Android L custom ROM availability for XL? - Sony Xperia L

I just installed SlimKat on my phone and it's lovely! Feels like I can use my phone for another 12+ months haha
What are the chances of getting Android L based custom roms like SlimKat, Paranoid Android, OmniROM, etc. for the XL? It would work like butter on XL.

Android L (Lemon Meringue Pie, Lion, etc.) is not even out yet, and when it comes out all the developers will start working on 4.5 5.0 L ports. Some developers already slowed down their work with KitKat as they are wating for L.

don't expect that xperia L will get android L after a few days once it officially release
xperia L is legacy device so it will need months of work to get it because of the changes in the new android version

Why is it a legacy device when it's officially supported in CM, Omni, Slim, PA and many other ROMs? It may not be high-end, but I'm sure it will get L.
When? That depends on the developers and their experiences/knowledge and... The amount of spare time they have.

If it officially supported that's not mean it's not legacy
The new futures in android L need good hardware
Take the encryption as example
Will our phone be able to decrypt and encrypt data on each boot ? i hope that...
i didn't said it will not get L but it will need time to get patched and the only who will be able to do that is varun
Thanks

Nope, a phone with an MSM8930 S4 SoC can't be considered legacy at all (besides CM don't like legacy devices).
And I also doubt that only Varun is able to do that (no offense meant), we already discussed that weeks ago in a similar thread.

Just reading this review: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8231/a-closer-look-at-android-runtime-art-in-android-l makes me drool.
What are the skills required to do what Varun did? I wish I could help in any way possible. (I don't think I'll be able to actually procure those skills in time though haha but hmm)
An update like L is exactly what XL needs. The difference between it and a high end device will reduce.
I love you @Olivier ! SlimKat is a blessing. Haven't tried any other ROM but that's because from what I have read, SlimRom is the lightest/most fluid of all. Waiting for updates and a possible fix for the wakelock thing.

Apparently our CyanogenMod maintainer has had a look at the open source archive & says that numerous parts have been updated. I have no original source but am only going by what I read here. By what it says I am definitely looking forward to the update.

i don`t think so,
if the number has 15.4.A.1.12 ,then only it's a new android version.
the 2nd digit after the 1st point change in every new android version

Yeah I also think that, if 15.3.A.0.27 was going to be released as a bug fix then why it was skipped you know I mean another bug fix has to be released only if 0.27 had bugs, so why a new build was certified before 0.27 was released. And if they wanted to add features like all the Xperia phones e.g. Xperia Themes etc. they have to update to Android 4.3 as all the Xperias with Android 4.3 are only eligible for them.
So why a big update?
I also agree with that second digit change thing for Android version increments.
But I can't understand the above done thing by Sony.

I think we will probably get KITKAT!!! There are more chances of kitkat than 4.3 as AOSP sources of KIKAT have been alredy released by sony....
Come on brothers !!!! If Xperia M has got Android 4.3 it means our device will get 4.3 or higher(most likely) .
And remember Sony has us in AOSP project so KitKat sources are already ready , just wait till all Sony devices start getting 4.4 ,in that very timeline we will get ours, bcoz it doesn't make sense updating a mid-range device before flagships. (ZL, ZR,Zetc).
But also I don't think that you know , XM was updated before us so , even we may get ours before flagships

Firstly, the good news is there is an update coming for Xperia L which seems to be a bug fixing update. 15.3.a.1.1.6
It hopefully will be last try from the Sony to clear bugs from the current stock ROM.
Xperia M was announced in May2013 compared to March 2013 for Xperia L.
Usually a mid-range device receives updates for a year from Sony so it seems unlikely we might be pushed to 4.4.
If Xperia L KitKat was coming, they wouldn't release buggy premature source for Kitkat. The source code is always released after the ROM has been completed and is sent out to devices !
Doing that, they not only kept many people quite to show how friendly Sony is to developers but in the mean time, it bought them time so they can come up with an excuse later that 'a year of spupport' has been given!
I am sorry to disappoint you and I hope I am wrong, but a KitKat update seems very unlikely especially with their new devices being released so naturally they would be looking to discontinue support for many others!

KitKat is much better , and we r no kids with that mentality, and bro no one downgrades quality in an incremental update get ur brain right and if u know KitKat has new drivers so most problems get solved!!!

Talking about all this is waste of time!!! And be content as there is no big change from 4.2.2 so Sony doesn't probably want to waste development time for Android 4.3 , remember 4.2.2 UI was first seen on Xperia L , before SP , M ,V,T etc.
So we can even think a higher version is already in development

Xperia L will get Android 4.4 Kitkat update directly..
In May 2014, Xperia Z series will get 4.4 update, after that Xperia SP and after that Xperia L..
Lol I don't think so. I doubt it'll be 4.3, just maybe 4.4 but I really can't say. Like Hnk1 said, it's '1 year period' is over. It would be surprising if there's another major update, but i wouldn't expect it. All I can ask for is that the '1.16' update clears out all the bugs for us.
Update
Xperia M recive android 4.3 and more expensive Xperia L not !

[Q] kitkat for us?

I know this is a really common question and answer to this can only be given by sony ppl but still...
Are we gonna get kitkat update?
It really sux that we have "locked bootloader" + no "4.4"
If any one has any idea aboyt 4.4 plz keep posted...
Xperia E1 is scheduled for 4.4 but not Xperia C???
C mosts almost 2 times than E1!!! :silly:
Maybe..
I think maybe we can suggest a CyanogenMod version ...
Can't we?
It won't happen, Mediatek aren't planning to make sources for Mtk6589 for 4.4.

Hello again,
Well this file is a bunch of files which make our android work properly in this case miui its a connection between the hardware and software of any phone if your are developer you can use these files to port a new version of android to our device without waiting for the official release like there is cyanogenmod 12.1 which is very effect ROM lollipop based with help of these kernel source we can port a CM ROM to our device and get rid of miui and explore other aspects of lollipop so basically all you have to do is wait unless some developers who will be kind enough port a ROM or us then you if want can use it
