[Q] Help! OPO cant detect sim card & restart every minute or so.. - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before : CM12S YNG1TAS17L rooted.. Works perfectly fine.. perform nandroid back up using TWRP before flash kernel. until I flashed Franco kernel r42.
After : Upon 1 boot after flash kernel, screen colour turns very unsual. The phone cannot detect simcard network at all. I've tried friends Simcard and several different carrier network. All cannot detect the sim card. & the phone freezes for 1-2 second then restart by itself its been doing this everytime I boot up. When I shut down the phone, it automatically start it self. I've tried restore back nandroid backup , wipe & install new stock rom or custom rom, everything doesn't work. Not Simcard detected, freezes and restart by it self no matter what rom I've installed.
I have no idea what to do... :crying:

Why not? There's information all over the place that informs people that it's crucial to have a backup of your EFS partition. The backup is the best way to fix your problem, with you don't have one your chances are slimmer. There are a couple of threads here in the q&a section and in the general section that propose fixes, track them down and start reading.

IMEI Unknown

Hi guys! I've looked all around and tried the fixes that people recommended, which is basically going back to stock.
So this is what happened to my brother's phone:
Was using the phone and all a sudden the phone freezes (He was on Android L) and he rebooted it. After rebooting, the phone went into bootloop. He downloaded some program that supposedly fixes softbrick and bootloop (by flashing stock ROM) Nexus Root Toolkit v1.8.7.
The phone was fixed.. Kinda.. He couldn't get any cell signal. Turns out his baseband and IMEI read unknown. He has the box the phone came in, to we know the physical IMEI number.
Is there a fix for this? I've tried this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/lost-imei-please-help-t2529103 but it didn't work.
Any ideas?

Also check if wifi mac address is changing after each reboot. Corrupted persist partition can cause problems like that and also other things like crasing apps
Check out my thread about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-to-fix-persist-partition-t2821576. It worths a try. If it does not help then you have to buy a new motherboard or claim your warranty if you have any.

Then it is up to you what are you going to do with the persist partition. You will lose nothing but time by formating the persist partition. If it not fix your problem then you have to buy a new motherboard for the phone to make phone calls either way because you dont have any efs backup.

Lost IMEI no data no WiFi, files only show in recovery, no efs Backup pls help

Hey everybody I hope someone can help me to rescue my phone.
I flashed carbon and ukm. Then wanted to change GPU governor to simpleondemand and got hot reboots. Was not able to fully boot and lost imei. I tried to restore my backup but they didn't want to boot either, same with another fresh install. Thereafter I deleted synapse folder through recovery and was able to boot my restored ROM. Now I have no imei, no data, no WiFi... In addition my files don't show the files on my phone anymore I only can see them in my recovery, all is still there. My problem is I don't have an extra efs backup only two ROM backups. First I would have liked to know how I can rescue my data? Cause its not showing on booted phone and because of that also not on computer via USB. Is there a proper way to save and what can I do to maybe save my phone. I flashed ROM for years on many different devices and something like that never happened before any help appreciated thanks!!!

[Q] Update to 44s, no more cell network

Hello,
I just downloaded the update to 44s.
After successful flash, it didn't ask me for a PIN after boot. I flashed using "reboot -> go to recovery".
Additionally, it says "invalid sim" and doesn't connect to any cellular network.
I am in Germany, using the stock firmware before (it was up to date, but not the 44s).
What can I do now? What was going wrong?
Thanks.
Update: I flashed cm-bacon-ac1ccf7921-to-5fa8c79c0b-signed.zip
I went back to stock, but the problem persists...
You probably lost your imei.
So in my phone's info, there is an IMEI. The IMEI SV is 00, that looks strange.
But in fact, the sim card is not working in my Galaxy S3 now anymore.
Please help
David.
That should tell you that it's possibly the SIM card that's the problem.
Transmitted via Bacon
I made sure now, after trying and trying...
Different sim works in the opo.
Sim from opo doesn't work in huawai surf stick, nor the galaxy s3.
So I have a problem I never had: a broken sim card.
So all I did this evening was because of this.
Thanks for any help, this forum is so nice.

timmaaa,
Hardware of software type of bug? If it's software, then couldn't/wouldn't there be a way to correct that?
Are you aware of any way to trigger the IMEI loss? I'm just starting to mess about with 3 OP's and I sure do not want to run into any issues.
Basically I unlocked and rooted an OP, set it up, TWRP'd it, and backed it up via TWRP. Then took that backup and copied it to another OP with basic unlock, rooted & TWRP'ed phone, and restored it to that phone. All seems to be working fine on both phones. Soon to do a third. If the IMEI is software stored I can see that screwing things up.

It's firmware related. There are threads discussing how to fix it in the q&a section. It happens randomly as far as I know.
I don't believe the IMEI is carried across unless you're reporting an EFS partition from another device, but there's one way to know for sure, compare the IMEI's on the original device and the second one that you restored the backup on.

com.android.systemui has stopped

I get the following error:
Unfortunately the process com.android.systemui has stopped
The error just keeps repeating if I press OK.
What I did to get this error was:
Backup current ROM using TWRP
Flash a Lollipop ROM (that didn't work)
Restore my backup
and now I'm screwed
I've read somewhere about Italians having this issue and that it had to do with low battery level. I have now recharged my phone to 95% but still no dice And my phone is running US English (though I'm in Denmark).
I'm running CM11 M11.

And how would I do that if I cannot transfer zip files to my phone?
And would I be able to restore my backup afterwards?
You didn't say anything about not being able to transfer zips to your phone, but I'm assuming you mean while booted into Android because of the persistent error. TWRP 2.8.x has MTP enabled so if you connect your phone to your PC while booted into that recovery you can copy a zip across to flash. And no, you can't restore your backup afterwards, the whole point of a clean flash is that it's a clean flash, completely fresh. Plus, restoring a backup after flashing a ROM would overwrite the ROM you just flashed, making it a pointless exercise. Plus, the backup that you have is obviously corrupt and that's what's causing your problem.
In short: download a ROM zip (and gapps), flash the latest TWRP to your phone (if you don't already have it), copy the zips to your phone, perform a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik cache), flash the ROM + gapps, reboot and start fresh.
Transmitted via Bacon
The only backup you should be restoring using TiBu after flashing a ROM are user apps, and certainly not system apps. Restoring system apps will cause problems in 99.9% of all cases.
I'm kind of thinking that it's my TWRP that has some issue. I've tried restoring 3 or 4 different backups and they all come up with the same error.
I'll update my TWRP when I get home and hopefully get a bit further...

I know, just talking about restoring backups in general after flashing a ROM.
Hence why I said "The only backup you should be restoring..."
EDIT* misread the OP. My posts were indeed a bit out of context...
Did a clean install - no dice
Then did an install without gapps and then I get to the initial setup where I have to choose language. And then it reboots - over and over. It completely bypasses any indication that there is a SIM card in the phone.
When trying to restore my previous backups I also go straight to my home screen bypassing SIM unlock and phone unlock.
Any other suggestions?

Not necessarily. Do you have any signal whatsoever? Can you navigate to Settings/About Phone and see your IMEI? Don't post it here but let me know if it's still showing up.
Transmitted via Bacon
Hmm, sounds like a hardware issue to me if you can't even get passed the welcome setup without your phone rebooting... Especially after a FULL factory reset.
Does the reboot start as soon as you touch the screen? This might indicate some kind of malfunction between hardware and drivers.
Raise a ticket on the OnePlus website and request for an RMA. You might also want to file a Paypal claim to speed things up.

Whether you know your IMEI or not isn't the point, it's whether it's still present on your device that matters. There have been cases where the IMEI simply disappears (along with your baseband) and having no signal is a consequence of that. I hope you made a backup of your EFS at some point because it's looking like this is what's happened.

Be careful, I firmly believe it's a backup that caused this problem, and you might not be so lucky next time. I'd seriously suggest just clean flashing now or you could be inviting the devil to your doorstep.

Hello, I had sent you a message to try and help as much as I could but you opened a thread so I'll help you on here.
First. Double check all twrp folders using a file Explorer. Some roms when flashed through twrp automatically back up your efs partition.
Second. If the folders are blank then we'll proceed to try other methods of fixing your imei.
I assume since you went from having a blank imei to that weird number you tried one of the methods you found through Google.
There are ways to manually reenter your imei if the methods found on Google fail. Follow the instruction in the site below (I highly suggest using the terminal emulator method) and report back here. Your imei can be found on your Sim card or the bigger card your Sim came in.
Flash with stock 5.1.1 ROM via odin.

If it's illegal, then it doesn't belong here. End of story.

This right here.
I have cleaned this thread, and I don't want to see any posts about IMEI modifying or anything illegal here.
You can try stock flashing, rebuilding an EFS partition somehow (probably impossible) or repair shop, but any talk of anything illegal and the moderators will take action on your account.
Thanks.
Have you tried searching for a Galaxy s6 efs repair script?
If nothing has worked you definitely need to go with a repair shop. Either a third party repair or try to warranty replace your phone through Samsung. If you go the Samsung route Odin flash 100% stock firmware then send it in to them and see what they say
yeh i boght new s6 edge lolllllll bbut i i learned to back up
