone get to less than 50% before charging it I'm sure if I had a power graph of when I first got the phone vs now it would probably show some kind of capacity loss. I know there are a few good places that can sell you a battery and a toolkit along with a new waterproofing seal and have a step by step video of how to do it and since I do have some electrical troubleshooting background I figure it won't be too difficult. But today I saw some guy inside the back of a galaxy s8 and he was using metal tweezers in there and all my old electronics training was just screaming "NOOOOO" LOL so I'm wondering what anyone who knows more about current electronics with this phone; their opinion of doing this is? Bear in mind he also still had the battery inserted in the phone. LOL.
Also I have a question about the specifications of fast charging vs slow charging are for this phone? I can't seem to find any consistent information about what this phones software considers fast vs slow charging as far as available power, and I've noticed I never seem to see the fast charging notification when I have it hooked up to a USB 3.0 port on my computer; and depending on how you interpret the information I've been able to find about what the available power is for a USB 3.0 port, depending on the item connected to it, it could be anywhere from 300 to 900mA available apparently from what I'm seeing but I may be misinterpreting the information I am seeing. Right now the only judge I have other than seeing the "Fast Charging" indicator is I have Ampere and it says that while hooked up to my USB 3.0 port and with most apps off as in not showing in recent apps in that form of standby mode, I am seeing it at anywhere from 330 to 380mA when I activate the screen until it recalculates and goes back down to about 330mA. Also I do know my MB has at least USB 3.1 firstgen from the MB specs. I'm not sure if it's drivers that limit it above that or if it's the actual chipset itself.
Thanks for any info about these questions.
