Rooting the rko3066/rockchip 3066 device - Android General

I'm a newbie to Android, but I fumbled around with a rooting tool and found a method that works to root two flavours of rko3066, rockchip 3066 devices. As it only roots the device, I see no reason why it should not root any android device, as long as the correct device drivers are used.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
As always with any routine that flashes the eprom of any
cpu, no responsibility is assumed or implied by the author
for any damage that following these instructions may cause
to your phone, tablet, pc or device.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Rooting u30gt-h
On tablet
1.In U30gt-h Settings->Display open sleep setting.
2.Set sleep to at least ten minutes.
3.In U30gt-h Settings->storage->click on Three dots in upper
right of Settings window title field
4 Select USB computer connection Dropdown menu .
5. Select "Mass Storage" check box
6. <-- backout of storage settings
7. Browse down in Settings and select Security
8.In Security Settings, Select Unknown sources, to give the
Android device permission to install software from sources
not specifically sanctioned by Google and the Android
Consortium. This ensures that the Root utility,
Tp-Sparky-Root.bat will have the necessary access rights to
root the u30gt. If you have any qualms about unsanctioned
files on your tablet or device, you will want to uncheck
this selection after the rooting process is complete.
Whether any of the rooted utilities and programs you will
want to use are sanctioned, is anybody's guess. As always,
be careful when Dling or intalling Any software. I trust
everyone has and uses anti-virus software on all your
devices.
8.scroll down in settings and select {} Developer
Options, if not there, go to (i)about tablet and touch and
hold the Build field and it will bring up developer Options
in the left hand main menu.
9. In Developer Options, select USB debugging.
10. Close settings, and any other open apps.
11. Goto U30gt main android desktop, to ensure good clean
reboots.
12. Using a Known good micro USB to std USB cable,
connect U30gt tablet to PC, you'll get a "connecting to usb"
in notifications area in Android, and a usb icon in the
notification area. You Do Not want to select "Connect to Pc
to Transfer Files", in the notification menu, just plug in the
cable and let it be.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
On PC
1. Search in a web browser for RKBatchTool_u30.zip, the 1.5
version, DL and unzip in the default zip file subdirs.
Rk-batch-tool 1.5 has u30gt drivers, browse the Rk-batch
tool's dir for the u30 drivers for your PC OS. Right click
on the rockusb.inf and chose Install, to install the driver.
2. Verify that you have a rockchip_usb USB Device under disk
drives in Device Manager. Control Panel->System->Hardware->
Device Manager->Disk Drives->rockchip_usb USB Device.
3. Dl TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.rar from
*"mediafire.com/?vd3y1rld2amdxq5"*
as a newbie I cannot post links, so search mediafire.com for TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.rar
4. Unarchive TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.rar, using an archive, or
zip utility: Winzip, alzip, etc. It may require the password
"geekbuying.com" to unrar the archive.
5. Mouse into TPSarky-VonDroid-Root directory created by the
rar file, until you get to TPsparkyRoot.bat and adb.exe
files, a couple of sudirs inside TpSarky unzipped file
directories.
6. Run, double click on, adb.exe first. It opens up a dos
command window, runs a dos executable that launches adb
server and connects to the U30gt. It opens and closes so
fast you won't hardly see it. If you Do Not run adb.exe.
first, Tp-Sparky-Root.bat will not communicate with the
U30gt, and your root will fail.
7. Now run, double click on, Tp-Sparky-Root.bat
Tp-Sparky-Root.bat will Immediately reboot the u30gt.
8. When the u30gt reboots, hit space key as instructed.
Tp-Sparky-Root.bat will reboot the u30gt, again.
9. Press the space key as instructed, again. The command line
will show
uid=0<root> gid=0<root>
if you have a successful root.
10. Press the space key as instructed, again.
The command informs you the U30gt root has been remounted,
there are a couple of errors relating to SuperSU, I presume
SuperSu was Not included in the tpsarky zip file, or is in
the wrong place for the batch file to find it, but you can
DL SuperSU from GooglePlayStore, nhnf. The Utility notifies
you that Tp-Sparky-Root.bat is completing the root.
11. The u30gt will reboot one last time.
12. DL Titanium Backup Root, Rootchecker, or Avast Android to the tablet,
and they will confirm a rooted tablet.
**As this method only Roots the device, and since it worked
on both my u30gt and an Imito-Mx1 mini android, I think it
should work on nearly any RKO3066 droid device.
As always with any routine that flashes the eprom of any
cpu,
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Thanks to the people who initially posted the original root
routine for the IMITO-MX1 on Youtube, and to geekbuying for
this procedure, as well as the files for rooting the IMITO-
MX1 and ultimately the u30gt. A big thanks to Tp-Sarky or
Tp-Sparky, whoever they may be, for writing the batch file
that does all the work. I also want to thank 900Supersport,
kastycube and the good folks at alldocube for their various
flavours of the u30gt firmware and utilities, as well as
flashmyandroid.com
I have tried all flavours of android 4.1 firmware, 900
supersport, kastycube, to the generic cube-tablet.com
versions from 1.07 to the latest greatest build 1.11, and
None of them gives me access to the microsd card. I bought
two of these puppies for Christmas, IPS version, and neither
the original out of the box or my reconfigured one reads
microsd. It is possible that both got bad sd card readers,
but unlikely. As my imito-mx1 miniandroid reads the microsd
cards, as does the adapter in my pc, it is most probably an
U30gt flavour android system software issue. Anybody got any
clues how to resolve microsd issues in android?

works great

Yep, but for security reasons it's better to install some su governor, because now every app can have root access without your permission.

You can try this method found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987280&page=2. It's the method I used on my IdeaUSA CT705 it's just repetative having to keeping pushing the"enter" button as it also states in the thread.

Working on iRulu AX105
Thank you, working on iRulu AX105 Tablet, 10.1"

Permission denied
As ichiyamato said, this method not working for sk3066 device. Scrips are not working because there are no permission to copy necessary files into device.
All scripts gave,
Code:
*---* VonDroid.com N101 II Root Tool based on work by sunnydavid *---*
--- Plug in your device, make sure debugging is enabled in Developer Options
--- This script will now copy files over to your N101 II
failed on '/data/local/tmp' - Permission denied

I think we should open write permission on device. But i dont know how.
Thanks.

Work on Touchmate TM-MID940
I have successfully root my Touchmate TM-MID940 with TPSarky Android rooting method
Thanks

Confirmed working on an Energy System i8 tablet.
The micro SD card on my device does not stay in properly, so this method was needed.
I had to manually fiddle with adb a little (I had been trying other methods to root), so personally I would change the instructions to explain how to open a command prompt and execute:
adb kill-server
adb start-server
(Check it says starting server)
adb get-state
(check it says device)
then run the batch file

Rooted Cube U30GT-H firmware original v1.11 Rockchip 3066 with Kingo Root. Easy, easy. :good:

Adding Android Market to Coby Kyros MID1125 (no rooting)

I hope this helps some people out there, because it drove me nuts trying to find a way to do this for the MID1125 since it's so new...
First off, I was told by the two main rooting software developers that there is currently no way to root my device, so I needed to find a way to add Market without rooting the tablet. BTW, I’m running 2.3.3.
Secondly, none of the guides on how to add Android Market out there worked for me (once again because my tablet is too new). Every time I tried to use Market, it would just keep crashing, so here is how I did it:
1. Turn on the Debugging Mode (Settings>Applications>Development, then check the box).
2. If you have a microSD card in the tablet, safely eject it.
3. Plug your Kyros into your computer with the supplied USB cable and turn USB Storage on. You will then be prompted to open a window up, so do that because that is the internal storage of your tablet.
4. Download and unzip the file I attached to your computer (there should be 8 files in the zip).
5. Drag the 8 files onto the root of your device.
6. Turn off USB Storage on your tablet and disconnect the cable.
7. On your tablet, use a file managing program. I use the one that came stock on the unit, which is ES File Explorer. Once this program is open, you should see “/sdcard/” on the top left. If you don’t, click the home picture toward the top left. Now when you scroll down, you will see the 8 files that you dragged onto the tablet. Install them in the order that they are listed by selecting each one at a time, which should be GoogleBackupTransport.apk, GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk, GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk, GoogleFeedback.apk, GooglePartnerSetup.apk, GoogleServicesFramework.apk, Talk.apk, and Vending.apk.
8. Once all 8 files are successfully installed, reboot your tablet, and when it comes back on, click the Market icon, and log in with the normal Google username and password (or create a new account if you don’t have one).
9. Turn off the Debugging Mode (Settings>Applications>Development, then uncheck the box) and you should be good to go.
* I've successfully done this on three of these MID1125 tablets, so I figured I would try to save others the MANY hours it took for me to figure this out.
Thanks..I been looking for this for a mid1125 for a few days now..even tho I get mines in the mail tomorrow..I'll let u know how it goes when I try this..
---------- Post added at 08:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:11 PM ----------
Btw...anything else u learn about the 1125 to improve this tablet please let me know..thanks in advance...
Definitely worked..i just used the sd card and it installed perfectly
That's awesome! Glad it worked for you.
If anyone finds out when we can root this tablet, let me know
Ill see for the rooting part..but do u know how to get the updated market..?? Or will it update itself??

Thanks @pucku19 it works for me i install the files and i got he android market working on my coby kyros 1125 tablet thanks a lot.
sorry - not required - found into
Yeah, pass the information along for the new market and especially if someone finds out how to root it. I have already tried z4root and Gingerbreak, neither of which worked.. I was about to try pulling it from my LG Optimus S phone running Cyanogen Mod with Gingerbread 2.3.3. I will test it out and report back. If I can I will post the files for the new market as well.
root coby 1125
Hello,
In google type: coby kiros root 1125 comunidade coby kyros orkut. There is a tutorial to root this coby. This tutorial is in portuguese linguage.but you can.i use the translate from google to use it. I will maker a english tutorial but will spend a little time
You will need to know something about what is being spoke of (ADB in particular) and it's quite rough but here is a copy paste of the process that paulonsf was speaking of. Also note that due to a shortage of postings I can't post links, but I'm sure you can figure out where to put what to make them work :
Coby Kyros ROOT access in 1125
I bring you here in the community a great tutorial made by Paulo Novais, who is here in the community. In this tutorial he explains how to access Root in 1125
Files needed:
Link 3: .mediafire.com/?0flk1abu232me1k (upgrade.zip-this installs the clockworkmod)
Link 4 : .mediafire.com/?cd061vl5465bmed (install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed-This installs SU)
continuing ..
1 - The ADB tool is a tool that you use the switch to access the tablet.
-2) In a folder with a name for easier access to this folder, for example: C: \ ADBTOOL.
2 - Connect the tablet and the computer using the USB cable, enable tablet mode debugging settings / applications / development / usb debugging.
a. The tablet computer will identify the device as an android.
You can check this panel to identify control / hardware / device. If the drives in the devices should be, automatically installed, an exclamation mark on Android device will appear. This will be necessary
reinstall the drives. In my case I asked him to seek in Windows the best network drive to the device itself and windows found the drives.
b. In the tablet notifications inform him that he is with the way debugging turned on. In addition, it will give the option of connecting to the USB exchange of information with the computer. The one option that you want it mount the sd shows internal and external disk drives in computer. Do not enable that option.
c. To test that you have an established connection type and run the windows: CMD, go to the command prompt. Enter the folder ADBTOOL you created and placed the files in the link 2 (cd
ADBTOOL). One way to know if the drive is installed go type: ADB reboot and press enter. This should reset your Tablet. If you managed to get to that you already have access to tablet via ADB command!. The command: ADB devices also can be used to check if the device is android connected.
Procedure 2 (Installing ClockworkMod):
1 - Put the file update.zip and su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip link
3 and 4 link in an external SD and enter the same in 1125 coby tablet.
No need to uncompress the file, the tablet has the endende
format. ZIP.
a. In the tablet go to setting / about devices / System Update / Install
System Update / From SD CARD. Confirm the operation, the tablet will
reboot and install the update and reload the android system. In this
point CWM (ClockworkMod) was installed. Standards in tablets coby
to go to recovery mode (ClockworkMod) was enough to restart the
holding tablet (power + home). In 1125 coby form is not working,
at least for my coby.
b. To access the CWM use the comand ADB, as explained
above, but type: adb reboot recovery, the tablet will
CWM restart mode. In this mode displays a list of options,
as the backup option, which we talk about topics from previous options,
to update the system, run options of settings files
zip. To make the ROOT will use this last option.
c. To navigate the CWM coby 1125 only gives the option of using the volume
volume up and down (the power button has the same function of the volume up).
Volume will descend down the options. The volume goes up or power button
select the / run option. The problem that occurs in coby
1125, is that if you want to return to the previous option, will not be
possible, there is no button to do this operation. Thus, if you
wrong selection, you need to return the following command: adb reboot
recovery again that the tablet goes to the home screen CWM.
Procedure 3 (ROOT):
1 - Go to recovery mode using the command adb reboot recovery
2 - Scroll down to the option "install zip from sdcard" using the volume down
and select this option using the volume up. Another list will appear
options: choose the "choose zip from sdcard". From there you will see the
su file-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip listed, select this file and
run using the volume down and volume up to navigate to
select and execute.
3 - You will see it run an update. The takes a while. When finished you'll have to use the ADB to give command: ADB reboot from the computer. Because you cannot use the buttons on the tablet to give a reset by CWM.
4 - Ready! When you restart the tablet superuser and run the program, it will get root access and you will see a "#" symbol in notifications from your tablet. A root tip has a program to explore, you can browse directories, change the write option in the directory, copy and paste files. Very good indeed.
Thank you so much for this post. I had been trying to get this done for days on my MID1126 and this worked perfectly!

Very good indeed.

how do you get the driver for the mid1125 my computer wont find it and when i go to adb it says device not recognized
Market = good to go

Problems adding Android Market to MID1125
I have followed the instructions of how to add the Adroid Market to the MID1125 and still no go. I get the GoogleBackupTransport.apk installed and every other file comes up not installed, with the exception of the Vending.apk which loads. Of course the Android Market does not work. It only flashes a white screen for a second the back to the desktop. I have uninstalled the packages and reinstalled several times, with the same result. I really do not want to root it.
Any ideas, anybody???

[Guide][WIP] Dopo TD-1010 hacking

Since there is a terrible lack of information on this RockChip tablet, I've decided to compile what is known about this tablet into one thread. I'll modify this as more info becomes available to me.
Double Power TD-1010 10.1" Tablet
Tablet architecture: this tablet is a Rockchip RK3066 based tablet.
Rooting the TD-1010: The method that I have tried and successfully rooted my tablet involves using the drivers from PDAnet and AndroidRoot. A tutorial exists on YouTube for this. Having that out of the way, we can begin on more technical information.
Backing up the ROM: As the tablet is a rockchip device, you can use the RkFlashTool for linux here in order to copy/write to the tablet. I've modified the source of RkFlashTool in order to detect the tablet, and attached it below.
1.compile it using the included instructions, and throw it in your /usr/bin folder.
2.To put the tablet into flash mode, hold the VOL+ button while plugging in the usb cable to the tablet.
3.Wait 2-3 seconds before letting go of the Vol+ button after plugging it in. your screen should be black at this point.
4.You are now in flash mode, and can be detected by the rkflashtool.
5.Download the Linux tools.7z, and run MAKE on the tools dir.
6.Copy the resulting mkkrnlimg executable to your /usr/bin directory.
7.make sure the simpledump has permissions to execute, and run
Code:
./simpledump.sh
8.Make sure your tablet is in flash mode, then hit enter to begin.
Recovery/Unbricking:
Dillmiester at TabletRepublic has made a stock backup of the TD-1010 after it returned from RMA, and can be located Here. Note, remove the external SD card, and you may have to retry the flashing of system.img multiple times if it fails.NOTE 2: THIS UPGRADES YOUR TABLET TO JELLYBEAN, AND GIVES YOU 1.8 GB of APP SPACE.
Flashing: ROMS, such as the stock one linked above, can be flashed using Windows 7 and the RKAndroidTool I have attached to this post. This includes the drivers for using the program as well. The tablet will need to be in Flash mode in order for the program to write to it.
Booting into recovery:Yes, this tablet does have a recovery. to get to it:
hold power and vol+ at the same time
screen should boot to android character with a red ! sign over his body
press vol+ and Back(the normal touchscreen location for it)
If done at the same time, you should be at the recovery menu.
great job thank you. i don't have a Linux machine so i guess all i can do is root?
you can root and flash existing ROMS on windows, but you cannot dump your own tablet on windows.

Just an FYI for those interested. I've found a working romdump procedure for this tab, that's independent of any OS. Unfortunately, I can't post the link, but would be more than happy to supply it some other way. I can confirm it works and is safe. It's on vondroid.com for those interested. The rest of the link is /threads/updated-27-08-2012-how-to-dump-current-rom.322/ hope it helps those using windows.
Just for clarification purposes. 'The extracted file is what you need to copy to your SD, not the zip. And when you change the permissions all you need to do is add execute to the user. Oh, and in term emulator after su you need to enter /data/local/romdump and NOT just /data/romdump because it won't work.

Thank you sooooo much for the work you have compiled into one location. Is there any way that you could provide a detailed description for Windows PC's for loading the ROM that increases the App storage file size to 2GB and also how to load CWM as the permanent recovery? I just received my tablet back from DOPO and it is loaded with Android 4.1.1 firmware and 1GB of app storage space. The original root process (android root unlocker) does not work anymore. I ended up using (root rk29) to obtain root access (just in case anyone needs the info). Thank you in advance for your support with this tablet, it is greatly appreciated.

Reset lockscreen security on GoClever Tab r76.2

Hello, I get just today a GoClever Tab r76.2 to reset the forgotten pin from the locksreen. Device was used mainly for Pou and Facebook, so there was no root, no usb debugging, my PC was not set as trusted device, just like from the store with PIN set. Installed system is Android 4.1
Because it took me whole morning and I found a lot of answers that "it cannot be done, you have to factory reset" I want to show you my steps to make this process easier for people in need. This method shouldn't erase any data from your device but always remember to have a backup
It is based on the following tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601933 , but still it was not enough for me so I want to provide more details.
Step 1.
The very important thing is to install drivers for the device. To make this process the easiest I get my old, good Asus netbook with Windows XP installed. You can install it also on VirtualMachine, it is not very mandatory but my next steps will be based on this configuration.
There is a need for two types of drivers: Rockchip drivers to flash the memory and ADB Drivers.
1.1) Rockchip drivers can be found in the thread linked above, I am providing mirror at the bottom of this thread. Just doubleclick on the exe, accept the risk and install, that's all for now.
1.2 ADB drivers are provided in the second package attached. To install adb drivers go to recovery.
To switch tablet to the Recovery Mode you have to switch it off (not reboot), turn it on, just when the BootScreen will appear tap Vol+ until you will see opened Android Robot with exclamation mark. What's interesting, when you double click Vol+ this time you can switch to Android Recovery menu and factory reset the device
In device manager (Win+R, type: devmgmt.msc and press ENTER) install drivers for Tab r76 device manually, by providing direct location to the .ini file from the folder.
Leave tablet in Recovery.
Step 2.
People from some Russian Android forum prepared package with pre-configured adb for rockchip devices. Just download attachment 2.1, extract it, install, open Command Line and "cd" to directory with adb.exe, very useful.
Step 3.
Now we will root the device and install CWM. Download file from the attachment 3.1, unzip it and run "RK29Update.exe", don't click any button (especially the one called "Erase", it will brick your device), don't change any setting, your tablet will be not found at the moment. This package belongs to the author of the original tutorial.
Step 4.
In command line enter "adb devices" to check if your tablet is visible, you should see something like "0123456789ABCDEF recovery", if yes enter "adb reboot bootloader" and press enter. Tablet will reboot, the screen will remain black, system will install the Rockchip driver, RK29Update.exe will find the device (IF NOT just reboot to recovery again and reboot to bootloader from adb again, driver installation might interrupt this process), press Run button in the application it will flash the device with root patch and CWM, device will reboot to CWM recovery.
Step 5.
Download attachment nr 5.1 (original source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437946) and put the zip to the SD card (card has to be compatible with the device - most secure solution is having FAT32 filesystem), put it to the tablet, install zip from external source (not sdcard, it's internal memory).
After reboot of the device ("restart system now" option in main page of CWM) your device should welcome you without screen locked by any security possible and your settings should remain untouched.
From now everybody should be able to reset it's PIN in the easy way Have fun
CC: You are allowed to copy this tutorial anywhere, mirror the links also, but please leave a link to the original thread.

Root & TWRP Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50F (MT8161)

Root & TWRP Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50F (MT8161)
Ok so this is a in depth tutorial on obtaining root and installing twrp for the device in the title. Anything in "quotes" eg, type in cmd "adb devices" quotes should be ignored. This guide is for those who know what root is and know there way around windows and Linux. If you did something wrong i am not liable and maybe you should have read things before trying.
EDIT: for those of you who want to root in one or two clicks i have added support for this device in the ZEUS TOOLKIT wich will root without installing custom recovery.. LINK >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644166
REQUIREMENTS/DOWNLOADS:
-Windows PC & Linux (Ubuntu. virtual box would be fine although i have my pc dual booting both os's)
-Driver Signing Disabled on Windows 7 and above
-Device Drivers
-SpFlash Tool (including scatter file)
-Adb Tools
-TWRP + SuperSU Files
-Insecure Boot.img
LINK FOR ALL REQUIRED FILES >> DOWNLOAD << DOWNLAOAD AND EXTRACT TO DESKTOP
Downlaod all of the above and extract/move everything to a folder which for this guide i will assume will be called ROOT on your DESKTOP
SOME READING:
The Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50F is a rather locked down device with the ability to reflash the stock rom on every reboot if required. In this guide you can only do things in a specific order to be able to get it rooted and stop the stock recovery reflashing. It took me a few times of (soft)bricking my device before i could get it sorted to a stable rooted system with twrp installed. TWRP recovery was not built from source by me personally (it was obtained from a russian website) although i have had to modify the TWRP image as it was boot looping but its sorted and working now. So roughly this is how things are going to go, we will use SpFlash tool to readback the system partition, then use linux to modify a file in the system.img the use SpFlashtool to refalsh the modified system.img. Then we are going to unlock the bootloader and then flash an insecure boot.img along with twrp and then root using chainfire's latest binarys.
THE GUIDE:
STEP 1 - installing the drivers
For this i will assume you you have already got adb driver installed if not please google it i personally used googles generic adb driver.
Please make sure you have disabled driver signing for windows "GO HERE". Now open device manager and right click on your pc's name at the top of the list and select add legacy hardware > click next > check "install the hardaware that i manually select from a list (advance)" and click next > highlight "show all devices" and click next > click "have Disk" > click "browse" > browse to the desktop\root\MTK Drivers all windows\ and choose the folder to match your windows installation and then choose the 32bit or 64bit driver file depending on your windows install > click open > click ok > highlight "MTK USB PORT" > click next > click next > if a warning pops up click install anyway > click finish. Your drivers are now installed for spflash tool to recognise your device.
STEP 2 - backing up system partition
Make sure your device is truned off and disconnected from your computer. Open SPFlash Tool form "Desktop\ROOT\SPFlash_tool\flash_tool.exe" > click "scatter-loading button > browse to "Desktop\Root\ and open MT6735_Android_scatter.txt > click the readback tab > click add > double click the entry which is now listed >browse to "Desktop\Root" and in the filename box type "system.img" > click save > check "HEX" > for region select EMMC_USER > for start address type "0xb000000" > for length type "0x74000000" > click ok > click readback. now with your device turned off connect the usb and the SPFlash tool will begin to backup your system partition to "Desktop\Root\system.img" wait until its finished and continue to the next step.
STEP 3 - editing the system.img
Now we have the system.img transfer it via usb (or whatever means) to your ubuntu machine place system.img in your ~/Home/ folder eg. ~/Home/System.img now open a terminal by pressing CTRL + T > type "mkdir output" press enter > now type "sudo mount -t ext4 -o loop system.img output/" press enter > type your sudo password > press enter > type " cd output" press enter > type "sudo mv recovery-from-boot.p recovery-from-boot.bak" press enter > type "cd" press enter > type "sudo umount output/" press enter. The system.img has now been modified and can be transfered back to windows. Goto next step.
STEP 4 - unlocking bootloader
With device booted to android and usb debugging enabled open cmd prompt and type "cd C:\Users\robert\Desktop\ROOT\adb" > (replace "robert" with your username) press enter > type "adb reboot bootloader". Your device will now reboot into fastboot mode when it displays "fastboot mode in the bottom left of the screen type into cmd "fastboot oem unlock" > press enter > screen will change and ask you to confirm do this by pressing vol+ > wait and when a screen with three boot options appears DO NOTHING and go to next step.
STEP 5 - flashing insecure boot.img
Now you should have the ability to flash the boot. Type into cmd "fastboot flash boot boot.img" the device will let you know it is done and when it is done flashing just type into cmd "fastboot reboot" and let the device fully boot and goto the next step.
STEP 6 - flashing modified system.img
now open SPFlash tool again it should have remembered the scatterfile if not reload the scatter file. In the main window of the download tab make sure ONLY system is checked then in the location colum click the space in line with system and browse to your modified system.img and click open. At this point before doing anything make sure your device is turned off and not connected to the computer in any way. Now click Download in SPFlash tool then connect your device via usb while turned off and the tool will begin flashing the system.img wait until it is finished and a green tick appears in flash tool and if your device does not boot automatically then unplug it and reboot it wait until it fully rebooted and goto next step. You can close flash tool for now.
STEP 7 - flashing TWRP recovery
with your devfice now booted with a custom boot and system image open cmd prompt and type "cd C:\Users\robert\Desktop\ROOT\adb" > (replace "robert" with your username) press enter > type "adb reboot bootloader" > press enter your device will boot into fastboot mode again when it has type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" > press enter > when its done type "fastboot reboot" > press enter now wait for the device to fully boot and goto next step
STEP 8 - flashing Supersu by Chainfire
Now your device has rebooted it will be missing the super user app and all binary's so open file explorer on your computer and copy the SuperSU-v2.46.zip from the ROOT folder on the desktop to the download folder on your device after doing that open cmd prompt and type "cd C:\Users\robert\Desktop\ROOT\adb" > (replace "robert" with your username) press enter > type "adb reboot recovery" > press enter. Your device will now reboot into TWRP recovery check the little box and swipe the arrow at the bottom to continue now touch install > touch Download > touch SuperSU-v2.46.zip and finally swipe to install. when it is finished reboot. Hey presto one rooted device with a fully working twrp. reboot and download busybox from play store and install as some programs like system app remover need some binarys from busybox.
After following the above steps you will have a fully rooted device wich can be backed up via twrp and flashed via twrp. now i have figured this out, i think its someone elses turn to build a rom for it preferably Cyanogenmod Thanks for reading this guide and all the best luck with your new rooted device. please remember to click thanks.

Have you found a way to root it without the need for Linux?
Hi
I would like to know if this guide will work for MT-8735
Thanks in advance,
Dimitris
Anyone found a way to root MT8735 version A8-50L or A8-50LC?
The files seem to be missing...
Any help would be much appreciated. I used the guide fine up until the Step 5.
Now I'm a bit stuck.

I used something called Kingroot along with the info and files found here https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Androi...-to-root-TAB2-A8-50-WiFi-version/td-p/2181021 to help me root without using linux. There is a ROM listed there. If you use Kingroot.apk, you'll have to run it 2 or 3 times to get the ROOT to stick, then you can enable debugging, and oem unlocking in dev options. Afterwards, you can use fastboot to unlock the bootloader and once that's done, use the SP Flash tool to download Max Choen's rom to the device, install SuperSU and Busybox and your gravy!!!
what files? that post does not have any files provided and could someone upload the files that are missing from the post so we could also use them?

If you guys read the entire post in the link I sent you might be able to get where I got. I'm not a dev and not much for writing tutorials but my process went,
1. KingRoot
2. Unlock boot loader
3. Flash twrp via fastboot or flashify
4. Factory reset
5. Reinstall King root and re root.
6. Format and partition memory card
7. Install apps2sd
8. Install Xposed
9. Install obb to SD module
10. Enjoy tablet with 64gb of space with tons of large data games installed!!!! (Note that this step requires you own a 64 gig memory card)

I will post it in the morning, I think it's on my wife's laptop. The link I posted USED TO lead you to a post that had the files I mentioned and the process I followed. Now they are just suggesting you simply root using Kingo... Which is fine and dandy but does not give you the ability to format your memory card. I will post my recovery image for yall in the morning. You would just have to use KingRoot and then flash TWRP using Flashify once you have a successful root. Then you can format your card and install apps2sd of your choice and xposed with the obb2sd module! That's what I got going on, got TONS of large data games on the tablet cause I installed a very fast 64gb memory card, and BIGGITY BAM!!!! Turned this little budget tablet into something decent for the kiddos! Just wish we could do something about that terrible 1gb of memory, but hell, I was able to get this far so I'm pretty happy!:good:

Here it is!
Had some things to take care of first. Got a wife and kids to care for before I do my geek stuff. This is not a flashable zip! You must unzip the .img file and use Flashify after a successful KingRoot.
P.S. all credit goes to the original creators of this build of twrp I originally obtained in This Very XDA post we are conversing in! All I did was download this file, I am not a dev andi do not take credit or responsibility for any of the files I've used to root this device! Cheers!!!!
Okay... Thanks. I have SuperSU installed and working. TWRP installed and working, but I haven't unlocked the bootloader.
Will this prevent me from installing xposed framework, do you know?
And the which apps, by which developers, do you install to move apps to SD card?
Thanks for your help!

I am using Link2SD, Xposed OBB2SD module. That's about it. Not sure if bootloader unlocking is even necessary for anything.

Can you flash supersu from stock recovery or do i have to flash twrp first?
I used KingRoot (ver 4.8.2) to root my Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet.
I used KingRoot as part of a SuperTool. The SuperTool, using a batchfile script, also removed KingRoot after the tablet was rooted and then installed SuperSU.
The SuperTool (April 6, 2016 version) was created by xda's RootJunky for the Amazon Fire 7 5th gen tablet, using KingRoot and SuperSU, but it rooted my Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet, uninstalled KingRoot and installed SuperSU, all with only a couple of mouse clicks.
Even if you are already rooted with KingRoot, you can use this tool to uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU. (Just run the tool, let it re-install KingRoot, don't run KingRoot but hit Enter on the SuperTool to then uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU).
Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet info:
Model Number: Lenovo TAB 2 A8-50F
Android version: 5.1
Kernel version: 3.10.65
Build number: A8-50F_S000037_151023_ROW
Software version: A8-50F_151023
Hardware version; LenovoPad A8-50F
The SuperTool batch file script rooted the tablet with KingRoot and then uninstalled KingRoot and installed SuperSu.
I have since installed ES File Manager, Titanium Backup, Link2sd on the tablet. Root is totally working. Rooted with only a couple of clicks!
Just enable Developer options on Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F (by tapping tablet Build Number 7 to 10 times [Settings, About Tablet, Build Number (tap 7 to 10 times)]), enable USB debugging on Tablet in the Developer options settings.
Connect Tablet to Windows 10 with a USB data cable (I used the USB 2.0 port). When screen message on the Tablet mentions connections, make sure it is in the MTP mode.
Extract RootJunky's SuperTool Zip file to the Windows 10 desktop.
Run RootJunky's SuperTool (Amazon-Fire-5th-gen.bat) You may have to read the instructions on the pages below and install adb drivers. Pick option #6 Root. Choose Option #3: version 5.1.2. This will run a script that installs KingRoot, allows you to run it manually, and then removes KingRoot and installs SuperSU.
Press enter and KingRoot will be installed on the Tablet from the SuperTool. (approve any messages that appear on Tablet screen) Now don't touch the PC SuperTool until the Tablet is rooted.
Open KingRoot on the Tablet and run it. You may have to run KingRoot several times and the Tablet may reboot. Just keep running KingRoot until the Tablet is rooted. After KingRoot reaches 100%, then press ENTER on the PC.
The SuperTool will now uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU on the Tablet.
Choose NORMAL SuperSU install on the Tablet when prompted. When SuperSU is installed, reboot the Tablet. Disconnect data cable.
After reboot the Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet is rooted. There will be a request by SuperSU to upgrade. Approve it. You can now install Titanium Backup, Link2sd, ES File Manager, etc. Your Tablet is rooted. As easy as that. THANKS ROOTJUNKY!!!

ROOT solution for Mediacom M-iPro110B and maybe other Atom Bay Trail based

I got this tablet, a Mediacom iPro110B and looked everywhere but no working root solution
However I found a way to root it, and it's very easy. Worked on Windows 7 x64, but had some driver problems on Win10 x64
Just download the attached file and extract it in C:\
Install both drivers included
Computer must be connected to internet
Enable USB debug in tablet and connect to PC
Open a prompt window (I did in admin mode, just to be sure)
Change working dir to c:\root or c:\root\root (where is located the GO.bat file) and run GO.bat
Mission complete. Hit any button to reboot with SuperSU 2.65 installed
SuperSU may ask to upgrade binaries and won't be able to do that, but will work the same, just dismiss the notification at every boot
To avoid that notification I did a "manual update" by downloading SuperSU full package from Chainfire's website (link is down) and copying manually the files contained in the X86 folder in /system/xbin, /system/bin and /system/lib (with right permissions), just to be sure
This procedure worked on my Mediacom M-iPro110B and may work on other Bay Trail based tablets
Hit thanks if that helped you, and enjoy!

Of course I tried the FBLR procedure described here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
but failed. This method use adb commands instead of fastboot
I see.
Just FYI It's using Intel FBRL method
Glad you made it work
