I had the newest build on SlimSaber installed and was talking on the phone.
I noticed the screen was staying black and would not come on no matter what i did.
I rebooted into recovery and tried flashing a new rom, wiping data/cache, even flashing a cm11 radio.. No luck..
Edit: Internal Storage is empty when I connect the phone to my computer, but I can see all of my files and restored my nandroid backup when in TWRP?

This sounds like it may be a kernel issue, are you using the correct one?

So I have a small problem with my One S (S4).
Whatever ROM I flash I also have to flash fastboot boot.img wheter it's really needed for the ROM or not.
But that's not all.
Every time I want to reboot my phone, whatever ROM it is.. i get stuck in a bootloop and I have to fastboot flash boot.img again.
So basically I can't reboot/restart my phone without connecting it with USB and fastboot..
Really. Not even 1 reply?
Thats what I get for waiting a week and not bumping the thread awesome
I think you got no responses cause this is covered everywhere from OP's to many posts on it in the threads. So, unless I misunderstand your post, you have to flash the boot image all the time if you are on hboot > than .09. Or, you will bootloop. If this is what is happening you need to read up more in the threads before flashing the rom. Also, highly recommend you wipe system along with data and caches before flashing new rom.
Good Luck on it--

Ya I think you did misunderstand because it sounds like it works but each time he reboots he needs to flash boot.img again which is odd.

No need for the comment like that more so when no one really knows what's up but try Flash Image GUI to flash the boot.img and see how things play out.

I would say no. I just remember some people doing this would and it replaced IMEI information from previous phone and could potentially screw up your new phone. What is so important that you need to restore for TWRP anyways. A fresh flash on a new phone is the best route to take my friend
We make too much of simply taken the time to restore and reset things on a new flash.

I was going to say yes even if I never tried it as nand only backs up system, boot and data which should be no problem to copy and paste to a same model phone...you tried it first by yourself so good move

Shouldn't be a problem part of restoring to stock on some other phones is flashing a twrp backup and stock recovery. It shouldn't be a problem atall
As long as your not restoring EFS your fine. I have done this many times on many different phones.
Hi guys! I've looked all around and tried the fixes that people recommended, which is basically going back to stock.
So this is what happened to my brother's phone:
Was using the phone and all a sudden the phone freezes (He was on Android L) and he rebooted it. After rebooting, the phone went into bootloop. He downloaded some program that supposedly fixes softbrick and bootloop (by flashing stock ROM) Nexus Root Toolkit v1.8.7.
The phone was fixed.. Kinda.. He couldn't get any cell signal. Turns out his baseband and IMEI read unknown. He has the box the phone came in, to we know the physical IMEI number.
Is there a fix for this? I've tried this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/lost-imei-please-help-t2529103 but it didn't work.
Any ideas?

Also check if wifi mac address is changing after each reboot. Corrupted persist partition can cause problems like that and also other things like crasing apps
Check out my thread about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-to-fix-persist-partition-t2821576. It worths a try. If it does not help then you have to buy a new motherboard or claim your warranty if you have any.

Then it is up to you what are you going to do with the persist partition. You will lose nothing but time by formating the persist partition. If it not fix your problem then you have to buy a new motherboard for the phone to make phone calls either way because you dont have any efs backup.

Hey everybody I hope someone can help me to rescue my phone.
I flashed carbon and ukm. Then wanted to change GPU governor to simpleondemand and got hot reboots. Was not able to fully boot and lost imei. I tried to restore my backup but they didn't want to boot either, same with another fresh install. Thereafter I deleted synapse folder through recovery and was able to boot my restored ROM. Now I have no imei, no data, no WiFi... In addition my files don't show the files on my phone anymore I only can see them in my recovery, all is still there. My problem is I don't have an extra efs backup only two ROM backups. First I would have liked to know how I can rescue my data? Cause its not showing on booted phone and because of that also not on computer via USB. Is there a proper way to save and what can I do to maybe save my phone. I flashed ROM for years on many different devices and something like that never happened before any help appreciated thanks!!!

There is no reason for you to lose IMEI while rooting...
Follow this guide to do everything you need to do to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788632
Before : CM12S YNG1TAS17L rooted.. Works perfectly fine.. perform nandroid back up using TWRP before flash kernel. until I flashed Franco kernel r42.
After : Upon 1 boot after flash kernel, screen colour turns very unsual. The phone cannot detect simcard network at all. I've tried friends Simcard and several different carrier network. All cannot detect the sim card. & the phone freezes for 1-2 second then restart by itself its been doing this everytime I boot up. When I shut down the phone, it automatically start it self. I've tried restore back nandroid backup , wipe & install new stock rom or custom rom, everything doesn't work. Not Simcard detected, freezes and restart by it self no matter what rom I've installed.
I have no idea what to do... :crying:

Why not? There's information all over the place that informs people that it's crucial to have a backup of your EFS partition. The backup is the best way to fix your problem, with you don't have one your chances are slimmer. There are a couple of threads here in the q&a section and in the general section that propose fixes, track them down and start reading.
