How to root samgsung homesync gt-b9150 - Miscellaneous Android Development

Hi, first of all this is my first contribution to the forum. I've been using the resources until now but i wanted to contribute with something. This is not my development, and only gathered the information and put it here, so thanks to all the guys who help me in the first place.
I bought the Homesync waiting more from the device, and i now the device has so much potential but has been wasted for samgsung, they havent give a real update to the device and they left it at Android 4.2.2, with little support to apps in the store, with no suppor for multiwindow, and other things they could make for this device to success. Well, what we can do i to root it so we can gain access to other apps, and apps from independent markets or developers.
Requeriments:
1) Set your devide to a MJ3 ROM, either updating it or downgrading it from a stock ROM. You can get it from sammobile here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=24442. I had to use Odin to downgrade to Stock Rom MJ3. If you dont know how to use Odin, in the same link you can read how to do it. Why MJ3? Because that ROM is working with root process im doing here.
2) After with the MJ3 ROM up and running. From your PC, do the following: download the superuser folder from the attachment below.
3) This part is thanks to the user K1MU, you can see his work here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758 ,before you try using this rooting program, you'll need to have the USB drivers installed for the homesync. Download here if you cant see your homesync when connected to the microUSB port.
http://developer.samsung.com/android/tools-sdks/Samsung-Android-USB-Driver-for-Windows;jsessionid=1cG8Jw2NLJgzwXpG3RhBjQ5tQLGMQTVw2xwJxQld0yyKlG6psQ1W!-2096422745
4) The next thing you must do is to enable USB debugging on your phone. Go to "Settings", "More...", then "Developer Options".
If "Developer Options" doesn't appear, then you'll need to enable it - go to "Settings", "More", "About Phone". Scroll down so the "Build Number" is visible, then tap on that several times until developer mode is enabled. In Developer Options, make sure "USB Debugging" is checkmarked.
5) Make sure that your computer is allowed to use USB debugging on your homesync. To do this, unplug your phone and unlock it. Then, plug in the USB cable. If you see an "Alllow USB debugging?" window pop up, tap on the "Always allow from this computer" to check it, then tap OK. If you don't see that popup, it's OK, you should be OK to proceed. This is going to appear in the Homesync.
6) Then you need to unpack the attached ZIP file somewhere onto your PC. You should have the following when done:
- a file called "install.bat"
- a file called "install.sh"
- a folder called "files"
7) Double click on the "install.bat" to run the root. It will root and reboot your phone. Once that's done, you're rooted!
The first thing that the install script will ask you is whether or not to install Busybox. Busybox is a program that provides a fairly extensive set of Linux shell utilities that a Unix user would expect to see. If you're not going to be using the shell (terminal emulator or adb shell) then you may not want to install Busybox. You may, however, find that some root-required utilities assume that Busybox is installed. If SuperSU asks you to update the su binary, choose the "Normal" method. If SuperSU asks you about disabling Knox, allow it. This exploit will NOT set the Knox Warranty Void flag. It will set the "Custom" flag, but that's nothing to worry about. While you're running this, you'll need to keep the phone awake and watch both the computer running the rooting script and your phone. You shouldn't unplug the phone unless you're prompted by the rooting script. Leave it connected until it's done.
8) In this point you will be rooted and ready to boom your Homesync.
I think i will be expanding this post, but for now this is it. Everything works fine with the phone using the homesync app.

I give up. Click on the recovery howto in my signature and flash custom recovery. After that, flash a rooted ROM. If you dislike this advice, then kindly search harder. People generally get irritated when then are answering the same questions 10 times a day because people are too lazy.
superoneclick (gingerbreak exploit) work for me on stock V20c, check this thread:

Hi guys, regarding the problem about rooting the original GB, it can be done, and it's not that complicated.
First of all there are a couple of things that you have to consider before starting to root.
1. Be sure that you have installed the original V20G GB ROM.
2. if you have it installed and tried different methods to root on it do a factory reset before trying this one.
3. Be absolutely sure that you have all the drives installed when working with the phone in USB debugging mode, if not install them.
4. Download SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse, after download extract the files into a folder with the same name as the archive.
5. After you extracted the files, go to C:\Windows\System32 and copy the cmd.exe to the folder where you extracted the files, in my case C:\Users\myuser\Desktop\SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse\ADB.
6. Connect the phone to the PC with Debugging mode (Enter the phone settings menu, to the Development and tick the USB debugging mode)
7. right click on cmd.exe from the ADB folder, Run as administrator, than write:
adb devices (after this command you should see your device id)
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf,
Do not close the window, live it like that.
8. Start SuperOneClick.exe, leave the settings to the SuperOneClick as they are when it opens, click on ROOT and wait, it will say Starting ADB server..., than it will do it's job and than it will appear Waiting for device... it will say ok and that if it freezes while running psneuter do the following:
a. Turn USB Debugging OFF wait until it will appear in the window again Starting ADB server..., after that,
b. Turn USB Debugging ON, and after this trick it will start rooting.
This is the method that i did twice and it worked like a charm.
After this it will ask you to reboot the phone, DO NOT FORGET, and after the reboot click on the SuperUser icon in the phone's menu. it will aks you if you allow or deny it's access. click allow. After this you must connect to the internet via Wireless or a apn, click on the superuser icon again if you exit it, go to settings, scroll down and you will see Su Binary v.XXXX, click on that to update it, than go to market and search the super user app and update it. Also update busybox. After this you have root access and you can install a custom recovery. Also you can install your preferred Kernel if you don't like the stock one.
If you do not get the Allow Deny message the root was not completed successfully. do a factory reset and try again the same steps.
see images attached as proof.
Well, I installed V20 C via doktornotor method but couldn root it by flashing the signed su binary via recovery.
So I tried the above mentioned method and it worked. But every time the Superuser Force closes and its too buggy.. Any solutions. ?
Yes, same here, i tried doktornotor's method both 20C and 20G and didnt work, this Super1click works but su force closes everytime Any ideeas??
====================EDIT============================
I managed to root gingerbread with doktornotor's method V20g
Just use his image, BUT dont use su-2.3.6.3-cd-signed.zip
Download from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110733 su-2.3.6.2-efgh-signed.zip and install it wia clockworkmod recovery zip installer and works like a charm

Should I type the comma at the end on cmd? Can you please explain what exactly the above command does? Does it create the above file on the above filepath on device? If I typed both
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
and
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf,
should I erase one of these files?
Without comma.

Rooting Stock 2.2 Guide

I just got my hand on a Captivate and decided to root it. Decided to do this write up since the steps are still fresh in my head. Plus, I can resort to this post should I need to root again sometime in the future, hopefully I won't have too. After several hours of searching and reading XDA, here are the steps I took:
WARNING: I can't guarantee this will work for everyone, but this process works for my AT&T Samsung Captivate running Stock Android Froyo 2.2. All the files are linked from various sources and are works of super smart people, at least smarter than I am.
1. Go into the Captivate's Settings > Applications > Development. Check mark "USB Debugging."
2. Download .NET 4 from HERE and install it. Download the Samsung Driver, choose 32bit or 64bit depending on your OS. Unzip the file, run Setup.exe to install the driver. Connect your phone via USB cable to your PC. This should allow your PC to "talk" to your phone.
3. Download THIS 3e Fixer. Turn off your Anti-Virus if you have any. Unzip the file and the run "install.bat" inside. Press any key to run it. After it's done, select "2" to reboot the phone. This will prevent an error from occurring during the rooting process in the next step.
4. Download the OneClickRoot. Unzip it and right click on the file "Galaxy_One-Click_Root.exe" and select "Run As Administrator". Select "One-Click Root". It will reboot the phone. Once it loads to a menu screen, click volume down and select "Reinstall Packages", then press the Power button. It should root the phone and then reboot.
5. Download OCD. Unzip it and run "OneClickDe-cripple.exe", click on "De-Cripple" and the press any key to run it. It will reboot the device when done. This will allow you to install apps or sideload apps from unknown sources.
That is it. Your captivate should be rooted and sideloading apps should work also.
or you could forego all that and just use SuperOneClick to root and enable sideloading.

Rooting the rko3066/rockchip 3066 device

I'm a newbie to Android, but I fumbled around with a rooting tool and found a method that works to root two flavours of rko3066, rockchip 3066 devices. As it only roots the device, I see no reason why it should not root any android device, as long as the correct device drivers are used.

Rooting u30gt-h
On tablet
1.In U30gt-h Settings->Display open sleep setting.
2.Set sleep to at least ten minutes.
3.In U30gt-h Settings->storage->click on Three dots in upper
right of Settings window title field
4 Select USB computer connection Dropdown menu .
5. Select "Mass Storage" check box
6. <-- backout of storage settings
7. Browse down in Settings and select Security
8.In Security Settings, Select Unknown sources, to give the
Android device permission to install software from sources
not specifically sanctioned by Google and the Android
Consortium. This ensures that the Root utility,
Tp-Sparky-Root.bat will have the necessary access rights to
root the u30gt. If you have any qualms about unsanctioned
files on your tablet or device, you will want to uncheck
this selection after the rooting process is complete.
Whether any of the rooted utilities and programs you will
want to use are sanctioned, is anybody's guess. As always,
be careful when Dling or intalling Any software. I trust
everyone has and uses anti-virus software on all your
devices.
8.scroll down in settings and select {} Developer
Options, if not there, go to (i)about tablet and touch and
hold the Build field and it will bring up developer Options
in the left hand main menu.
9. In Developer Options, select USB debugging.
10. Close settings, and any other open apps.
11. Goto U30gt main android desktop, to ensure good clean
reboots.
12. Using a Known good micro USB to std USB cable,
connect U30gt tablet to PC, you'll get a "connecting to usb"
in notifications area in Android, and a usb icon in the
notification area. You Do Not want to select "Connect to Pc
to Transfer Files", in the notification menu, just plug in the
cable and let it be.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
On PC
1. Search in a web browser for RKBatchTool_u30.zip, the 1.5
version, DL and unzip in the default zip file subdirs.
Rk-batch-tool 1.5 has u30gt drivers, browse the Rk-batch
tool's dir for the u30 drivers for your PC OS. Right click
on the rockusb.inf and chose Install, to install the driver.
2. Verify that you have a rockchip_usb USB Device under disk
drives in Device Manager. Control Panel->System->Hardware->
Device Manager->Disk Drives->rockchip_usb USB Device.
3. Dl TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.rar from
*"mediafire.com/?vd3y1rld2amdxq5"*
as a newbie I cannot post links, so search mediafire.com for TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.rar
4. Unarchive TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.rar, using an archive, or
zip utility: Winzip, alzip, etc. It may require the password
"geekbuying.com" to unrar the archive.
5. Mouse into TPSarky-VonDroid-Root directory created by the
rar file, until you get to TPsparkyRoot.bat and adb.exe
files, a couple of sudirs inside TpSarky unzipped file
directories.
6. Run, double click on, adb.exe first. It opens up a dos
command window, runs a dos executable that launches adb
server and connects to the U30gt. It opens and closes so
fast you won't hardly see it. If you Do Not run adb.exe.
first, Tp-Sparky-Root.bat will not communicate with the
U30gt, and your root will fail.
7. Now run, double click on, Tp-Sparky-Root.bat
Tp-Sparky-Root.bat will Immediately reboot the u30gt.
8. When the u30gt reboots, hit space key as instructed.
Tp-Sparky-Root.bat will reboot the u30gt, again.
9. Press the space key as instructed, again. The command line
will show
uid=0<root> gid=0<root>
if you have a successful root.
10. Press the space key as instructed, again.
The command informs you the U30gt root has been remounted,
there are a couple of errors relating to SuperSU, I presume
SuperSu was Not included in the tpsarky zip file, or is in
the wrong place for the batch file to find it, but you can
DL SuperSU from GooglePlayStore, nhnf. The Utility notifies
you that Tp-Sparky-Root.bat is completing the root.
11. The u30gt will reboot one last time.
12. DL Titanium Backup Root, Rootchecker, or Avast Android to the tablet,
and they will confirm a rooted tablet.
**As this method only Roots the device, and since it worked
on both my u30gt and an Imito-Mx1 mini android, I think it
should work on nearly any RKO3066 droid device.

Thanks to the people who initially posted the original root
routine for the IMITO-MX1 on Youtube, and to geekbuying for
this procedure, as well as the files for rooting the IMITO-
MX1 and ultimately the u30gt. A big thanks to Tp-Sarky or
Tp-Sparky, whoever they may be, for writing the batch file
that does all the work. I also want to thank 900Supersport,
kastycube and the good folks at alldocube for their various
flavours of the u30gt firmware and utilities, as well as
flashmyandroid.com
I have tried all flavours of android 4.1 firmware, 900
supersport, kastycube, to the generic cube-tablet.com
versions from 1.07 to the latest greatest build 1.11, and
None of them gives me access to the microsd card. I bought
two of these puppies for Christmas, IPS version, and neither
the original out of the box or my reconfigured one reads
microsd. It is possible that both got bad sd card readers,
but unlikely. As my imito-mx1 miniandroid reads the microsd
cards, as does the adapter in my pc, it is most probably an
U30gt flavour android system software issue. Anybody got any
clues how to resolve microsd issues in android?
works great

versions from 1.07 to the latest greatest build 1.11, and
None of them gives me access to the microsd card. I bought
two of these puppies for Christmas, IPS version, and neither
the original out of the box or my reconfigured one reads
microsd. It is possible that both got bad sd card readers,
but unlikely. As my imito-mx1 miniandroid reads the microsd
cards, as does the adapter in my pc, it is most probably an
U30gt flavour android system software issue. Anybody got any
clues how to resolve microsd issues in android?

Yep, but for security reasons it's better to install some su governor, because now every app can have root access without your permission.

Check this for simple 4 steps root for this device. Easy and without any risks and even with an unroot tool.

Search in a web browser for RKBatchTool_u30.zip, the 1.5
version, DL and unzip in the default zip file subdirs.
Rk-batch-tool 1.5 has u30gt drivers, browse the Rk-batch

Working on iRulu AX105
Thank you, working on iRulu AX105 Tablet, 10.1"
Permission denied
As ichiyamato said, this method not working for sk3066 device. Scrips are not working because there are no permission to copy necessary files into device.
All scripts gave,
Code:
*---* VonDroid.com N101 II Root Tool based on work by sunnydavid *---*
--- Plug in your device, make sure debugging is enabled in Developer Options
--- This script will now copy files over to your N101 II
failed on '/data/local/tmp' - Permission denied
link failed File exists
I think we should open write permission on device. But i dont know how.
Thanks.
Work on Touchmate TM-MID940
I have successfully root my Touchmate TM-MID940 with TPSarky Android rooting method
Thanks
Confirmed working on an Energy System i8 tablet.
The micro SD card on my device does not stay in properly, so this method was needed.
I had to manually fiddle with adb a little (I had been trying other methods to root), so personally I would change the instructions to explain how to open a command prompt and execute:
adb kill-server
adb start-server
(Check it says starting server)
adb get-state
(check it says device)
then run the batch file

Android GA10H Tablet Root

[Disclaimer ] I take no responsibility for anything that happens to your device. Do this at your own risk. It worked for me but it may not work for you. This voids all warranty!!!!]
Here i am going to tell you how to root a generic android tablet i know it works for the GA10H but it may work for others.
First you need to download Kingo Root.
When thats downloaded install it and open it.
Next you need to enable usb debugging. Go to about device in the bottom of the settings. Find Build number and tap it 7 times.
Then go back and there should now be an option for developer options, click it and scroll down to USB debugging and tick the box.
Now on your pc you should a blue screen with a white circle. it will detect your device and install the correct drivers for it.
When thats done click root or it might say root again.
Leave that to root your device then when its done reboot.
After you have rebooted download root checker to see if you are rooted and super su to control all of your root permissions.

Rooting an LG V20 H910 (AT&T), and Doing Fun Things with it

I recently purchased an LG V20 H910, and, being a nerd/geek, I immediately wanted to root it. I was looking at Kali Linux Nethunter, and I wanted to install that on my device. I purchased the phone from eBay, and the seller said that it would be US unlocked. I was disappointed to find that it was an H910. H910s do not support Nethunter.
In case you don't know, Kali Linux Nethunter is like a mini, mobile-sized version of kali linux. You can run cSploit, Metasploit, linux terminal programs, and you still get the android stuff. It's made for penetration testing.
I was successful in installing Nethunter, and I wanted to share the experience and write a guide.
Ok. First, a small disclaimer:
None of these things should brick your phone. If it does, I should not be responsible. The main part that could brick your phone is the rooting section, and I'm just going to give you a link to a better guide. Most of the content here is about what to do once your phone is rooted. In short, I am not responsible for any "brickage" that may occur.
First, you'll need to root your phone. This is the scary part.
Follow this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/root-h910-v10m-t3664500
It's a pretty amazing guide.
Install superSU:
After rooting, boot into your OS and enable USB debugging. Connect your phone to your computer, and allow the USB debugging, with "always allow" checked.
Swipe down from the top of the home screen and set the USB connection to MTP. On your computer, download this zip for superSU: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/
(I know it looks SUPER sketchy, but I haven't had problems with this download)
Open up your LG V20 in file explorer and drop the zip into your external SD card. (If your phone doesn't show up, you can put the zip directly onto the card and re-insert it).
Change the USB connection type to PTP.
Open a command prompt and type:
adb reboot recovery
It will take you into TWRP, if you've done the rooting correctly.
Flash the superSU zip, and don't wipe the cache afterwards. Reboot to system, and you should see the superSU app there. If not, try flashing the zip again.
Stop AT&T auto-updates: (Do this step right after installing superSU)
I had my phone here, and I left it alone for an hour. When I came back, it was in TWRP. AT&T had tried to auto update, but because TWRP was there, the update didn't happen. Every time I booted back to the system, I would get the message that I had an update, and it would be forcibly installed. It then would try to update, fail, and boot back to TWRP.
On the google play store, find an app called "service disabler".
Download it.
When you launch it, it should ask for root permissions, and superSU will give you a notification. You will have to accept a request.
In the search bar, type "Software Update". It should come up. Tap on it. There should be 4 services associated with it. Disable all of them.
In developer options, disable Automatic System Updates.
Ok, your phone shouldn't try to auto-update now.
Install Kali Nethunter:
Go here, and download the app APK file: https://store.nethunter.com/en/
Also go here: https://github.com/binkybear/busybox/releases/download/1.24.3/busybox.apk
Move both APKs to a place where you can run adb from, and open a command prompt in that location.
Run the command:
adb install [Whatever the busybox APK is called].apk
adb install [Nethunter APK].apk
Find the busybox app that was just installed. Click install. It will request root access, and then it will install busybox on your system.
Open Nethunter Store. Go to Settings->Repositories, and turn on all.
Download the following apps from the Nethunter Store:
Nethunter terminal
Nethunter
I know more things will look very interesting, but don't download them now.
Go to: https://build.nethunter.com/kalifs/kalifs-latest/
Get kalifs-armhf-full.tar.xz
Rename it to kalifs-full.tar.xz
Put it on to the micro SD card, and insert it into the phone.
Using the android file browser, copy the file from the SD card into your internal storage.
Open up the nethunter app. It should identify the busybox version. Open up the menu (three lines on the left), and go to Kali Chroot manager.
Go to "add chroot" and choose install from SD Card. Click on the "kalifs-full.tar.xz" option to select the full kali option (You can't select minimal, otherwise it won't work).
NOTE: If you can just hit "Download Latest", then good for you. I was having problems with it, as described in this thread: https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?38526-quot-Error-in-the-Chroot-download-quot
It should detect the file and ask for the metapackages you want to install. Choose the ones that you want, and install the chroot. Wait for it to finish.
When it is done, you should have access to more menu options in the nethunter app. When you open up the Nethunter terminal app, it will ask you for Kali, Android, or AndroidSU. You can choose one of them, and have fun.
Aside from a terminal, there are more apps you can use. Go back into Nethunter store, and pick some. I would recommend the following:
cSploit
Hijacker
SnoopSnitch
Intercepter-NG
LTE Discovery
OONI probe
RF Analyzer (If you have the hackRF / RTL-SDR)
aLogcat
HashDroid
Rucky will not work. You need the US unlocked LG V20 for that, sadly.
Now, you will have a rooted LG V20 with pentesting tools on it, and superSU! Enjoy!
Great write-up.
I believe that "Titanium Backup" can also do the disabling that "Service Disabler" does (and it's alittle more up to date).
Also, Busybox and kali nethunter can both be installed through Magisk, if you would like.
