I recently bought a a cracked gs4 for $75 and I managed to get the glass off. Now I'm not sure whether I should use loca or just simply tape a new glass front. Willing using it without loca cause any permanent damage to the screen or digitizer.

You will need a solid electrostatic contact between the glass and digitizer.
A piece of scotch tape haphazardly slapped on probably won't achieve the desired effect.

Is it possible to change the glass over the screen not the digitizer and other components with most of the screens they sell on ebay, and if so how is the installation?
Checkout repair guide in the general section, seems pretty informative. I think the digitizer and screen address one unit with this device- cannot be replaced separately. There are post in that thread that address this issue; it cautions against purchasing kit on eBay that claim to target digitizer or the screen separately. Please post your findings here in case others may have similar issues.

Well, it's very outdated (4 years now), but I'm posting this for anyone who will google for the instructions of howto change the glass only, like myself.
The protective glass is glued to the digitizer glass.
It's not very strong glue, BUT! The digitizer is much more fragile then the protective glass and any try to separate them (even with thinnest tool) will most probably end up with digitizer broken and cracked.
The only way is to change the whole unit - digitizer, LCD and the glass (usually costs ~50-80$ + shipment).
So the question if to fix it, or just to buy a new phone for 300$ is open.
PS. If I only had the name of that genius Gnusmas engineer who invented this finest idea: to glue up the digitizer and the protective glass... It would have been a good demotivator.

can you buy a used one on craigslist for parts?
There's a red speck of dust/dirt on my BSE Front protector (Haven't got a clue how the speck of dirt/dust is red ) and I haven't got a clue how to remove it. I've tried washing it using water and washing-up liquid (Dish soap) but it just won't budge. How can I get it off without damaging the screen protector? I really don't want to have to get a replacement/send it back/buy a new one over a speck of dust.
piece of tape usually does the trick.. but it sounds like you went pretty hard on it. are you sure it's not under the protective peel-off layers?
Happen to me once too!
Gave the screen protector a run under water doesnt get it off either..
I conclude that the piece of dust was glue on the adhesive itself
I email them and gave them a picture and they just gave me a new one..

Yeah, once you get dust on the adhesive side of the BSE, you're pretty much screwed. Emailing support will probably net you a new one.
You really have to try to apply them in a low dust area because the tape thing doesn't work with wet apply protectors the way it does with dry ones.
Take it off carefully without stretching it and wash it under water and reapply it worked great when I had dust under my screen protector

I bought brand new S3 with cracked glass. The previous owner only had it for 5 hours, everything was in working condition when I bought it.
I changed the glass with a China eBay replacement. Removed old glass and tested the phone before installing the new glass. Everything works, I continued and laid 2 mm 3M tape all around the edges and applied the glass. Everything works.
BUT, if you PRESS HARD in one spot, it looks like oil is between the digitizer and glass. The screen will twitch until locked and unlocked.
Anyways, I haven't been able to find an answer in a few weeks, so I am asking.
I have since removed the glass, and tape to see if the tape was the problem. I do not have a film on the glass, and cleaned all surfaces with rubbing alcohol. Any other suggestions?
lcd
Same problem here but i believe my problem is because of shatter resist thing. Someone check this thread..

Shatter resistant thing?
Did you break your glass before?
So I ordered myself a full cover tempered glass online thru ebay. I knew the glass would only have adhesive at the edges, I wasn't able find any with adhesive in the middle but I thought about maybe using loca to fill the gap between the screen and tempered glass and I gotta say I'm pretty happy with the results. So to anyone that has some experience with loca repairs I'd suggest trying it out. If you've never used loca then I would suggest not trying it as it might end up being a messy project and you could damage your screen if you have loca seepage. I'm extremely happy with this phone now, touch panel is as responsive as if it didn't have any screen protector. I had a tempered glass on before but only covered the lcd portion of the screen and the edges would lift.
Can you post pics of the adhesive as well as instructions please thanks

will you be able to remove the glass protector if it breaks when you have used loca?
You took the idea right out of my head and I'm to see it works. Did you apply the LOCA to the whole piece of glass or only the areas without adhesive?
If you've ever worked with loca you shouldn't have a hard time with it, because it is not directly glued to the lcd removal shouldn't be too hard and shouldn't require too much heat to remove, definitely less of a risk. My whole family upgraded to the g5 so I still have three more devices I can try this out with, I can try to record myself doing it next time, I just have to place the order for the tempered glass again. Now do keep in mind I repair phones for a living pretty much, so working with loca is something I do often. Doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to do it you just need to have a pretty good idea how it works and what to do in the event it goes wrong. Give me about a week or so till I get a hold of more tempered glass and I'll definitely put a guide together. Quick list of things you'd need pretty much would the the tempered glass obviously, loca, 1mm adhesive, clamps, and uv light. It's a fun project, if you do it right you'll be extremely happy with the results. Loca in this case is only applied to the area without adhesive, because of how loca works you need to sort of trap the loca inside the area where there is no adhesive, build a seal in a sense, that's where the 1mm adhesive comes in place. I'll make a whole guide and video of next time I do it. I'm itching to try this on the gs7 edge my coworker has xD

How do you plan on removing the protector should it crack or become scratched beyond use? And also, you managed to squirt the right amount of loca so that it didn't leave any noticeable air gaps, and it didn't seep out?

Actually ended up getting the v20 and same scenario with this device, there was no good tempered glass available so I ended up doing the same thing I did with my g5 on this one, I'm just posting up a video of my method. Hope you guys enjoy.

I have been through 4 of those stupid edge adhesive protectors and they all pop off and don't even stick. Whitedome is stupid in my opinion because the entire top of the screen with the sensors is exposed, that defeats the whole purpose of a screen protector. Are there any others that use full box adhesive but actually cover the entire screen?
Out of luck

i found one on aliespress that cover the full screen
the only issue was that it affected the front camera and the quality of the pictures decreased and the pictures are not clear
maybe i installed it wrong or something but i am not sure
i ordered different set that will keep the sensors plus the front camera exposed
and does not defeat the purpose of screen protector because it should mainly protect the screen although a side hit will break the screen even with the protector on it.
anyway
on aliexpress you can find several protectors and you can choose from full protector or sensors cut protectors
this is the link for the full screen protector that i bought
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Lam...440.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dYX9ea2
the top part (blacked out parts) where the sensor and selfie cam lies does not count as part of the screen. All screen protectors either have the entire top area exposed or use cut out holes for the sensors/cam

It most certainly does to me, if it's able to be scratched I want it protected. It's a $1300 phone. Cut outs would be fine and I see no reason they don't exist with the adhesive type. I may look into the AliExpress one but part of me also worries about a cheap adhesive for that price that may damage the phone. I may just go back to the film types because at least they adhere properly.
Instead of worrying about a screen protector that covers 100% of the screen why not just invest in a good warranty. I have my 512gb insured through SquareTrade with only a $99 deduct and $120 down for 2 years.

Sounds better than wasting money chasing the perfect TGSP unicorn.
Another victim of form over function, at least Razer gets it with their flat displays.....

i recently switched from the full screen protector to sensor cut protector
removing the old protector left almost no residue
a small smudge remained on a small part of the screen that i was able to remove with rubbing alcohol
film type are good but not very spen friendly

yeah this is the best thing
but getting scratches on the device is not covered by insurance (in my country)
only way to get the screen replaced is by smashing it more or bricking the phone and getting a new one

I'm not worried about it breaking, I'm worried about scratching. Scratches aren't covered, as mentioned above.
I bought one with full adhesive surface, oleophobic coating and s-note compatibility. cost me approx. 13 Euro
Application took 10-15 minutes to move away all air bubbles
Bought it HERE

So if scratches aren't covered, yet a total destruction is and it would be the same deduct... hhmmmm
There are plenty of full screen adhesion screen protectors online. If your search Amazon or any online retailer I am sure you will find one.
ZAGG Glass Curve Elite has full adhesive.
I use the tempered glass screen protector for my Note 9 from Spigen, stays on and I've had no issues with it.

Is this full adhesive, or tape on the edges? Any rainbow issues, or sensitivity issues down the center ?
Having used MULTIPLE tempered glass options your two best are whitestone for full adhesive or zagg for full adhesive. Zaggs replacement policy is great and they make a good screen cover, but the whitestone has been AMAZING for me. Because it's full adhesive it actually reinforced the screen and survives things the zagg never could. I've installed 3 and NEVER had an issue. When paired with the right case, the only way you could scratch the sensor or camera is by a direct hit by a small object exactly to that spot. That might not survive even with a cover and any film over a camera will reduce quality.
