Hi! I have a Samsung S2 Plus (i9105p) with 4.2.2 Stock Rom. I've flashed this package throught CWM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...heme-wizzedtheme-v2-0-special-i9105p-t2854609) then, after boot i see that my Settings app disappeared! I don't know how bring them back! And it's annoying if i need to wipe my data. Can someone give me the apks i need to restore my settings app? And why them disappeared? I really need it! I have 4.2.2 Jelly Bean!

Sometimes packages like that have been known to remove the Settings app. The only way to fix it (except factory resetting) is to flash a custom ROM, like CyanogenMod.
Wich CM can i install? Because the lastntime i've tryed it (7-8 months ago) it was really bad and buggy. Honestly i prefer the Samsung ROM.
However, can i install a new settings app? Or flash it. I need the secsettings.apk from the 4.2.2 JB Rom for i9105p. Or the only way is wipe data/factory reset? (It will wipe data and i'm scared that i can't have my settings back this way).

Well, if I had that device, you can be sure that I'd provide you with that settings app.
However, since I don't have it, I don't know of any way to obtain that app.
By any chance did you make any sort of backup any time before this issue occurred? If so, please post it for me, as I might be able to extract the app out of that.

Hey guys,
This is my very first post, just to let you all know, so please have some patience! Thanks!
Anyway, so I have a Nexus S 3G (Canada) and I have rooted it, unrooted it, installed roms and everything. I works...for the most part. It's giving me all sorts of different little errors and what not. So I was wondering, how can I COMPLETLY start ALL OVER, as in, factory new, like when you buy a new phone (without the carrier stuff). I wanted to start fresh, fresh out-of-the-oven kind of start, do you understand what I mean? FACTORY FRESH. Thank you all so much in advance!
well download your phone's stock rom and of course unroot it.Regarding the stock bloatware you can modify the custom rom by going in system/app and deleting the apps you dont want to be installed

Thanks for the reply, I've already done that, and I'm still getting errors and other weird things, like not going out of airplane mode, failing to download the OTA 2.3.6 Update (I'm on stock 2.3.1 unrooted, I think), and I don't know if this is normal, but ClockworkMod Recovery is still there. Am I still rooted or something? Plus, when I try to flash a restore, from let's say Gingerbread 2.3.6 Stock, it says MD5 mismatch! How about if it's an ICS AOSP Build, it gives me the normal white Google logo like normal, but then just stays stuck there.
Is the anyway to erase EVERYTHING and start over like NOTHING was ever done to the device? Like when they are first distributing the the device and no one has ever touched it? Is there anyway to do just that?
There is a difference between being "rooted" and using a rooted ROM. You could be using a non-rooted ROM, and your phone can still be "rooted". The first step in rooting a phone is changing SECURITY-ON to SECURITY-OFF. If you REALLY want to go back to when you first got the device, you will need to find a way to turn SECURITY from OFF to ON. When it is off, you are able to access the bootloader, in turn allowing you to install a recovery to install a ROM with rooted permissions. I think the best way to go back to stock would be for you to first download the latest OTA update for your device, do a FULL WIPE of everything on your phone thru recovery (data, system, cache, dalvik cache). Then installing the latest OTA. I do not think however, that this is how you turn your device S-ON.
I hope I've been of some help.

Thanks for your excellent reply, but I have also already done that, EXACTLY that, multiple times too. Dalvik, battery stats, factory reset/delete all user data, wipe cache partition and fix permissions. What else is there left to do?
Thank you all so very much!!!!

I got my Note 10.1 a few months back. Now I have got a lot of apps that I love and don't want to lose.
I am using a custom European ROM made by zedomax "HighonAndroid".
I've decided 2 days ago that I want to update my note to jelly bean.
My question is: How can I back up all my applications before wipe/data reset?
I really don't want to lose the apps nor the root.
Can anyone help me?

titanium backup, buy it. you'll use it all the time
You can make a flashable zip of your stuff. If you do this, I have only had good resaults of flashing it after rebooting into the new rom and then flash the update zip. also would be good if you went ahead and did the thing in your securty setting to allow the non play store apps, especially if you have them.
This usually does a great job of doing the data part of the apps like logins and stuff. sometimes mine dont work right at first but it still saves a lot of time
If the rom you are going to doesnt have root built into it, which I think all here do, then getting root back isnt hard and there is this voodoo root keeper app as well somewhere maybe on the market. but rerooting isnt that big of a deal and shouldnt be nesesary

Ty very informative, but I don't think the root will be installed because im going for stock JB.
Only question is can I flash in germany's ROM when I'm on European now?
Yep, ODIN or mobile ODIN will do it... You would benefit from backing up internal sd card - connect to pc and copy contents of phone/internal.... This means if it does an entire wipe you don't loose all your game saves etc.... Not likely to but the chance is always there, especially if you use mobile ODIN and tick "clear cache/data"...
Though I am curious why you don't flash the stock UK JB rom in developement as all are the same, just csc is different...

I have up and I believe darkman_rs does as well, stock versions of the jelly bean set up to run on an 8013. Mine is for the uk and I think darkman has the nordik. Either will work. I am in the U.S. and use the uk version with no issues. The csc is consumer region stuff, both of these roms have that stuff taken care of so they will not have an issue in any region.
So if you are on a custom rom and want to go to a complete stock, then go to sammobile, firmware, download one from there and flash through odin, then reroot
Or you can grab another stock, or custom rom from here set to flash through cwm and go that route
Stock, rooted UK rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2027604
Thanks to Smaw51....
CWM for this, don't need to muck about with ODIN...

If you are coming from ICS then yes, a complete wipe of everything is reconremended. If you do not do a full wipe and get FC, then you need to do a full wipe
Hi all - This is my first post and I am sorry if I'm breaking a rule. I have tried searching for a resolution to this issue before joining up but could not find anything specific to my phone, rom, issue.
Background:
I rooted my phone a while back but for some reason never flashed to a custom rom, just wanted the root. Last week I flashed after some trial/error to AOKP. I cleared the data/cache and did a fresh install of AOKP 4.2.2 with the 2013-03 package of GAPPS. I installed my Titanium Backup'd apps overtop via the app, not an update.zip.
Situation:
My voicemail notification is not going away after I get a voicemail. I will get the notification (sometimes quicker than other times) but after I call my voicemail, listen to the message and delete it the notification does not go away. I have to go into the Phone app-info and force stop/clear data for the notification to go away.
Phone details:
Sprint Samsung Nexus S 4G
AOKP 4.2.2 (goo.im-devs-qnhoang81-crespo4g - aokp_crespo4g_unofficial_2013-05-25.zip)
GApps gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
No custom voicemail program - typical Sprint voicemail setup.
If no one is aware of a good resolution with my specific setup, I would also appreciate suggestions of ROMs w/ latest Android that fellow Sprint customers arent having this issue with on the Nexus S 4G.
Thank you very much and I appreciate your patience if I did something wrong with this thread.
I've had this happen with slimrom. I either did a funky flash or found some other way of mucking up my install.
I eventually just did a full wipe and have been fine ever since.

+1 to doing a full wipe (then adding) re-install...
If a full wipe and re-install doesn't fix your issue with the rom ( as I can't speak for app behavior ) flash back to stock and start over, remembering to always back up your data first..
Thanks guys, thinking back I went from stock 4.1.1 to AOKP 4.2.1 then to AOKP 4.2.2. I thought I did clean installs both times. Is it possible that something with my Backup apps is causing the issue? Like if I'm restoring phone settings from a previous version to the new version?
If that didn't fix it.... go into settings/ Apps scroll along the top until you see ALL apps and scroll down to phone...clear data...
Would there be any harm if I dirty flashed albinoman's 4.3.1 ROM over his 4.2.2 ROM? I don't wanna lose all the data but do an upgrade, or would it not work? I'm aware that dirty flashing does cause issues sometimes, but not always. Seems to work fine, so far.
Also, say android1-7 fixes current bugs in his 4.4.1 ROM and I want to switch - is there any way to transfer my data? Titanium Backup comes to mind, but not sure if that'd cause problems; JB -> KitKat.
Thanks in advance.
Please Backup before doing anything.
If u want tro try a dirty flash, u got to Wipe system and cache, then flash ROM... Maybe it will cause FC...
you will tell us .
Its better to try backing up ROM on recovery, then backing up datas with Titanium Backup, Wipe All partitions then Flash new ROm and u will install back your datas from titanium
I always do backups. I'm on specific app data if I wanted to go from JB to KK, would it still work via Titanium Backup? (some will know; if they are on 4.4.x ROM already)
Also, how do I change the dimensions of the drawer? It's 4x5 right now, and I'd want it preferably 4x4 instead, or even 3x4. I can't find it in the Drawer settings. (albino's 4.3.1 ROM).

Yes titanium backup will work in any Roms u have I use it all the time to flash back my apps back easily
And for the app drawer I haven't used albino ROM ,but think u need a custom launcher like KitKat launcher ,nova etc to get that option

Awww, snap. Quite a pity - I liked Sense ROM having two options for the app drawer. I'll get used to it then.
So Titanium works with any ROM, great. That solves it then! Thanks for the help.
Hello guys,
I wanted to update the custom rom XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition on my Galaxy S6 from Version 2.2. to 2.3 but I do not want to set up my phone again, as I did that some weeks ago. So my question is now what exactly does the Data/Factory Reset do? Is all data being deleted? Do I have to install all apps again? And is it necessary, cannot the old version be overwritten?
Regards
Haris

Did this a few days ago.
All apps/settings etc. get wiped, everything except your photos and .mp3s, in fact.
You will have to set it up again, but it's not that much work, i think.
All your apps you can reinstall in one load thru the Play store, as it remembers your downloads and purchases,
export your contacts as a .vcf file and restore them with a few clicks later.
Dirty flashing may be possible, but since the developer himself recommends a swipe/reset, i'd stick with this.
Thanks for your reply. I think I will try the Titanium Backup app. This should solve my problem, if a wipe is necessary.
I successfully installed the newer version 2.3. and restored the phone with Titanium Backup Pro. Everything has been restored fine except the Alliance framework app. I cannot find it. Isnt it force installed by Aroma?
Also, when I put in my headset the app bar which offers you apps for headset use does not show up. Although I activated it in Aroma Add-On. I also wanted to ask if it is possible to have the album cover as wallpaper lockscreen when listening to music and to have the music widget on the lockscreen?
I hope it is ok to use my thread for this questions, as I cannot ask directly in the custom roms thread, due to missing rights.
