Hi All, apologies if this is the wrong forum.
I have bought this phone and reasonably happy with it however there is something that you guys might be able to help with. The call screen has this irritating thing called a padlock which needs to be double tapped to either end or make a call. While this is arguably useful it does prevent me from fully enjoying this phone.
Is there a way to disable the padlock for making a call or ending a call, maybe a third party app or something.
Also is this phone rootable if so can someone provide details or links.
Thanks in advance.

Apologies if this question has been asked and answered before, but if so, could someone please redirect me. This is my first time on this forum. I've had my HTC Touch Pro (Raphael) for a couple of months now, and cannot get round the problem that whenever I receive a call, I somehow manage to cut it off before I can get the phone out of my pocket. I have tried several different cases (the current one opens like a book, so doesn't press any of the buttons), but something happens in the process of removing the phone from my pocket, however gently and swiftly I try to do it, which means that all I get is a "missed call" message, even after only one ring. If the phone is on a flat surface, it will ring for a long time, so it's not that setting. This is SO frustrating, especially when you try to see who called you, and it just comes up with "unknown caller".... it's also costing me a lot of money having to phone people back when I do know who they are. Please help somebody. I really like my little phone, but it may well end up being thrown out of a window at this rate! Thank you!
Check out this utility here on XDA. Works great. Unlock the phone by rolling it over. It uses the gravity sensor.

Many thanks for that. We've installed this thread, although I'm not really clear about what it does. It seems I can now lock and unlock the phone by turning it clockwise and counterclockwise respectively along its axis (in addition to the long press, which is what I usually use to lock the phone).
I tried answering one call whilst it was locked, but couldn't free it up to press the "answer" key until I had turned it several times. Fortunately, the caller was quite patient! Is this just a technique I have to get used to, and will it mean that I get a chance to answer calls before the connection is severed? Sorry to sound so thick, but this is all very new to me.

Go to the settings menu and edit your SensorLock preferences to lock the screen only on an incoming call thus leaving the buttons unlocked.
Maybe the "face down mute" is happening to your calls? Try disabling it.
Um..... how?
answer keys disabler
You the thread below, it disables the onscreen answer buttons while ringing. Helps me getting the phone outta my pocket when ringing

Ah Dedy - if I win the lottery I shall come and throw a brand new Touch Pro through your window, I promise! I'm afraid that I'm having far too much fun with this one (despite the problems in my pocket) to part with it just yet though. Hope you have a great Christmas, and maybe Santa will bring you one, you never know!

What sort of sensor is used to detect whether the keyboard is open or not? Is it possible to physically 'dupe' that sensor with a piece of cardboard/dab of glue etc?
Actually, read the 'Already Done' part of this (very cool) thread. I remember seeing this a couple weeks ago. The OP used a small piece of tape to 'lock' the sensor on
thnx...
will try to do that..
wont work for me..
What did you try, exactly? I think we may be able to get this working for you, but tell me the steps you tried
i try to do this:
- Make the motorola think the keyboard is opened even when its closed.
The phone uses some kind of magnetic field i just used a small piece of tape and a thin blade and placed it behind the sreen
....just like the guy said..
and this:
First i couldnt use the phone to call when it was closed.
Then i used the app Fullscreen Caller ID and i could use the phone to call when its closed .

So where is the sensor located? You wouldn't be able to post a photo of it would you? I'll try and find a teardown when I get to work and see what we can do
Sent from my HTC Vivid
this is what i see on forum...but wont work for me..
the link you send me...there is some pics...
i cant post links..
I am also having the same issue. could someone please me on this.
So far I tried using full screen caller id and shakethephone apps which helped me to answer the calls without opening the phone but for making outgoing calls all the apps finally gives control over to stock calling apps which is not allowing me to make phone calls without opening the phone.
Please help me on this.
So I'm new to android (I'm only one week old ) and I'm amazed of course.
I tried to find an answer to my question (below) using an application from market or within my sn xperia neo v settings but nothing for 2 days now .
So here is my question:
When i receive a call, is it possible to first, unlock screen ( so that i have access to menu of phone) and THEN choose weather to answer the call or not.
just curious, why not decline the call right away instead of going into menu if its a phone call you don't want to answer.
But I DO want to answer it. I just want this to happen AFTER I can access the main menu or an app i want to open first.
I don't think it is possible anymore. Reason is that it was a security weakness. You could have someones locked phone, call it yourself, hit the menu button while ringing, and bypass the lock screen completely thus having free reign of someone elses previously locked phone.
There are some videos on YouTube showing you how to do it from 2010. The security hole seems to have been patched.
First of all, thanks you guys for the replies.
But I don't want the phone to unlock itself when someone calls.
All I want is when someone calls to have the choice to be able to access my phone's menu by unlocking it with slide or code or whatever I have and then IF I want to answer the phone or not.
I don't want to bypass the lockscreen. On the contrary!
Edit:What happens now is that when someone calls FIRST I have to answer or decline the call, THEN to unlock with slide/code, and THEN access the menu. I hope I haven't confused anyone.
We understand what you are trying to do. Not sure why though. But what you want to do would in effect bypass the security and that hole has been patched.
Just curious. What do you need to access before you answer or decline?
I want to access the office as soon as possible. Because of multitasking office closes automaticaly and i cannot keep it locked in order to stay open when certain people call me i have to keep them waiting to give them information they need. I have to answer, then i have to open office, open the file, go to the information i need and then give it to them. All that and the one who calls has to wait 'till i do all that.
So because i cannot lock an app in order to force it to stay open i figured, at least i can first open the file i want and then answer the phone.
I hope it makes some sense to you.
Again thanks for trying
Hey guys
I have a little problem on my desire s and I hope somebody on here can help me out, I'm sure the devs here probably could do something about it. These guys, if anyone in the world.
So the problem is I think my phone's charging port is broken or something because my phone always thinks it's in car mode. Which means auto rotate is always on even if I disable it from settings, and phone automatically goes to speaker phone whenever I make or receive a call and I have to manually make it go to normal right after making or accepting a call.
I understand that cleaning the port etc might work and looking for anything stuck in it. I've done all this and it did not seem to work sadly.
Now let's say I don't have any other way to fix this. I don't mind having to manually turning off speakerphone mode when I make a call but what really pisses me off is the autorotate.
Is there any way to permanently disable auto rotate altogether? I'm sure there must be a way. It's annoying because when I'm lying in bed I can't use my phone as it'll just auto-rotate when I lie to my side and look at the phone.I really need to find a fix for this as it's really bothering me.
Can someone please find a way to permanently disable autorotate altogether? I'm not a dev but I can pretty much do anything once I'm given a decent guide to do it. Please, anyone!? I will send you cookies.
Thanks for hearing me out.
The regular auto-rotate disable in phone settings doesn't work for you?
**My last thread got closed, should've read the rules, here goes a second try.**
One day when I was jogging, a little girl that looked scared and confused approached me. She couldn't find her mother and she asked if she could use my phone to call her. I thought to myself 'Sure, I'm helpful.' When I was waiting for her to finish her phone call, I noticed that she was swiping her finger on the screen. I was thinking to myself, 'Why does she need to scroll during a phone call?' I took my phone back and lo and behold, she was going through my pictures. I reprimanded her, telling her that she shouldn't be going through other's phones like that. I felt real bad that I had to take my phone back before she could find her mother, but what else was I supposed to do? It's not like there's an app that can do that.
That's when Avanos was born.
It's a simple phone dialer that locks the user in it so that no other app can be opened, fullscreen so that the notification bar cannot be accessed, It even closes the long home press automatically. It operates just like the built in dialer. After the person hangs up, it opens a password prompt that unlocks the phone and makes it go back to normal when the correct password is entered. I honestly think this is a revolution in Android. It can be helpful to coaches when kids that don't have phones need to call their parents, nice people who gives their phone out to others frequently, or as an everyday emergency phone.
So tell me what you guys think; I need the feedback.
Here's a link if you want to try it out, I don't know if it works for rooted phones. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mshaw.avanos8.lite
