[CRITICAL] [Q] Help with Hardbrick! - General Questions and Answers

Ok, so my Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus has stopped completely operating. When you turn it on, it shows the Samsung Trend Plus logo, but before the boot animation, it gets stuck to a black screen (The screen color is black, the screen does not close). Whenever I press any of the phone's buttons, It will vibrates. It does that every 4-5 times and then theres a long vibration. The phone is rooted, but it runs for about 5 months with root. Im using an alcatel less powerfull charger to charge, due to the reason the official samsung one was broken. Yesterday, I mengled around with GravityBox (But I have GravityBox and Xposed framework since root) on the Navbar settings, and after the phone rebooted, It constantly said [SystemUI has stopped]. This had happened to me like a month ago again, but then I just reflashed the Official Rom via Odin. This time, I chose to just delete SystemUi's apk from /system/apps and then copy it back to the phone from my pc. The phone worked perfectly for a day after that, but when I went to take it out of my pocket at the evening, it was closed, even though 1 hour ago it had like 37% battery. So, I charged, and when It finished, I went to open and the Black Screen problem came out. I can't neither boot in recovery nor Download Mode

So, it seems your battery is dead, this is nothing to do with software (unless the stock rom killed it), so, buy a new one, or see if it is covered by the warranty

Reply
Yes, but when I put it in the charger, it shows the charging animation....... And then if the battery is dead, how can it power the vibrations and the screen?

I just tried a different battery, because I have a second Trend Plus, which works perfectly. It still has the same problem.

[Q] Some really weird problem over here.

Once, i was halfway using whatsapp then phone turned off automatically, when I turn it back on i was able to boot up past the bootscreen until i got this: Refer to Picture 003.jpg
Then I did a complete reset via CWM. I even installed CNA 3.6.6 (I was using 3.5.0 before this)
Still no avail, do I've decided to flash back to 4.0.4 to see whether things are working out or not.
I did it via fastboot.
Same thing.
What could be the problem?
Do take note that even though in the picture I'm booting it up in safe mode but still no avail for normal mode.
And, when I'm charging my phone with the power switched off I'm getting this: Refer to Picture 004.jpg
Supposedly it's a battery icon that indicates charging activity but I'm getting a battery icon with (blinking) exclamation mark.
What's wrong?

Gonna try it soon as soon as my friend is with me. Anyways, the picture I've attached shows the shutting down popup.
When it first occured(and for the next few times)it's without the popup and i can't even pull down my notifications window. BUT the 4 buttons worked. they responded by vibrating.

warning! TL; DR post about what happened to my phone.
I've left my phone (accidentally) under heavy rain for almost an hour.
By the time I got my phone back it's still working, but with a (kinda) faulty loudspeaker.
Others went a-okay.
I turned off and let it stay put for everything inside to dry up then charge. Realized that I can't charge at all. I can't even connect to computer or whatnot. So I brought it to a service center. They told me it's mobo issue and I've decided not to fix it (cause my warranty's over)
That day when I brought it back from service center, miraculously I can charge my phone! was happy at first then I kept on charging. Then story continues as first post.
same thing here!

i bought my nexus from a man for 25$ because it wasnt able to charge and when u turned it on it just went stuck on the motion starting picture.
so i went to a technician and he told me to buy the usb port , i found the original port for nexus s on ebay, so he fixed it...
since then i am able to charge it (with a exclamation sign if its off) and i have even intalled every rom i have found here, via odin/fastboot/CWM, etc. but nothing... so it keeps on stucked on the starting picture, sometimes just SOMETIMES it went up like yours, *going up and saying/showing Android System icon, batterymetter on the upper part of the screen, middle screen; saying power off, shutting down, after some secs, vibrates and goes OFF.
only with slimbeam i got that behavior always turn it on.
p.s. the USB port was unable because phone have been wet (from the other owner hands)...

After hard booting the device when it logs on, it was showing 4.1.1. But when i am checking whether any system update is there, it is showing no update. How to get it again ????

[Q] Is my phone bricked?

I have a samsung galaxy S from T-mobile, It became unresponsive and it started for no reason.
It is a locked , never rooted no firmware or software updated ever. Just had some Apps from marketplace though no new apps recently.
this is what happened. I left it for charging and the battery was dry. i gotta a call, so disconnected a/c charging and I could not swipe answer button and the phone kinda went to freeze, then screen went black. I took the phone connected for charging and after some time tried to hit power button , it starts the flash logo and t-mobile logo screen and then to the home screen which was black except for some icons in the top toolbar.
so i started again and went on like 4 times and i gotta screen like ( i think downloading screen ) . thats it . THe phone never charged or started again, I tried 3 button combos and all the basic recovery steps for this and not worked. I have been hunting for answer last couple of days before deciding to write my own thread. I am now convinced my phone is fully bricked , what should i do now?
So you think your bricked... Well good thing is your not bricked.
The information you gave us is not very clear.
I would take a guess and I would say its the battery. Replace the battery with a new one.

Damn phone stuck in bootloop!

Came home from work yesterday and the Pure XL was dead, said it needed to be charged. Never happened before but I figured whatever and plugged it in and went to sleep. Woke up this morning and powered on the phone and the all white BLU splash screen came up and then the phone went off. Came on again and the all white BLU splash screen came up and went off. Ive tried holding down the power button for over a minute. Tried holding the power button and volume keys to boot into recovery from 10 seconds to 2 minutes, nothing stops it! It just keeps rebooting. This has been my apprehension towards purchasing phones with non removable batteries. The boot recycle happens about every 15 seconds and the phone vibrates everytime it boots up for the past 2 hours. Its getting very annoying and there is no way to make it stop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Plug it into your computer (you'll notice that there will be a longer black screen in-between the bootloops) and hold down the power button for at least 10 seconds or more, then release it after the next vibration and the white BLU screen shows up. It might take a couple of tries.
If you manage to boot into at least recovery but can't boot into the system, then try clearing your cache/dalvik cache and try rebooting into system again.
If all of the above doesn't work for you, then your boot.img/system has gone bad, and you'll have to flash the stock images with SP Flash Tool (both of which can be found on other posts on this forum).
follow the instructions on the SP flash tool thread... sounds like what happened to me after bad flash... theres a lot of information in that thread that will set you up...
Thanks for the quick replies guys. The PC trick didnt work at all. I just called BLU and asked for a replacement(havent heard back from them ironically). I put the phone in the basement so I wouldnt have to deal with that incessant buzzing every 15 seconds. Eventually the battery died. Since I had it powered off finally, I plugged it in for about 10 minutes to give it enough of a charge to power on but not stay on to buzz for another 2 hours. This time I powered it on using the master reset button combo and was finally able to wipe the cache and restart the phone. Took a good 4 or 5 minutes to boot after that, but everything has been fine since. Really dont know what initially caused the issue, never happened before. Good thing too, cause BLU told me that they would send me a RMA within the hour and I still havent heard from them. Think this will be my last BLU phone. Thanks for the assist.
My phone Is stocked without root or Twrp. And I find my self having a bootloop once a month for an odd reason. This forces me to take bat out and put it back in or just let it loop til battery dies

My phone is basically out of the box and I'm getting boot loop problems when I first boot. This happens like once a month
Sent from my PURE XL using XDA-Developers mobile app
This happened to me for first time yesterday. Bought the phone earlier this year and everything worked fine. I restarted the phone because my sound recorder app froze up twice on open and the infinite boot started until the battery died. Tried the {power}{vol up} thing, didn't work to stop it, so I put it in my car and went back to the conference I was attending. Battery was dead when I got out. Contacted BLU by phone and they started a ticket for me, but I figured I'd see if other people were having this issue and learn what they did because I'd rather not be out of a phone for however long it takes for BLU to replace mine. Stumbled on this page. I never rooted my phone. And BLU only sent one wireless update since I've had the phone. I'm trying to get into the menu by connecting to the computer. Worked the first time, I cleared cache, and tried to backup my files, but I'd taken out the SD card in expectation of sending it to BLU. So, Powered off the phone, put the card back in, and now I haven't been able to get the menu back. Still working on it, if there are any suggestions anyone drops on me before Tuesday when I'll likely ship it (or at least hope to because I'll be yelling at them Monday), I'd appreciate it.

I tried to flash the phone, but the bootloop apparently wouldn't allow that. I had 0.0% progress after 3 hours. I then tried to go back into the menu you get from {Power}{Vol UP}: still no go. So, I started to take the phone apart again to get ready for shipping. The battery was still low so it didn't take long for it to die after I unplugged it from the computer. Out of curiosity, I tried to repeat finding the menu like I did earlier that day (conditions were that the phone had no charge when I connected it to the computer, and my SD card was removed.) No go. But, then I hit {Power}{Vol Up}{Vol Down} just to see what happened, and boom. My phone loaded up. No loop... Figured somehow the files had copied and the status bar was wrong. Turned the phone off, put my SD card back in and turned the phone on. Loop reappears ...I waited for the phone to die again, took out the SD, attempted to turn it on and the loop was there. Connected it to the computer and hit all 3 buttons, and the phone loads up. So, now I'm confused. Is there any way that the problem is some crappy connection to the SD?

S7 Black Screen + Blue LED

Hi All,
I wonder if you may be able to help. This morning we discovered one of our S7 phones was a black screen with solid blue light. It seemed completely unresponsive to touch, wouldn't wake. etc. The home, volume and power buttons seemed to do nothing. I plugged the phone into the computer, it didn't pick up a USB device.
Phone is stock from EE in the UK. No custom anything. Model: SM-930F 32GB.
EE and Samsung couldn't suggest anything to help.
We tried Power + Volume Down - This results in one of the following;
A (A battery with the current fill %) this happens when plugged in
B (Samsung Galaxy S7 powered by android) loading screen which then cycles or returns to a black screen with solid blue LED
We also tried Power + Volume Down + Home button. This does load the Warning screen about using a custom OS.
We have next day replacement warranty on the phone, i don't need to fix this phone. We only want to try and recovered some data and photos
Any help appreciated.
Kind Regards.

Hi, try turning off the App Power saving mode!! i had these problems also and it was caused by a app that cant handle the always on setting so when you use that app and then turn the phone in standby it will cause the freeze/black screen
Were you ever able to fix this problem? I just had it happen to me and I'm in the same situation.
This just happened to me. After an hour spent with tier II tech support, no progress.
You need to let the phone die completely. Once it's dead (and the blue light) is no longer dead, plug the phone into an OEM walk charger. In my situation,my s7 edge would vibrate to recognize the charge, than reset - before it could even build up a charge (so I thought). I left it alone for an hour or so, and amazingly, it booted up like normal.
Good luck!
I have this problem. How long will it take the battery to drain from fully charged with just the blue light on.
This just happened to me as well. I hope draining the battery works. This occurred when my battery drained and the phone turned off. When I tried to turn it back on after letting it charge for a few minutes it looked like it started to boot, then went to a black screen with a solid blue light. No button combination has any effect.
EDIT: Waiting until the battery died and then attempting to charge the phone has had no effect. No combination of keys has an any effect, either.
EDIT #2: I've taken my phone into the Verizon store. They tell me it's an issue with software and the phone is dead. They said this is "rare". Considering what I see here, I can't say how rare I find it. I have insurance, so they're replacing it, but now they're not keeping up their end of the deal on when the replacement phone will be delivered.
Flash it!
I had the exact same symptoms. What did the trick for me was draining out the battery and then fully charging it, WITHOUT TURNING ON the phone. If you do turn it on, you need to drain it out again. When the phone was fully charged I booted up the download mode and flashed the stock firmware with Odin. That was it, my Galaxy S7 was fully functioning again.
Hope this helps someone out there.
Just experienced kinda the same problem.
S7 died overnight on the charger. I was lucky to wake up on my own.
Just blue led.
I let it drain out over the day so it turned off (vol- + power no working).
Charged it a bit and try to go to recovery: loaded recovery but completely frozen.
I let it drain again and recharged it after it turned off.
Then I went to DL mode and reflashed latest carrier stock rom. AP. CP. BL. CSC. All.
Flashed fine! After rebooting it said "erasing...", rebooted and is back to the blue led only.
Strongly suggesting a hw issue at this point.
I'll let it drain again, fully recharge it, flash a non branded stock rom. If that wont work i'll probably need to bring it to my carrier on monday. Too bad its friday...
//Phone is r.i.p. even after a re flash of stock fw with full battery it only boots to blue led.
//Phone even deader. No more response in any way.
(some time later)
//Just received the repair report. The mainboard and some minor components were replaced under warranty even though my phone was rooted. Good thing for me it never turned on again.

Black Screen (BSOD) on Marshmallow

I know some people had the same problem with Lollipop but I hadn't any issues. Already updated to latest marshmallow. I dropped my devices a few months ago and the frame took a heavy blow from that. But the screen was working without a problem and had no damage at all. A few days ago I used my phone and took put it on the desk and connected the charger. An hour later I wanted to unlock the S6 and only the lower keys lit up.
Searched a bit and used volume down + power to restart the phone. It worked again and I immediately made a backup (used the Dev options to keep the phone on while charging).
Samsung Store denied to do anything. First they said they might reinstall the whole software by some hardware (as expensive as a two family house ) but the technican said no because they don't know if that reallyhelps or might break the phone :silly:
I tried to reinstall via Samsung switch and odin but the still the screen won't wake up after going to sleep. Sometimes it works a few times but most of the times one time.
Anyone can help me, or is my phone simply broken? :crying:
Have you tried factory reset?
Factory reset via settings menu and recovery. And reinstalled via Samsung switch and odin. Still same problem.
If the screen doesn't turn ON after it turns OFF then it could be bug of some sort . Try downgrading to the build right before the one you updated. There's a few MM builds for the S6. Say you on the latest. Downgrade to the one before that and see

Downgraded to previous version and now the display won't turn on at all. Reverted back to newest version, and stays black. Look like now I finally broke it
I used it yesterday for about an hour with the screen always on and it just worked. The screen still recognizes touch input and the pc shows me the phone has started.

Really whoa. OK take your S6 to a technician and ask them to check if the LCD cable is connected properly. That thing can come out easily
Just tried to restart the phone with volume down and power button and it suddenly showed the samsung boot logo. It was kinda dimmed and not the bright white it used to be but when the it finally booted up everything was fine.
Only way is a technican as you said. Sad is Samsung is not going to do that on guaranty because of the damage on the frame
