Hello, my rooted lg g pro with android 4.1.2 has leak dns How I should fix it?
More description:
My ISP blocked Facebook by dns blocking method, so then I ran hotspot-shield app can't access to Facebook, after many research I found the reason! It is dns leak (dns request does not send via vpn tunnel) issue So I try to find solution by google... but only one solution maybe work is dnsCrypt... Because hotspot-shield app work on my gf's phone(htc) properly! So I thought my phone dns leak can be fix by another solution.

Have you tried any other vpn? Or also maybe entering manually a vpn connection? Just to be clear, Hotspot Shield, leaks the dns and shows your real IP. By the way,it was never a secure service, and those that are thinking Hotspot Shield is protecting them are dead wrong!!! You can check ma claims on https://dnsleaktest.com/

[Q] Marketplace download error 805a0193 over wifi

I get error code 805a0193 when I try to download apps over WiFi. When I switch WiFi off, I can download them over 3G. I tried a HTC Tropy and a Samsung Omnia 7 on more than one WiFi network.
I also tried Nodo and Mango 7712 with the only difference that Nodo is not giving the error code but also fails over wifi.
Since I can download the apps over 3G, it must be some WiFi or maybe ISP / service provider issue?
I am using the South African marketplace with the Vodacom service provider.
Any luck Willie? I have the same problem...
No luck, it appears to be a marketplace issue. Hopefully when mango launches (and the official marketplace) we will have more info to troubleshoot.
Router or ISP?
I have exactly the same problem, but it seems to be isolated to my home network.
downloading via wifi at the office or at a friend's place works like a charm.
The only difference I can think of here is either the router (netgear) or my ISP (webafrica)
Anyone have any other ideas?
Same issue
Hi,
I have the same issue, also a Netgear modem and Afrihost as an ISP. I've logged several calls with Microsoft and they don't even know what is going on. I then installed Connectify and the Microsoft Network Monitor app (basically created my own HotSpot via 3G) an logged all the packets - it seems like the Marketplace server gives an "access denied" error... So am not sure how to get around that.
hmmm... so since you have a netgear marbur79, that MAY be the problem.
When I get a chance, I'm going to switch to 2 difference ISP's.
Namely, telkomsa and mweb. Will post my findings.
Perhaps you can try the same?
Are you guys on mybb at all? Anyway, same issue here, ISP is MWeb.
I do not think its the router. I tried d-link and netgear. I believe there is some issues with the marketplace setup if you access it from South Africa so Microsoft will have to fix it. I also asked the question to Microsoft. Follow the thread on

Yeah, I'm on mybb...what router are you using? I've tried this at my dad's place and it works perfectly, so don't think it can be a problem in SA.
He's got an elcheapo router connecting to telkom.

Netgear, but Mweb itself is getting 403 forbidden when accessing it. Telkom is working, but Mweb, WA, Afrihost do not.

So you've can safely say that its the ISP causing this issue?
I'll have a word with WB.
My ISP, surewest, is definately causing the issue. Free Wifi outside of my house works. Pre Mango works (dunno about Nodo, I just got the phone yesterday, and it came with 7008). ATT Mobile Data works. I disabled the firewall for a moment, and it still failed to work.
I am also having the same issue and it would seems as if there is no real answer yet?
I have WP7 HD7 with upgrade to full Mango 7720. I also received and updated an update from HTC (all updates over Zune). I am on Vodacom but with UK Live ID.
The small apps I can download over 3G, but the bigger ones request for WiFi.
I have switched to airplane mode and switched only the Wi-Fi on, linked directly to LinkSys WAG54AGS. ISP is Afrihost. I even installed a virtual WiFi network on laptop. No luck.
DNS Issue
Hi guys,
I found out that this is caused by a rogue DNS entry in the SA ISP's DNS servers. If you change your router's DNS address to 8.8.8.8 to use Google's DNS server instead the issue is resolved.

vpn issue -server hungup

Is anyone having problem connecting to vpn with transformer? My iphone can connect on the same wifi network, so it may not be the firewall or port forward issue. Any clue? Getting error -server hungup.

I have several PPTP connections setup and working on my Transformer. In order for people here to help, you'll probably need to provide more details:
What type of VPN connection is giving you trouble? PPTP, L2TP, IPSEC?
What type of firewall or device are you trying to connect to? SonicWall, Watchguard, pfSense, etc
What is the verbatim error message you are getting? is it really just "server hungup"?
Can you provide any log files from the VPN server that you are trying to connect to that shows where the failure is?
I've tried both on PPTP and L2TP. The exact wording of the error message is 'Server hung up. The username and password you entered could be incorrect'. The same configuration works on my iphone and 2 other computers on the same wifi network.
Unfortunately, without being able to see log files from the device you are trying to connect to I could only make a wild guess as to what is happening.
The problem I find most frequently with PPTP connections is comming up with a combination of authentication and encryption protocols that are supported on both the client and host.
The only thing I could suggest would be to try changing some of the encryption options at both ends of the connection and see what happens.
Android dosen't support MSCHAP on PPTP, said in a different way, dosen't support encryption. Also it's a very recent issue, it's been there only since 1.6
Get encryption disabled on the server and everything will be alright. Lol.
(sarcasm: VPN support has been added in 1.6)

i already tried disabling encryption...didn't work. How do I get the log? Sorry if I sound novice.

"server hungup" means you have a bad username/password combo
is there a way to clear just the network settings like iphone in Honeycomb without loosing the data?

vpn / ics

Ok, maybe it is not related to ics. After installing ics, I lost my vnp connection for the office (maybe because I was not using any lock screen before) I have re-entered my vpn, but now I always get a "timeout" when I try to connect Do any of you who are using vpn's connection also have this issues, or maybe I have something wrong in my vpn settings ?
Anyone with stock firmware ics can confirm vpn is still working ?
Working fine for me, might be your specific vpn?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
Ok thanks. I'll make sure with the technicien here that everything is ok on their side
I had the same problem...the vpn connection settings were erased after ics update.
I created the connection one more time but didn't worked. I deleted that connection also and created another one...with the same details and worked.
Can confirm this issue also. After creating a new connection vpn works like a charm.
L2TP/IPSec PSK vpn is broken for me after upgrade to ICS. Seems to be a known problem with ICS. My colleague's Transformer Prime with ICS also not working with same type of VPN. It was working great with Honeycomb 3.2.1 before upgrade on both devices. I use the tablet for work extensively so this kind of sucks. Everything else is great.
Have a B90 TF101 so can't easily downgrade!
So is it an accurate assessment that L2 VPNs still do not work on ICS, such as solutions from Cisco and Juniper? We had to setup a special L2TP/IPSec PSK for just Android devices, whereas iDevices work just fine with industry standard SSL VPNs. Amazing that Google can't get on board with this. Wondering too if the Exchange cert issues still persist with the default mail client.
Yes. We setup L2TP/IPSec with PSK on a SonicWall firewall that works for both the iDevices and our Android devices. All android devices that upgraded to ICS stopped working. Will try to connect but will timeout trying to establish connection. I can't confirm all other L2TP VPN types but PSK is definitely not functioning.
We've never had any issues with Exchange push on the devices.
I can confirm it.
Today we have tested furthermore.
Everything is ok on the server side and on the client side.
Looking at the firewall, we can see the tf101 establishing a connection, but nothing about phase 2, it's like the server is giving the acknowledge about the PSK, but the TF101 can't hear or is not listening to it.. eventually it goes out with a timeout.
Everything was ok before ics.
where should i post this message, is it enough to be listed here or should a send a support mail to asus ? or google ?
by the way I've tried deleting and recreating, but still not working.
I formatted before and after ics. I would suggest a format first.

Alternative Solution
Hello,
This isnt a fix by any means but have you had a look at 2X Application XG Server, it is a little like citrix but a hell of a lot cheaper.
The client is awesome and works perfectly for windows, android and iOS.
It is free if you have a low count of concurrent users, I believe it is 5 concurrent users for free, anyway the link is below;
cant post links guys sorry it is 2x with www and .com in between...
If you need a hand with deployment drop me an email at [email protected] and we can sort something out, not doing the big sell here guys just something we use as a company when we decided to move our customers away from VPN's.
Anyway hope someone finds it useful.
cheers.
Don't know if this will help but i use vpnc widget and 2x client. My system is all cisco, and the only way i could get to it before was with an ipad, which i have since given away for obvious reasons. I have been on revolver for some time now, and just upgraded to 4, with no issues whatsoever - if anything it is more stable!
Works for me, too, but I sure would like to know if anyone has figured out how to disable the screen-lock when credential storage is enabled, as I am using mine for an individual OpenVPN and PPTP vpn and it is just plain irritating.
i've sent technical inquiries to Asus with no response. Very disappointing. I guess they are fixing other issues that have a more broad base of users before they take on things like VPN. I believe this is a general ICS issue as a quick search on Google shows varies reports across different manufacturers who have released ICS and the L2TP VPNs are broken. Several bug reports have been reported to Google. Great way for Google to alienate business users.
Do a Google search with these terms and you see all the references to this problem
"L2TP IPSEC PSK android ics"
I was wondering if anyone out there was using an IPSec Xauth PSK type connection? This is what we have at work. I set up the connection on my TF101, I put in all the correct info, and when I clicked connect it connected; however, there was no data sent or received. I disconnect and try reconnecting, but the connection times out. Before the ICS update I didn't even have this connection option so its a step in the right direction, the only problem is that nothing happens when I connect. Is anyone else having the same problem? Is this a known issue? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

[Q] How to turn my android into a wifi hotspot WITHOUT using 3g/4g?

But instead use USB internet passthrough or the wifi connection on the phone.
I have a nds and a psp that don't have wpa2 encryption on it and I cant connect through wifi anymore at my house. So I'm trying to figure out how I can turn my phone (HTC rezound no root) into a wifi hotspot to bypass the encryption and without using 3g/4g.
A quick google search turned up that one user had success by changing his router security settings from AES to AES-TKIP
I would give you the link, but I am not allowed to do that yet...
Hope it works for you.

Only other thing I can think of is to see if there are any firmware updates for the PSP and NDS.

VPN Issues

I'm thinking this is more of an Android 10 issue. I cannot use ANY VPN when on Wifi. It's not my router. I've tried different routers. If I'm on Wifi, VPNs will connect, but I'll immediately lose all internet. If I turn the VPN off, I have to flip Wifi off and on again in order to get my connection back. This doesn't happen on 5G. I'm using AT&T.
I don't plan on rooting, and I cannot use an adblocker because most of them require creating a VPN connection. Any suggestions?
Ya this is an LG software issues... I read in the blokada thread someone who was getting help and the dev said it was our device fault. Then the person said they got a software update and it fixed their issue.
I guess we just have to wait for LG to send us a new security patch fixing the issue ?*

So no solution to this yet? Very annoying. As said above, VPN works with mobile connection, breaks connection when on wifi. Reported to LG (and where is even their link or address for reporting it)?

Believe me. If there were a solution, it'd be posted here. I've fiddled with some settings. By the way. It's NOT DNS. I've tried loading raw ip addresses, and no go. What's odd is the vpns connect, which means that, somehow, THAT'S getting out. Weird.
Same stuff here on my LM-G900EM.
I've been using AdGuard for years without any glitch, but since last LG software update, no luck on wifi. Waiting for a new version from LG.
The latest October security patch that my phone just got fixed the VPN issue. So keep an eye out whenever you get the next security patch it should be fixed.
The horrible laggy scrolling in apps has been fixed as well.
LG launcher is still a POS though and still seems to redraw at times going back home... And the random lag going into the eecents screen still exists ?.
I miss the LG of the G2 and G3 days
I got an update on october 15, with september security patch. It changed nothing on my wifi/VPN behaviour...

If you want adblocking without battery drain, just go to SETTINGS/NETWORK AND INTERNET/PRIVATE DNS... and type in dns.adguard.com. It will block most ads without a VPN or any other app installed and it's free. It's a built in function of Android 10

I can't believe that actually worked. Thanks for the workaround
I just got Android 11 update in Europe today. They finally fixed the VPN issue
So, this saga has finally ended. My firmware was G900UM10e. VPN bug, and phone would not take OTA. It kept saying I had the latest firmware. To their credit, AT&T support DID try everything. The phone wouldn't even take a push from their servers. New SIM card, factory reset, nada.
So, they sent a warranty replacement with G900UM10n loaded. VPN works perfect. I NEED it for work. And, today I managed to get G900UM10o over the air.
Either the IMEI of my old phone was MAJORLY hard bricked on their update server, or there was a bug in 10e blocking OTA.
Anyhoo, just wanted to share.
I also had such issues with my VPN. When I was connecting to a server, the Internet speed was slow. I changed different VPN until I decided to buy a licensed one. I bought the subscription on NordVPN because it is one of the best VPN, according to Reddit. The problem with slow Internet remained. I didn't know what to do. Then I understood that my internet connection at home is too and for using VPN. I had to change on fibro-optic cables to raise my Internet speed. When I changed the cables, all the problems were solved, and now it is working normally.
